Brightly shines the sun, reflecting its powerful light from the sandy canyon back into the air. Luckily the wind is cool, making it a perfect day to be outside. The canyon is quiet, just the sound of a lone cockroach echoes through. That isn't the case for long though, as rumbling starts echoing louder as it moves through the canyon. This isn't a rumble nature wouldn't care much about. This rumbling is something the entire area by now is very used to, yet is very afraid of. Because the rumbling isn't a simple thunderstorm or a rockslide a future flood could wash away, this rumble was the rumble of three horses everyone knew to watch out for. Because these three horses were Spirit, Chica Linda and Boomerang, not forgetting their riders: Lucky, Pru and Abigail. If you haven't seen the show, which i can understand given this series lives further than the shadows of the 2002 spirit stallion of the cimarron movie, you don't need to understand the series completely to read this story, I purposely wrote it so it is understandable for everyone, enjoy the story :).

'I don't understand where chicken neck canyon got its name from, it's not a canyon, and there aren't even chickens!' Abigail commented as her and her friends galloped towards Miradero. 'I told you we should've gone to Floating Oaks, places with funny names never live up to its name.' Pru responded. 'You can't know if you've never tried.' Abigail defended herself. 'Ah come on Pal's.' Lucky interrupted. 'We can still go to Pitchfork Canyon tonight. I heard there could be a lot of falling stars tonight.'

'Isn't punta libere better for that?' Pru asked. Lucky shook her head in response. 'No, ever since Maricela revealed it to the entire youth of Miradero you can't watch stars in peace there anymore.' Abigail nodded in response. 'I can't wait, last time I only got to wish for one thing on my wish list, and I have added more wishes to the list since.' Lucky laughed in happiness. 'Sounds like a plan then.' Pru also nodded showing her approval. The girls followed the railway back towards Miradero, spotting a train standing there. 'We just missed the race.' Pru commented as the girls approached the train station. 'Wait.' Pru suddenly said, all three horses stopping in a matter of seconds. Lucky and Abigail looked at Pru confusedly. Pru staring at the train station they just passed. 'Why are we stopping?' Lucky asked. 'I think these are the new town members.' Pru said, looking at an adult male, woman and two teenagers put their luggage in a horse cart, helped by Pru's dad. 'How do you know?' Abigail asked. 'My dad said the new house they built at the edge of town was finished and would soon finally see the new owners, he said he would see if he could help them move in once he knew when they would arrive.' Pru explained. The girls watching the final luggage being put into the kart. 'That girl seems our age.' Abigail commented. 'And that boy can't be much older.' Pru added.

'This is exciting, it's the first time I'm not the new kid in town.' Lucky said. 'Let's hope they make a better first impression than you did.' Pru joked, the pal's laughing in response. 'Oh you in that pink wide dress, I have never seen anything like it.' Abigail commented as she continued laughing. 'I was a marshmallow with feet, I'm happy that I don't have that dress anymore.' Lucky said. 'The day Maricela wears that dress will be the best day of my life.' Pru commented. 'Pal's, can we go now, else I'll be late for dinner, and then I am stuck with Snips for a long time, because he is grounded for the entire month.' Abigail asked desperately. The pal's continuing to the barn. 'How did he pull that off?' Pru asked curiously.

'Letting sir carrots loose in both my and my parents' room as a distraction so he could eat all the cookies will do that.' Abigail revealed. 'He had to clean up all the messes and buy new cookies which he is not allowed to eat. It was pretty much worth it.'

The Pal's arrived at the stable, where Pru's dad was standing with the boy they saw earlier, next to the boy stood a horse. It was a brown horse with a dark brown mane. Its fur from the knees to the hoof was very light coloured, almost white. Around its nose and mouth some dark brown skin. The boy was petting the horse as he talked to Pru's dad, the horse playfully pushing the boy around a little with its big head.

'Hi there dad, what are you up to?' Pru asked her dad, all three pal's getting off their horses. 'Hi there girls, I'm showing your new stall mate and its owner around.' Al responded. 'Are you three some of the locals here?' The boy asked. 'Yeah, that's us.' Pru said confidently. 'I'm Pru, the one on the wild horse is lucky and the one on the dancing horse is Abigail.'

'That's a smart way to remember who is who.' The boy responded. 'I'm Henry. I'm here with my parents and younger sister, we just moved in.'

'Nice to meet you Henry.' Abigail responded.

'What about your sister, does she have a horse with her?' Pru asked. Henry shook his head. 'No, she doesn't ride, yet.' Henry responded. Pru laughed in response. 'I remember someone else once telling me and Abigail that she had never been on a horse before. Pru hitting Lucky softly with her elbow. Lucky laughed. 'Yeah, are you from the city?'

'Yeah, we move around a lot, I adjust pretty quickly, my sister has a little more trouble with that. But this is the first time out of the city for us. I'm very interested in how it is like here, so is my buddy Tundra, I'm sure he'll love the free space. The city is a very overstimulating place for a horse and very restricting, here he is much more free to do as he wishes.' Henry said, smiling as he looked at his surroundings. 'Spirit feels the same.' Lucky responded as she scratched Spirit behind his ear. 'What actually brings your family to Miradero?' Pru wondered. 'It's not like this is someone's first choice location to move to unless you own the railway.'

'Good question.' Henry responded. 'It's mainly my dad who decides where we go, he's very adventurous and has big dreams. He has a burn out now because of these years of dream chasing, so he wanted to get away from the city.' 'Wait, so you have no idea when you will move away again? That must be hard.' Abigail realised. 'Yeah, it's why my sister Sophia at this point has given up on making new friends. But I am trying to convince her to explore more now that we are here. I think she likes this environment way more than the city. There is a chance we are staying here much longer than usual as well, I don't want her to be lonely.' Henry explained.

'She is our age, we can try to get to know her.' Pru responded. 'Possibly.' Henry responded. 'You have to be slow with her though, it takes time for her to trust people.'

'Oh don't worry, we know that first impressions can be deceiving.' Pru said jokingly.

'Ha ha, I will never ever allow Aunt Cora to choose my dress ever again.' Lucky responded. Henry laughed in response. 'It was nice meeting you three, and I really hope Sophia will find her place here. I must go home now or else my family will think I already got lost in the canyons. See you later.' Henry said enthusiastically before he walked away. 'See you around!' Abigail responded.

At Henry's house

Sophia sat down on the stairs of the front porch, it had a nice view. The town is clearly visible, high hills on the left and forest on the right, the quietness calming her down. She smiles as she sees her brother take the long walk from the barn all the way up the small hill towards the house. 'One walk to town and back and you've already completed all your steps for the day.' Sophia joked as her brother arrived at the house. 'Haha, I really enjoy it though, this place is so quiet and peaceful, I bet you agree?' Henry responded, Sophia nodding in response. 'You are back quick, I thought setting up the stall for Tundra would take longer, at least in the city it does.' Sophia realised. 'The barn owner was so nice to set up the stall for Tundra, including hay and everything, so my hard work begins later this week.' Henry responded. 'That is nice of him.' Sophia said, grabbing a blade of grass and fidgeting with it. 'Actually, there were three girls there too, they are exactly your age. Maybe they can show you around, there is a lot to discover around here I can tell.' Henry advised his younger sister. Sophia sighed, 'I don't know.' She responded. Henry sat down next to Sophia on the front porch. 'Look, we are going to be here for a long time, if you are going to spend that entire time alone there will be a point you won't like it anymore. I think this peaceful place is an amazing place for you. And who knows, maybe we can stay here.'

'Don't feed me hope, we never stay forever.' Sophia responded. She leaned her head on her knees, arms crossed. 'Sophia, I'm just trying to help you. 'Give this place, and the people, a chance. If you don't have a reason to do it then do it for me.' Henry responded, looking Sophia in the eyes. 'Please?'

Sophia rolled her eyes. 'We'll see what happens okay.' She responded. 'Yes!' Henry exclaimed, jumping around, dancing very badly. 'That isn't a no.' He said as he continued dancing badly until he disappeared through the front door into the house. Sophia laughed at the silliness of her brother and quickly ran after him.
