Chapter 1: Transported to a faraway place

Subaru had grown accustomed to the strange twists and turns his life had taken since arriving in the world of Lugnica. But nothing could have prepared him for what happened next.

It had been an exhausting day. Subaru and his friends had barely escaped from another deadly encounter with the Witch's Cult. They had sought refuge in a small village on the outskirts of Lugnica, hoping to rest and regroup.

As night fell, Subaru lay down on his makeshift bed, his body aching and his mind racing with thoughts of their next move. He closed his eyes, the weariness finally overtaking him, and he drifted into a deep sleep.

In his dreams, he relived the horrors of the past few days—the fear, the battles, and the constant threat of death. He tossed and turned, his subconscious unable to find peace.

Suddenly, a cold chill washed over him, and Subaru awoke with a start. His surroundings had changed. Instead of the familiar sights and sounds of the village in Lugnica, he found himself lying on the ground in a dense forest. The air was thick with the cries of cicadas, and the night sky was filled with unfamiliar constellations.

Panic set in as Subaru scrambled to his feet, looking around frantically. "What the hell?" he muttered, his heart pounding in his chest. "Where am I?"

He wandered through the forest, trying to make sense of what had happened. Had he been transported to another part of Lugnica? Or was this somewhere entirely different?

As he stumbled through the underbrush, his thoughts turned to his friends. Were they safe? Had they been transported too? The fear of being separated from them gnawed at his heart, a heavy weight pressing down on him. Tears welled up in his eyes, but he blinked them away, trying to focus on finding a way back.

Subaru finally reached a clearing, and through the trees, he saw the lights of a small village in the distance. Relief washed over him—at least he wasn't completely lost. He made his way towards the village, hoping to find answers.

As he entered the village, Subaru noticed the traditional Japanese architecture and the eerie silence that hung in the air. This place was unlike any part of Lugnica he had seen before.

He wandered the empty streets, his unease growing with each step. It was then that he spotted a young girl with long blue hair, wearing a shrine maiden outfit, making her way through the village. She seemed to carry a weight far heavier than her years.

Subaru hesitated for a moment before approaching her, his heart still pounding from the strange turn of events. "Hey," he called out, trying to sound calm despite his nerves. "Can you tell me where I am?"

The girl turned to face him, her eyes narrowing slightly. "This is Hinamizawa," she replied, her voice steady but cautious. "Who are you?"

Subaru hesitated, his mind racing. Should he tell her the truth? He mulled it over for a moment, imagining her reaction if he did. She might think he was delusional, or worse, she might report him to authorities. No, it was safer to keep it simple. "I… I got lost," he finally said, his voice wavering. "I was hiking and must have taken a wrong turn. Now I'm here."

The girl studied him for a moment, suspicion evident in her gaze. Subaru felt a chill run down his spine as her expression briefly turned unreadable, almost eerie, before returning to cautious curiosity.

"Hinamizawa is not a place you just stumble upon. Why are you really here?"

Subaru swallowed hard, his gaze dropping to the ground. "I… I don't know how to explain it. I just need to find my way back."

Rika's suspicion deepened, but she could sense the distress in Subaru's voice. "Hinamizawa can be a dangerous place for outsiders. You should be careful."

Subaru nodded, appreciating the warning. "Thanks. I'll keep that in mind."

They stood there in silence for a moment, the weight of their respective burdens hanging heavily between them. Rika's face momentarily flickered with a fleeting, unsettling expression—a flash of something deeper beneath her calm demeanor.

"I've never seen you before," Rika said suddenly, her voice soft but probing. "And that's saying something, considering how long I've lived here.

Subaru looked up, surprise flickering across his face. "You… you mean you know everyone here?"

Rika nodded slowly. "I've seen countless faces come and go. Yours is new, and that's… unusual."

Subaru's unease grew, a knot forming in his stomach. "I… I told you, I just got lost. I don't mean any harm."

Rika's gaze softened, a hint of sympathy returning to her eyes. "I believe you. But you should still be careful. Hinamizawa isn't always welcoming to outsiders."

Subaru swallowed hard, a shiver running down his spine. "I'll… I'll keep that in mind."

Rika glanced around the quiet village, her thoughts drifting momentarily. "I should go. It's late, and… things can get complicated."

Subaru nodded, understanding her hesitation. "Thank you… for talking to me."

Rika offered him a small, reassuring smile. "Take care of yourself, Subaru. I hope you find what you're looking for."

With that, Rika turned and walked away, her footsteps fading into the night. Subaru watched her go, a mix of emotions swirling inside him—gratitude for her kindness, but also a deepening sense of unease.

As he stood alone in the silent village, Subaru's panic began to rise once more. His encounter with Rika had only added to his confusion and fear. Was this really just a case of getting lost? Or was there something more sinister at play?

Lost in his thoughts, Subaru wandered aimlessly through the village, the weight of uncertainty heavy on his shoulders. The night seemed darker now, and every shadow seemed to hold a hidden threat.

"What's happening to me?" Subaru whispered to himself, his voice trembling. "And how do I get back?"

But the night offered no answers, only the chilling silence of an unfamiliar world.
