Chapter 12: The End:
Cinduri's POV:
The Prince ordered a large pond built in the gardens of our new palace so that Godfather Snake could come to live near us and continue to bless our lives.
"Your stepmother," asks the Prince, "her daughter? No, no, they are not coming to live with us. I know how badly they treated you."
Once the two women had to do all their work themselves, they did it very poorly. The animals got hungry and rand away. In the garden there were more weeds than vegetables. And the house was a mess, with no fresh foods on the table.
Finally, Lata and her mother gave up on the farm and ran away to wander the countryside. "While they live as poor beggars, you will live for many thousands of happy days in the palace with your handsome prince. And someday you will be a loved and honored Queen," says Godfather.
"All because of you, dear Godfather," I said, "I thank you."
Lil's POV:
We showed Jade our makeshift house. "What's this," asks Jade.
"It's part of my adoptive inheritance," I said, "it's an anklet!"
