In the morning, Shizuku was as always contemplating the mysteries of what made the toaster work. Shiho had once told her that it was electricity that made the heat, but Shizuku lacked the brain capacity to connect this to how the appliance once shocked her when she put her hand inside to investigate where exactly the heat came from. Today, she decided not to experiment because the burns started leaving scars.
When she came into the street, she met Akito, kicking a lamppost.
'Good morning, Akito. Why are you angry today?' she asked.
'I am a bad boy. I don't need a reason to be angry,' Akito answered and continued kicking. Shizuku continued walking and almost bumped into someone. It was Kanade.
'Oh, my, you're out in broad daylight,' Shizuku said. 'Are you okay?'
'I've run out of cup noodles,' came the answer. Shizuku nodded understandingly. Then, she heard a very loud song. It went like this:
Tenma Tsukasa is a star!
Tenma Tsukasa is the hero!
He knows everything and is the best
Yes, Tenma Tsukasa is a star!
And the one singing appeared. It was Tsukasa.
'Oh, isn't it Shizuku!' he said. 'What brings you here in this star-y morning?' he asked and then laughed really loudly, just as he had been singing.
'Hello, Tsukasa. I am going to school,' Shizuku answered.
'True, I'll get going, too!' Tsukasa shouted and ran.
At school, another surprise awaited Shizuku. Mizuki had actually come. Shizuku thought she'd have someone to talk to before classes started, but at that moment, the pink-haired figure disappeared in a cloud of gender-ambiguity. Oh, well. Shizuku walked to her classroom, ready for the start of another day.
