Hurley agrees to team up with the monster and both group unite, the entire beach camp is shocked at seeing both Charlie and Aaron and immediately tries to talk to him Hurley hugs him and exclaims "dude your alive, how in God's name are you alive and with Aaron".
Charlie says, "well Locke saved me from Desmond's visions, and I been here ever since".
Jack asks, "why did you leave camp, why did you never come back".
Charlies answers "I don't know how I left camp, I remember I was up feeding Aaron and then blank. I then awake in a Cabin with Locke but looking like your dad and he tells me that he saved me and not going to die anymore, and if I help him; he'll bring back Claire".
Jack asks, "save you from what".
Hurley answers "Desmond's visions. They were apparently all about Charlie's death and Charlie was fated to die, that was until the one about Naomi and the helicopter the night he left".
Charlie then says "I tried to come back as soon as I awoke but saw no one at beach camp and heard that everyone had just left. So, it's been me and Aaron alone all this time".
The monster interrupts and talks to Jack about his plan for them to leave altogether. The next morning while Charlie is getting breakfast for him and Aaron. Sawyer informs Hurley about the submarine and Hurley replies "he's got a submarine".
Sawyer whisper shouts "keep your voice down, damn it. Yeah, Widmore's got a sub. We use it to get off this rock".
Hurley asked, "are we going to tell Sun".
Sawyer informed him "Kate's telling her now, I thought we might ought of avoid huddles".
Hurley asked, "what about Sayid".
Sawyer said "Sayid aint invited, he's gone over to the dark side".
Hurley reminded him "yeah but you can always bring people back from the dark side. I mean Anakin".
Sawyer asked, "who in the hell is Anakin".
Hurley then said, "okay but we need to tell Charlie because we have to get him and Aaron off".
Sawyer said "that's what I was about to ask. You heard him as long as he believes Locke can save mamacita; he'll follow him, and Locke knows this".
Hurley asked, "so you want me to get Charlie and Aaron to follow me, with us away from Locke so we can talk to him alone".
Sawyer said "exactly, he'll listen to you and once he understands that Locke is lying about Claire. He'll come with us and together sail away from the godforsaken place once and for all". The monster and Jack return and wait until Zoe shows up and launches a mortar near them. The monster agrees to launch his escape plan and sends Sawyer to Desmond's boat, Sawyer takes Kate with him and Sawyer tells Jack about his plan and tells him grab Hugo, Sun, Lapidus, Charlie and Aaron but not Sayid. Sawyer and Kate go to the boat, and he tells Kate about their secret plan and not go to where Locke them, she agrees but hates that he waited so long to tell her and follow through with the plan. Jack enacts his plan and Hurley gets Charlie who is carrying Aaron to follow him. They all make it to the dock but when Sawyer says, "hurry up, or we'll never be able to leave this island".
Charlie rejects them "we cant leave, we have to follow Locke's plan, or he'll never bring Claire back".
Hurley says "dude, I'm sorry but she cant come back, she's dead".
Charlie insists "no, Locke will bring her back if we follow his plan".
Kate says, "Charlie he is lying, he is manipulating you, using Claire as a way to control you".
Charlie says, "but he saved me and if he saved me then he can save her, and Aaron need her, I need her".
Hurley says "you were not dead, and he saved you to have his loyal soldier, just like he did to Sayid but in a different way. He is using Claire against you because he knew how much you loved her".
Charlie pleads "it's my only chance".
Kate says "it isn't because Claire cant come back but you can do something for her. She has a mother back at home who was in a coma for years. She never knew Claire was pregnant and thinks that her only child is dead and was devastated that she never got a chance to meet her grandson. You can take him to her, take him to Claire mother and give her the one thing that she wanted, the last thing close to Claire she'll ever have".
Charlie looked at Aaron and then back to Kate and nodded and said to the sky "I'm sorry Claire that I failed you, that I couldn't save you, but I will save him and do what you wanted because you wanted me to protect him and that's what I'm going to do, I'll get him to your mother and get him off this island because it will be the closest thing to you raising him". Charlie picked up Aaron and Kate helped them climb aboard, Hurley then got on and Charlie said, "thank you, for saving us and not giving up on us, even after following whatever Locke is".
Sawyer said, "great now that we got the kid and the popstar on board, we can finally leave this piece of shit". Sawyer began to set sail away from the island and toward Hydra island but along the way Jack jumped off and swam back to the island because he felt like the island needed them. The yacht arrived at Hydra island were they were immediately held at gun point and told to put there hands up.
Charlie said "Sawyer, you know the thank you I gave you for rescuing me. I take it back".
Sawyer replied annoyed "thank you Charlie, thank you".
They were all taken prisoner as Jack arrived on the beach of the main island and ran into the monster. They were immediately attacked with a mortar from Widmore, and the monster carried Jack away from the attack before heading with him and Sayid on an outrigger to Hydra island. They then went to rescue the captured group and after doing so all went to plane together and after discovering that the plane had been wired, they went to their next best option which was the submarine. Sawyer lead Lapidus, Sun, Jin, Hurley, Charlie, and Aaron to the submarine first and entering the submarine. Sawyer and Lapidus took over the crew while the rest waited safe inside until the rest came. The rest then came but Jack pushed the monster into the water and then are attacked by Widmore's soldiers. Kate is shot in the shoulder and fire back until it safe to flee to the submarine. All but the monster are in the submarine and after Sayid quickly tells Sawyer this, Sawyer looks to see the monster the only one not aboard and firing at their attackers, he smiles and shuts the door knowing that he outwitted the monster. He gets Lapidus to dive and they begin to leave the island. Jack goes to heal Kate with the stuff he has in his bag but realises it's a bomb, Charlie exclaims "brilliant can anything ever be easy for us".
Sayid informs them that he thinks that if he pulls the wires out together that it should stop the bomb. Sawyer attempts to do this, but Jack stops him because he thinks the bomb cant go off and that Locke is unable to kill them. Sawyer doesn't listen to Jack and pulls out the wires, but it speeds the bomb up and Sayid sacrifices himself to save the rest by running far away from them. The bomb explodes and blasts a hole in the submarine, which quickly fills up with water and traps Sun. Jack grabs oxygen and orders "Hurley, Charlie, get Kate and Aaron out of here now".
Hurley asks, "what about Sayid".
Jack informs him "there is no more Sayid, now listen to me you two buddy breath where the blast hole, okay. I know you two can do this".
They both agree and they go with Charlie telling Aaron "when I put this over your mouth, breathe okay".
Aaron fearfully nodded and they all left to the blast hole to swim out. Jack went back to the others to help free Sun but after Sawyer got knocked out, Jin ordered him to save Sawyer and that he would save Sun. After some reluctance Jack agreed and left. Jin tried to free Sun but couldn't and decided to stay with Sun because he was never going to leave her ever again. The water level rose, and they drowned together. They all made it to the beach and cried over the loss of both Jin and Sun. The monster now alone realised that three candidates were still alive and decided to go after them. In the morning all six of the look out at the ocean and Jack insists that they go after Desmond because they need him. Ben, Richard, and Miles who were heading to the Barracks got Ben's C4 and met Charles Widmore there who talked to them about what Jacob had told him and once Zoe told Widmore that the monster was returning, she fled back to the house and both Charles and Zoe hid while Ben and Richard faced the monster. The monster knocked Richard over and spoke to Ben about having the island once he was gone and went to Charles Widmore and after killing Zoe, Charles whispered to the monster something before Ben killed him exclaiming "he doesn't get to save his daughter" before leaving together. As Jack led the group to Desmond, Hurley saw a kid and stole the ashes and ran from them. Hurley followed and then saw Jacob who wanted to talk to all of them. Hurley got everyone and told them about the mission that they were all brought here to do and why they had to protect the island. Jack volunteered himself and Jacob took him to accept the role as protector of the island while the rest watched. The monster go to the well where he and Sayid put him but realises that he is not there, and the monster confesses that Desmond was Jacob's failsafe and that he was going to find him and Desmond was going to help him destroy the island.
Jack tells them about the heart of island with Sawyer going to the well, while the rest of them followed Jack to the heart of the island. Kate asked, "why did you take the job".
Jack said, "because I needed too".
Kate asked, "what about us, we have a life back home, do you not want that".
Jack answered "I was struggling Kate. I tried to solve it by getting closer with you, but it didn't work. I feared that it was our relationship but as soon as I was told I could come back. I knew what was missing from my life and I needed it back".
Kate asked, "was us, never real".
Jack answered, "every bit of it was real but I could never enjoy it unless I finished something, and this is it".
Kate then said, "I stay with you then because I would rather have island life with you, then off island life without you".
Hurley says, "this would be sweet if we weren't all about to die".
Sawyer finds the monster and Ben at the well and after informing them about them no longer being candidates and seeing that Desmond isn't there flees after taking Ben's gun. The monster and Ben find Desmond with Rose and Bernard and Desmond agrees to go with him if he wont hurt Rose or Bernard which the monster agrees too. Sawyer catches up with the group heading to the heart of the island and informs them about the monster wanting to destroy the island and Desmond. Miles awakes Richard and goes to complete their mission and realise that Richard is now ageing and then find Lapidus floating in the ocean and change their mind about blowing up the plane but flying away with it. The monster with Ben and Desmond meet up with Jack's group and after Kate tries to shoot the monster, the monster goes up to Jack and talks about him being the new Jacob, he turns to Charlie holding Aaron and says, "I thought that after I saved you from your fated death, you'd be a little more grateful".
Charlie tells him "you lied to me about Claire".
The monster says, "I still don't know why you'd want her back because all she did was, be with another man before leaving you to look after their kid".
Charlie told him "I'm not going to let you manipulate me anymore because I'm done falling for your lies".
The monster said "okay, then lets get on with it then". The monster went to the heart of the island alone with Jack and Desmond and Desmond was lowered down into it. Miles then contacted Ben and informed him about their plan to fix the plane and fly away. Desmond pulled the rock cork from it's hole and the light went out. The monster tried to flee but Jack attacked him revealing that he was mortal now. The monster knock Jack out and headed toward his boat. The island began to shake, and the group of Ben, Sawyer, Kate, Hurley, Charlie, and Aaron realised that they needed to leave now, and Ben informed them about the boat that the monster was going to use and decided to head for it. Jack goes to fight the monster but gets injured and the group headed towards the boat meets them there and Kate shoots the monster before Jack kicks him off the cliff. Jack, Ben, and Hurley decide to stay and fix whatever Desmond did while Sawyer, Kate, Charlie, and Aaron head toward the boat and dive into the sea before heading to the boat. Hurley agrees to take the role as protector temporarily and Jack goes down to the light and after getting Desmond ready to be pulled off, puts the rock back in and watches the water fall and turn the light back on. All four from the boat make it back to Hydra island as the planes repairs are finished and it backed up. They notice the four heading towards the plane and let all of them on and after taking their seats, the plane speeds up and races down the runway before taking off and leaving the island. Hurley asks for help in protecting the island realising that it was no permanent and Ben agrees to help him. Jack walks into the bamboo forest and lies down looking above at the plane flying away. The plane returns to the mainland to the shock of the world especially with the survival of Sawyer, Charlie, and Aaron. The group though create their new lie about Sawyer drifting to another part of the island and Charlie trying to feed Aaron when he slid down a small cliff and injured himself. Sawyer found them and healed Charlie. By the time they tried to make it back, the Oceanic five were gone. They say that they lied about Charlie and Aaron's death because they thought they had and Charlie was trying to help, like they said and Aaron death they thought was to sad and it would be easier to live that he had no chance instead of dying in a fall because they found that track. This was accepted and Carole didn't care because her grandson was alive, and she could raise him on Claire behalf because she would want her too and Aaron was the last thing connected to her daughter. Carole was thankful to Charlie for looking after and protecting both her daughter and grandson. Carole even told Charlie that he was family and Aaron's real father instead of his biological one because he stayed when it got difficult and could see why her daughter fell for him even with their time together being so short. Charlie officially gave Aaron his ring and moved to Sydney because it was close to both Aaron and his brother, he was also never truly out of Aaron's life because he was his son and loved him. Sawyer went with Kate to meet his daughter and after some time began dating Cassidy again because she was the closest thing he had come to love, and Kate was happy being their friend because she lived Jack and like Charlie wouldn't truly get over who they lost.
