Jason and the Argonauts

The tale of a young Greek hero and his crew who go on a quest to find the legendary Golden Fleece. They have many adventures together before finally returning to Greece with the Fleece.

1. Chapter 1 - Iolcus

Chapter 1: Iolcus:

Hera's Story:

After the death of King Cretheus, the Aeolian Pelias usurped the throne from his half-brother Aeson and became king of Iolcus in Thessaly. Because of this, an oracle approached him.

"I warn you," says the Oracle, "a descendant of Aeolus would seek revenge!"

So, he had every descendant of Aeolus killed, except for Aeson, because of the pleas of their mother, Tyro!

Instead, Pelias kept Aeson prisoner and forced him to renounce his inheritance.

. . .

Aeson married Alcimede, who bore him a son named Jason. Pelias intended to kill the baby at once, but Alcimede summoned her kinswomen to weep over him as if he were stillborn. She faked a burial and smuggled the baby to Mount Pelion.

Jason was then raised by Chiron, the trainer of Heroes!
