It has been nearly half a year since the celebration of Naruto's third birthday and the village of Konoha was alive with the usual activities of its citizens. For the Kuchiki-Uzumaki family, a large change had taken place. Byakuya was named Clan Head by his father, Ginrei Kuchiki, leading to the parents both becoming Clan Heads and allowing him to wear the scarf the Clan Head wears. This had been in the works for months, however Ginrei and Byakuya agreed that the elderly Kuchiki should maintain the seat until such a time that no formal occasion was on the horizon so the transition would not come off as the seat being passed due to weariness.

While the daily lives of its people were ongoing, the Hokage, Minato Namikaze summoned the Shinobi and Civilian Council for an important announcement. With in the Hokage tower, the Clan Heads and Councilors gathered as they waited for the Hokage to arrive. As they all waited, the Clan Heads were having their own isolated conversations while the members of the Civilian Council attempted to insert themselves into the conversations of the Clan Heads. "Ah pardon me Kuchiki-sama" stated Toshiro Urgura, a leading merchant specializing in textiles, "I couldn't help but notice that Uzumaki-sama is not with you. Is she ill?"

Byakuya gave no sign of suspicion, however the question felt off. He had heard warnings from his father that many of the Civilian Council members attempt to insert themselves into the business of the Clan's through any means that are presented. Often times using pleasantries to level insults at the shinobi as they see themselves as their betters due to their position on the council. Though their position holds no weight as it only becomes active upon a meeting being called. Otherwise, they hold whatever job they would perform during their daily lives. Tsume Inuzuka, who Byakuya was conversing with at the time, looked at the man with a disguised heated glare. While the feral woman was not one for politics, she understood that she couldn't act brash in such a setting less she risks her Clan's reputation. "She is absent as she is taking care of our child" replies a calm Byakuya.

The portly man raises his hand with a dismissive wave. "I don't see why she does so. She should just assign a nurse maid and not dismiss her duties to the Council." Both Byakuya and Tsume recognized what he was doing. If Kushina had done so, then his response would been more of chastising her for being a poor mother for leaving her son to come to the meeting.

"While it may seem that way to you Councilman, my tsuma will receive a briefing of the meeting from myself once this venture has concluded."

"Ahem, I see. But if she is not here then how can we vote on an issue that requires action. Without her attendance all issues would need to be put on hold…"

Byakuya cut the man off. "I can assure you that no wait would be necessary. My tsuma has filed with the office of the Hokage that I am allowed to vote on her behalf should the need arise, as she is able to do so for myself."

"Well that seems … quite unfair for the rest of us. You would automatically have two votes to whatever argument arises while the rest of us have only one" complained the merchant. 'Aside from the back room deals that you and your cohorts make between meetings to simplify your votes' thought the two Clan Heads.

"With the merger of our Clans through matrimony, as well as the both of us being Clan Heads, it seems rather odd that you would bring up such an issue now. Especially after we have been married for two years and had been courting for a full year prior" stated Byakuya.

"Well, it had never been an issue until recently" complained Toshiro. This put the two Clan Heads on guard as well as the heads that were within ear shot, especially Fugaku. He had his own problems with the members of the Civilian Council, namely their attempts to propose a marriage between his children and their daughters. Being the head of the Uchiha Clan as well as the village police force, he was also aware of the corruption that those who became Civilian Councilors participated in. However, the evidence was difficult to come by. He also took offense to his wife's friend being called out so blatantly. He had to applaud Byakuya. If anyone were to suggest what this man was about his wife… well let's just say understanding how to give someone a heart attack with the sharingan was an amazing skill to flex from time to time.

'He knows something is coming. Maybe with this meeting?' questioned Fugaku. It was at this time that the doors opened, showing Minato along with his advisors Hiruzen Sarutobi, head of the Sarutobi Clan and Sandaime Hokage, and Danzo Shimura.

Danzo was often considered a Warhawk, however he always has the best intentions of the village at the fore of his mind. When push comes to shove the man is not one to back down despite having one eye and one arm that must be sealed to prevent a fuinjutsu mark from poisoning his body. He could release the seals that were preventing it from spreading and use his sealed arm, but that was a last resort for the man. He was the more aggressive of the two however he would back down if the long-term ramifications would hurt his village. He was also known for questioning the motives behind the other villages making him seem paranoid, however in the shinobi world paranoia was a curse and a blessing.

Hiruzen was the calmer of the two, often being more of a voice of reason and passive until a threat of open hostility was placed before him. Sometimes his passive nature could lead to those who opposed Konoha to push harder to see just how much they could get to "maintain peace", which is why Minato had both as his advisors.

As Minato walked to his seat, the Councilors stood in front of their seats with Danzo being at the head of the civilian side, which irked him. He saw them as annoyances that, while having their usefulness, never looked very far beyond their own pockets. Anyone who could be bought to betray Konoha was not one worth having in a position of power in his mind. Not to mention the blatant disrespect they showed the Hokage stoked the flames of his anger even more.

The Clan Heads and Advisors remained standing as Minato made his way to his seat, while some of the Civilian Councilors looked ready to sit back down. Once Minato took his seat, everyone else followed suit. "Greetings, I am glad you could all make it" said Minato with a slight nod of his head. "I have called you here today as I have received a message from Kumogakure." This caught the attention of most of the entire council room.

"What did the message entail?" asked Danzo.

Minato waved a hand, causing an Anbu to place the scroll from Kumo in the center of the table. With a gesture Minato opened the table to claim the scroll so they may read it. "They wish to send an ambassador and an entourage to discuss an alliance." This statement immediately put the Clan Heads and Advisors on guard. Danzo, through the use of the Foundation, has gathered evidence of Kumo sending shinobi to other villages with the goal of extracting kekkei genkai holders for the purpose of getting a clan in their own in their boarders. Meanwhile the Civilian Councilors seemed to get a glint as a new market just opened to them.

"Have they stated their terms in this alliance?" asked Hiruzen.

Minato gave a hesitant nod. "They have stated that they wish for an opening trade, though what they want to trade is left open." This put the Clan Heads on guards as well as some of the Civilian Council. Not having an idea of what your business partner wants out of trade agreement means that you don't know what they intend to offer until the day of the deal, giving them leverage in the negotiations.

"There must be something else that they placed in the scroll?" asked Shikaku Nara.

Minato nodded once again, "They also discussed wanting to meet with the Clan Heads to see Clan Compounds as a show of good faith."

This put all the Clan Heads and Danzo on alert, though the one to voice this concern was Hiashi Hyuga. "ABSOLUTLY NOT!" he shouted as he stood to his feet.

"I agree" stated a calm Danzo.

"They want us to show off our clans and let them into our homes as what? A sign of good faith?" asked Fugaku with a scoff.

"Please" interjected Tsume, "Knowing Kumo, they want to use that as a means of scouting the Compounds for their kidnapping of one of the clan pups that catch their eye" stated a disgusted Tsume. All the Clan Heads agreed with this sentiment however some of the Civilian Councilors had something to say.

"Pardon me" stated San Mai, a skinny twig of a man who oversaw parts of the financial affairs of a few banks in the village, "But surely there is no issue of a guest wanting to sign an alliance to enter one's home for a quick tour?"

"That would be illogical" stated Shibi Aburame. "Our homes hold secrets that we guard very carefully as well as treasures that many would covet should they be granted the opportunity."

"Forgive me Aburame-san, but if your Clan has such great treasures, wouldn't this be the opportunity to show them off?" asked Toshiro.

Byakuya put his two cents into the conversation. "Our treasures are our own and we trust few outsiders to see them due to their significance. Unlike many of you…" he stated giving a pointed look to the Civilian Council "we do not flaunt what we possess like it is some prized dog to be paraded as a means of demonstrating our social status. For that, we let our actions and skills convey that message. It is why the Uzumaki were feared as a Clan and why the Uchiha, Senju, and the Kuchiki were so powerful before the hidden villages" spoke a clam Byakuya.

Fugaku let a small smirk grace his features, his pride as an Uchiha being fanned by one as strong as Byakuya got his blood pumping. "I agree with Kuchiki-san" stated Fugaku. "There is a reason that our names are recognized and feared throughout the Elemental Nations. Our ancestors earned the prestige we now hold and not just due to the artifacts they crafted. Through their accolades and accomplishments of their skills we have the prestige and reputations our Clans are known for." spoke Fugaku as his pride swept the room like a wave over the beach.

"Let us return to our discussion" stated Minato. "For now, we must determine how we are going to handle the escort and their interest in exploring the Clan Compounds."

The Clan Heads all scowled at the idea of having the foreign shinobi enter their Compounds. "If I may," preposed Hiruzen, "can we merely show them their location within the village? This is something that any citizen in Konoha can do so there should be no harm in letting them see the outside of the Compounds with a passing glance."

"I disagree" stated Danzo. "While it is true that we cannot stop our citizens from walking by or visiting these areas if they have business with our Clans, we are looking at foreign shinobi, and ones who are plagued by rumors of kidnapping young children in the hopes of adding kekkei genkai to their forces. For this I say they should be denied the ability to even see the locations."

Byakuya was the next to speak. "I conquer with Danzo-san. History around the mountainous village of Kumo has shown their drive in prioritizing more military strength and doing whatever it takes to increase it as my tsuma would know all too well."

"With all due respect Kuchiki-san, your okusan had experienced Kumo's ambition during a time of strife. Surely, they would have changed their ways by now?" preposed Gin Romei. Many that knew Kushina were suddenly very glad that she wasn't here because if she was… well vacancies could always be filled. Byakuya took that rather personally. Having been the one to rescue his wife from those Kumo shinobi as well as overhearing their less than … benevolent intentions for Kushina left a rather poor taste in his mouth. Before he could speak however Danzo spoke again.

"Unlikely. Thanks to what we have been able to glimpse of the civil war going on in Kiri, we know that Kumo has attempted to send in teams to take advantage of the chaos and grab some the scattered kekkei genkai wielders. Thanks to this, Kuchiki-san's comments about their more militaristic tendencies holds true."

Fugaku also spoke, "They also pose a security risk. Having foreign shinobi as dignitaries going around and seeing secure locations means that there is a major chance for breaches to occur as they will have more room to maneuver even with a twenty-four seven watch. The more room they have to move around the more likely they can become a hazard."

This prompted some of the Civilian Councilors to equate this to being a bad host. At this Hiashi scoffed, though somehow, he did it in a snooty manner than was possible. "Then you host a guest that has a history of robbing a person when their back is turned and you can deal with the consequences."

At this, the Civilian Council became a lot quieter and stopped trying to push the issue. It was then, Minato said something that shocked the Clan Council and his Advisors. "I must partly agree with the Civilian Council. It would be bad of us to not show off our village else it could be seen as either a sign of weakness or mistrust against our guests who are seeking an alliance." Before the Clan Council could object however Minato continued. "However, that does not mean we need to show off our Clans' Compounds. Instead, we can show them the bustle of the marketplace through a tightly knit escort with members of the Hyuga Clan hidden nearby and watching them with their byakugan to ensure that no maneuver is pulled to deceive us." With this the Clan Heads had to agree with certain portions of his argument, but can agree on the measures he wants to take to watch the delegation as they move throughout Konoha. "With this agreed on and no set terms they wish to discuss, I say that we work on determining what we would like to gain from this agreement."

"Do we know when the delegation is set to arrive?" asked Shikaku.

"They are set to arrive close to the end of the summer, that gives us three months to determine what we would like to negotiate for in this alliance" stated Minato. With a nod of acknowledgement, the Councils set to work on the terms they want to put forth during negotiations.

As the Council meeting was ingoing, Kushina was spending time with her son. They are once again in one of the private study rooms working on his calligraphy. With an additional half year of practice, the young Kuchiki-Uzumaki was making great head way in the art. Kushina looked on as she watched her son complete the brush strokes for his first phrase "The Will of Fire" as he wrote them at a size that would allow the characters to fit on an adult's fingernail. While it was clear to see his strokes were improving, he was struggling with some of the more complicated kanji. Once he set the brush down, Kushina began to go over his craft. "I'm proud of you Naru-chan! You did really good for your first phrase. I noticed you struggled a bit with 'Will' though…" at this point Naruto looked down, not wanting to see his mother's disappointment. "But that is okay." This caused him to look up at her. "See it just shows us what we need to work on. For today we will practice the more intricate kanji so you can write them more easily when you try again. Remember, for now it is not about speed, that will come with practice and repetition. For now, just focus on making the correct brush strokes and you'll be a master in no time dattabayne!" encouraged an excited Kushina. This energy was reciprocated by her son, becoming even more excited to try again. "All right Kaa-chan! And just you wait! I'll get this down and become a great seal master like you dattebayo!" Kushina was happy for her son's enthusiasm on the inside however she was in tears. 'NO! MY LITTLE NARU DEVELOPED MY VERBAL TICK!' she ranted as a spectral version of herself cried waterfall tears into her sleeve.

After a few hours, Naruto and Kushina took a break from his studies, which at this time consisted of calligraphy, history and chakra control. The two were sitting on the walkway that looked into the central courtyard, admiring the peacefulness of the scene. They were enjoying a cup of tea which Kushina was more than willing to brew and enjoy the company of her son. As Naruto was sitting next to his mother, happily drinking his tea he asked, "Ne, Kaa-chan?"

"Hm? What is it Naru-chan?"

"Well, I was wondering, can I get a sword too?" he asked enthusiastically.

"Hmm? I thought you wanted to be a great seal master like me?" she asked as she pointed to herself with her thumb.

"I do Kaa-chan! But I also want to be a great swordsman like you and Tou-san! I mean oji Ichigo and Renji were telling me about this time you beat four platoons of Kumo shinobi with nothing but Sakashio! Then there was the time that you beat the son of the Raikage by hitting with a seal that reversed his chakra every time he tried to use it! They also told me about this one time where Tou-san summoned a lot of cherry blossoms with Senbonzakura and even beat back the Gobi!" replied a stary eyed Naruto.

"Aww it's so sweet that you want to be like me and your Tou-san! Well, how about this, when you are set to graduate from the academy then you can forge your own sword. That is around the age when all Uzumaki and Kuchiki forge their own sword. Until then when you get a little older you can learn how to use a forge so when the time come you can make your partner."

Naruto looked at his mother quizzically, causing Kushina to giggle into her hand. "You see Naru when we forge a sword we put a part of our soul into the blade, this is especially true for the Kuchiki. When they forge a sword, it is what they see in their mind and heart imbuing it with special powers that are unique to the owner. In that way no two swords from the Clan are alike. As for the Uzumaki, when we forge our swords, we imbue them seals of our own design as well as the seals the keep the blades from rusting or dulling. The unique seals grant our swords unique powers that no other has seen a well as seal them into regular looking katanas so they are easier to transport, though your otto Ichigo chose not to do this instead walking around with his large sword like his from Kiri."

Naruto was in awe of his mother's explanation of their family swords, making him all the more giddy to make his own. "Now remember Naru-chan, since you are both an Uzumaki and a Kuchiki yours will be extra special. You will be forging the blade you see in your heart and mind as well as imbuing it with unique seals that you design."

If his blood wasn't pumping before, it was now. "Just you watch Kaa-chan! I'll do you and Tou-san proud when I make my sword!" exclaimed Naruto with a fist pump.

Kushina herself reached over and pulled her son into a hug. "You already make me and your Tou-san proud Naruto, and don't forget it."

Within the walls of the Shihoin Compound, the heiress was preparing herself for the future she wants to earn for herself. The Shihoin Compound closely resembled the Kuchiki Compound, reflecting the usage traditional architecture that was popular prior and during the Warring Clan's era. Prior to the Warring Clan's era, they were tasked with guarding the sacred treasures that were often blessed or crafted by the Gods. They also have four of the five treasures from the Rikudō Sennin locked away with the final treasure, the Kohaku no Johei, still in Kumo.

The Compound itself was the same size as the Kuchiki Clan Compound though the layout was different. The Compound was orientated to have its layout stretched out as a rectangle that went from east to west with the entrance being on the eastern side of the Compound. They had a smaller courtyard behind the first defensive wall however they had a larger entrance from the area that allowed them to greet people inside the Compound as well as a small courtyard that could be used for outdoor meetings without having to expose the Compound to guests for simple meetings. Beyond the entrance of the Compound were five courtyards with the largest having a small gazebo, a decent sized koi fishpond, and a shrine similar in size to the one in the Kuchiki Compound dedicated to Hachiman. The courtyard had dedicated stone walkways to use as means of quickly running between buildings when compared to some other Compounds like the Hyuga. The Shihoin Clan had their meeting halls, and offices of Clan officials on the western side of the Compound while the areas in the center were the living and communal dining areas. If one chose not to eat in their own home, the sparing grounds, smith shops, and dojos were on the northwestern side while the rooms for learning and studying were accompanied by theater stages for preforming plays and historical acts were on the southeastern side. That is also where the fabled vault of the Shihoin was located on the entire western wall. Emblazoned on the front gate as well as the four walls that made up the second layer of defense for the front entrance. Within one of the study rooms, accompanied by a few books was the heiress of the Shihoin Clan, Tier Harribel Shihoin.

Tier was wearing her usual attire of black, long sleeve shirt, made of a breathable material for the hot days of Hi no Kuni, under a white zip up jacket that had a tight-fitting high collar that covered her lower face with form fitting long sleeves that stopped a little past her wrist. She was wearing a long white dress that fell to her ankles, that could be mistaken as hakama by the folds in the cloth, which was held up by a black hakama-himo. She had on shin high, black tabi she wore with custom white zori.

Yoruichi was wearing a white shitagi with a black kosode which had her Clan symbol on the back. Over her kosode she had on a white, ankle length, long sleeve haori with an orange liner while her hair was tied up in a high ponytail. She was also wearing a black hakama with a white hakama-himo, that would be complimented by knee high shinobi sandals with white soles. It should be noted that sometimes she wears a black leotard with a turtleneck collar underneath. Tucked into her hakama-himo was her kodachi.

Kisuke had also changed his attire. While wearing the same outfit as his wife, a white shitagi with a black kosode which had Yoruichi's Clan symbol on the back, while having on black hakama, and white hakama-himo that had his sword tucked into it. His outfit differed as he chose to wear buff brown geta, with a knee length, black, long sleeve haori that had large white diamonds embroidered along the bottom. He also wore his green and white striped bucket hat that cast a shadow over his eyes.

When the three had returned from Naruto's birthday, Tier had a question for her parents the next day. "Kaa-san, how does one catch the eye of a boy?" Yuorichi smiled with a wide grin that stretched across her face. "Well…" she was interrupted by her husband Kisuke. "NO! My little girl is too young to date!" he wailed as he appeared out of nowhere hugging his little girl close to his chest as he had waterfall tears rolling down his cheeks. Before he could continue his rant, Yuorichi kicked him in the face sending him into the wall before kneeling before her daughter and placing a hand on her shoulder and began her explanation.

"Now dear, the important thing to remember is that, unlike civilian men, shinobi are attracted to strong kunoichi not just beautiful ones. So, if you really want to attract this boy you should aim for being the strongest kunoichi possible. However, don't let the chase rule you. Get strong and keep a friendly relationship with him. Remember to occasionally push him for dates and you will get him in no time" she said with a thumbs up and a face splitting smile. Tier had a question however. "But Kaa-san, is it not the boy who is supposed to ask the girl out?"

"Usually yes. However, you are trying to ask out the son of a man that would stake his claim however it wasn't until Kushina dragged him on a date did the two finally start to go steady. Also, you are competing with two others so the one who makes the best first move has the best chance of winning" states Yuorichi. "But Kaa-san, should I not just claim him now to be victorious?"
"Well on this, I must agree with your father. For the time being work on being close to him and when you graduate the academy then ask him on a romantic outing." Though Tier didn't understand her mother's reasonings yet, she would heed her words and be the best kunoichi she could.

Ever since the party Tier had thrown herself in to her training, trying to prove herself as one who could be a strong leader. While many in the Clan were happy to see the young heiress taking her duties seriously, both of her parents knew her other reason to why she was throwing herself into her training. Yuorichi smiled at the little crush her daughter has on the young red-headed Kuchiki while Kisuke was in denial of his daughters' feelings.

The first skill she dedicated herself to was penmanship. She would practice this often by rewriting passages from scrolls or texts to the best of her ability. Her goal with this exercise is to have the words match those in the text in appearance and cleanliness. The other skill she chose to work on was history. She was already reading texts that described a variety of subjects, the best to choose was either history or literature, and since the Kuchiki have a great understanding of history it may make her appealing to Naruto in the future. She did also ask her parents for training, though all they agreed to teach her was chakra control, as it is a skill that is safe to teach no matter the age.

The Senju Compound had a traditional aesthetic though their layout was rather unique for such architecture. While still having the boarder wall of the Compound, they had no secondary wall, instead past their gate was a large, two-story building that acted as the offices of Clan that had an open center as well as a rock garden one may use to meditate. Connected to this building were two more one-story structures that seemed to have multiple purposes. From there were connected walkways to the rest of the Compound that followed a more personal layout of the clan, however each main structure seemed to be two-stories tall but were full enclosed with balconies that circled the top floors for each. It was said that each building was used to teach a skill from both civilian life such as carpentry, writing, or linguistics, and shinobi life like shurikenjutsu, Katon jutsu, or bojutsu, this was how the Clan maintained its moniker as "The Clan with One Thousand Skills". Where most clans that followed this aesthetic had multiple courtyards, each set between the many buildings in the Compound. The Senju Clan had a large lake in the in the Northeastern section of the Compound which held three islands within it of varying sizes that were connected by wooden bridges.

Within one of the large study rooms was the granddaughter of the current Clan Head, Rangiku Senju-Uzumaki. Rangiku was wearing her normal attire of shihakusho with some minor differences of the standard black and white attire. Her kosodo, while still black and having the Senju and Uzumaki symbols on the back, had a thick, carnation pink embroidery that followed the seam that followed the collar, with a matching hakama. She also wore an eggshell white obi, a sakura petal pink obijime and hakama-himo. Like all the women in her family, Rangiku wore clothes for both style and comfort.

Konan had changed from her more formal attire to a navy blue, sleeveless top that had a large hemline on the front, exposing her naval, the lateral part of her breasts, and her back while it had a long piece that fell to her ankles with a tight, high collar that hugged her neck, where the Senju symbol was located. With her naval exposed, it was shown to be surrounded by four piercings resembling the locations of the four points of a compass. She also wore near black legwarmers, that blended in with her shinobi sandals when she went out of the Compound.

Yahiko wore a mesh, long sleeve, armor shirt underneath a undergrowth green rope, which had the Uzumaki symbol on its back, that fell to just past his elbows that was held closed by a white hakama-himo that had a black stripe running through the center, that held his mask and sword, with black anbu pants.

Nagato was wearing a platinum grey shirt that had a red Uzumaki spiral on the back. He wore fern green pants that stopped just above his ankles while having a white hakama-himo wrapped around his waist that held his sword and mask.

Tsunade was wearing a grey, sleeveless kimono blouse, that was open mid-way down her chest display a portion of her bust, with a broad, berkeley blue obi that held it closed, delft blue capri pants, and a grass-green obi that had the kanji for "gamble" on the back. Her normal shoes were open toed, strapped black sandals with a pronounced heel.

Shizune was wearing a black olive kimono with an ivory white tomoeri that was held closed by a plum violet obi. The kimono was as open in the front, displaying her generous bust as well as her mesh armor shirt underneath that has a burgundy red collar that was cut low to the top of her bust line. She wore similar sandals as Tsunade though hers did not have the same pronounced heel.

Currently Rangiku is undergoing one of the many lessons one is set to undergo as a future Clan Head, as well as one who has their eyes set on a red-headed Clan Heir. Though, when she brought up her interest in the young Kuchiki-Uzumaki her family, they had surprised her. "What! My darling little girl cannot be interested in boys!" protested a frantic Yahiko. "She is too young. Yep, that's it, too young!" stated Yahiko as he nodded. He missed the gleam in Tsunade's eyes.

"Why don't you let me talk to her Yahiko, after all a conversation like this requires a woman's touch" she said as she patted his shoulder. In his hysteria, Yahiko made a comment that was best not said out loud. "No way Haha! You have been out of the game far too long! Besides what could you possible tell her? Since you know you are …" He never got to finish as he felt one of Tsunade's punches send him through a wall… and another… and another.

While Yahiko was redecorating one of the buildings in the Senju Compound Tsunade turned to meet her confused granddaughter's eyes. "Now Rangiku" said an eerily calm Tsunade "one of the best moves to use on a man is to smoosh his arm between your breasts, it never fails to catch his eyes" Tsunade told her granddaughter with a smug smile. Konan, who entered to find out why her husband had nearly made it to the Compounds wall, on the other hand had different thoughts.

When she heard her mother's advice, she knew she needed to intervene. "Okaa-san, she is too young to be trying that tactic" Konan stated in a flat tone. Tsunade let out a huff "Well it worked on your Tou-san." Konan sighed as she shook her head in her hand. She raised her head to meet her mother's gaze, the two silently arguing about when the use of such tactics would be appropriate. After a staring match between the two older women, Tsunade relented.

With a huff, Tsunade gave her response, "Fine." For a second all seemed fine until Tsunade became enthusiastic again. "Rangiku dear," Tsunade said as she knelt down and placed a hand on her granddaughter's shoulder, "when the time comes don't be afraid to flaunt the girls a bit, that way he for sure won't take his eyes off you!" she said with a thumbs up. 'And with your genetics there is now way you be as big as at least your Kaa-chan! Who knows you may even get as big as me!' she thought to herself as a grin she wanted to keep hidden made its way onto her face.

Sensing her mother's thoughts, Konan set down the law. "With modesty Kaa-san, she is trying to attract one boy not the whole village" she said sternly. Tsunade, feeling like her intentions were being called into question retorted. "Hey, it's a valid tactic! Plus, it could help distract her opponents when she makes Genin" Tsunade added, as that last part was added to make it seem like she was thinking of things beyond the bet she made with Kushina, Mariko and Yuorichi.

Knowing her mother had a point she responded with a sigh. "While I can't deny that" she looked at Tsunade sternly "We also don't want to overuse a tool or else he could become used to it" Konan stated. Shock flashed across Tsunade's face, completely forgetting that her daughter agreed to help Rangiku win the bet. "You're right! Quickly we must brainstorm some more ideas!" Tsunade said as Konan looked on blankly, all the while Rangiku looked excited but was confused as to what her grandmother and mother were talking about.

Konan needed to cut Tsunade off as they were delving into territory that would best be used later in life. "Rangiku dear" spoke Konan sweetly, getting her daughter's attention. "The best way to get a shinobi's attention is to be a strong and beautiful kunoichi." Hearing this Rangiku's eyes lit up. Despite listening to the entire conversation, she didn't understand anything until now. "Really Kaa-san?" Konan nodded.

Before she could continue however Tsunade through in her two cents, "And beautiful. It's the strong and beautiful ones that catch the eyes of shinobi." With a sigh, Konan continued. "Yes. To help you have the best chance at catching his eye, your Baa-chan and I will be helping you become the strongest and most beautiful kunoichi." At this point Rangiku was seeing stars, "Will I really be as beautiful as you and Baa-chan, Kaa-chan?"

With that sentence, Tsunade pulled her adorable granddaughter into her chest, giving her the biggest hug she could. "Of course you will sweety! And to help you become a strong kunoichi, your Kaa-chan and I will start your lessons!" stated Tsunade which Rangiku gave a cry of happiness at. It would take a lot of … convincing… to get Yahiko to help start his daughters training, though she was still young to begin physical training so they started her academics.

Rangiku still found these lessons boring, often asking when she will be able to start her kenjutsu lessons. Despite Yahiko wanting to get outside and exercise, Tsunade was adamant that she was not old enough for physical training she would need to undergo to be a proper kunoichi.

As Byakuya and Naruto were out, having some father son time, Kushina was assisting in tutoring her niece, Karin Uzumaki. Karin was also wearing standard Kuchiki attire that they often wore, however being an Uzumaki she had the red spiral on its back as well as a matching red shitagi.

Her mother, Mariko Uzumaki, changed to a kunoichi designed kimono with a white robe over top that had a high, hime collar and was held closed by a matte amethyst obi. The two older women were going over the finer points of one's depths in their brush strokes and how it correlates to the effectiveness in a seal in one of the study rooms in the Kuchiki Compound when Mariko noticed her daughter's attention seeming to be elsewhere.

"Karin is something the matter?" Karin's attention was brought back to the two women. "No Kaa-chan, its nothing" she said nervously. Now this caught Kushina's attention. "Karin" Mariko said as she placed a hand on her daughter's shoulder, "I can tell something is bothering you. You can tell me." Karin looked nervously between the two older women. As the silence dragged on, Kushina and Mariko began to piece together a possible reason why Karin was acting the way she was acting.

"Karin does this have something to do with a certain boy?" asked Mariko. Karin looked away from the two women to hide her light pink that dusted her cheeks. Kushina smiled slily while Mariko let out a sigh. "Umm, yes" she said with slight embarrassment. Since they were on this discussion, the two women decided to let Karin lead the conversation about a topic that clearly held her attention. Karin drew in a deep breath before speaking. "Oba-san Kushina, Kaa-chan … how do I get the attention of a boy?" It was here where the two women had different reactions.

Mariko let out a sigh of resignation while Kushina got excited. At this question Kushina let a smile grace her face. Karin was asking for help in getting her son's attention. She may have not mentioned by Naruto specifically but if her actions at his birthday celebration were anything to go by…. "Well" said a contemplative Kushina while Mariko sat on one of the pillows in the study room, finding this as a perfect opportunity to tease Kushina while making sure that Karin gets sensible advice.

"The first question to ask yourself is 'Is he a shinobi?'" To this Karin looked confused, though Mariko knew why this question was important. Seeing this, Kushina elaborated. "Remember this Karin-chan as it is a very important question. All shinobi love a strong kunoichi. I mean just look at me and your Oji-san" she stated with her chin raised with a proud smile. "Let's also not forget how you pretty much staked your claim on him by the time you were Chunin and scared away the competition" giggled Mariko.

Kushina rounded on her cousin. "Hey! Those weak and shallow fan girls only wanted Byakuya-kun for nothing but his status. A true kunoichi earns her own while seeking her future husband!" exclaimed Kushina. Karin herself figured she should be taking notes on this. "Well, it also helped you were the one instigating the dates" whispered Mariko with a giggle behind her sleeve. Karin looked at her mother and aunt confused. "Oji-san Byakuya didn't ask you on dates?" asked Karin. Kushina gained rosy, red cheeks which she clasped her hands over. "No, he was so shy to ask. So, I needed to be the one to take the initiative" stated a giggling Kushina. Karin still looked confused. She just couldn't see her uncle, a man who was said to have pushed back the Kyuubi itself, could be shy about anything. "Umm then how did you know he liked you?" questioned Karin. At this Kushina got a dreamy look. "Oh, it was the small things. Like how he would sit next to me even if there were available seats elsewhere in the academy. The subtle looks at me if I wasn't … ahem… hanging out with my friends"
"She means raising hell at the academy" clarified Mariko with a grin. Kushina felt dejected. "Hey, we weren't that bad!"
"Says the woman that, alongside Anko, beat down most of the students in the whole academy?" Kushina crossed her arms with a dark look in her eyes. "Well no one called me that again did they?" questioned a chucking Kushina. "Uh … not really the point."
"Anyway!" said a now sparkling Kushina. "The more definitive signs were when other boys tried to flirt with me, Byakuya-kun would be there and give them a cold stare that made it seem like we were in the middle of a blizzard that he would keep on them until they left" she said with a dreamy sigh.

"Umm this great and all Oba-san, but how does this mean that being strong gets me a strong shinobi?"
"Hmm? Oh, it means that you can protect yourself and any future children you would have! It also shows that you are interested in them for more than just their reputation and status and that you have other interest than 'boys'" explained Kushina off handedly.

At this Kushina wrapped an arm around Mariko's neck. "I mean just look at your Kaa-chan! She was the silent one from our group back in the academy but she studied hard and trained just as hard as me and Anko. Now she is one of the best seal masters and medics in the village dattabane!" This praise made Mariko chuckle lightly while scratching her cheek. "That's also how she met your father!" whispered Kushina to Karin's ear. "Really!"
"Mhmm" nodded Kushina. "Kushina don't tell her!" whined Mariko. "But why not it was so cute!"

"Oh can I hear the story! Please please please!" Begged Karin. Mariko looked dejected "Sigh fine." Kushina was bouncing in place, eager to tell the story.

"Well you see, back when they still taught basic fuinjutsu back at the academy, there was a 'cute boy' that caught your Kaa-chans eye. Well, she must have done the same because on day one he sat next to her and gave her a megawatt smile. Well by the time they started actively writing seals your Kaa-chan was well into her private iryo nin studies under Tsunade Oba-chan. So, and this is where it started, when they were drawing their first storage seals in class, they caught each other's eye and looked away quickly while blushing, messing up one of their strokes" giggled Kushina.

"Then, when your father went to activate his, it had blown up in his face knocking him to the floor where he banged his head. Sweet Mariko, worried for her Prince Charming," she said as her giggling continued, while the other pouted "rushed to her fallen prince's side and used what she knew too dull his pain. Of course, she didn't take away his delirium so when he opened his eyes he said…" here she started tapping her chin while looking contemplative. "What did he say Mariko-Chan" asked Kushina who was nearly laughing as she recalled the memory.

With a blush, Mariko said the words her late husband said to her that day "I thought I was sitting next to an Angel, now I see three of her. This really must be heaven" she repeated, her blush only getting deeper. Karin was seeing stars. She could see it now. Naruto would be hurt in a training accident and she would be there to help him. He would then call her an angel like her father. Then they would go on a date and they would be boyfriend and girlfriend. It was here she nearly squealed.

"Ne, Kaa-chan! Can you teach me iryo ninjutsu?"
"Um, sure sweety but I think we should finish going through the basics for fuinjutsu before we take a leap in that direction. You are an Uzumaki after all, it is important for you to know the basics at least." Karin pouted. "But Kaa-chan!"
"No but's young lady. Besides some of the skills in creating seals can be used in operations performed by iryo nin's."
"Like what?"
"Well, let's say you have a surgery that can only be completed by deft hands and smooth motions. Your calligraphy training can give you the skills to perform the hand motions necessary to save a life." While Karin still didn't see the correlation, the stubbornness of the Uzumaki would lead to an impasse. "It would be better to learn this now and use what you learn here in the future" advised Kushina and Mariko. "Afterall what you learn from one skill can help you master another" the two quoted from Mito Uzumaki. Trusting in their advice, Karin asked them to continue their lessons, hoping what they were saying was true.

While the women of the Uzumaki Clan within the Kuchiki Compound were having their discussion of the past, Byakuya and Naruto were enjoying time together as father and son. The two could be found walking through one of the many parks created by the Shodai Hokage when the village was first founded. The noon day sun beat down on all beneath it, however that was not something that bothered the two Kuchiki as they spent time meditating in the shade of one of the surrounding trees.

While many of the other children were running around in the intense heat, Byakuya made sure his son was protected from the high sun while continuing to teach him patience. "Tou-chan?"
"Hm?" Byakuya opened one eye to look to his son. "Why are we meditating? Can't I go play?" Byakuya closed his open eye once again before answering. "It's the sun. With its current position, it is not healthy for the exposure with no water to replace what we sweat out." Naruto looked confused at his father, not understanding what that means.

Feeling his son's confusion, Byakuya smiled while keeping his eyes closed. Placing a hand on his head, Byakuya rubbed his sons head affectionately, "It's to protect you and teach you a lesson." Naruto nodded at his Tou-san's words though he still wanted to play with the other children. Sensing his son's mood, "When the son passes in a few more hours, you can join the other kids" he stated. Naruto's mood shot through the roof. He could hardly sit still anymore, the excitement of joining the playing children was something he was looking forward to as the only children he plays with are the other Kuchiki Clan children and Karin.

As the day was winding down, Byakuya was carrying his tired son home. "Did you have fun Naruto-chan?" As tired as he was, Naruto still nodded, all the while looking like he was trying to get his second wind. As they were making their way home, a small stand caught Byakuya's eye. While not much of a fan for what he was seeing, he could get some for his son. "Naruto, would you like some wagashi?" Naruto looked at his father with curiosity. "What is that Tou-san?"
"A wagashi is a confectionery that is often ate with tea made of fruits and nuts. Since you were so good with your meditation today, would you like some."

With a vigorous nod of his head, Naruto gave his answer to try the new sweet. Byakuya made his way into the small shop that resembled that of a small restaurant from the Warring Clan era. As they entered, the shop owner bowed to the two. "Welcome Kuchiki-sama. How can I serve you today?"
"I request a table and a small order of wagashi with a serving of tea, if it is not too much trouble."
"OH, of course not Kuchiki-sama! Please take an available seat and I shall bring your order with upmost haste" the man said with a respectful bow.

Byakuya set Naruto down in the seat next to him on the floor cushions situated on elevated tatami mats. Almost as soon as they sat down, a server came with a tray that held a kettle and some wagashi for the two Kuchiki. As soon as the tray was set down, the server began preforming a tea ceremony for the shop's guests. Naruto was curious about the ceremony, so he watched the proceedings with rapt attention. The ceremony proceeded with practice professionalism, showing the servers expertise in their craft.

When the tea and wagashi was presented, each serving consisted of six confectioneries with varying designs. Naruto inspected one of the small, square, cherry blossom pink sweet in front of him. On top seemed to be a small, holly pink five-pointed petal with a canary yellow center. His Tou-san's was a circular, lawn green confectionery. Unlike his own, which has a flower on the top, Byakuya's had a bright red Konoha leaf on the top. Both dishes were served a top a white porcelain plate that has a sea blue rim. When the tea was placed in front of the two, Byakuya clapped his hands together and gave a near imperceptible bow of gratitude and thanks. Seeing his Tou-san's actions, Naruto quickly mimicked them, after which they both partook of the confectioneries.

While Byakuya didn't hold any favor for the sweet, preferring spicy foods. Naruto's eyes lit up. The sweet taste hit his tongue quickly, setting off his taste receptors with the sugar that he was tasting. If not for his Tou-san, Naruto would have scarfed all his wagashi down with little regards to his manners. It was safe to say that he enjoyed the stop for wagashi.

It would be a little later in the evening when the two would return to the Kuchiki Clan Compound. Kushina fell into step beside Byakuya as he carried a tired Naruto to their home. She looked over happily at the two, "Did you two have fun today?" Kushina asked Naruto. Despite how tired he was, Naruto still gave an invigorated nod with his response. "Yes Kaa-chan! We spent a few hours at the park near the compounds. I met Sauske and a few other kids. We spent a lot of time on the swings and the other things! After that we went and got wagashi! It was really good!" cheered Naruto. Kushina smiled happily at her son. "That is great Naru-chan! I am glad to hear that you had fun." As the three arrived at their home, at which point the couple put their son to bed for the day seeing as how tired he was.

Kushina was walking through the market district in her casual attire, consisting of a high collar, almond colored blouse, with the Uzumaki Spiral on the back, under a long, loose fitting fern green dress that fell to her mid shin and lilac colored shinobi sandals with a basket that holds a storage scroll inside on her arm as she was walking and humming a little tune. 'Hmm. I wonder what I should make for dinner this evening?' thought Kushina. There were so many dishes to choose from: like ramen, gyudon, curry, sukiyaki. Suddenly, like lightning, it hit her. With a snap of her fingers, she enthusiastically stated her idea for the world to hear. "Oh, I know! I'll make everyone's favorite form of ramen. I can make Naru-chans miso ramen, Byakuya-kuns spicy ramen, and my shio ramen!"

She quickly made her way through the market to gather what ingredients she needed. As she moved through the market, she was given many greetings of "Uzumaki-sama" from the villagers. Some bowed to her while others waved to the Clan Head which she returned with a smile. While procuring peppers for the spicy ramen, she heard someone call out to her. Turning to see who it was, she saw her friend Mikoto with young Itachi. They too were wearing more casual clothing for the market district as they shopped around.

Mikoto was wearing a violet purple blouse with the Uchiha fan on the back and a red plum skirt accompanied by cobalt shinobi sandals. She had a basket of her own on her arm as well. Itachi was wearing a midnight blue shirt with a loose-fitting high collar that has the Uchiha fan on the back, floral white shorts and midnight blue shinobi sandals.

"Miko-chan! Itachi-chan! How are you?" she asked as the two groups closed to meet one another. "I am doing well Kushina-sama."
"I'm doing good Kushina-chan. Are you out shopping today?"
"Yeah. Today I am going to be making everyone's favorite dish for dinner. And aren't you adorable, helping your Kaa-san with the shopping?" she asked as she gave Itachi a warm smile. Itachi gave a small smile of his own with a nod of head. "Your idea sounds delightful Kushina! Do you mind if we join you while we shop?"
"Of course not! I still have something to get. Lets not dally!" Kushina stated enthusiastically.

The three walked through the market district, talking of mundane topics as they moved including Itachi's training. Eventually the three ran into more of the mothers' friends. The first they ran into was Yoruichi, dressed in her usual attire. The next one they ran into was Hitomi Hyuga, being escorted by one of her Clan's branch members dressed in standard Konoha Chunin attire. The group ended their travels through the market district in one of the more modernly designed aesthetics.

"So Kushina how is Naruto doing?"
"Oh Naru-chan doing great on his calligraphy. You she should see how well he is doing. He can write his name on a grain of rice!" cheered Kushina. "We also agreed to help Naru-chan his chakra soon. As an Uzumaki, he will undoubtedly have large reserves so we need to start his control as soon as we start his physical conditioning. Right now, he is with Byakuya-kun going over his basic academics."
"I know what you mean. Right now, Fugaku is teaching young Sasuke the basics of nature transformation for his rite of passage" stated Mikoto.

At this, the remaining mothers began to brag about their children's accomplishments. "Tier-chan has done well with academics. She is being taught by Kisuke in the sciences and math's. Though she seems to try and find holes in his initial theories" Yoruichi said with a shrug of her crossed arms. "She has a mind similar to his when it comes to analyzing what ever gets put in front of her so I'm excited to see how she handles her physical training. I bet she'll be strong like me" she said confidently.

"There are also three girls from the clan that have also decided that they were going to follow her around as her personal attendants, Sung-sun, Apacci, and Mila Rose." This got the attention of the other mothers. "She seems to just let them do so. So they have joined Tier-chan while she attends her lessons. Sung-sun is calm, Apacci is brash and loud, kind of like Anko-san, and Mila Rose is somewhere in the middle of the two when it comes to personality. Sung-sun often gets between the other two when they start to bicker about something. I'm sure if we get the kids together again, you will get to meet them" Suddenly, Hitomi latched onto that statement. "That's a great idea! How about a play date?" The others gave it some thought. "I like it" said Yoruichi. "We can have the kids meet at the Hashirama Forest Park to they can play on a day they don't have lessons" suggested Hitomi. "How does that sound Itachi? Would you be willing take Sasuke to play with the others?"
"Of course Kaa-chan" replied Itachi.

As the silence set in after ironing out the details of the play date, Hitomi asked "So Kushina … how do you feel about the Kumo ambassador coming to Konoha?"
"Oh I'm just fine" said Kushina with a smile, though it was more one she wore when she was going to pound someone into the dirt. "Why do you ask Hitomi?"
"Umm … well … you know … with your history with the village and all."
"Oh there is no need to worry Hitomi-chan, I am just fine." As Kushina said this, the image of her Uzumaki mask appeared on a shadowed figure behind her that only the ladies could see. 'It would seem that after all these years, Kushina still holds a grudge against Kumo for attempting to kidnap her all those years ago' they all thought.
