Dipper and Mable quietly rode in the back of their older cousin's car. The twins' parents sent them away for spring break. But instead of sending them to Gravity Falls, they were sent to a quiet little town up in Washington called 'Sanctuary'. Today was a very foggy day. The twins' cousin said it was normally foggy, but today it was kind of bad…

The silence was only broken by the sound of the car pulling into a gravel driveway.

Andrew: "Okay then… Welcome to your home away from home"

With that, all three of them hopped out of the car. Mable grabbed her luggage and walked up to the house.
It had no second floor, and the front yard had a couple trees and looked like it had not been mowed in a long while.

Dipper: "Well.. this place sure is interesting.."
Andrew: "Make yourselves at home. I'll be your caretaker for spring break."
Mable: "Come on Dip! I want to see the inside!"

Mable ran inside, closely followed by Dipper.
The inside was also interesting. The front door opened into the living room, there was also a hallway which connected to three rooms.

Andrew: "Your room is down the hall on the door to the right"

Mable ran down the hall to their new room, Dipper was still looking around the kitchen and front room.

Mable: "Uh… Dipper, you might want to look at this…"

Dipper walked into their room, Mable pointed to the window, which was boarded up.

Dipper: "What the… Why would he board up our window?"

The twins walked back into the front room and looked around for their cousin. They found him in the kitchen, Dipper walked up to him.

Dipper: "Uh hey. Why is our window boarded up?"

Dipper said that in what could only be called an authoritative voice.

Andrew: "Because I don't want stuff getting in. Not keeping stuff in…"
Dipper: "Uh huh…"

Mable walked up to them

Mable: "What are you doing?"

Mable asked Andrew.

Andrew: "I'm making us some food for dinner. I'll have to go shopping tomorrow."
Mable: "What are you making?"
Andrew: "Spaghetti. That's all I have at the moment"

With that, Dipper and Mable walked into the front room. Something was up with their cousin, and Dipper definitely didn't trust him.

Dipper: "Somethings off…"
Mable: "You can say that again…"
Dipper: "I have an idea!"

Dipper walked over to Andrew.

Dipper: "Hey cousin. Could Mable and I go outside?"
Andrew: "I guess you could go into town… But stay away from the forest…"
Dipper: "What- Why?"
Andrew: "I said stay away from there. Okay?"
Dipper: "Fine… We'll go into town"

Dipper walked over to Mable

Dipper: "He said we could go into town."
Mable: "Yay!"

Mable ran over to the front door. But Andrew called out to them.

Andrew: "H-Hold on! Wait!"
Dipper: "What?"
Andrew: "You'll have to go tomorrow… It's getting dark"
Mable: "So? We were allowed outside at night when we were in Gravity Falls!"
Andrew: "You're not in Gravity Falls! You're in Sanctuary. We do things differently here, It's not safe at night…"

Dipper and Mable walked away from the door. Mable groaning loudly.
Andrew finished dinner and served up the spaghetti to the two. While they were eating, Dipper asked.

Dipper: "Why is outside at night dangerous?"
Andrew: "The pests…"
Mable: "Pests?"
Andrew: "Oh uh- Y-You know… Bears, cougars, wolves… T-That stuff."

Dipper was sceptical, Andrew's answer felt fake, like an excuse.
Mable didn't really care and kept on eating her food.

After dinner, Andrew sent the twins to bed.

While they laid in their beds Dipper said.

Dipper: "Do you think we will be able to look outside?"
Mable: "I think so…"

Mable jumped out of bed and peeked through the boarded up window.
It was dark outside, but Mable could make out something in the trees off in the distance…

Mable: "Dipper… There's something out there…"
Dipper: "What?"

Dipper jumped out of bed and looked out the window as well.
The twins quickly turned out the lights and went to bed, both were a little scared of what that thing could be…

Soon though, both the twins fell asleep… Not ready for what tomorrow was going to bring…
