Staying away is exactly what Lena did. She knew Alex was right, Kara had only been nice and warm to her. And her fear drove her to be cold and cruel and it resulted in the girl getting hurt. So Lena stayed away, for the next three weeks they two only spoke when needed in their potions class. It was finally game day at Hogwarts and the first game was Gryffindor against Slytherin. The stands were filled with all four houses even though it was pouring. The skies were dark and cloudy, thunder and lightning were striking everywhere. Students were either drenched or wearing ponchos to protect themselves from the intense rain. Some were using binoculars just to be able to see what was happening in the sky.

Kara sharply pulls up beside Alex as they scan the battlefield before them. Alex looks at the score then at Kara, "We are down by 10 right now. Potter or that new keeper haven't spotted the snitch yet. It's up to us to get those points up, you ready?"

Kara nods firmly, "Yeah, clear a path for me. I'll handle the rest."

"Got it, be safe. They are playing dirty out there." Kara and Alex both shoot off towards the center weaving through the players.

"George! Pass!" Kara calls out. George Weasley tosses her the Quaffle and James appears on the opposite side of Kara matching what Alex was doing. Kara looks at Alex on her right and James on her left and nods as they fly towards the Slytherine goals.

In the stands, Winn and Nia had chosen to sit with the Gryffindor house joining the group of Hermione, Ron, and a few others. They all loudly cheered on Kara as they saw her attempt to go for a goal. On the Ravenclaw side of the stands, Sam was cheering loudly while Lena watched intensely and filled with worry.

"How can Dumbledore allow them to play in these conditions?"

Sam smiles as she watches Alex fly closely to Kara. "The teams voted to still play."

"Idiots…"

"Don't worry! Your girlfriend will be fine, she's already leading in points."

"She's not my girlfriend and of course she's leading… she's great out there." Lena says with a sigh. She grips onto the railing and leans forward a bit to look closely at Alex, Kara, and James. Her eyes widen in panic when she sees Slytherin beaters set up and wack two bludgers right at Kara. "Look out!"

Kara, Alex, and James knew Slytherine would go for the strike. Perfect bait. Kara waits for the moment the ball almost strikes to jump off her boom. At that exact moment, James dives down to catch her broom and Alex moves up to catch Kara on the back of her broom. The second ball was now aimed at Alex who stopped her broom to set herself up. She smacks it hard at the distracted keeper, knocking him down onto the ground. Kara easily throws her Quaffle into the goal tying the score. James pulls up beside them holding Kara's broom as she jumps back on it.

Kara smiles wide at the cheers of their house, "Let's go win this game."

"Hell yeah, we've got this." Alex high fives her sister and James before flying off. In the stands, Lena sits back letting out a deep breath, "I hate this game." Sam pats her head with a smile and continues to watch the game. After a few moments, her smile fades.

"Lena.."

"What?" Lena looks over at her friend and stands back up.

"Something is up." Lena looks out to the field and tries to find Kara. She sees the girl flying in loops and all over to shake the bludger that was tailing her and not letting up. The first time the bludger whoosh by Kara, the 3rd year easily dodged it. The second time however was a little harder. Soon the bludger just kept coming back and kara was now moving full speed to avoid it.

"What the hell is going on?!" Alex yelled as she flew towards Kara.

"I don't know but focus on the game, I'll lose it!" Kara yells back and changes directions.

In the stands, Winn was watching through his binoculars, "What's happening with that bludger?"

"Someone is hexing it, similar to what Dobby did last year to Harry to scare him off." Hermione stated.

"Can we just hit it?" Nia asks.

"It's too risky. We could hit Kara or someone else by accident."

Kara was getting upset as she continued to move at full speed. Many times the bludger has almost struck her, she needed to get rid of it quickly. Slytherin's seeker zooms past Kara and when she looks over her shoulder, she sees the snitch flying up into the sky. She dodges the bludger once again before following the seeker, bludger once again on her trail.

"Harry! Up!" Harry spots Kara and the Slytherin seeker, he shoots upwards quickly catching up and now his eyes are on the snitch.

"I'll get the snitch, keep going up, the bludger will give up soon from the cold!" As Harry spoke, the sound of thunder filled the sky and lightning struck down hitting the Slytherin player sending him down to the ground. Kara and Harry's eyes widened when they looked at one another but didn't stop their pursuit. As they continued to fly higher and higher, the temperature dropped drastically, crystals started to appear on the tip of their brooms and goggles.

"What's happening?!" Kara yells.

"I don't know!" Harry replies as he reaches out for the snitch that was so close. Lightning strikes down again near Kara hitting the bludger following her. Kara looks behind her and cheers, "It's gone!"

When she turns to look ahead, she is met with an open mouth of a dementor that looks like an endless dark abyss. Kara feels something be pulled from her body and she instantly feels weak, cold, and like death. The sensation stunned her but she was able to fly away from it.

"Harry! Where are you?!" She calls out as she starts dodging the swarm of dementors. Up ahead she sees a dementor attacking Harry, Kara tried to rush towards Harry but the boy was already falling off his broom towards the ground at a fast speed. "Harry!" Kara soars straight down but another dementor appears in front of her pulling at her life force causing Kara to swirl around it. Her vision was fuzzy, head light like she couldn't breathe but she didn't stop charging towards Harry. Another one appears again pulling at her force and everything fades to black for Kara causing her to fall off her broom.

After the Slytherin student had fallen and was saved by Professor Snape, Dumbledore stopped the game and commanded everyone head back to their houses. Students started to file out as the teachers assisted, some of the students remained in their seats still waiting to see where Harry and Kara were.

"Where the hell is she?" Lena asked Sam as they looked up waiting for a sign. Alex was panicking, she tried to fly up after her sister but Professor Dumbledore grounded everyone. Sam looks down at Alex who is pacing back and forth, she sees James try to stop by but the older Danvers sister just shoves him away.

"Harry!" A scream is heard from Hermione that gets everyone's attention including Dumbledore's. When Dumbledore turns around he sees Harry from the sky, he calls out a spell stopping Harry from crashing into the ground. Not a moment later, his broom splatters onto the ground. The student rushed towards Harry to check on him but Alex remained where she was looking up for Kara.

"Kara!" Alex yells.

Lena's hand shoots out, holding her wand and she performs a spell that allows Kara to softly glide down to the grass. Alex turns to see Lena performing the spell that saved her sister and gives her a nod saying thank you before going by Kara's side. Hermione, Ron, Sam, Lena, James and a few others were surrounding Harry and Kara.

"I know you are all very concerned for your friends but right now they need to be treated. Alex you can be with Kara since you are family but for Harry, Hermione or Ron you can choose between you both." Lupin says as he waves his wand and both Harry and Kara are levitated back towards the castle.

"I'll go," Hermione says as Ron starts to gather the pieces of their brooms. "Get me when he wakes," Ron says.

Two hours pass before either student wakes in the infirmary. "Kara?" Alex stands from her chair, still wearing her Gryffindor uniform, and rushes over to the side of Kara's bed.

Kara sits up slowly letting out a low groan from the soreness she was feeling in her body. "Hey.. did we win?"

Alex chuckled, fixing Kara's hair, "No, Dumbledore stopped the game once the keeper from Slytherin fell off his broom.

"We didn't win?" Harry speaks as he turns his head towards Kara and Alex. Kara smiles over at him, happy to see he was okay.

"You two are attacked by Dementors and only care about the game? Ridiculous, honestly." Hermione says with a shake of her head as she walks over with the nurse. The nurse helps Harry sit up and check both his and Kara's temperature before giving them both some medicine.

Once the nurse left, Alex said on Kara's bed and leaned in a bit, "Hey, really though, are you okay? You scared me out there.." Kara smiles, taking her sisters hand and giving it a firm squeeze.

"I'm okay. I can't lie and say I wasn't scared up there. There were so many of them up there and they just kept sucking the life out of me and then I heard this woman scream and I-"

"You did?! I heard a scream too right before everything went black. I was worried it was you," Harry explains.

"It wasn't me, so who was screaming?"

Hermione shrugs, "I don't know. Ron told me Dumbledore is upset. The dementors should not have been that close to us. Speaking of Ronald, let me go get him." Hermione heads to the main entrance of the infirmary and pokes her head out. In a blink of an eye a crowd of students entered the infirmary to check up on Harry and Kara.

"Harry! Kara! You guys are okay! We were all really worried about you two," Ron says with a smile.

"Yeah poor Ron here was crying for hours," Fred said with a chuckle.

"I was not…"

Winn rushes over to Kara and gives her a hug, "You had us so worried." Kara smiles, hugging him back and reaching her hand out to James who gave it a light squeeze.

"I'm sorry for scaring you all, I'm okay though. Thanks for waiting till I woke up."

"Of course, we would have all stayed up for you guys."

"Thanks guys, bummed to hear we didn't win," Harry said.

"Right- um.. About that. So um, you guys were falling really fast and well we weren't able to save your brooms." George says as he and Dean walk forward holding the scraps of their broomsticks.

"Crap," Kara sighs as she reaches out for her broken broom handle.

"It's okay, we'll get you another, what matters is that you are okay." Alex says with a small nudge.

"Yeah you're right… Who saved us anyway?" Kara asked.

"Dumbledore was able to catch Harry and Lena is the one who saved you, Kara," Hermione answered.

"Lena? Lena saved me?"

"Yeah, she was worried the whole game about you," Sam adds as she moves to stand next to Alex.

"Oh.." Kara smiles softly and looks up, noticing Lena wasn't amongst all of them, "Where is she?"

"Oh, Detention. Professor Snape is making her organize all the ingredients in his class."

"Detention? What for?"

Sam chuckles, "She found out who was sending that bludger after you, turns out it was Rojas. Lena performed a nasty jinx on her. Rojas is going to be smelly and hairy for at least two weeks."

"What?!" Alex exclaims, "It was fucking Rojas! I'm gonna kill that b-"

"Alex, language.. I hate when you curse." Kara says.

"Down Danvers, Lena handled it plus she said it's better she's punished than you cause Kara would need you when she woke," Sam turns to Kara, "She said she hopes you are okay."

"Thanks." Kara says with a smile. After about 20 more minutes of hanging out, the nurses inform all of them it's time to go back to their dorms. Harry and Kara are welcome to stay the night as a precaution and Alex tells them both to stay, Captain's orders. Kara waits a few more minutes before she gets out of bed and exits the infirmary. Kara headed straight to the potions classroom hoping Lena would still be there. When she arrived, Lena was shutting the door to the classroom. Lena turned around and froze when she saw Kara standing before her still in her Quidditch uniform.

"Kara.. what are you doing here? You should be resting."

Kara rushes towards Lena and wraps her arms around her neck hugging her tightly. "Thank you."

Lena was frozen in place, she knew she should hug Kara back but should she? Would that be okay? Lena slowly brings her hands up and hugs Kara back, "I- it was nothing. I'm just happy you are okay… you are okay right?"

Kara nods as she pulls back with a soft smile. "Yeah, just sore and bummed about my broom."

"Right, I'm sorry I couldn't save that too."

"Don't apologize for that, I'll get another. You saved my life, I owe you one."

"Kara…" Lena looks down at her feet then back up into those blue orbs. "You don't owe me anything. I'm sorry, so sorry. Sorry for how I've been treating you, sorry for how I spoke to you in class and sorry you got hurt. That was my fault. I had no right to treat you that way."

"Why did you..?"

"I- that's hard for me to talk about…"

Kara crosses her arms over her chest, she was not going to move or change the topic without an answer. "I think as the receiver of that treatment I have the right to know what I did wrong."

Lena steps towards Kara shaking her head, "Kara you did nothing wrong. I was spiraling in my own head about being friends with you."

"You don't want to be friends? Is it really that bad of a thought..?" Kara couldn't mask the hurt in her voice and Lena was sure her heart broke a bit. Lena steps right in front of Kara and takes her hand in hers.

"I want nothing more than to be your friend Kara. I just- I don't think I deserve someone like you. And it's safer for you if I wasn't your friend."

Kara looked down at their hands and felt butterflies erupt at once, "I think you do deserve more friends. You seem nice, Sam speaks highly of you too. Everyone deserves to have people who care for them and love them. And your concern about danger? We are surrounded by Dementors because a serial killer is on the loose. I think I can handle whatever comes with being your friend. I'm a big girl Lena, I can handle it."

"Kara- my family is different okay. They-"

"I don't care. They aren't here except Lex. If he has a problem with our friendship, he can deal with Alex." Kara says with a smile. "I-I like you Lena. I want to get to know you more."

Lena didn't expect to swallow so hard when she heard Kara say she likes her. "I like you too, that's why I'm so scared."

Kara shrugs, "Don't be. Plus, they wouldn't call them risk if there wasn't any fear attached. Take a risk with me."

Lena bites her lip as she contemplates what Kara is saying. She notices Kara's eyes drop to her lips and she can't help the smirk that appears. "Okay, I'll take the risk with you… I am sorry Kara about everything.."

"I know, I forgive you. But Alex may not be so good luck with that."

Lena sighs with a smile, "Yeah I figured that. I'll work on Alex. Are you heading to your dorm?"

"Yeah, my bed is better than the nurses. Walk me?"

Lena nods with a smile and tries to hide the blush appearing on her cheeks when Kara takes her hand as they walk through the halls. The two took their sweet time walking through the halls talking about the game, class, and other random facts Kara would bring up. Lena knew having Kara as a friend did mean they needed to be careful. Even more so, because of the growing feelings she was having for the girl.
