Chapter 2: Memories

Honerva sighs but straightens. She will find Lotor and Voltron. The universe is at an imbalance without them. "I will find you both."

Memories flash of her and Zarkon prepping for the arrival of Lotor. How excited they both were to have a child, a child that would unite their kingdoms and be the best of the Galra and Altea peoples. Which is why they chose the name Lotor, to remind them of Kaltor a Galran who conquered worlds and Lotarius an Altean believed to have established how the Alteans functioned until their… destruction. A name that honored both traditions. Both parts of themselves that they were giving to their baby. Tears fall from her eyes and she wishes she could have remained the hopeful mother she was before Quintessence severely blinded her until she no longer knew who Honerva. But only Haggar.

She remembers sharply the misdeeds she caused him, the torture she put him through. It breaks her heart. Hearing the door open she puts on her cloak and changes her skin. Quickly wiping away the tears she turns to face the Druid who disturbed her.

"Have you any word from Commander Mars?" She asks.

"Nothing High Priestess. Communication with him has been lost." replies the Druid.

"And what of Voltron and Emperor Lotor's whereabouts?"

"Still nothing."

Sadness and fear take hold of her heart. "Then set a course for Daibazzal. I want to find out what happened there and see if I can piece anything together."

The druid bows, "As you wish High Priestess."

The name stings, as it only reminds even more of what she has done as Haggar. Haggar was no High Priestess; her Altean Alchemy abilities came from those inspeid Rift creatures that made the Quintessence poisoning worse even though they healed her and expanded her life span.

But they made her blind to her past life, to Honerva and now she's paying the price for it. Her son and the only means of peace throughout the universe is missing. Gone, Lost. She should have been there, found a way to seal up those rifts without Voltron and her son having to pay the price for what Zethrid did.

When they reach Daibazzal a wave of memories overwhelms her to the point she has to grab the dashboard for support. Memories of her research of her, spending time with Zarkon, talking about the bright future they wanted for Daibazzal and Altea. The memories made her heart ache and long for that bright future they wanted. Raising Lotor together as parents. But instead they made a dark future for the universe and enslaved most of it during ten thousand years.

The only thing that could stop them was Voltron. Her heart aches even more at the loss of Voltron. She didn't want them to disappear along with her son. She wanted them to bring peace to the fractured universe so she could finally try to make up for what she has done. But it will never be enough, will it?
