"Oh, yes. You will do wonders for what I have planned."
Purple watched the others escape while they had the chance before flying upwards and towards the forest where the scream had originated.
His first thought had been to check the sky dome, but it was so far across town, and the scream was so close, Purple was sure it hadn't been there.
And Purple had just come from the skydome, too! There was nothing there when he woke up, so why would there have been something now?
Landing in front of the green building, Purple pushed away vines and tried searching for a door.
The lab was never a great place for him. He'd been stuck there for who the hell knew how long, and it had been straight hell.
Every day he spent there, he spent it thinking of how the hell he was going to get out.
...And that was enough thinking about being stuck in a cell for seven weeks. He was out of there. And he wanted to stay out of there.
Taking a step inside the abandoned laboratory, Purple took small glances around the small area at the front, thinking there was something there.
Nothing.
"Suppose that's a good thing, Purple. That just means nobody's gonna ambush you...hopefully."
Taking another couple of steps inside, Purple watched the lighted spaces around him before realizing he had a phone.
Thank Becker you didn't end up falling into the water.
Turning his flashlight on, Purple winced at the overgrowth and moss surrounding the area, but continued, watching the ground beneath him.
If there was someone in here, it was best to sneak up on them instead of dying young.
(Although he'd done that enough.)
"Come on, Purple. One foot in front of the other. There's nothing in here that can kill you right now. Everything's going to be just fine."
I hope.
No. Don't think that.
Everything is going to be fine.
Purple eyed the small openings in the walls around him. Cells. Lots of them. Almost as if Navy had been planning to take his friends.
Or citizens. Use them as experiments.
Navy had always been a nerd when it came to science. Whatever the reason for the ungodly amount of cells in the lab, Purple knew it was for science.
He reached the door at the end of the corridor. The last door that stood between him and his potential death.
He drew in a breath.
We either die or we live.
There's no in between.
That may or may not have been the last time you see King. Or your friends.
No matter what, you fight.
"Let's fucking do this."
Pushing against the door, Purple let the light from his flashlight fill the dark room.
Aside from the green, lush plants overtaking every bit of technology in the room, there really wasn't anything that stood out.
No Mocha, or anyone threatening to jump out and attack.
With that somewhat relieving bit of information, Purple took a few more steps into the room, glancing at the security cameras, only giving static. Not a lot of light.
Glancing at the controls below, Purple's curiosity got the better of him.
Pressing a button, the cameras sprang to life.
"Holy shit, you still work."
"Huh. Thought there'd be more in here."
A voice crackled to life, and Purple jumped.
"Shit-"
An energy ball was blasted at the wall, but there was nobody.
Another bit or crackling static, and Purple realized the voice had only been a recording.
Now that he thought about it, the voice did sound a little bit familiar.
Dark?
Glancing upwards, Purple realized he'd reminded some of the footage.
Footage from earlier that day.
"I highly doubt any of this works still." Copper muttered, brushing a hand over some of Navy's controls.
Gold pressed a button, before blinking at the bright lights. "OW!"
"Never-fucking-mind."
King pressed another button, revealing the working security cameras.
"Holy shit, how do these still work?"
"Not sure. Maybe someone else has been keeping these specifically up and running?"
"But how? The only people we know would have access to these are Navy, Orchid, Fern, Night Shade, Amber, and maybe you and Purple if you'd hacked into them." King said.
"Which begs the question." Dark answered to him.
"What happened to Amber after the battle?"
Purple watched the group talk to each other before the video cut out, the audio following it.
What did happen to Amber?
He didn't remember having to deal with her much during the final battle, or at any time before that.
What had happened to her?
Pressing another button, Purple fast-forwarded through some of the footage, trying to find anything else he could use.
Our a while, it was King and the others arguing and investigating, before they left, and someone else entered the frame, dragging an unconscious body with them.
"What the fuck?"
Purple took another glance around the room, discovering a small pile of blankets, pillows, medical supplies, and blood.
"Double what the fuck."
Another bit of crackling static turned his attention away from the pile.
This time, light from the other television sets gave Purple enough light to see who was on screen.
Amber and Mocha.
"Shit, shit, shit-"
"Welcome back to the real world."
"Who in haven are you?"
"Let's just say, an old friend of your son," The figure said, taking another step towards her.
"Gold?"
"Exactly who."
Amber stared at the figure. "And what exactly do you want?"
"Well..." The figure glanced over at the security cameras, the only thing lighting up the room. "I need your help in taking care of a couple...parasites."
"Fuck..."
An explosion from behind him. Purple jumped, blasting an energy ball at them.
"Nice try, little flower." The figure said in any tone but a sweet one.
The nickname only gave Purple the reminder of who they were going after.
Stay away from King, you bastards.
"But I don't think you'll be going anywhere for a long while."
The figure whizzed past him, something sharp and painful dug into him.
And Purple's vision went black.
The figure stared down at the disintegrating body in front of them, snatching the hairpin from him and twirling it between their fingers.
"Let's just see your adoptive father handle this."
