Chapter Twenty Three: Epilogue

Kara's POV

Standing by our family crypt, I thought about the past 50 years. Time has flown by and so much has happened. Lena sold L-Corp and came to work full time at the D.E.O., I took over Miss Grant's position for a few decades and now work full time at the D.E.O. outside of Supergirl duties, and we've watched Ruby grow up and start her own family outside of the original Super Friends. My eyes fell on the nameplate we would add to every time someone passed. The first ones being Eliza, Jeremiah, and Alex. Gosh, I miss you both so much. I'm glad we all agreed to have this family vault. It makes sure we can all stay together in a central place. I chuckled thinking about the day we decided to add Lex and Lillian. I'm surprised they didn't find a way to haunt us from beyond the grave.

"I miss them too," Lena wrapped her arms around me from behind. "I'm glad we have this place to visit everyone."

Leaning into the brunette's warm embrace, I sighed. "Me too. It's been over a decade but I still miss Alex so much. I know Sam, Ruby, and J'onn do too. She was a daughter to him."

"You are too," she paused. "At least they're together again. I know Eliza and Jeremiah welcomed Alex with open arms into whatever afterlife there is." With a wave of Lena's hand, all the leaves were swept away from the crypt and the nameplate shined like new. "Are you ready for today's ceremony?"

Taking a deep breath, I laced my fingers into Lena's. "With you by my side, yes."

"Then let's get changed. Everyone is waiting for us," Lena kissed my cheek before launching into the air.

As we neared National City Park, both of us were stunned at how many people showed up. Finding Ruby, Nia, Sam, J'onn, and Brainy in the crowd, we all made our way towards the stage. "Are you two ready for this?" Ruby asked.

"As ready as we'll ever be," Lena hugged our, now, gray haired God Daughter. "None of us know what Cat said on the recording she did before her passing. Just that she demanded it be played on the anniversary of The Alien Amnesty Act when we felt safe enough to tell the world who we were."

"It'll be weird hearing her voice again," I laughed. "If we didn't play it, I'm sure she would haunt us from the grave."

"Oh, most definitely," Nia chuckled. "You'll have to tell us how Argo was. We missed you guys!"

"It was a blast. They didn't want Lena and I to leave," I shrugged. "Everyone sends their love."

Music began to play as the President of the United States and National City's Mayor came to stand behind each podium. During their speeches, the crowd roared with approval of the Act and all the good it has done over the decades. Picking up on my nerves, Lena took my hand in hers. "Are you sure you're ready for this?"

"I am," I smiled. "It happens at some point. Why not let it begin with us?"

"El Mayarah," Lena smiled.

"Always." Dipping my head, I kissed Lena softly.

The speeches ended and a large projection screen started to appear. "Hello, National City. Did you miss me?" Warmth filled my chest seeing Miss Grant again. Sitting behind her desk for the last time. "While I am long dead, did you really think your Queen of Media would miss this monumental occasion? Who better to introduce the women behind the capes?" As if she were here, Miss Grant paused for applause. "I had the opportunity to introduce National City to Supergirl when she first started. Now, I get to introduce you to her and her amazing wife."

"Here we go," Lena whispered, taking my hand. As instructed in her will, we made our way onto the stage in our uniforms. The President and The Mayor shook our hands.

"Many of you know them as Supergirl and The Glas Chaileach. Glas for short. She refused to let me call her Green Witch." Miss Grant pausd for laughter. "I was privileged to know them as CatCo's spunkiest reporter who climbed the corporate ladder all the way to CEO, Kara Danvers, and L-Corp's CEO and founder of The Lena Luthor Foundation, Lena Luthor." Turning off our image inhibitors, a new, louder, roar overtook the crowd. "Over the years, these two, along with their friends, have kept this city safe from all types of invaders. We owe them more than we could ever know. From the bottom of my corpse of a heart, I thank the two of you and the rest of your group who have kept us safe all of these years with little to no thanks."

After a few words, the Mayor honored us with peace metals. Hand in hand, Lena and I stood as media outlets and civilians took pictures and videos. Miss Grant's recording ended with the House of El symbol merged with The Lena Luthor Foundation symbol. Underneath it read: Stronger Together.

A/N: Thank you to everyone who read, liked, and reviewed this story. Lena's Superhero name Glas Chaileach translates to Green Witch in Irish. I know it's a bit on the nose but it sounded cool to me. I couldn't very well go with The Pendragon. Haha.
