Nico was truly confused. Currently, he was holding Will's hand as the sun boy led him over to a small group of demigods that he luckily recognized, crowded around Thalia, who was sobbing her eyes out even as Reyna held her in comfort.
Nico took a few steps forward towards his cousin and looked over at Reyna, giving her an obvious look of 'what's going on' and waiting patiently for her to reply to why his cousin was sobbing as if she had just seen a dead person.
Reyna gestured her head to the side, and Nico looked over to his left to see someone he wished he never had to see again. Standing a few steps away from Nico was Luke Castellan, with his blonde hair, blue eyes, and his scar on his face, standing there as if he were wondering what was wrong. Nico's mouth formed the perfect 'O' shape as he realized that his cousin did see a dead person.
Nico remembered Luke all too well from when the son of Hermes was the vessel of Kronos, and he couldn't help but cringe just looking at the demigod, remembering not only the war but also Luke's mother, May Castellan. Nico could recall the day he and Percy had gone to visit the woman and her cookies and peanut butter sandwiches she was making, waiting for her son to come home to her and tell her all of the fun and adventures he had had while he was away.
Nico could sadly say he regretted letting his mind wander, wondering what the woman was doing now. 'Probably still sitting at home, baking those chocolate chip cookies,' he thought to himself, but shook his head to get his mind off the thought and looked away from the son of Hermes and back towards Thalia, watching as the girl was still sobbing.
Nico looked over at Will, let go of his hand, moved to sit next to his cousin, and nudged her with his elbow. "It's okay, thunder bug." He whispered to her, hoping to the gods, or more specifically, Hestia, since Nico knows well that most of the other ones are barely worth shit, that he was saying the right thing. "Just wait until the hunters have to come play, capture the flag, and we beat you. That'll make you feel better."
Thalia stopped crying for a second and turned her head to look at him with a small glare, even though they both knew Nico could see her smile. "No way, death breath," she muttered, still playfully glaring at him, her smile turning into a smirk as she started to get up. "We all know the hunters win every time we visit camp."
Reyna chuckled a little as she helped the daughter of Zeus to her feet, wondering how the god Nico managed to cheer the girl up so fast. Next to her, Will sighed deeply, and Reyna guessed he was wondering the same thing as she was. Reyna glanced to her left, seeing the boy with the scar. She didn't know much about the boy for sure, but she knew from what some of the Greeks told her that he had betrayed the camp, killing many and giving his body over to Kronos as a vessel, but in the end, by other people's words, 'died a hero'.
Reyna couldn't help but scoff slightly at the thought. 'Dying a hero would be nice after being a traitor, for sure.' Reyna bit her tongue to silence the words in her head and instead calmed herself down by clenching her first, then opening it before closing it again. It was either that or fantasizing about ways to kill Octavian (Reyna personally liked the second option best but didn't think it was the time to voice that thought).
"So anyone wanna explain to me why Thalia is not a pine tree and broke down crying when she saw Luke?"
The demigods of the future turned around to see the miniature Annabeth standing there with her arms crossed and a stern look on her face. Reyna swore she heard one of the Stoll's muttering something about Annabeth being scary, but Reyna of course chose to ignore that.
"Well," Will said, clearing his throat and sweating a bit. Reyna couldn't tell if it was because he didn't know what to say or because of the look Annabeth was giving him. Reyna guessed it was both.
"AHHHHHHHHHHH"
Before Reyna has to go through the long process of watching Will try to come up with a horrible excuse, a loud yell rang out, and everyone in the pavilion craned their heads up to look at the figure of a falling boy with goat legs as he fell from the sky and hit the pavilion floor, probably in pain from his buttocks and wondering why everyone just watched him fall instead of helping him.
The satyr got up off the wooden floor and looked around, noticing the small group at the front. He started smiling and opened his mouth to walk towards them, but then his eyes caught sight of the blonde-haired girl with gray eyes practically glaring daggers at him. "Why is there a mini Annabeth?"
Thalia looked up with a smile and jumped up, running to the satyr and wrapping an arm around his shoulders as she ruffled his hair a little bit, even minding the horns on his head. "Grover, how have you been?"
The pavilions went completely quiet as they stared ahead of them at the duo, their mouths open in shock and wondering if they heard that correctly?! Grover groaned, and Thalia teased him. "Where are we, Thalia?"
Leo stepped forward, raising his finger. "I think you mean, when are we?" The son of Hephaestus said it in a matter-of-fact tone, grinning playfully as if he had just caught a small puppy.
Grover raised an eyebrow at the boy, wondering what the hell he meant, until his eyes looked around and once again landed on the mini Annabeth, before he looked over at Thalia again. "Time travel?"
"Yup"
"The gods or the fates?"
"Fates"
"Big quest that we all know Percy is somehow going to end up on?"
"Probably"
"When do we go back?"
"No idea"
"Who-"
"You're me?!"
Grover looked around to see who in the world had interrupted his sentence until his eyes landed on a mini version of him standing up with his palms against the table that he had obviously just stood up from. The mini-Grover(I'm going to start calling the past people by their initials because it's easier) looked at his future self with absolute excitement, his eyes looking around at every detail of his future that he could find. "You're really me! Did we find Pan? Did we get our searcher license? Di-"
GU was cut off from his questions with a hand on his mouth from a mini-Percy as he smiled at his best friend and shook his head. "Calm down, G-man." The son of Poseidon started with a happy and soft voice that almost surprised some of the future campers. "We wouldn't want you dying from not breathing before you can even start your future."
GU smiled at his friend and walked closer to his future self, his hooves stomping on the wood as he walked. Grover felt Thalia release him from her grip and bent down to talk to his mini self with a soft and confident smile. "You're going to do great things in the future," Grover said, his eyes looking right into his younger selves in a show of confidence. "Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."
Conner smirked at the scene and, in a small voice, added to the words. "Yup, I mean, they're not the lord of the wild like you are, right?"
The pavilion once again went silent for almost the hundred times that day as everyone stared at Grover in shock and awe. Chiron stepped forward, his face one of pure bewilderment. "You found Pan, my boy, that is a great achievement!"
Before the centaur could even think of giving the satyr a clap on the back, a huge figure fell from the sky and onto Chiron's back. "Pony!"
The future demigods looked at the boy, or rather cyclops on Chirons, back with pure happiness, and Annabeth started to pull out her dagger to attack, but Katie stopped her just in time, giving her a soft smile.
"Don't worry," Katie said, watching as Nico and Thalia rushed to help Chiron and talk to the cyclops on his back. "It's just Tyson."
