1945: A few weeks after the end of World War 2

An old wizened wizard stepped up to a dais and cast a spell near his mouth. He cleared his throat, "Ahem, ahem… Respected wizards and witches of the International Confederation of Wizards. It is a joyous day, as we celebrate the fall of the dark wizard, Grindelwald."

The hall erupted with cheers from all of the wizards and witches present. The wizard then raised his hands for silence, before speaking. He continued talking, "Coincidentally, it is also the end of what the non-Magicals call, World War 2, with the defeat of the tyrant, Adolf Hitler. I would like to invite Grindelwald's vanquisher, Albus Dumbledore to the podium. In his own words, he has some startling news."

When he stepped back, Dumbledore, a middle-aged wizard who was just beginning to gray, approached the dais, but he was not alone. Dumbledore spoke, "Greetings everyone! It is true that the Dark Lord Grindelwald has been defeated. However, there were a variety of interesting revelations about the non-Magical world. It seems, my findings reveal that people have become a lot more tolerant about beings with other powers."

He paused for a breath and took in everyone's reactions. Hearing no negative ones, he continued, "Gone are the days of witch hunts and persecution. Now, this may sound controversial, but I believe that the Statute of Secrecy will soon become obsolete."

There was a gasp, and a wizard jumped to his feet, "What are you suggesting Albus!? We dissolve the Statute of Secrecy? Have you gone mad!? What proof do you have of this?"

Dumbledore smiled and motioned to someone standing a little behind him. This man had blonde crew cut and Caucasian skin, and was wearing a military uniform. Dumbledore gestures, "Witches and Wizards of the ICW, I would like to introduce Colonel Steve Trevor. He is a Squib who joined the armed forces in the United States. Steve?"

The man nodded, "Thank you Albus, Witches and Wizards. My name is Steve Trevor. Let me start by telling you a story. In the midst of the war, President Roosevelt tasked me with an important mission. My government has cleared me to reveal that we assembled a group of individuals with superhuman or enhanced powers to combat the Axis forces. So, without further ado, I would like to introduce, the Justice Society of America!"

Four individuals stepped into the room and Trevor introduced everyone. He pointed to a well-built man with large wings protruding from his back. Trevor said, "Meet Carter Hall, codename Hawkman. Contrary to what you may think, this is not a botched Animagus transformation."

There was muffled laughter in the crowd, and Trevor smiled at his ice-breaker. He continued, "Mr Hall is said to be the reincarnation of the Ancient Egyptian Prince Khufu."

At that, the Egyptian delegate perked up, "Truly? Legend had it that the priest Hath-Set murdered the prince and his consort."

Hall nodded in his direction, "Indeed, and much of the prince's memories have been preserved in my mind."

Trevor pointed to the next one, a man in a black mask and a yellow cloak. He said, "This is Rex Tyler, codename Hourman. Tyler blended non-magical science and alchemy to concoct a potion that grants him special powers and abilities that will last him for one hour."

"Next, we have Jay Garrick, codename The Flash. An accident with non-magical chemicals resulted in him having super speed and a few other powers at his disposal. "

A fair number of ICW members were impressed. Finally, the last person stepped up, a woman in red and gold battle armor with a sword at her hip and a shield on her back. With a hint of pride in his voice, Steve Trevor announced, "Finally, we have Diana. She is an Amazon who hails from the mythical island of Themyscira."

There was a startled exclamation from the Greek delegate. The witch stood up and bowed to Diana, "My lady! I am honored by your presence. Many Greeks from the magical and non-magical world grew up hearing tales of Themyscira."

The delegate turned to her fellow members. She said, "Themyscira existed centuries ago, but that wretch Herakles tricked Hippolyta and stole her magical girdle. With that, he enslaved many Amazons until Lady Aphrodite intervened. Since then, the island has been hidden from the world. The island is populated only with women and any male who sets foot on Themyscira is usually executed."

With the introductions done, all of the wizards conferred among themselves. When the debate was over, the presiding wizard announced, "Sadly, we are at an impasse. While many are for the dissolution, there are others who are hesitant."

When he stepped down from the dais, he privately told Dumbledore, "I can reveal that The United Kingdom is one of the Wizarding nations that wanted to retain the Statute. We have decided that the ones who abstained will retain the Statute of Secrecy, with an option to dissolve it in the future."

Dumbledore nodded sadly, "I understand. I'm disappointed, but I understand. I know how much Wizarding Britain values its traditions. My only fear is that our isolationist policies would come back to bite us."

The other wizard responded wearily, "I agree with you there, Albus."

July 4th, 1991

James and Lily Potter were relaxing at home in a comfy little cottage in east Sussex. It had been nearly 10 peaceful years since Lord Voldemort had attacked their household. On that fateful day, they had been holed up at Godric's Hollow, when the wards tripped. Then the Dark Lord himself burst in and began attacking. James bought enough time for his wife to run upstairs and set up some runic protections around her twins, Harry and Rose Potter. The battle downstairs culminated in James being knocked unconscious when Voldemort's Killing curse impacted against a conjured large concrete slab. The debris came flying back and half-buried him. When he confronted Lily, he gave her the option of stepping aside, because she was not his objective. Motherly instinct meant that she staunchly refused to budge an inch. Three times he asked her, and yet she refused.

Growing tired, he casually flicked his wand, sending her body flying to the side and knocking her unconscious after hitting the wall. Now that he was unobstructed, he glided over to the large crib that housed the twins. They had been awoken by all the noise, and just sat, staring at him. Voldemort sneered, "So, one of you is slated to be my vanquisher? How pathetic! Still, I cannot have you coming in the way of my greatness."

He stepped back and raised his wand threateningly, ready to strike. The twins hugged each other, as the dreaded beam of green light arced towards them. Then, it happened. The beam struck the embracing twins, right on Harry's arm, and suddenly ricocheted back and struck Voldemort. With a deafening screech, he poofed out of existence, leaving only two crying children, an unconscious redhead, and a tattered set of black robes, the only piece of evidence that Voldemort had visited.

About half an hour later, Lily Potter finally stirred awake, wincing as she clutched her head. Suddenly remembering what happened before she was knocked out, she yelped, "My babies!"

Her panicked green eyes flicked towards the crib, just as twin voices cried, "MAMA!", "MAMA!"

Scrambling to her feet, she hobbled over to the crib. Sure enough, both Harry and Rose were miraculously still alive. Lily scooped both of them up in her arms and peppered their faces with kisses. She gently cooed, "It's okay, loves. The bad man is gone. Mummy's here. She will protect you, she always will."

Then a faint voice called out, "Lils! Are you okay, love?!"

She gasped, "JAMES!"

Lily glanced at her children and smiled, "Strike that, Mummy and daddy will always be there to protect you!"

The young mother steadily made her way down the staircase, "We're okay, James! I think he's gone. At least, I hope so."

The next few days was a bit of a mess. The Potter parents had to confirm that Sirius Black was NOT their Secret Keeper, thus he just about avoided a nice cosy cell in Azkaban. On the bright side, there was a bit of a manhunt for Peter Pettigrew. The Potters and Sirius briefly endure a disappointed look from Dumbledore for not informing him about the switch, but he later dropped it because he understood their reasons. No one could trust each other, on the back of Peter's betrayal.

Coming to the present day, Harry and Rose Potter could barely sit still at the breakfast table, as they practically inhaled their scrambled eggs and toast. Today was the day! They were finally going to get their Hogwarts letters, and a few weeks later, they would turn 11! Lily Potter chuckled in amusement, seeing them squirming in their seats, "Settle down, you two wriggly worms. I know its all very exciting, but the owls will come in their own time!"

Sure enough, they soon heard a steady tapping sound on a nearby window. Lily flicked her wand and the window flew open, with a letter in its claws. Harry frowned, "Hang on a tick, aren't there supposed to be two?"

Rose bopped him on the head with her fork, "The letter might be addressed to both of us, you ding-dong! Saves parchment, that way."

On cue, Lily eyed her daughter as she took the letter, "Mind your language, young lady!"

She handed it to the twins and they excitedly perused its contents. They joy was then met with confusion. Rose spoke up, "Hang on... Why is it only addressed to me? Is Harry's owl late?"

James Potter looked up from where he was reading the Daily Prophet, "Let me see that!"

He took the letter and studied it carefully, all four Potters were really confused now. James got up from his seat, "I'll call Albus! Maybe he can straighten this out."

About 10 minutes later, the Floo lit up, and Albus Dumbledore stepped through. Also following him was Madam Poppy Pomfrey, the Hogwarts Matron. Straight away, the two wasted no time and began casting spells around Harry. However, after 15 minutes, Dumbledore had a sad frown, "James? Lily? I'm afraid its bad news. There seems to be a block on Harry's magic. I suspect that it happened during the attack in Godric's Hollow, something happened where his magic began suppressing young Harry's."

Harry's throat tightened in fear and he freaked out, "Oh no! Am I a Squib!? Please don't take away my memories and send me away! I'll be good! I promise!"

Everyone shot him weird looks, James burst out laughing and said, "Take away your memories and send you away?! I have never heard anything so ridiculous in my life! Harry, you are my son. Squib or not, your mother and I love you very much. Who cares if you are a Squib! Besides, who filled your little head with those ludicrous ideas!"

Harry whimpered as Rose rubbed his back, "A-at the Weasleys, I heard some horror stories from Fred and George!"

Lily's eyes glinted a little dangerously, "They did, did they? Well, I suppose Molly and I should have a word with them."

James Potter privately admitted that his wife had never looked any hotter, and was silently willing James Jr to calm down.

Meanwhile, Madam Pomfrey was conducting her own experiments, just in case they needed a second opinion. However, she also came up with the same conclusion. All the while, Dumbledore was stroking his long white beard, and then his eyes twinkled as an idea struck him. He turned to the Potter parents, "Fear not! I may have an idea!"

He proceeded to dig around in his robes, muttering away. He grumbled, "Oh dear! Where is that blasted thing! This is why I dislike wearing robes! Why did I stop wearing those suits, like I used to... Ah Ha!"

Dumbledore triumphantly fished out a device that Lily recognised as an old walkie talkie. Dumbledore explained, "I got this nifty communication device during the last war with Grindelwald. I do hope it still works, because it hasn't been used in decades."

He turned it on and spoke into it, "Hello? This is Albus Dumbledore, Codename: Warlock, Designation number 28."

A gruff voice barked, "Who is this!? There is no designation number 28, how did you hack into this frequency-"

Another voice, a female one, interrupted, "Give me that!"

There was a sound, like a scuffle, and then the female voice was back, "Albus?! Is that you? Praise Hera! It's been decades since we last spoke! Does this mean that your hiatus is lifted?! You have to come visit our new headquarters! I have a lot to tell you! We've had so many new members since you left! Jay and Rex have retired, Steve has retired from the army, and Carter and I are the only original members left."

Dumbledore laughed, "My dear Diana, I would love to catch up with you, but I'm afraid I need a small favor. You mentioned new recruits, right? Are any of them magic users, by any chance?"

Diana replied back, "Yeah, I think we can spare Doctor Fate for a bit."

"There is a small cottage in east Sussex. Here's the address."

Not even a few minutes had passed when a large bright yellow Ankh materialised outside the cottage and a figure stepped out of it, before it closed up. There was a knock on the door, and Dumbledore opened it to reveal a male figure, clad in blue and gold. His face was hidden behind a golden helm, though his blue eyes were showing and he floated inside the house. Lily Potter's eyes widened when she saw him, "Doctor Fate! Albus! You never told us that you were part of the Justice League! Or that you knew Doctor Fate!"

Dumbledore chuckled, "Well, I'm afraid I don't know Fate on a personal level, but I was part of the Justice Society of America before I voluntarily retired. Remind me to share the full story with you later. How did- Oh right... I almost forgot that you are a Muggleborn and would have been aware of the Justice League."

Doctor Fate removed his helmet to reveal an old man with slightly matted white hair, as well as a white French beard. He spoke with an American accent, "Hello there! my name is Kent Nelson! Diana told me that you needed my help with a magical matter."

Lily led him to a bemused Harry, "It's my son. According to Albus, there is some malevolent magic that is blocking Harry's own natural magic."

Nelson then put his helmet back on and began murmuring a spell. It took a few minutes before he stopped chanting and then took off his helmet. He spoke, "So I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that I cannot remove the block, nor does Nabu have the power to do so."

Suddenly, he made some intricate movements with his hands and conjured up a smaller replica of his helmet. He continued, "However, the good news is that my magic will be able to suppress the block. Young Harry will be able to access his magic, as well as that gifted by Nabu, the Lord of Order. This helmet contains a fraction of Nabu's power, and it can allow Harry to access magic. However, he can only do so while wearing the helmet. Which is why, I have a proposition for you. I would like to take Harry as my apprentice. You see, the League had an idea in mind."

A clueless James raised a hand, "Sorry, I'm a bit lost... What is the Justice League and why are you such a big deal? How are you able to practice magic in front of Muggles, threatening the Statute of Secrecy."

Dumbledore placed a hand on his shoulder, "Come with me, James. I shall explain everything. Lily, why don't you hear Doctor Fate's proposition, since you seem to be aware of the League's existence."

Lily led them to the living room and sat down on a sofa, with Harry and Rose leaning on either side of her. Kent Nelson sat on an armchair opposite her and explained, "As I was saying, the Justice League had an idea. You see, we have become public figures, over the years. Our enemies are starting to become sneakier and sneakier, operating from the shadows. Now, many Leaguers have young 'sidekicks', who have been fighting crime for years. We decided that they should form a team of their own, which will be covert. Any mission that the League cannot handle because of their public persona, the junior team will handle. Eventually, when they are older and mature enough, they may graduate to the Justice League."

It clicked for Lily, "Wait... So you want Harry to be your sidekick and fight crime?"

Kent replied crisply, "I prefer the term 'protege', but yes. I do have a number of villains and rogues, who have magic, or possess technology that mimics magic. I am getting on in years and I do not know how long I have left. The Leaguers and their sidekicks are expected to meet today, and I would like to bring young Harry. Of course, he won't be going in, completely unprepared. How would you and Harry like to come with me to my Tower of Fate? It is located on a different plane, untouched by time and space. You could spend years there, and not a second will go by in the real world. I can assure you, Harry will be trained to the best of his abilities, and for your peace of mind, you may come and watch."

He handed the smaller helmet to an awed Harry, who grasped it with trembling fingers. He breathed, "Wicked!", before donning the helmet. Sure enough, Harry was instantly transformed into a costume that was a exact replica of Fate's. Only his green eyes were visible while he was wearing the helm. He cheered, his voice sounding echoey, "This is so cool!"

By then, Dumbledore and James Potter had returned, and Lily relayed Doctor Fate's offer. With some encouragement from Dumbledore, they readily agreed. Then, the Justice League member waved his hand and the giant Ankh opened up inside the house. He gestured, "Why don't you go and pack your bags. After your training, you will be meeting the rest of the League and your future teammates. Mrs. Potter, as Harry's parent and the only one with knowledge of the League, I am extending an invitation to you as well. I have a feeling that your brand of magic may be useful to the League, as well. Oh! and one last thing! Harry, you will be needing a code name. After all, you can't go about using your real name, or any enemies could target your loved ones."

Harry was silent for a minute, and then his voice echoed from under the helmet, "Mage!"

Kent Nelson smiled behind his helmet, "Mage, it is! Warlock? would you also like to join us at the Justice League headquarters? Diana told us that you were one of the founding members of the JSA. So would you like to join us, for old time's sake? I'm sure that Wonder Woman and Hawkman would be eager to see you."

Dumbledore smiled, "Maybe some other time. After all, the school year is expected to start soon, and I am the headmaster of Hogwarts."

With that, Doctor Fate, Harry and his mother, all walked into the glowing Ankh and they soon disappeared, and the Ankh closed up behind them, leaving Dumbledore, James Potter and Rose Potter in the living room.
