Welcome to my second fic in the Harry Potter Fandom! I first started with the Sevmione ship and then fell into a rabbit hole of Minmione (I think that's the right ship name?) fics and have loved both pairings a lot. This story is based on a prompt from the book titled 'Write The Story'. Each page in the book has a title and ten words that must be included in the short story. This is my attempt to use a prompt for a Minerva/Hermione story. Also, please keep in mind that this is unbeta'd and that this won't be my best work as it was quickly written while I was at my Aunt's house.
Prompt - Write the Story: A Romantic Scene in an Unromantic Place; Words to use - blacksmith, musical, elbow, woman, bundle, tongue, blind, Bible, barbeque, spark (all of the words will be italicized).
Disclaimer: All rights go to their respective owners. I own nothing except for the content of the story, a vivid imagination, fear of using too many commas, and the hope that my Hogwarts letter will eventually arrive (alas, that is unlikely, but a girl can hope haha).
Normally a stoic and confident witch, Minerva McGonagall was a bundle of nerves. She was set to propose to her former student turned lover, Hermione Granger. She wasn't blind to the fact that there was a large age difference of thirty years, that Hermione was a woman, or that the Bible stated that being with an individual of the same sex was wrong. What mattered was that they were besotted with each other and were soulmates. Hermione and Minerva belonged together, everyone could see that.
The day before, Minerva had gone to a wizard who specialized in magical blacksmithing in hopes of commissioning an engagement ring for her girlfriend. The ring she commissioned was made of gold, emeralds that were flanked by small rubies and it truly represented both of them in style; understated elegance that was also simple. It was perfect.
xXx
The day after Minerva purchased the ring, they were set to go to a barbeque thrown by a friend. It was fun and filled with laughter and great musical tastes. Until it wasn't.
The host's mother was very opinionated about her religious and political views, and didn't control her tongue; that is what caused an awkward, emotional situation to spark. Her friend elbowed her mother in retaliation for being extremely rude to Minerva and Hermione. Despite there being an awkward emotional ordeal, Minerva decided to propose. Getting down on one knee, Minerva opened up a small trinket box with her family crest on it.
"Hermione..." Minerva spoke hesitantly.
Hermione gasped as she turned from her conversation with her friend who was checking on her. Was what she wanted actually happening?
"Oh, my love. Despite being in an uncomfortable confrontation with your friend's mother, I felt now is the correct time to do this. You love me for me, and I reciprocate the sentiment; you are my everything and you are the center of my world and thank Merlin every day for bringing you into my life. Will you make me the happiest witch alive? Marry me, Hermione?"
Hermione gleefully answered with a loud, "YES! Oh sweet Merlin yes!"
The romantic scene in an unromantic place was sealed with a soul-searing kiss.
Again, apologies for this not being my best work and for this being short. This was just a short one shot using a prompt from my prompt book. I do hope you enjoy it nonetheless.
