"Mother."

Violet hated their mother.

They used to love her. She was a wonderful person. She protected them from Navy, kept the roof over their heads as long as she could, and did everything a real mother should.

Now, they were only looking at a husk of what was the person they'd looked up to the most.

That person had been replaced with Mango, and then she'd taken him away too.

They hated their mother.

"You know, I'm surprised you actually came back! So far out at sea, no family or friends to return to, nobody to help you...such a shame."

Violet snarled. "I wonder why I don't anyone to come back to."

They felt the presence of someone behind them.

"Yeah..."

Hands grabbed at their arms, and the familiar, yet unfamiliar, feeling told them who it was.

"...I wonder."

Chaos erupted after that.

Dark and Second immediately jumped at Mango, but were thrown back.

Purple grabbed the shard Mango had tried to take from Violet, but dropped, and bolted away.

Mango tackled him anyway.

Shit.

"Dad, wait-!"

Mango froze for a brief moment after Violet had shouted, which gave Purple an opening to escape. Scrambling out from underneath Mango, Purple dashed out of the library and up to the roof.

He'd been lucky enough to remember the way. It'd been a while since he'd been in that base(since before he'd ended up in The Great Above), but he remembered the way from the time he had been in there.

Jumping onto the roof, Purple glanced around before eventually glancing at the machine he knew for a fact he'd destroyed.

Orchid must have stopped Violet from destroying it.

Orchid flew out of the building, higher than the roof, and an explosion sounded from behind Purple.

"Oh fuck-"

"Not so fast!"

Someone tackled Orchid just before she could attack him.

Chosen.

"I know your not our Purple, but-"

"I know the feeling. I'll get Violet, you hold her down."

"Gotcha."

Nice work.

Let's just hope everything else is going according to plan.

"Dad, please! It's me, remember?!"

Never-fucking-mind.

Fuck.

Come on, Mango.

I know your in there.

"Come on, please! I know your in there, I need you to listen to me!"

Mango jumped at them again. Violet dodged it as best they could, putting a table between the two.

"Dad! Please! Listen to me! It's Violet, remember?! I admired you! Looked up to you! You let me stay with you because I had nowhere else to go! Yes, you betrayed and then tried to kill me, but I never stopped looking up to you! Remember?!

Why isn't it working?!

It's worked before!

At least for me, but why can't it work for him?!

"Remember? Your my family? We're family! Your there when I need you!"

Please just work!

I need you to come back!

I need you...

"Please? Come back? I'm sorry for leaving you, but I didn't have a choice. If you think I'm the reason your like this...I'm sorry. I didn't mean for any of this to happen, I was just trying to keep you safe. I can't lose you. Please! I love you.."

The table stopped moving, and a scream sounded from above them.

"Violet, look out!"

Mango?!

Violet's vision went black.

Mango blinked.

What the hell just happened.

The room fell silent.

Someone screamed from above him.

"Violet, look out!"

Mango instinctively jumped, glancing around for any sign of his child.

Nothing.

Then the table flew overhead, and something crashed into him.

An unconscious body.

Mango blinked, every single part of his body freezing once he realized who it was.

"Violet!"

Mango grabbed the child's form, checking them over for any signs of life.

A pulse.

Thank fucking GOD-

"Vi, wake up! Please! Come on, kid! Wake up!"

Violet stirred just slightly.

"Flower? Hey, come on, you gotta wake up, okay? Wake up?"

Another crash, and Mango cradled the small body as close to him as he could.

A part of him relaxed when Violet's hand grabbed at his arm.

"..Dad...?"

Thank you, God.

"Hey, kid."

Violet tackled him into the tightest hug they could manage with what little strength they did have.

"Dad!"

Mango sighs in relief, running a hand through Violet's hair. "Your okay, kid, your okay. I'm here, I got you."

Violet clings onto his shirt, sobbing.

"Dad..."

"I know, I'm sorry...I'm so sorry you had to go through this."

"Never. Never do that again."

"I won't, I promise."

Mango can only hold his kid tighter.

"It's gonna be okay, flower. I promise."

I just hope I can keep it this time.

Something wraps around Violet's waist and violently yanks them out of his grasp.

"VIOLET!"

In an instant, Violet's counterpart is thrown to the ground.

"Jesus christ-"

Green appears next to Mango, already staring at the counterpart. "Uhm..."

"It's a long story. Violet will explain it once we get them down."

"And how do we do that?!"

A few moments pass with Purple staring at the ground, lost in thought.

"Purple, get down!"

Purple blinks for a second before Dark tackles him to the ground.

The group blinks as an energy ball comes between the two groups.

"Holy crap."

"Everyone alright?" Mango asked, slowly helping Green to his feet.

"I would be if someone wasn't trying to kill me!"

"Fair."

"Someone get Violet down!" Blue shouted from behind them.

Purple instinctively flew upwards to grab them, but was blasted backwards.

Mango's parental instincts caught him before the ground did.

"Hands off my kid!" He snapped.

I just got them back, damn it all if I lose them again.

"Violet!"

The back of Violet's shirt was in Orchid's hands, and they were hanging above the jagged rocks and unforgiving waves below. "One wrong move, and your little friend here is history."

Purple froze. "Violet!"

Violet glanced back at him.

Orchid cackled. "Don't worry, Mango, I won't let him fall! I'm not a monster!"

A ViraBand made it's way into her hand. "Well...eh, what the hell?"

The next few minutes pass by in a blur for Mango. Violet is violently crashed into him, and all he can really see is purple particles flying around everywhere.

Green and the others are panicking, calling for Mango, or someone, to do something. Purple has straight vanished from sight, not that that matters.

Probably off to take care of Orchid.

When Mango finally is able to focus on something, he chooses to focus on Violet.

"Violet!"

A yellow crash from above them, and everything's going so fast, Mango can't register a thing.

Everything explodes into a blinding light before turning black.

Purple only feels the concrete below him when he finally wakes up, which is what sends him flying back into reality.

Pushing himself back up, he waits for someone to crash into him.

It never comes.

The blue sky and familiar landscape around him is what starts flowing his memory.

"Am I...?"

He'd stopped Orchid from killing Violet, and then...

Was he?

An explosion from above, and Gold's shouts fill the area.

"Shit, shit, shit!"

Yep.

He was back.

Thank fucking Becker.

"Fuck yes."

Let's just get this over with, apologize to King, and pray to God this all goes smoothly.

Purple grabs the ViraBand from his bag, carefully placing it around his wrist, before tightening the ponytail around his braid.

"Okay, Purple. You've done this before, you can do it again.

You. Can. Do. This."
