You know, this is gonna be an interesting one. I haven't seen Generator Rex in years. And truth be told, I wasn't sure about doing an adaptation in regards to this series, at least for the story. For the first four chapters, I've adapted some piece of media as reference to where they all started out from. But for this story, I'm gonna do something a bit different.
Let's start from the beginning. Rex Salazar, like Ben, had really cool powers at his disposal. But unlike him, he was brought into Providence and then became a hero through them. An agent, rather. I found that to be an interesting premise, especially as so many cartoons were focusing on more adult themes. It's what made something like Ben 10 so likeable for people at first.
Anyways, I didn't watch much of Rex's series, but I always thought he was a great character. So great in fact that he was one of the first I used in a crossover, especially since we've had one between him and Ben! I still think it's one of the greatest crossovers in media.
But enough about all that. What am I planning for this story of his? Well, let's find out! Take it away, Xiaomei!
OMNI FORCE: ORIGINS
What, were you expecting a rehash of "Heroes United"? Come now, that's so unoriginal… We can tell a story much more interesting than that…
Universe-9221, the world of EVOs, or Exponentially Variegated Organisms. In this universe, there was an incident in which a massive lab explosion caused the microscopic machines known as nanites to spread about Earth and infect every living being on the planet. Now they're normally completely harmless, but if activated inside their host's body, they could mutate them into one of the EVOs.
Some of them are incurable, like the hero of this story, Rex Salazar. His nanites, however, granted him the power to create machines from his own body and use them freely. Not to mention that he's the only one able to cure other violent EVOs. With this knowledge, he went on to become the world's most necessary fighter against EVOs, trying to cure them all with Providence's aid.
There was much that needed to be done, and enemies that stood in Rex's way. But through all the trials and tribulations he faced, he managed to cure every single EVO on the planet. It wasn't easy, and much had to be done in order to achieve such a feat.
So you might be asking yourselves… now what? With the world saved, what else is there for Rex to do? Well… not every EVO was cured…
UNIVERSE-9221
"This is utterly appalling…" a voice commented from the chasm underneath an abandoned warehouse, "To think we'd be reduced to the only surviving EVOs from what Rex Salazar did…" he muttered out.
"And now that the Master-Control Nanites gone, we won't be so much as getting the power we wanted," another voice mentioned, "Isn't that right, little lady?" he inquired of a figure whose body glowed an ominous purple. She appeared to be like a knight with her seemingly metallic armoring over her body, clenching her fists tightly. Her short indigo hair that went over her right eye as she had an angered expression upon her face.
"What Rex Salazar did hardly matters at this point," she affirmed to her four colleagues, all of whom had inhuman appearances like her, "We still have our powers," she noted, "We can still be what we want," she proclaimed.
"We already would be if it weren't for Van Kleiss betraying us…" another of her colleagues chimed in, "He escaped, didn't he?" he inquired, earning a nod from Xanubian.
"Huh…" Black Knight sighed, "The world can be still be ours," she proclaimed, "All we need is something to enhance our power over Rex's," she noted on.
"And what may you suggest that is?" Reddick asked.
"Do you recall the incident in New York with that rift in the sky?" the Consortium leader inquired of her colleagues, "The one in which it was discovered to an alternate dimension," she mentioned, causing them to perk up in surprise, "Apparently, something came from it that was created by Caesar himself," she pointed out, "The first nanite," she said.
"The first?" Anthony Haden-Scott repeated in confusion, "What difference does that make?" he inquired on.
"Plenty if you think about it," Black Knight replied, "The Alpha Nanite was said to be a creation meant to control nanites, but it went out of Caesar's control and ended up harming inorganic life," she explained to her colleagues, "And when it tried inhabiting organic forms, Caesar banished it to an alternate dimension," she mentioned further.
"But the rift brought it back here?" Roswell guessed, earning a nod in reply.
"It was subdued and sent back to that dimension, but it could very well return again," the Consortium leader noted aloud, "So I was thinking…" she continued, "why not help it?" she suggested with a grin. Her colleagues didn't say anything, seemingly shocked by the proposal. "Rex Salazar was barely able to defeat it, and that was with help from the man who also came beyond the rift," she pointed out, "Which leads me to my next point…" she continued, "There are an infinite amount of worlds beyond this one that could very well lie within our reach," she explained, "Instead of just ruling one…" she continued, "why not rule as many as we'd like?" she inferred.
"That sounds like a mighty fine offer…" Roswell concluded after a moment, standing up.
"I agree," Anthony chimed in, "We've wasted enough time just lying in wait," he noted. Xanubian and Reddick took to their feet as well. Black Knight grinned.
"Then let's start with finding the Alpha…" she advised.
The Consortium, once the funders of Providence and the Nanite Project, now turned into villains of greed, were obsessed with becoming gods of their world. Each of their members attained a meta-nanite, granting them unique abilities to do whatever it is they wished. Rex was barely able to end up stopping them, taking those meta-nanites of theirs and using them to enact a worldwide cure event.
Unfortunately, the Consortium was a part of the few that managed to escape the event, and now they've turned their focus onto a new target, the Alpha Nanite. Rex fought the sentient nanite alongside Ben, aiming to have it subdued and contained in what should've been an empty dimension. It only escaped the first time thanks to the creatures that inhabited the Null Void. As of this point in time, it's been locked away for a good while. But that's soon about to change…
Why don't we check in on Rex in the meantime, though?
OPENING
Insert "Hero" by Martin Garrix X JVKE
Opens with bay doors opening as standing at the edge of them is Rex Salazar, who puts on his goggles and grins. He leaps down towards a monstrous EVO below, transforming his arms into the Smack Hands before attacking. Watching from afar are Agent Six, Rebecca Holiday, and Bobo Haha. Rex battles the EVO before placing his hands against its body, causing it to be cured back into a normal human man.
We see various scenes of him fighting and curing EVOs alongside Providence, all while also trying to live his own life as a teenager. Unfortunately, he gets found by Van Kleiss and the Pack, leading to him discovering that there are incurable EVOs that are after him. He goes through various battles, drawing forth his B.F.S. against Quarry, creating the Punk Busters to fight against wild EVOs in Breach's pocket dimension, and using the Slam Cannon to blast ammo towards NoFace.
Throughout his various battles, one that sticks out to him is the time he met Ben Tennyson as Humungousaur, battling him throughout New York. What follows is them teaming up to face the Alpha Nanite, with Ben turning into Upgrade to combine with Rex in their battle. The two of them then part ways after their victory, with Rex hoping he'll see his new friend again someday.
And sure enough, he does, along with the likes of Ash Ketchum, Naruto Uzumaki, Gingka Hagane, Rook Blonko, Hinata Hyuga, Korra, Natsu Dragneel, and Rainbow Dash. We go through scenes of Rex alongside his friends throughout the multiverse, with him commanding a Steelix as he Mega Evolves, followed by him using his nanites to stabilize a Rasengan he and Naruto use to defeat Shinno together. He then slashes down the Equalist mecha tanks alongside Korra in Republic City, along with drawing forth his Block Party to shield himself from Natsu's flames during a sparring match.
Afterwards, we get a shot of the Consortium, looming over many of Rex's enemies as they all face him down. He grimaces, but is joined by his colleagues and friends as they're ready to fight alongside him. He charges his way down Providence's halls, knocking away NoFace before punching aside Hunter Cain, followed by creating his Funchucks to strike Gatlocke and Valve, sending them flying back.
All the while, we see the Consortium take control and absorb the Meta-Nanites, granting them powers that they use to defeat Rex, followed by claiming their stake on the world as they try to plunder its resources in claiming their godhood. Sitting up awake, Rex clutches his bedsheets. Frustrated as he is, he isn't going to let the world fall under his enemies' control.
His eyes flash blue as he takes on his Omega Form, battling back the combined forces of the Consortium before managing to achieve godhood himself by absorbing the Meta-Nanites. He enacts the worldwide cure event, disabling the nanites of millions of EVOs, turning them back to normal. And though he's achieved power so many would dream of, he makes the Meta-Nanites deactivate so that no one can use them again.
We end the opening with him playing basketball against Noah Nixon. His shot hits off the backboard and the ball rolls to the feet of Kuvira, who smiles at him. He approaches and hugs her warmly, glad to be with her and glad to have met all the people he could throughout the multiverse…
END OPENING
REX SALAZAR
Dribbling a basketball on the park court, Rex Salazar stood at the edge of the three-point line, narrowing his eyes onto the basket just ahead of him. He crouched down with the ball in his hands, jumped, and threw. The ball went soaring across the air… and went right over the basket before hitting the fence behind it.
"Air ball," a voice remarked, making the human EVO groan as he glanced over to see Bobo Haha there with a smirk on his face.
"Huh," Rex scoffed, folding his arms over his chest, "I'd like to see you try…" he muttered in challenge. The ball rolled to the chimpanzee EVO, who picked it up.
"Oh, I can do better than try…" he affirmed, dribbling the ball before making his way to the net. He leapt up and dunked it down harshly, breaking the rim off of the backboard in the process. Rex's eyes widened.
"Oh… come on!" he shouted, "That wasn't even the shot I was trying for!" he pointed out.
"Eh, we both know you would've missed it…" Bobo bluntly noted, tossing his companion the ball for him to catch, "So, any word about the next mission?" he inquired curiously. Rex sighed.
"No…" he grumbled in response, "I mean, I bet whatever's going on is something they can handle…" he presumed as he turned away.
"And yet, here you are, having already done the deed of making sure nothing goes wrong again," Bobo added thoroughly.
"Just until another EVO shows up…" Rex noted, looking up at the distant sky. Months had gone by since he essentially ended the EVO crisis by curing everyone affected. He basically put himself out of a job. Sure, Providence became a global military organization that dealt with terrorist threats, but he never found himself too involved in that. Everything was just… normal now. Well, almost.
"I bet that kid's gonna come around any day now for another gig," Bobo presumed as he walked over to the human EVO, who had glowing blue lines form along his legs before he created an orange, hovering motorbike, while a black helmet formed upon his head.
"I just wish he'd give me one of those things he and Naruto have," he grumbled, letting the chimpanzee EVO hop backseat on his build.
"Yeah, yeah… let's just get movin' already," he insisted in response, "It's boring just waiting out here," he noted, tossing the rim of the basketball net aside.
"Huh…" Rex sighed, driving off. It wasn't long before he and his friends arrived at Providence HQ, which was a monumental, towering structure that was built to sit and grip onto the cliffside of a canyon. It was purposely built large to house all of its many rooms and locations. For what it lacked in width, it certainly made up in height. It consisted of geometric architecture and was dominated by Providence's signature colors ranging from black to white. Internally, the facility possessed multiple hallways, elevators, and rooms. It has its own sewage system that could be used as an underground passage.
Driving into the structure, Rex had his Rex Ride deform as his feet skidded along the ground, coming to a stop. He removed his goggles and let out a quick breath, followed by yawning. Bobo walked up to his side.
"Geez, it's really bad now…" he realized.
"No news is good news when it comes to what happens here," another voice chimed in, getting their attentions as they saw Agent Six approach.
"Hey Six," Rex greeted, yawning again, "Well, I'd honestly prefer some action…" he admitted as he stretched his arms again, "Noah's in school, Holiday's doing all that work writing up the history of EVOs, and Circe's…" he listed off, only to trail off as he sighed sadly.
"Oh great, he got to Circe…" Bobo muttered.
"Something happen?" Six inquired.
"Uh… not really…" Rex claimed, rubbing the back of his neck with his right hand.
"She basically told lover boy to take a hike," Bobo said, gesturing to the human EVO.
"N-No!" he stuttered out, "She said… she wanted to take a break from all the crazy shenanigans," he noted to his colleagues, "So that means doing normal stuff like going to school, for instance," he pointed out.
"And why don't you?" Six asked, arching an eyebrow under his shades.
"Huh…" Rex sighed, "I don't know…" he admitted, looking off to the side, "Ever since we stopped the Consortium and Van Kleiss, there's only been so much for me to do here…" he pointed out, "That's why I wanna travel around the multiverse, like Ben does," he mentioned to his colleagues.
"And his other friends," Bobo added to his chagrin.
"Rex, you remember how I told you that certain people were destined to meet, right?" Six inquired of the human EVO as he approached him.
"Yeah…" he responded with another sigh.
"You and Ben meeting helped spark something that's helped both our world and others thrive," the agent noted, "While I haven't seen it, I've heard you've been a big help to others," he recalled, placing his hand onto Rex's right shoulder, "And thanks to them, you've been able to help Providence deal with the greatest crisis to our world," he mentioned further.
"But now what?" the human EVO wondered aloud, "Sure, there's gonna be another weirdo bad guy that shows up out of nowhere every now and again…" he pointed out, "but that's hardly a problem for me anymore," he affirmed on, "I don't wanna just tag along with Ben and the others, I wanna go to other universes, help them out," he told his colleagues.
"Big dreams," Bobo remarked.
"Can't you get yourself that device they use to travel between worlds?" Six inquired.
"Yeah… that's the complicated part…" Rex grumbled in response, much to the confusion of his colleagues as they looked over at each other.
"Welcome back, Rex," a voice greeted, getting their attentions as they turned to see Rebecca Holiday approaching, "I take that it was another day of boredom on your end?" she presumed.
"Didn't make a shot," Bobo noted with a smirk, making the human EVO sigh again.
"It'll be fine," he assured, "Once summer rolls around, I'll be hanging out with Noah and Circe, doing stuff with Ben and the others, and getting all the fun I'd need," he listed off, folding his arms behind his head.
"You might be getting that sooner than you think," Rebecca said, causing him to blink in surprise.
"It does get a little boring after you save the world, doesn't it?" a voice assumed, making the human EVO whip around to see none other than Ben there, wearing his trademark green jacket, "I mean, I've been through it time and again…" he mentioned as he shrugged his shoulders.
"Ben!" Rex exclaimed, going over and sharing a fist bump with his multiversal friend, "How've you been?" he asked almost immediately.
"Ah, ya know…" the Ultimatrix bearer uttered out, "After Aggregor, most of my time's been spent working things out with the rest of the universe, including things with Julie…" he told him sheepishly. Rex chuckled.
"Well, at least things are fun on your end," he pointed out, "Chat over some basketball?" he offered.
"Why not?" Ben questioned back, heading off with his friend.
"Boy, he sure cheered up…" Bobo noted, folding his arms over his chest.
"It does make sense that he's so interested in the multiverse," Rebecca pointed out, "Aside from the confirmation from Ben that it exists, he's been able to visit those other worlds," she explained.
"And in those worlds, he's been a great help to the people who need him," Six mentioned further, "I'm just worried that he'll forget about worrying over ours," he admitted, narrowing his eyes under his shades.
"What's there to worry about?" Bobo asked, "EVOs are gone, end of story…" he pointed out.
"But nanites still exist," Six said, "I just hope he doesn't forget that there's still that lingering threat of EVOs coming back…" he noted aloud.
X
Let's go through how Ben and Rex met, since some of you may not be aware of what started their friendship. A rift between worlds had opened, connecting Universe-9221 and Universe-57. Between them was the Null Void, in which a dangerous creature lurked. Alpha, a sentient nanite created during the Nanite Project, was freed and in need of a body to inhabit.
Ben, who was also transported in the midst of fighting the creature, met Rex as they battled. From enemies to friends, the two teenagers worked together to fight back against Alpha, managing to compact it in a dense sphere before returning it to the Null Void. And with that, Ben had departed home as well.
However, that wasn't the end of their relationship. Because thanks to the MPG, the Multiversal Portal Generator, Ben was able to return to Rex's world, thus allowing the human EVO to come travel the multiverse. Now you might be wondering, why doesn't Rex have one of the MPGs?
Well…
"You're kidding…" the human EVO uttered as a basketball rolled to his feet.
"Unfortunately, no," Ben confirmed, much to his friend's dismay as he held his face in his hands, muttering into them, "Hey, you can't expect stuff like this to just show up in the blink of an eye…" he pointed out.
"I know!" Rex shouted, "It's just, you said that frog alien guy was the biggest genius in seven galaxies," he noted.
"Uh, I think it's eight, actually…" the Ultimatrix bearer corrected unsurely.
"Whatever!" Rex exclaimed, "Point is, I'd figure he'd be able to at least cook up one more MPG since he did the same for you, Ash, Naruto, and Gingka," he listed off in remembrance, "It's just… ugh…" he groaned, picking up the basketball and throwing it towards the hoop. However, it dinged off of the rim.
"You really wanna get outta here, don't you?" Ben assumed as he caught the ball.
"It's not that I wanna leave…" Rex noted as he glanced away for a moment, "It's that I wanna help other worlds, like yours," he confirmed, "You get into all sorts of crap back in Bellwood," he mentioned, "And when you're not doing that, you're out in other worlds being… I dunno…" he kept going, "A Pokémon trainer, a ninja ally, a boyfriend for another girl…" he listed off.
"H-Hey!" Ben stammered, "I'm telling you, Hinata's just a friend!" he affirmed with his hands held out.
"Right…" Rex sarcastically responded while rolling his eyes, "But you get the point, don't you?" he inquired of his friend, walking over to the windows and looking out towards the horizon, "I feel like I could be doing more, doing things that could help a ton of other people in a lot of different worlds," he told the Ultimatrix bearer, who approached, "Like remember when we teamed up with Naruto to take down the Zero-Tail thing and that doctor guy?" he questioned of him.
"How could I forget?" he rhetorically responded, "An escort mission turned into a battle to save the world from some bastard who tried to bring back a sky temple and destroy everything…" he recalled, "We really kicked his ass after he kicked ours…" he mentioned.
"But hey, we did it," the human EVO pointed out, "How's Naruto doing, by the way?" he asked curiously.
"Fine, last I heard," Ben answered, "Stuff's calming down on his end after what happened with the Akatsuki," he mentioned.
"What about Ash and Gingka?" Rex inquired on.
"Living their best lives in Unova, last I heard," the Ultimatrix bearer responded with a shrug, "Though I'm guessing hearing about that doesn't help, right?" he presumed.
"No, it doesn't…" the human EVO confessed, earning a chuckle out of Ben.
"Well… better to not go asking for trouble," he advised, "Otherwise, you might end up regretting it," he noted on.
"I'm not looking for trouble," Rex affirmed, "I'm just looking for something else to do," he said, "Besides, there's no way anything bad's gonna happen while EVOs aren't a thing anymore," he pointed out additionally.
"Well, live life while you can," Ben suggested to his friend's surprise, "Otherwise, you might end up missing out getting time to yourself…" he mentioned as he walked off, stuffing his hands into his pockets. Rex took a moment to think, looking back out at the horizon again. At one time, it was teeming with EVOs that would pop up every now and again that he'd have to go deal with. Now… there was peace. He was happy with that. But while there was peace, what was he supposed to do? Just wait?
"Huh…" he sighed, "Swing by if you need anything," he called out to Ben, who cracked a small grin as he waved back at his friend. Elsewhere in Providence's labs, Caesar Salazar was typing rapidly upon a keyboard, followed by peering into a microscope to see expanding cells starting to form.
"Still no new updates on EVO activity?" Rebecca's voice chimed in, getting the scientist's attention.
"Nothing coming up just yet," he confirmed as a reply, "By getting that vaccine together with Rex's DNA, we managed to make almost seventy-one-point-six-three percent of the world's population immune to nanites," he explained, "And thanks to that, the likelihood of EVOs returning has been reduced to a measly eleven-point-two percent," he added thoroughly.
"We're still not out of the woods yet, though," the chief research officer stated, "Aside from the obvious, we still need to garner an idea as to whether or not there were surviving EVOs from Rex's cure-all event," she insisted.
"Hard to say if there are any," Caesar pointed out, "No one's found Black Knight, the Consortium, Van Kleiss, or any of the other EVOs whom we had to face," he listed off in explanation. At that moment, something pinged on the monitor of his computer. "How's Rex holding up, by the way?" he asked as he went over to check his device.
"Melancholy, if that's something you can believe," Rebecca answered, "I'm sure he's glad that the crisis is over and mostly resolved," she pointed out, "But at the same time, he still wants to do his part to make the world a better place," she added, giving off a worried look, "And not just ours…" she mentioned sadly.
"Oh no…" Caesar suddenly uttered out.
"What? What is it?" Rebecca asked as she approached, noticing a wavelength graph on the screen of her colleague's computer, as its readings were spiking, "Is that a reading for an EVO?!" she inquired in shock.
"No, this is something different…" the scientist confirmed as he started typing, "It's similar to the event in New York, when Ben first arrived here…" he pointed out.
"If it's a rift, we need to go and close it before something gets out…" the chief research officer insisted, hurrying off from the lab. Meanwhile, Caesar narrowed his eyes.
"There shouldn't have been a way for you to survive…" he pointed out. Elsewhere in a forested area, several plants and animals were slowly dying around the likes of the Consortium, who were looking up at the being above them, a reddish mass of mist that looked similar to an enflamed human.
"We were lucky…" Black Knight commented with a grin, "The technology needed to open a rift like this is few and far between," she pointed out, "But thanks to Caesar's time with us, I was able to procure what we needed to give us our opening," she affirmed.
"Providence is gonna be on our asses," Roswell noted.
"Which is what I'm counting on," the Consortium leader confirmed. The strange creature then floated down.
"You freed me," it noted, "Why?" it asked, appearing to tilt its head.
"Because I know exactly what you're capable of," Black Knight responded, "Look around," she said, gesturing to the deceased plant life and animals, "You're able to absorb technology and make it your own while also taking organic life to use as hosts," she pointed out. The creature narrowed its eyes.
"Your nanites are similar to Brother's…" it noted aloud.
"You must mean Rex's Omega Nanite," the Consortium leader realized, letting off another grin, "You'll get that, too," she promised.
"I'm not liking this…" Reddick admitted.
"Yes, this is becoming rather grim…" Anthony chimed in to Black Knight's annoyance, "Wasn't this… thing banished to this alternate realm for a reason?" he questioned.
"The Alpha is our best weapon against the likes of Rex," she affirmed as a response, "We need him out of the way in order to have a chance to fight back," she proclaimed on, "So will you be willing to work with us?" she inquired of the sentient nanite.
"…If our goals align as they do, then yes," it answered.
X
Rex lied down upon his bed in his room, bouncing a small ball up against a wall as it ricocheted back to his hand, allowing him to throw it again. He kept repeating the process until the ball missed his hand, hitting the wall behind him and falling onto his face. He sighed, sitting up and looking down at the floor in deep thought. The world was at peace. Nothing was wrong.
And yet, here he was, stuck in a rut. He had no idea what to do now. School wasn't really an option since Rebecca was always on him about studying. And with EVOs gone for now, he couldn't really do much with Providence. So what could he do?
"Knock-knock!" a voice chimed in, getting his attention as he turned to see his door open, revealing none other than Noah Nixon there.
"Oh, hey," the human EVO greeted.
"What, that's it?" his friend said as he sauntered into the room, "No surprise? Nothing?" he questioned further, while Rex started bouncing his ball again.
"Nah, I figured you'd be cleared to come around here after school…" he pointed out in reply.
"…Okay, yeah," Noah confirmed as he shrugged his shoulders, "Heard from Bobo you're in a bit of a slump," he noted.
"Kinda…" Rex replied, "You save the world time and time again, keep on doing the same thing to make everything else better…" he pointed out as he caught the ball he was bouncing, holding it in his hand, "But now… there's nothing left to save," he mentioned with a shrug.
"I mean… you could be like those superheroes from the comics and swoop in to save people," Noah suggested.
"That doesn't happen often…" the human EVO noted, letting out another sigh, "It's not just that I wanna go to other worlds, I wanna help people," he told his friend, "I'm good at it," he mentioned, gesturing to himself.
"Heh," Noah chuckled, "I know that firsthand," he pointed out.
"There was one time me and my friends were up against this maniac trying to bring his country back to power and take over the world," Rex recalled, "Ya know, usual bad guy crap," he added as his friend nodded, "The guy seemed good at first…" he continued, "But he turned out to be the big bad all along…" he confirmed.
FLASHBACK
"Naruto!" Rex cried out upon seeing his friend get blown back in an instant, crashing against the wall over the opening to the throne room before falling to the floor. So much had just happened in such a short amount of time. For starters, Shinno, the doctor they had thought was killed from the accidental triggering of a kunai trap, was alive. And he was the mastermind behind everything. The Sky Ninja, the floating fortress, all of it. And that included the Zero-Tails.
To make matters even worse, his sudden change in attitude greatly affected Amaru. Her sadness, her anguish... all of those negative emotions of hers was what he used to control the Zero-Tails and use its vast amount of dark chakra.
"You two must be surprised as well, right?" Shinno guessed, catching Ben and Rex's attentions, "Well... don't feel bad," he assured to them, "You'll both get to understand just how outmatched you are!" he declared, taking a ready stance.
"Ergh..." Naruto grunted as he stood back up. All of a sudden, a whitish light started to shine around Shinno before his body started to expand. Ben and Rex stumbled back by the force of the wind blowing against them as the aura shrouding their new foe turned dark. His hair went black and grew out crazily, while his muscles grew at an immense rate, ripping off his shirts to reveal his upper body.
"What the hell?" Ben uttered in shock, blinking rapidly.
"That was the Body Activation Jutsu," Shinno said, looking himself over as he clenched his fists, "With this form, I can open all eight of the Inner Chakra Gates, including the Gate of Death," he explained. Ben widened his eyes. He knew that if someone like Shinno could do that... there wouldn't be any way to stop him. Rex put on his goggles.
"Like that scares us," he remarked, letting blue lines form along his arms before forming the Bad Axes over them. He dashed out at Shinno with Naruto, who crossed his fingers before several clones appeared beside him in puffs of smoke.
"Guys, wait!" Ben cried out. But it was too late. The moment Rex swung his left axe at Shinno... it was shattered instantaneously, followed by him getting punched hard in the chest, sending him crashing into some of the nearby stone carvings. "REX!" Ben screamed. Shinno then went on to easily do away with Naruto's clones, punching and kicking them aside as they all vanished instantaneously as they appeared. He then landed a fierce blow with his right fist to the jinchuriki's gut, causing him to cough out a wad of spit.
"Do you understand now?" he asked of his foe, moving his arm away, "What this form born of the Body Activation Jutsu can... do!" he exclaimed as he elbowed Naruto hard in the back, making him hit the floor hard on his stomach, "Ooh, sorry..." Shinno mock-apologized, "It seems I'm having trouble controlling how strong I've become!" he bellowed while kicking Naruto away hard, sending him crashing into the stone carvings.
"Naruto!" Ben yelled worriedly.
"Now it's your turn, boy," Shinno said, catching his attention as he saw him smirk, "Show me what you've got..." he challenged. Ben gritted his teeth, pushing the left sleeve of his jacket back before activating the Ultimatrix. He quickly shifted through each of the alien holograms by twisting the dial, slapping it down once he selected one. A green flash of light overtook his form, dissipating to reveal his new appearance. He was now a small, white alien whose body was in a suit made of silicon. One of his most noticeable features was a square appendage resembling an MP3 player behind his back with a port on it, decorated with a 10 symbol and what looked like cassette tapes on his lower legs. He had circle-shaped indents on the back of his hands which were green. The inside of his mouth was also green with lines that gave it the appearance of an amplifier. The Ultimatrix symbol was planted upon the center of his chest.
"Echo Echo!" he exclaimed in a robotic-sounding voice. Shinno didn't seem that impressed.
"Is that really a form worthy of battling the likes of a king?" he wondered aloud. The Sonorosian's body flashed a bright green before several clones of himself came out from his body, appearing one after another to surround their foe. "Oh..." he uttered out in surprise, "So you plan to overwhelm me with numbers?" he guessed with a tilt of his head, narrowing his eyes. The Echo Echo clones reeled their heads back with the original.
"Echo... CHAMBER!" he screeched before unleashing a powerful sonic wail. All of his clones did the same, about to bombard Shinno with their collective power.
"Sonic attacks, hm?" he noted, "An admirable attempt..." he began as his eyes flashed yellow, while his sclera went ash dark, "but foolish!" he exclaimed. All of a sudden, the sound was counteracted by the force of a wave of dark chakra, followed by the clones getting struck and blown back by its force, with some disappearing instantaneously. Those that remained fell down, groaning in agony.
"Dammit!" Naruto's voice roared as he rushed out at Shinno, who merely blinked before having another wave of dark chakra blow him away in an instant.
"Goodness..." he muttered in disdain, going down to sit upon the throne, "Oh, I see..." he said as he sat down, "Whoever sits on this throne must be the one that possesses the ultimate body!" he realized proudly, "A throne fit for a king!" he added with a laugh.
"You're... no... king..." Echo Echo echoed out as he managed to stand back up, faltering only slightly, "We... won't... lose... to... you!" he declared slowly but firmly.
"Really now?" Shinno inquired with an arched eyebrow. The Sonorosian leapt up, having several clones appear from his body. Along with that, Naruto had about a hundred appear as well, all diving down towards Shinno. He stayed seated, firing off another wave of dark chakra with just a blink of his eyes that struck them all, making them completely vanish into thin air. He then stood up, narrowing his eyes. Surely, it couldn't have been that easy... All of a sudden, several rocks were fired towards him, enticing him to quickly act as he bashed them aside into pieces with his fists.
"Now!" Rex's voice cried out, causing Shinno to perk up in surprise. Echo Echo clones were running through the smoke, leaping up and screaming into their foe's face. He knocked them aside easily, but he felt his ears ring from each sonic blast. And that gave Naruto the chance he needed as he leapt out and punched Shinno down to the floor.
"You think you're a king?!" he screamed as he continuously punched Shinno over and over, who seemed completely unfazed, "I think you're nothing!" he shouted as he leapt up, forming a Rasengan in his hand, "I'm not gonna let you do this!" he exclaimed as he slammed the spiraling sphere into Shinno in a fierce explosion. He then jumped back, landing beside Rex and Echo Echo.
"Ow..." the EVO muttered out in agony as he held onto his right shoulder, "Haven't taken hits like that in a while..." he admitted.
"Me... neither..." Echo Echo added through a grunt, "But... at least... it's over," he pointed out assuredly. Naruto then turned to Amaru.
"Amaru, are you-?"
"Muscles get stronger when they're damaged and then repaired," Shinno's voice noted from the settling smoke, causing the others to all perk up in surprise.
"No... way..." Echo Echo echoed out in disbelief. Shinno's body looked to be repairing itself from the damage it had taken, with all of his wounds closing up and his bruises disappearing.
"All you need is vast experience with medical ninjutsu," the madman continued, "and with damage alone, you can have this kind of body," he pointed out to his foes.
"You've gotta be kidding me..." Rex muttered out as his eyes shook.
"Why you..." Naruto growled, ready to continue the fight even with Shinno's ability to recover in play. But all of a sudden, he appeared behind him.
"And when the ultimate body unleashes chakra," he continued as Naruto's eyes widened in horrified realization, "it creates the ultimate attack..." he stated, forming a maroon sphere of energy over the palm of his right hand that had rings orbiting around it, "Super Activation Fist..." he uttered out. A deafening slam could be heard throughout the floating fortress. Naruto was lying upon the throne with a significant blow to his back.
"Naruto!" Rex cried out, "You son of a...!" he started to yell at Shinno, forming his right hand into the B.F.S. He then pulled the lever to make the top part of the blade split, spinning around rapidly like a buzz saw. But as he swung it towards Shinou, he dashed away to evade it, followed by kicking aside Echo Echo before he could even react, sending him crashing into the stones nearby. "Ben!" Rex screamed. Shinno then punched him hard in the gut again, causing him to spit up a wad of blood as he slammed into the wall, while the blade built over his arm shattered into pieces.
It was pretty much a struggle from there on. None of the three could land even a decent blow to Shinno. He was too fast and too strong. And Amaru started to have her doubts only increase. With how the battle was going, and with what Shinno had said, she wondered if this was all happening... because of herself. The darkness in her heart had made Shinno infinitely stronger than the three he was fighting. There didn't seem to be any hope left.
But Naruto stood strong, saying that the admiration Amaru had for the doctor wasn't for nothing. He even looked to his own relationships with his sensei, his friends, including Ben and Rex, saying that because of them, he became as strong as he was today.
"I've... got... people... I'm... fighting... for, too..." Echo Echo echoed out weakly as he managed to stand up, catching Shinno's attention, "There's... no... way... I'll lose... when... I've got... my friends... with me!" he exclaimed, running out at his opponent, only to be kicked away in an instant.
"Enough already..." Shinno muttered as he put his foot down, "You can't beat me, no matter how much you try..." he pointed out.
"Dream on, doc..." Rex remarked, causing him to glance over and see the smirk on his face, "We beat tough guys like you for breakfast, and that's by ourselves..." he pointed out despite clutching his hurting torso with his left arm, "Kick our asses around all you want," he continued, "We're still gonna win..." he declared, forming his right arm into a Smack Hand before running out at Shinno. He sighed deeply, reeling his left arm back before punching the EVO away hard, sending him sliding along the floor until he stopped beside his pained teammates.
"Why continue this fight if you won't show me your best?" Shinno asked, "Or was that really the best you had to offer?" he wondered with a smirk, "The darkness in Amaru's heart really did the trick it seems..." he pointed out. Amaru widened her eyes. It seemed like everything was her fault. She quickly pulled out the scalpel that the doctor had once given her.
'As long as there are blades that can wound people, there are also ones that can heal them...' his voice echoed in her head. If she were to do away with herself right now, maybe Naruto and the others would stand a chance. She pointed the blade at herself.
'Doctor...' she uttered inwardly, about to pierce her own heart. But instead, an arm wrapped around her and took the blade. And to her shock, it was Naruto's. He didn't think this was what she should be doing. Neither did the other two.
"You can't stand all that pain and sadness, can you?" Naruto guessed, looking back at her with a grin as he stood up, "Then I'll take it on myself..." he declared firmly, causing her to tear up.
"I'll take... it, too..." Echo Echo chimed in as he managed to get onto his feet, "There's... no way... I'm... gonna... let him... get away... with this..." he stated in spite of the pain he was in.
"Neither am I..." Rex agreed as he stood firm, "We've got too much to lose if we fall here..." he mentioned, wiping the blood dripping from his lips. Amaru couldn't believe it. These three were willing to die to save the world. To save her. She looked over and saw the devious smirk on Shinno's face. To him, this was nothing more than a game he'd win. Amaru then grabbed Naruto's arm, taking out a roll of bandages to patch it up. She then told the truth as Naruto said she should. She was glad to have been praised, taught, even inspired by the man she once knew as her teacher. And he was smirking at every word. The others paid no mind though, smiling softly at Amaru.
"I always... always... loved you, Master!" she finally screamed out as tears rolled down her cheeks profusely.
"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAA!" he cackled mockingly. That set his three opponents off. Echo Echo twisted the dial at his chest and slapped it, morphing into a form just as tall as his comrades, having blue metal skin, fifteen blue, removable speaker-like components attached to his body, an overall rounded design, and long arms and legs. Also, his power control pack was replaced with a marking resembling a cassette tape. He has stumped feet and oval green eyes, which narrowed onto Shinou, who was still laughing.
"HEY!" he yelled, suddenly launching himself out at the man in an instant, "SHUT IT, DIRTBAG!" he exclaimed, striking him in the face fiercely with his right fist, causing it to bruise immediately as Shinno had a shocked expression upon the impact.
"Do us a favor..." Rex began as he dashed over, high-kicking Shinou into the air with his right foot morphed into the Punk Buster.
"How 'bout keepin'..." one clone of Naruto's continued.
"...your freaky ideas..." another kept going.
"...to yourself!" the real Naruto finished as he and his clones knocked Shinno down towards the floor.
"And quit forcin' 'em on us!" Ultimate Echo Echo roared as he unleashed a powerful sonic scream from his mouth, sending Shinno back up into the air.
"'Cause you might believe a person's love leads to darkness..." Naruto continued as he jumped overhead, remembering his friends and comrades, "But you're wrong!" he proclaimed, "Love is exactly what makes us stronger!" he declared, clenching his hands together and slamming Shinno down onto the floor with a single strike. What followed was Rex forming the Funchucks over his arms, constantly smacking Shinno back with them before he even had a chance to counter. Ultimate Echo Echo then pulled off the sonic discs at his shoulders, flinging them out as they then duplicated, surrounding his target.
"Sonic... DOOOOOOOOMMMM!" he echoed loudly, unleashing a bombardment of sonic waves that practically trapped Shinno. He could feel his ears start to bleed from just how loud it was. And at that moment, several puffs of smoke appeared, followed by Naruto's clones all attacking him as he couldn't do a thing.
"You are nothing..." the real one started to bellow as he reeled back his right fist, "BUT A WORTHLESS SCUMBAG!" he roared, punching him hard in the face and sending him crashing through his own throne before he collided with the stone carvings. The dust then settled, revealing him actually struggling to stand back up.
"My... chakra is..." he started to realize, looking out and gasping lightly to see Naruto with a Rasengan ready in his right hand. Ultimate Echo had two sonic discs hovering between his hands, forming a sphere of sonic power.
"Wait, you have one, too?!" Rex exclaimed upon noticing, causing the hyper-evolved Sonorosian to roll his eyes. Naruto just kept his focus on Shinno.
"I'll never... forgive you," he stated firmly, reeling his arm back, "RASENGAN!" he bellowed.
"SONIC RASENGAN!" Ultimate Echo Echo echoed loudly as he readied his arms. But at that moment, a sudden bolt of lightning crackled by, causing both spheres to be sent through the roof, going up high into the sky.
"Whoa!" Rex yelped in surprise, "What the heck just happened?" he asked. A loud boom echoed outside of the fortress.
"Aw, man..." Ultimate Echo Echo grumbled, "I totally wanted to try that move..." he complained, crossing his arms.
"That's your beef?!" Rex exclaimed. Meanwhile, Naruto recognized the sound of that lightning. He looked over and widened his eyes.
"S-Sasuke?!" he stuttered out upon seeing his old friend. Ultimate Echo Echo and Rex looked over to see him, too.
"Oh, great..." the hyper-evolved Sonorosian muttered out, "More trouble..." he grumbled. Clearly, this battle had only just begun...
END FLASHBACK
"Dang," Noah uttered.
"That's only half of the story," Rex pointed out, "We actually had a round two with the guy when—" The door suddenly opened, revealing Six there.
"Rex, we have a situation," he confirmed immediately.
"Uh, is it EVO-related?" his colleague inquired, arching an eyebrow.
"It's serious," Six said firmly, causing the human EVO to blink in surprise. It wasn't even ten minutes later until he was flying across the skyline with his Boogie Pack deployed, leading the way as a squadron of fighter jets and scout ships followed after him.
"A rift?" he said into his communicator, "You mean like a portal?" he inquired on.
"Exactly," Rebecca responded from one of the scout ships she was aboard with Caesar and a few other researchers, analyzing the readings over a holographic display, "It's similar to the one in New York that Ben had come out of," she mentioned. Under his goggles, Rex's eyes widened.
"And Alpha…" he added.
"So far, readings aren't showing any signs of EVOs popping up," Caesar confirmed from the scout ship, "But we're also detecting high traces of nanite energy," he mentioned.
"If it is the Alpha Nanite, we need to find a way to contain it again," Rebecca advised.
"Or destroy it!" Rex communicated, getting their attentions, "After last time, I'd rather not have that thing going around and causing trouble again!" he pointed out.
"Rex, I can always send it back to that alternate dimension," Caesar assured.
"And how do you think it got out the last time, hermano?!" Rex shouted through the line, "It's fine," he assured, taking a breath to calm himself down from the horizon he flew across, "We'll figure it out when we get there," he affirmed, clenching his fists tightly.
"This thing was that bad the last time?" Noah inquired, riding aboard another of the scout ships with Six and Bobo.
"Very bad," the agent affirmed in reply, "It was an uncontrollable creation of Caesar's that went wild to try and get a host for its unstable body," he explained.
"Almost destroyed the whole world when it got Rex's Omega," the EVO chimpanzee pointed out, "Lucky we had Mister Ten here when we did," he mentioned.
"Rex, you lost your Omega Nanite to this thing?" Noah asked of his friend out of surprise.
"Like I said, it's fine," he responded from outside, "Let's just get this thing taken care of before…" he started to say, only to trail off as he noticed the withered plant life ahead, with such a large radius around it.
"That… isn't good," Caesar noted aloud. It was like a cloud of smoke was forming overhead, channeling downward to Alpha itself, making its body 20 feet tall as it spotted its incoming enemies, including Rex.
"Hello, Brother," it greeted as the human EVO descended, landing in front of it, "I see you've become aware of my return," it pointed out.
"Yeah, if that wasn't obvious enough…" Rex retorted, deforming his Boogie Pack before building the B.F.S. over his right arm, aiming it at the sentient nanite, "This time, you're not getting off easy," he proclaimed.
"Incorrect," Alpha responded to his surprise, "For you see, I've received help in bringing you here," he pointed out.
"Indeed," another voice chimed in before a violet laser beam streaked across and struck Rex from the side, knocking him over into a dead tree, making it collapse upon impact.
"Augh…" he groaned out. He looked out and gasped with a dropped jaw to see Black Knight there with the rest of the Consortium, as their leader had a Slam Cannon formed over her left arm.
"Hello, Rex," she greeted as she approached, donning her mask over her face like the others.
"And here I thought you guys lost your powers…" Rex grunted out as he got to his feet.
"We managed to save them from your curing event," Black Knight noted, "Nicely done, by the way," she mentioned proudly, "Without EVOs, the world's going to become a lot laxer and never know we were lurking in the shadows," she pointed out.
"Until now…" Rex said, forming his Smackhands over his arms, only for them to suddenly get frozen over in ice.
"We already know your tricks are enough to fight each of us yerself, boy," Roswell pointed out.
"But what if we added a new player to the field?" Anthony suggested, gesturing to Alpha, who stomped forward, "It takes your Omega Nanite, and you're half as effective as you'd normally be," he noted on.
"And humanity's twilight shall begin," Alpha stated additionally. Immediately, Rex spun his Smackhands around, shattering the ice around them.
"Not gonna happen," he declared firmly, "Definitely not with Providence here to back me up, anyway," he corrected with a smirk.
"That is troubling…" Black Knight admitted, turning and nodding to Reddick. All of a sudden, gravity intensified around the area, with some of the scout ships falling out from the sky, while incoming fighter jets fell as well. From theirs, Six leapt out with Bobo, who grabbed Noah as he yelped. They landed down safely as the agent of the group drew his magna blades.
"Rex!" he called out.
"Yeah, I'll steer clear of Alpha!" the human EVO responded, forming his Boogie Pack to fly upward before readying his B.F.S. over his right arm, keeping a Smackhand upon his left. He dove toward Black Knight, who built a B.F.S. over her own arm to clash against his.
"It's clear that you're not rusty…" she pointed out.
"Yeah, I've been working out in other worlds," Rex retorted, hopping back and deforming his builds before readying his Bad Axes.
"Oh, I'm aware of that," Black Knight affirmed, "Have you ever thought what it would be like to have all the power in the multiverse?" she wondered aloud, "You had it yourself," she mentioned, forming violet force-fields to block her foe's attempted slashes, "And instead, you decided to throw it all away…" she muttered disdainfully.
"So guys like you wouldn't use them ever again!" Rex shouted back, "You really don't get the whole hero shtick, do you?" he assumed as he smirked. In a flash of green light, Xanubian suddenly appeared behind him, ready to strike with a flurry of punches. But he was suddenly blasted back by the red lasers shot from Bobo's pistols.
"Kid, you better make these bozos book it!" he yelled out to Rex, "Do the big robot thing!" he insisted.
"No way…!" the human EVO responded as he blew Black Knight back, followed by having to form the Sky Slyder to fly away from flames and lightning shot his way from Roswell and Anthony respectively, "I risk losing my mind, we're in way worse a position than last time!" he pointed out.
"Your position is already unfavorable, Brother," Alpha said, getting his attention as the sentient nanite leapt up at him, "The Omega shall be mine!" it declared. As it closed in, Rex clenched his teeth, zipping around it before forming the Blast Caster. He swung its whip out, wrapping around the left leg of Alpha before mightily throwing it down onto the ground in a flurry of dirt and dust. Reddick braced himself from the impact, ready to gravitationally make the human EVO fall to the ground. But he suddenly found himself ambushed by Six, who landed a flurry of slashes with his magna blades to force him back. Rex landed down, ducking from another spray of flames sent his way by Roswell.
"Shouldn't you guys be… I dunno, back to normal?!" he presumed, forming the Block Party upon his arms to block off another stream of fire shot toward him. He gritted his teeth, enduring the intense heat thrust upon him.
"Little Miss found a way for us to keep all our powers, even after that little show you put on to 'save' the world," Roswell pointed out, "Still, with the Meta-Nanites gone, we still only got so much of our power separately…" he mentioned further.
"So that's why you got Alpha…" Rex realized, looking over to see the monstrous form of the sentient beginning to emerge from its crater, with cracks formed along its body.
"After hearin' 'bout what that thing could do, I had my doubts…" Roswell admitted, suddenly freezing Rex's legs in a mound of ice, trapping him before he suddenly found himself blasted back by a lightning-like ray of energy shot from Anthony.
"But now, we at least have a fair fight…" he pointed out.
"I wouldn't call it that," another voice chimed in, getting Anthony's attention as he looked up too late to find himself getting slammed to the ground from a figure that shot down from above. As the dust settled, it revealed him lying groaning upon the ground with the figure of an armored White Knight standing above him.
"White!" Rex exclaimed upon noticing.
"So you decided to join the fight…" Black Knight muttered upon spotting her counterpart.
"I'm not about to let you start another wave of chaos when we already worked so hard to achieve what we have," he retorted with narrowed eyes.
"Hmph," Black Knight scoffed, forming a B.F.S. as she charged at him. However, she was met by Rex, who countered her blade with his own. The two clashed blades as sparks flew between them, before they both built Smackhands over their arms, colliding them with each other as they were in a deadlock. From afar, Roswell stuck his hands out, starting to freeze up the human EVO's legs again. However, he was met with a ferocious punch to the head from White, sending him tumbling back.
"Don't let them combine!" he insisted of his colleagues.
"Right," Six responded, continuing to slash at Reddick as he couldn't find even a moment to concentrate. Bobo continued firing at Xanubian with his laser pistols, as his foe dodged them by warping away in flashes of light. However, he was being driven away from his colleagues. Noticing, Rex smirked as he pushed back against Black Knight.
"Maybe now that you're running on pretty much borrowed power, you figured having Alpha would give you an edge…" he presumed of his foe.
"Ergh…" she growled indignantly, "It isn't proving itself to be useful at the moment…" she muttered out. The sentient nanite crawled out from its crater, appearing to writhe in agony. From one of the scout ships, Caesar and Rebecca watched on.
"Its body is unstable," the latter confirmed.
"There might be nanites, but there's no EVOs for it to absorb them from," the former pointed out, "And without a suitable host body, it can't maintain itself, even if it's able to build a body from organic matter," he added thoroughly.
"Which means we need to stall for time," Rebecca realized, grabbing the microphone by the console, "Rex, we need to make sure we keep Alpha from getting away!" she yelled out over the loudspeakers, getting the goggled teen's attention as he knocked Black Knight back, reforming his arms as he looked over his shoulder to the scout ship, "Its body is deteriorating, and it won't be able to maintain itself for long without a host," she explained further.
"So all we gotta do is make it stick around?" Bobo guessed, letting off a grin, "Perfect," he remarked, firing a few shots from his pistols aimlessly to his right. However, it was where Xanubian appeared next, winding up struck and knocked down. Six sent Reddick crashing into a dead tree, and White knocked Reddick back with another blow. Black Knight growled in frustration. Her last-ditch plan to regain godhood and stop anyone who'd so much as stand in her way seemed shot.
Rex charged at her again, forming his arms into the Funchucks as he swung them around rapidly. She formed her own, but they were easily shattered by her foe's, launching her away as she crashed against a tree. Taking notice, Roswell scoffed.
"I thought you said we'd win this time, little lady!" he shouted in frustration.
"Ergh… we will…" Black Knight grunted as a retort as she staggered to her feet, "It doesn't matter if they've got hundreds of people against us…" she proclaimed, "We earned the right to our power…" she affirmed, clenching her fists tightly, "And we'll fight to the death to keep it…" she added fiercely.
"Naw, this ain't worth it!" Roswell exclaimed with a wave of his right arm, "So long!" he remarked as he ran off suddenly.
"Roswell!" Black Knight yelled.
"Don't let him get away!" White shouted.
"Right, I'm on—!" Rex's response was halted with what happened next. Alpha's body was cracking up as it writhed with pain. It needed new nanites, stronger ones in order to survive. And it hadn't even realized until this point… that those who freed it had powerful nanites of their own.
They weren't as strong as Rex's, but they were enough to attract its attention. Reaching its right hand out, it grabbed the fleeing Roswell, who yelped. He was lifted off of the ground, trying to wriggle himself free of the sentient nanite's grasp.
"Let go of me…!" he demanded through a grunt.
"Your nanites…" Alpha began, narrowing its eyes onto the Consortium member as he lightly gasped, "They may not be as desirable as Brother's…" it kept going as red lines of energy trailed off from its arm onto Roswell, "but they'll serve my purpose well," it affirmed confidently.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" the Consortium member screamed in complete agony as he became enveloped in a red light. Everyone watched on in shock, especially Rex.
"Doc… what's happening?" he asked into his communicator.
"It looks like Alpha's absorbing the nanites from him…" the researcher responded over the line.
"And those nanites were created by the meta that was inside of him…" Caesar mentioned on.
"Like the Omega…" Rex realized as he saw the metal upon Roswell's body start to rust and break away as he kept screaming, only for his voice to slowly die out as soon enough, all that was left of him was dust. Though the cracks on Alpha's body remained, it was able to cover them with layers of ice it formed.
"Nanites that can harness even elements…" it said, making a flame emit over the palm of its right hand, "To think that Father was responsible for such wonderful creations…" it noted on, looking over to the other members of the Consortium, who were all left shocked, "I may not need you after all, Brother," it stated as Rex grimaced. The situation had gotten all the more complicated.
X
"Hurry! We need to back them up, now!" one soldier yelled to his colleagues as they disembarked from dropships, hurrying across the barren landscape towards where the battle was taking place. One man took notice of something nearby, blinking in surprise underneath his mask. In the meantime, Six looked over at the empowered Alpha, whose focus had turned to Reddick.
"Holiday, what's happened?" he inquired immediately as he pressed his pointer finger against the communicator in his left ear.
"Alpha's absorbed the nanites created by the meta that was implanted in that man, and now it has his abilities," the researcher explained in response.
"And now that it knows it can take those nanites, I think it's gonna try for the others, too!" Caesar warned. The sentient nanite started to stomp towards Reddick, who panicked and held his arms out. Gravity intensified, rendering Alpha immobile as it struggled against the sudden weight it needed to endure.
"We have to stop it!" the Consortium member insisted, "It's going to kill all of us!" he mentioned emphatically. Anthony was quick to start firing bolts of lightning onto Alpha, while Xanubian teleported himself over to Black Knight, whose fists trembled with frustration. The sentient nanite was meant to be the Consortium's answer to dealing with Rex. But now it had turned on them for their nanites and the powers they held.
"Black Knight, help!" Anthony shouted, trying to get her attention, "If this thing stays alive, it'll take all our power and kill us!" he pointed out.
"We should've combined right from the start!" Reddick complained. All of a sudden, both he and his colleague found themselves getting entrapped in ice. Alpha narrowed its eyes, reaching over to grab hold of the gravity wielder first.
"Don't let it take his nanites!" Rebecca yelled from the scout ship. Acting quickly, Rex formed his Rex Ride at his feet, motoring over. The front of his build came apart to reveal a battering ram, which he used to knock the sentient nanite's hand away from Reddick. It glared.
"Why do you stop me, Brother?" it asked, "Aren't these the ones who tormented you with their powers before?" it inquired on.
"Yeah, but I know you're gonna something worse with 'em…" Rex retorted, veering back around as he attempted to ram into his foe again. However, it suddenly breathed out a stream of fire, causing him to come to a screeching halt, deforming his Rex Ride as he tumbled to a stop, inches from getting burned by the flames. In the meantime, Six was quick to slash the ice off of Reddick, who appeared to be surprised.
"Unless you wanna end up like your friend, I suggest you get back," he advised.
"No, stop!" Anthony screamed from afar, getting himself grabbed next by Alpha. Soldiers arrived on the scene, firing onto the sentient nanite with Bobo in an attempt to make it let go of the Consortium member. But unfortunately, it made glowing red lines appear along its hand, making him glow as well as he yelled with agony. He too rusted and was drained of his life, being dropped to the ground promptly afterwards.
"So not good…" Rex realized upon noticing. Energy like electricity crackled around Alpha, who shot out bolts randomly around the area. The barrage knocked back several Providence soldiers, while the human EVO drew his Block Party, generating blue energy shields to prevent himself from getting struck. "Doc, any idea how to stop this thing?!" he yelled into his communicator.
"Right now, we need to keep the Consortium away from it," Rebecca responded over the line, "The more nanites it absorbs, the more powerful it'll be like the last time," she mentioned grimly.
"Yeah, that helps…" Rex muttered, "Really wish Ben was here…" he added in frustration.
"Rex, you might be able to get Alpha under control if your nanites overwhelm his," Caesar inferred, getting his brother's attention.
"Wouldn't I need to like, blow it up first?" he inquired back.
"It's in a state where even though its body is producing its own nanites, they're dying out relatively quickly," the scientist explained from the scout ship, "So long as you can get it while it's distracted…" he continued.
"I can contain it again," his brother concluded with a grin, "And it's already trying to nab the Consortium…" he added, watching as the sentient nanite went after Reddick again, only for Six to slash at its arms with his magna blades, forcing it back. The human EVO then charged in, ready to make his move. However, Alpha took notice.
"Don't be so eager, Brother," it advised, as a bolt of lightning suddenly shot down from the sky, striking the ground and blowing the human EVO back in a loud yell, "I will gladly relieve you of your Omega once I've gained what I want," it assured, stomping toward Reddick again.
"Stop!" Six yelled, only to wind up trapped in a mound of ice as he grimaced.
"Six!" Rex cried out. He clenched his teeth. If Alpha were to gain even more power, it could very well end up unstoppable. It reached out for the defenseless Reddick, who attempted to stop it again with his gravity, only for it to fail once he was grabbed. However, before the red energy lines of the sentient nanite could reach him, a yellow bolt of lightning struck its wrist, forcing it to drop the bio-mechanical EVO onto the ground. Rex blinked in surprise.
"Peekah!" a voice squeaked, making his eyes widen. Having arrived on the scene was Pikachu, along with Ash Ketchum as he adjusted his cap.
"Nice shot, bud!" he complimented to his partner, who nodded.
"Ugh…" Bobo groaned as he sat up, taking notice of the Pokémon Trainer, "Well, you think you've seen it all…" he remarked out of surprise.
"Dude, what are you doing here?!" Rex questioned as he jogged over to Ash, getting his attention.
"Oh, hey Rex!" he greeted, "Ben called and said you were bummed that you still didn't have your MPG yet," he pointed out, "so I thought I'd swing by to help cheer you up," he said with a smile. An embarrassed look crossed the human EVO's face.
"That's… thoughtful, I guess…" he mumbled out, glancing off to the side.
"Peekah!" Pikachu cried out, getting their attentions as Rex quickly tackled Ash away from getting struck by another stream of flames.
"Well, you being here helps more than hurts…" the human EVO admitted as he and his friend got to their feet, "We need to stop that thing from taking the nanites from the rest of the Consortium, the guys that look like robots," he told the Pokémon Trainer.
"You got it," he responded with a nod, "Pikachu, Thunderbolt!" he commanded of his partner. Yellow electricity sparked from the cheeks of the Mouse Pokémon before it encased his entire body. He then shot off a powerful bolt of lightning, striking Alpha and forcing it to stumble back as its eyes narrowed with frustration.
"Okay, let's get the rest of the Consortium rounded up!" Rex called out to his colleagues.
"You really think they're gonna mosey on over to our side?" Bobo inquired.
"Better than ending up as fuel for Alpha," White remarked as he endured a bombardment of rapid punches from Xanubian by crossing his arms over his head, "Rex!" he yelled.
"Yep, on it!" the human EVO responded, forming his Sky Slyder as he flew over. However, he was intercepted by Black, who narrowly missed slicing him in two with her B.F.S. "Whoa!" he yelped as he came to a stop, "Hey, in case you didn't notice, we're trying to help you!" he pointed out with a glare.
"You think we need your help…?" the Consortium leader inquired back, "Alpha'll take your Omega, and then everything falls into place…" she affirmed.
"That's your plan?!" Rex exclaimed with widened eyes, "Yeah, like I'm buying that!" he retorted, forming his Funchucks and swinging them out at her. She flew back to evade them, forming her Slam Cannon and firing beams of violet light from its barrel at her foe. He rolled aside to evade them, continuing to swing around his builds before slamming them together, creating a pulse wave that knocked Black back, sending her crashing onto the ground.
In the meantime, Pikachu continued to fire lightning at Alpha, who was still enduring it. With its eyes narrowing in contempt, it threw its arms down onto the ground. Light emitted from the forming cracks, followed by several fiery blasts that engulfed the area. Ash gasped, looking around to find himself and his partner surrounded.
"Pika…" the Mouse Pokémon winced out with a grimace. His trainer readied a pair of Poké Balls in his right hand, pressing their buttons to enlarge them respectively.
"Oshawott! Palpitoad! Come on out!" he yelled, flinging them up into the air. They both opened, with bluish-white lights pouring out from them onto the ground, shaping into form and dissipating to reveal both the Sea Otter Pokémon and the Vibration Pokémon.
"Oshaaa!" the former exclaimed.
"Pal tohd!" the latter croaked.
"We need to take care of this fire!" their trainer pointed out, "Oshawott, Water Gun! Palpitoad, Hydro Pump!" he instructed of them. They both nodded, with the Sea Otter Pokémon spraying a spiral of water from his mouth to douse the surrounding flames. The Vibration Pokémon puffed his chest, unleashing a huge torrent of water from his mouth to put out the fire as well. Alpha watched on curiously.
"Those creatures that follow that one's orders…" it noted aloud, reaching for them, "How curious…" it remarked. All of a sudden, a blue streak of light shot by and nicked its shoulder, making it stumble back a step. It looked to see that it originated from what appeared to be a spinning top, which sped back towards Ash and his Pokémon, with the wind it generated putting out what remained of the fire. The Pokémon Trainer cracked a smile at the sight of the top, while another figure walked up beside him.
"Looks like Ben gave you the message, too," he noted, looking over at Gingka Hagane, who grinned as well. Taking notice, Rex grimaced.
"Great… Gingka's here…" he noted while palming his face, right before needing to fall to the ground to avoid getting struck by Black Knight's Smackhands. He formed his Slam Cannon, having its maw gather up ammunition from the ground. He fired just as she landed, but she was quick to cross her arms to block his shot.
"You've got more friends…" she noted curiously.
"Look, can we skip to the part where I take you down and you come quietly so that Alpha doesn't take your nanites and do whatever it wants?" Rex insisted in question, "Because I'm starting to think you'd rather that than actually getting away…" he inferred.
"You have no idea what you've done…" Black Knight growled out, forming a B.F.S. over her right arm before rushing out at her foe, who created his own blade to clash against hers, "EVOs were an integral part to Providence's, to the Consortium's being!" she shouted out in correction.
"So what, I was just supposed to let EVOs take over the world?!" he yelled back.
"You were never supposed to exist!" Black Knight roared, "You weren't meant to be an EVO that could control his nanites, you weren't meant to be able to cure other EVOs!" she proclaimed on, "And because of you, we've lost almost everything!" she added vehemently.
"You're taking that up with me?" Rex questioned back, "Man, you really fell off hard…" he realized, swiping mightily to send his opponent sliding away. In the meantime, Alpha lunged out at Ash and Gingka, who dove aside to evade it as it crashed against the ground.
"Go, Pegasus!" the latter of the two cried out to his beyblade, enticing it zip over and collide with the sentient nanite's right arm, making sparks fly upon contact.
"Pikachu, Thunderbolt!" Ash commanded of the Mouse Pokémon. Yellow electricity sparked around his body before he fired off a bolt of lightning that struck Alpha, who appeared to grimace. It looked over to the rest of the Consortium members around, either being dealt with by others or fleeing. The only one doing the latter was Reddick, who sounded panicked.
"Those nanites are not suited for you, human," Alpha proclaimed. All of a sudden, bolts of energy shot down randomly from the sky, striking the ground near Ash and Gingka as they yelped. Reddick then found himself entrapped in another mound of ice, struggling to break free, even as he used his gravitational power to crush his entrapment. As he did though, the sentient nanite took hold of him.
"N-No! Stop!" he pleaded with a stutter.
"You shall give me what I so desire," Alpha declared, making red lines of energy trail up to the hand grasping the bio-mechanical EVO. This time, he had no way to escape as he screamed with agony. The metal parts of his body rusted and clattered onto the ground. Ash and Gingka took to their feet and gasped upon seeing Reddick be completely absorbed.
"Oh, that's not good…" Bobo realized, lowering his pistols for a moment. The sentient nanite stamped its left foot down, and suddenly, everyone in its general vicinity fell to their hands and knees. Even some of the scout ships above started to list.
"Alpha's absorbed three of the five abilities from the meta-nanites…" Rebecca noted worriedly, "What'll happen if it gets the other two?" she inquired of Caesar, who grimaced a little.
"It'll be hard to stop…" he confirmed, clenching his fists.
"Ergh…!" Ash grunted, trying to push himself up against the sudden force of gravity.
"Now for the next one…" Alpha decided, turning its attention to Xanubian, who was also under the pressure as he was forced to his hands and knees. However, he teleported away in a flash of green light, causing the sentient nanite to narrow its eyes with contempt. "You can't escape, child," it proclaimed, intensifying its gravity as those around fell onto their stomachs in yelps. Overhearing, Rex looked over.
"Guys!" he yelled. Before he could go and assist, he was again stopped by Black Knight, who drew her Bad Axes to clash against his. "Seriously?!" he exclaimed in frustration.
"Why don't we let this play out, Rex?" she suggested as a retort, "See exactly what the twilight of humanity really means…" she added deviously. Alpha looked around, finding Xanubian lying upon the ground, trying to teleport away, only for the force of gravity to intensify around his body. The sentient nanite lifted him up from the ground in its left hand. Red lines of energy appeared along its extremity, absorbing the bio-mechanical EVO. Those watching looked on with disbelief as Alpha had him fully absorbed, closing its hands into fists.
"The age of Alpha… shall begin again!" it declared. From afar, Rex grimaced.
X
"Alpha now has powers from four of the five meta-nanites…" Rebecca confirmed from the scout ship, "And if it gets Black Knight's I doubt it'll be good," she mentioned.
"It won't end after it gets her nanites," Caesar chimed in, getting her attention, "It'll need the Omega to keep producing them for its body," he told her, "Rex, you need to get Black Knight out of here, along with yourself!" he warned through the communication line to his brother, who was still clashing his Bad Axes against his foe's.
"Would love to, but a little tied up at the moment, hermano…!" he responded as sparks were flying wildly.
"Rex, if Alpha gets Black's nanites, it'll be difficult for us to stop it," Rebecca mentioned over the communication line, "Probably impossible…" she added grimly.
"Don't worry, Holiday," Rex assured, managing to push Black back with a powerful swipe, "I'll get Black out of here," he affirmed. Meanwhile, Alpha stood up, looking itself over. It could see its various nanites flowing throughout its body, mixing with its own. However, it was unsatisfied. It turned towards the pair of Rex and Black, who continued clashing.
"Brother…" it uttered, starting to walk over to them.
"No, wait…!" Gingka grunted out.
"Rex, heads up!" Ash yelled to the human EVO, who was still engrossed in his battle against the Consortium leader. Neither appeared to be concerned over the approaching sentient nanite, whose body twitched and trembled.
"Brother…" it repeated, reaching its right hand out, "Come… to me—"
"RASENGAN!" a voice suddenly roared, causing it to perk up before a spiraling sphere of blue energy was slammed into its chest, making it slide back. That was enough to make Rex and Black perk up in surprise as they looked over. The former smirked.
"Well, if anyone was to show up…" he muttered out, seeing that it was none other than Naruto Uzumaki who had arrived, pushing Alpha back with his Rasengan.
"GET… BACK!" he bellowed, blasting the sentient nanite away as it toppled over onto the ground. As he did, the intense gravity around the others subsided, allowing for them to get back up.
"So ninja boy's here too, huh?" Bobo noted aloud, "Now all we need's the monster kid…" he muttered.
"Better to leave him out, knowing what Alpha could do thanks to him the last time," White noted seriously.
"Naruto!" Ash cried out, hurrying over to the jinchuriki alongside Gingka as he came down, "Thanks for getting here when you could!" he exclaimed gratefully.
"Hey, you're the ones who called…" Naruto noted in reply, "I didn't think trying to cheer Rex up would mean fighting some… whatever that thing is…" he mentioned. Overhearing, Rex groaned in embarrassment. Meanwhile, Black Knight clenched her fists.
The situation was unfavorable to her at the moment. As much as she wanted to settle things against Providence, she knew that she wouldn't win. The only way she would was if Alpha managed to remove Rex from the field of play. Forming the Boogie Pack at her back, she took off into the air.
"Hey!" Rex yelled upon noticing.
"Let her go, Rex!" Caesar advised through his communicator, causing him to stop in surprise, "She's less of a priority than Alpha right now," he pointed out.
"Yeah, I get that," his brother responded with his pointer finger pressed against his earpiece, "But now what's Alpha gonna… do…?" he asked slowly, widening his eyes. The sentient nanite had lifted itself up from the ground, though its body appeared to be swelling.
"Whoa," Bobo uttered.
"Holiday, what's happening?" Six asked with his right pointer finger up against his communicator in his ear.
"Alpha's being overloaded with nanites and can't seem to contain them," Rebecca responded, "All of you need to get out of there, now!" she insisted in warning. With that, those of Providence hurried away as quickly as they could, as Rex ran over to his multiversal friends.
"Come on!" he beckoned, waving for them to follow him. They did, while Alpha reached out for them.
"B…Br…Broth…errrr…!" it stammered out before its body suddenly appeared to implode, causing a shockwave that knocked everyone down.
"Ugh…" Ash groaned, pushing himself back up alongside Pikachu, Oshawott, and Palpitoad, "That was crazy…" he said.
"Peekah…" the Mouse Pokémon agreed, shaking his head as he got to his feet.
"So… was that like a delayed reaction from your Rasengan or something?" Rex assumed of Naruto as they stood up as well.
"It's possible that it caused an instability in Alpha's nanites, thus resulting in the event," Rebecca chimed in over his communicator, "Anyway, it's not over yet," she warned from the scout ship, "Alpha's readings are still showing on our scans," she pointed out. The dust was settling, revealing the sentient nanite in merely its humanoid-like form, looking at its arms. Nanites were overflowing throughout its body. It grimaced, faltering slightly.
"N-Not… yet…" it stammered weakly, looking up at its variety of foes, who were still prepared to fight, "I'll take… Omega…" it declared, "And begin… humanity's… twilight…" it mentioned further. It then disappeared in a green flash of light.
"…Did… we win?" Gingka inquired aloud as Pegasus returned to his right hand.
"No…" Rex responded, "I think this was just the beginning…" he admitted with narrowed eyes.
X
"Sorry I'm late," Ben apologized as he entered through the sliding doors to the conference hall of Providence's headquarters, "So Alpha really is back, huh?" he noted, walking over to Rex.
"No thanks to the Consortium," he remarked with crossed arms, "How'd they do it?" he inquired, looking over to his brother from the other side of the table they stood by.
"They must've been able to recreate a void gun to open a portal to the Null Void," he answered grimly, "Black Knight would know exactly what kind of tech I'd have," he pointed out.
"Can't you guys do the same thing you did last time and trap it somehow?" Gingka inquired of Rex and Ben.
"Little more complicated than that, Gingka…" the Ultimatrix bearer pointed out.
"And trapping it's not gonna do us any good if it breaks out again," the human EVO mentioned.
"So how do we beat it?" Bobo asked, putting his right hand up to his cheek.
"First, we need to make sure it doesn't find Black Knight," Rebecca advised in response, "Her abilities are ones that it could use to create a stable body for itself, even if it's overloaded with nanites like it was earlier," she explained.
"And thanks to the nanites it absorbed from each of the Consortium cronies…" Six continued.
"It has access to their abilities," White Knight concluded.
"Wait, but I thought you said Alpha's nanites were dying…" Rex chimed in.
"Dying, but still being reproduced at rapid rates," Caesar corrected as a reply, getting his attention, "Like how cancer cells keep multiplying faster than white blood cells can kill them," he explained on, "The same goes for the nanites it absorbed, too," he added.
"Which means it'll still have all the powers it absorbed, because those nanites will keep reproducing," Six pointed out.
"So we need to finish off Alpha before anything else…" Ben concluded.
"We also need to get to Black," White chimed in, "So long as she's in the picture, Alpha has a way to get a stable body," he pointed out.
"Doesn't that mean Rex is in trouble, too?" the Ultimatrix bearer inquired, arching an eyebrow.
"Rex is gonna be the bait to draw Alpha out," Rebecca confirmed, causing the human EVO to perk up in surprise.
"Of… course…" he grumbled out, slouching his shoulders with a groan, "Am I least gonna be able to punk-bust the thing?" he presumed.
"We need it completely destroyed so that it doesn't come back," Caesar affirmed, "I think your friend here's strong enough to help you with that," he mentioned, gesturing to Naruto.
"Me?" he uttered, pointing to himself.
"That attack you used against Alpha caused its molecular structure to break down almost completely," Rebecca explained, showing a visual of Alpha's body after it had been struck by the jinchuriki's Rasengan, "It was able to recover from it…" she pointed out with narrowed eyes.
"But that only happened after it became overloaded with nanites and imploded," Caesar continued.
"So… Alpha only overloaded because it was trying to heal itself…" Ben realized.
"And with its nanites along with the ones it stole replenishing and dying out at rapid rates, it'll be able to continuously sustain itself, in spite of being overwhelmed at points," White mentioned.
"Then the plan's settled," Six affirmed, placing his hands down onto the table, "Rex'll lure Alpha away to a safe location for him and Naruto to dispose of it," he told the group.
"And Black Knight?" the human EVO inquired curiously.
"You can leave her to me," Ben affirmed as he pointed to himself, "I got an idea on just how to handle her," he proclaimed confidently.
"What about us?" Ash asked for himself and Gingka, getting their attentions.
"You guys might wanna stay out of this one…" the Ultimatrix bearer advised to their surprise, "Kinda serious end of the world stuff here…" he pointed out.
"Huh?!" the pair exclaimed.
"Hey, we helped out a lot back there, didn't we?!" Gingka emphatically inquired.
"Yeah!" Ash argued.
"Peekah, pika!" Pikachu squeaked out upon his shoulder.
"Guys, I appreciate the thoughts," Rex chimed in as he approached, "And I know you can handle big threats from your worlds, too," he mentioned, placing a hand onto their shoulders, "We just don't want you guys getting hurt on our watch, okay?" he told them. Both Ash and Gingka looked to each other for a moment in thought before sighing with resignation.
"Okay…" they responded simultaneously.
"So where do we start lookin' for Alpha?" Bobo asked.
"We should start by finding Black Knight first," White insisted, "Her nanites are similar to Rex's," he pointed out, "and with them, it could create a sustainable body for itself," he mentioned further.
"I'll start running biometric scans right away," Rebecca assured, "Once we've got a lock, we'll make our move," she affirmed to the rest of the group, who all nodded. Minutes later, Rex was out on the balcony, watching as both Ash and Gingka departed into their respective MPG portals, which closed soon after.
"By the way…" the human EVO began, turning to the Ultimatrix bearer with a disgruntled expression, "thanks for blabbing about how down I was…" he muttered sarcastically, making his friend.
"H-Hey, come on…" he pleaded with a stutter, holding his hands up, "I just told them how you were doing, not to come here…" he pointed out.
"Huh…" Rex sighed out, "Well… I asked for action, and now I got the worst kind of it," he noted aloud, staring off into the distance.
"Yeah, fighting for the fate of the world really puts a lot on you…" Ben admitted as he put his arms down, "But hey, you've done it before," he mentioned with a grin, causing Rex to crack a smile of his own.
"We all have!" Naruto chimed in, holding his right fist out to the pair, "And we've done it together, too," he added, giving off a confident smirk. Ben chuckled, bumping his fist against his. They looked over to Rex expectantly, as he blinked in surprise. He and his multiversal friends had saved the world together once before. And now, they'd get to do it again.
FLASHBACK
Shinno had escaped. In spite of being reduced to a withered old man thanks to Sasuke's earlier jutsu disrupting his chakra, he had gone through a trapdoor that led him to where the Zero-Tails was cocooned. Ultimate Echo Echo led the way as Naruto and Rex followed him after Sasuke to the chamber where their foe awaited.
"This place absorbs the chakra collected by the Zero-Tails and converts it to power!" Shinno told his quartet of enemies, "Now that you morons are here, any chakra you release will be absorbed as more fuel for Ancor Vantian!" he proclaimed, "Which means you all can't do a thing!" he pointed out.
"Newsflash, genius!" Ultimate Echo Echo yelled before leaping down onto the platform where the withered man stood, "Not all of us need chakra," he pointed out, aiming his right hand forward as a pair of sonic discs floated off from his shoulders.
"Exactly!" Rex agreed as he hopped down thanks to his Punk Busters, putting his goggles on over his eyes, "Now that you're just an old man, taking you and that freaky worm thing should be a snap," he mentioned, while Naruto and Sasuke descended onto the platform as well.
"If that thing absorbs all the chakra around, you're at a disadvantage yourself, right?" the latter of the two inquired of Shinno, who breathed somewhat raggedly as he held his bruised stomach.
"You're all a bit slow to catch on," he pointed out to their surprise, "I didn't lead you all the way to the core of Ancor Vantian for that…" he mentioned.
"What are you talking about?" Rex asked. At that moment, Shinno released what remained of his dark chakra into the cocooned Zero-Tails. The cocoon itself bulged as more tubular attachments shot out from it to the group's surprise. From there, it had some wrap around the withered man, pulling him in.
"Hey!" Ultimate Echo Echo shouted, unleashing sonic blasts from his discs, only for them to get blocked by some of tubular tendrils that emerged from the cocoon.
"Hahahahahhaa!" Shinno cackled, "What did you think Ancor Vantian was? Some kind of extravagant floating fortress?!" he inquired of his enemies, "You really believe I would meddle with something as dangerous as a Tailed Beast just for that?!" he questioned on while still being wrapped up in the cocoon, "It's bigger than anything you can imagine, even capable of obliterating the Five Great Nations!" he proclaimed.
"Wait, what?!" Rex yelped out.
"It's equipped with the ultimate weapon of destruction!" the withered man proclaimed, becoming completely engulfed in the cocoon, "Witness its glorious power!" he bellowed, "RRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!" he roared out.
"That doesn't sound good…" Ultimate Echo Echo noted with narrowed eyes. And it wasn't. By combining himself with the Zero-Tails cocooned body, Shinno was able to have Ancor Vantian fire off destructive beams of energy that seared across the horizon. If he wasn't a challenge before, he surely was now.
With the inability to use chakra, Naruto and Sasuke were at a severe disadvantage. And even with their abilities intact, Ultimate Echo Echo and Rex were still drained from the fight before. All four of them were easily captured in the grasps of the multiple arms spawned from the cocoon, getting swung around and slammed against each other.
"Damn…" the human EVO cursed, struggling to form even a single build from his body.
"How do like that, you puny brats?!" Shinno roared in question, "This is the true might of the Sky Emperor!" he proclaimed.
"…Sky Emperor…?" Rex repeated in a grunt, gripping the appendage that was holding him with his gloved hands, "Pal, you only stand a chance against us 'cause you turned into some freaky monster!" he pointed out, "And I know someone just as crazy I've taken down before!" he mentioned with a smirk, "So try and prove me and my friends wrong!" he challenged.
"Why you little…!" Shinno growled, "Fine, if that's what you want!" he roared, unleashing several of the cocoon's appendages out at the human EVO, seemingly striking him in a flurry of dust.
"Rex, no!" Ultimate Echo Echo cried out.
"You bastard!" Naruto yelled.
"AHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Shinno cackled, "And now, you're all next!" he proclaimed. However, he suddenly took notice of a blue glow emitting from the dust cloud, widening his eyes. Blue lines of energy were trailing down a majority of the arms spawned from the cocoon. They all suddenly burst apart. "What?!" Shinno exclaimed. All four of his foes landed down upon the platform. Sasuke narrowed his eyes onto Rex.
"What did you just do?" he asked of him.
"I just shut down some of that thing's connection to the place," he answered, flexing his fingers before closing his hand into a fist, "Since it's like a machine, my nanites can do their thing with it," he mentioned.
"Seriously?!" Naruto exclaimed in shock.
"Nice going, Rex," Ultimate Echo Echo complimented.
"So what if you're able to sever part of the Zero-Tail's connection to Ancor Vantian?!" Shinno shouted out, shooting out a plethora of appendages towards his foes ago, this time getting only Sasuke and Naruto as his other two foes leapt away, "I can easily restore it before you can hope to destroy it all!" he proclaimed as more tubular attachments connected to the walls of the chamber, "And now, I'll take the chakra from these fools to ensure my absolute victory!" he declared on.
"This is painful," Sasuke muttered, causing him to perk up in confusion, "To think that someone who calls himself the Sky Emperor wouldn't know the limits of his own power…" he noted, "I mean, it's beyond pitiful…" he added with a smirk, "It's pathetic!" he yelled, activating his Cursed Seal as his purple chakra was getting siphoned away into the cocooned Tailed Beast.
"Just what do you think you're doing?!" Shinno asked as he grinned wickedly from within the Zero-Tails, "If you wanted to die faster, I could've helped with that!" he pointed out.
"I get it now…" Naruto suddenly said, much to his surprise, "Thanks for the tip, Sasuke," he remarked to his friend, "You know, if you want our chakra that badly…" he continued, "then we'll give you all we got!" he declared. An explosion of orange chakra left his body. Trying to siphon it off, the Zero-Tails was struggling to contain it, as its body was swelling uncontrollably.
"Impossible!" Shinno exclaimed, "You have more chakra than even the Zero-Tails can absorb?!" he questioned emphatically.
"Sweet!" Rex yelled with a pump of his fist.
"But it isn't over yet," Ultimate Echo Echo noted, "I got an idea," he pointed out to the human EVO, getting his attention. After Naruto drew upon a multitude of shadow clones to break free of Shinno's grasp, he distracted him by having his copies lunge out, drawing his spawned appendages away to strike them. In the meantime, he and another clone were forming a Rasengan from the unleashed chakra, having it spiral as it glowed a bright orange over the jinchuriki's palm.
"You little…" Shinno growled, "DIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEE!" he roared out angrily, having one appendage lunge out and pierce through Naruto's clone in the midst of the Rasengan's formation, causing it to burst into smoke.
"No!" Naruto gasped, seeing the energy sphere start to bubble uncontrollably.
"Naruto!" Rex suddenly cried out, getting his attention as he saw the human EVO fly over via his Sky Slyder. He stuck his hands out at the Rasengan as blue lines shined off of them, causing it to suddenly regain its form, having a blue-glowing center. Naruto blinked in shock.
"How…?" he uttered out.
"Ben thought I deserved to try my own Rasengan with you," Rex replied, "Plus, figured with my nanites and your chakra, we'd finish this guy off for sure," he added confidently.
"Yeah!" Naruto responded with a wide grin. Together, they both dove towards their foe. "Tornado…" the jinchuriki began.
"Nanite…" the human EVO continued.
"RASENGAN!" they exclaimed simultaneously, throwing their combined attack out at the cocooned Zero-Tails. In defense, it formed a barrier, strengthening it with its dark chakra. Its enemies struck, pushing the wall back, but not breaking it. In the midst of the collision, however, Sasuke broke free. With his Sharingan, he could pinpoint each of the wall's weaknesses.
"I see," he said as he landed upon the platform, drawing his sword from its scabbard, "So that's how it works," he concluded.
"Hey," Ultimate Echo Echo chimed in, getting his attention as he glanced back at the hyper-evolved Sonorosian behind him, "Mind if I lend a hand?" he requested, readying a set of sonic discs from his shoulders. Shinno was desperately trying to hold off Naruto and Rex from breaking through the last of his defenses.
"This is over," Sasuke suddenly remarked, causing him to perk up in surprise. The bird-like crackling of his foe's Chidori made him look up to see the rogue shinobi coming down in his Curse Mark form. But that wasn't the only thing heading for the Zero-Tails. Several of Ultimate Echo Echo's sonic discs multiplied around him, all aimed at the cocooned Tailed Beast.
"SONIC… OVERRRLOOOAAAAAADDDD!" he bellowed mightily, unleashing an array of sonic blasts onto the wall, causing its structure to crack up. That allowed for Sasuke to easily slash through it with his lightning-imbued blade. And in turn, Naruto and Rex slammed their Rasengan onto the cocooned Zero-Tails, sending it flying out as it crashed into the wall in a flurry of dirt and dust. Both the jinchuriki and the human EVO landed down upon the platform.
"Well… you were right about one thing…" the former muttered out in between breaths, "You damn well don't deserve to be called 'doctor'…" he remarked.
"Damn right…" Rex agreed with a smirk, sharing a fist bump with his friend in wake of their victory.
END FLASHBACK
"Yeah, let's do it again," the human EVO insisted, bumping his fist against those of his multiversal friends in solidarity. Just then, he heard a ping in his ear, enticing him to immediately press his pointer finger against his communicator. "Holiday?" he guessed.
"Rex, we've got a lock on Black Knight," the research officer confirmed over the line, "She's in Chicago," she mentioned.
"Alright, got it," the goggled teen responded, putting his hand down.
"Go time?" Ben assumed with a grin.
"Let's get this over with," Rex said determinedly.
X
"Huh… huh…" Black breathed in exhaustion, hiding in an alleyway behind a dumpster down in the city she had flown to. In spite of her bravado earlier, she was horrified when Alpha had absorbed the Consortium members' powers and killed them. She knew she was next. All she could do was distract it with the likes of people and machines it could feast upon for nourishment.
A rumble suddenly went off. Car alarms were going off randomly, with more and more blaring with each new rumble. Screaming people were running frantically, enticing her to peek out. To her surprise, Alpha hadn't taken on a monstrous form like it had before. It was its humanoid self, twitching wildly as reverberations emitted uncontrollably from its body, causing tremors all throughout the city.
"Wh-Where… a-a-a-arreee… yoouuuuuu…?" its voice echoed eerily as its body swelled for a moment. Black grimaced, ready to get away as she formed herself a hoverboard at her legs, starting to fly off. However, she was suddenly caught off guard by a multicolored ray of light that struck her squarely in the back, sending her crashing onto the roof of a nearby building. She pushed herself up, looking back in surprise to see who had attacked her.
It was a silicon-based alien made of extremely durable crystal. His body was overall purple, with several dark lines and spots. His hands and face were magenta, and he also sported six magenta shards on his back, two on his chest, and one on the top of his head that resembled a horn. His face consisted of a mouth and one large green eye at the center, while the Ultimatrix symbol rested upon the center of his chest.
"So you're Black Knight, huh?" he assumed, landing down upon the roof as she got to her feet.
"And you must be the man from the rift…" she presumed back, "I have to thank you for that, by the way," she mentioned on, "Without that event, we never would've found a way to harness the technology that Caesar possessed," she pointed out. Just then, someone else landed behind her.
"That technology's not going to be in your hands any longer," White Knight declared, clenching his fists. Black scoffed, lunging out at him first. Meanwhile, Alpha took notice of the trio battling atop the roof. Its body kept twitching as its eyes narrowed curiously.
"Th…There… youuuu… arrrreee…" it stammered out. All of a sudden though, a kunai flew out in front of its face with a paper bomb tag on it, exploding promptly. It flew back, seemingly unharmed as it looked around for where the weapon had been thrown from.
"Hey, Alpha!" Rex's voice called out, getting its attention as it looked to see the human EVO hovering above via his Sky Slyder with Naruto aboard, "Looking for some good nanites?" he inquired almost mockingly.
"B…Br…Br…Brother…" the sentient nanite growled out, still twitching. Meanwhile, high above the city was the Keep, where Rebecca, Bobo, Six, Caesar, and Noah were.
"So while they're keeping Black and Alpha separated, you guys can evacuate the city," the latter of the group noted.
"It's precautionary, but necessary to avoid collateral damage," the head researcher pointed out, "especially if Rex and Naruto are forced into a fight in the streets," she mentioned further.
"And we're not jumping in the fray because…?" Bobo started to question.
"We can't distract them, especially with so much on the line," Six responded, "Right now, we can only put our faith in them," he affirmed.
"Right… faith…" the chimpanzee EVO repeated sarcastically. Down below, Alpha unleashed a massive stream of fire from its left hand towards its foes, who flew aside. Naruto hopped off of the hoverboard, crossing his fingers.
"Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu!" he exclaimed, making several puffs of smoke emerge around him before dissipating to reveal dozens of copies of him, all of which drew kunai and shuriken that they flung at the sentient nanite. It weaved around the various ninja tools, making bursts of energy like lightning shoot down from the sky. They struck many of the clones, causing them to explode into white puffs of smoke.
"I…I…I have… no n-need… for… you…" it barely managed to say as its body twitched. All of a sudden, all of the other clones found themselves getting encased in ice before being forced down to the ground by a sudden change in gravity. They crashed down and burst in puffs of smoke, though there was no trace seemingly of the real Naruto. As it turned out, he had made his way behind Alpha, readying a Rasengan over his right hand.
"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" he roared, ready to strike. However, the sentient nanite suddenly disappeared in a flash of red light. "Huh?!" the shinobi gasped, only to suddenly see his foe appear beside him, unleashing a torrent of fire to blow him away.
"B-Br-Bring… me… my… BRRRROOOTTTTHHHHERRRRR!" it demanded as its body continued swelling.
"Ask and you'll receive, Alpha!" Rex remarked in response as he dove in, forming his arms into the Bad Axes to hack off the sentient nanite's arms, causing it to cry out in pain before managing to reform them. It glared toward the human EVO, who was flying away. Naruto followed, along with a few other clones. From the Keep, those gathered looked at the radar to see the energy signals of their colleagues and foes.
"Looks like they're leading Alpha out of the city," Caesar confirmed.
"That gives Ben and White more time to take care of Black Knight," Rebecca noted on, putting her hand up to her communicator, "White, how's the situation down there?" she inquired of her superior.
"Could be better," he responded through the communication line to her surprise. Back atop the roof, Chromastone was ensnared in Black's Blast Caster, getting swung around before winding up flung against the wall of the entryway nearby, falling down in a grunt. White had to hop back to avoid his enemy's continuous lashes, needing to flip aside at one point. "She might not be able to combine with her colleagues since they're all dead, but she's still got power equal to if not greater than Rex," he pointed out.
"Gee, thanks, White…" Rex muttered sarcastically over the communication line, "Didn't Ben say he had a plan to deal with her?" he inquired on.
"Working on it!" Chromastone responded as he got to his feet, firing off beams of multicolored light from his fists towards Black. She jumped over them with the Punk Busters she formed over her legs, attempting to crash into him. He dove aside to evade her, followed by White lunging in and striking her from behind with a right hook, sending her flying over the edge of the building. She formed her Boogie Pack, flying back up towards her foes.
"If you hadn't ruined everything back then, none of this would be happening!" she proclaimed angrily as she created the B.F.S. over her right arm, attempting to slash the Crystalsapien as he gasped in surprise, crossing his arms to block her attack.
"What are you… talking about?!" he questioned, enduring her attack before sliding back several feet.
"If it weren't for you…" she began, reforming her arms and back, "maybe Alpha would've created something pure with its nanites…" she presumed to her enemies' shock, "And since it would've taken Rex's Omega…" she continued, "no one would've stopped it…" she affirmed, clenching her fists tightly.
"You can't know that for sure…" White pointed out.
"Maybe…" Black suggested in response, "But better that than suffering in a world of no consequences…" she declared, charging out at the Crystalsapien.
"Ben!" White cried out, seeing his colleague not attempting to get away, even as his foe transformed her arms into the Smackhands. He merely smacked the Ultimatrix dial at his chest, enveloping himself in a flash of emerald light just as Black punched. As the luminosity subsided, it revealed that the Crystalsapien had seemingly disappeared into thin air. The Consortium leader growled.
"Where did you go…?" she inquired as she looked around.
"I think you forgot just you and your buddies funded Providence for in the first place," a techno-sounding voice similar to Ben's echoed, causing her to gasp as she looked around for the source. All of a sudden, she noticed her body starting to turn black with green, circuitry-like lines. She started panicking, feeling her body seize up as she tried to pry away whatever black substance was coating her. She eventually was covered head to toe in the substance, as the Ultimatrix symbol rested at the center of her chest. White blinked in realization.
"That's you, right Ben?" he guessed.
"Yep," the Mechamorph responded as he poked his head up from Black's left shoulder, "Figured since nanites are machines and that Miss Knight here's covered in 'em…" he began, "I can give them a little downgrade," he proclaimed.
"What…?!" Black gasped out, writhing for control of her body back as she attempted to build weapons from it to try and get Upgrade to come off of her, but to no avail. With him fully merged with her, he began deactivating her nanites one after another before they simultaneously shut down. He then oozed himself off of her, taking on his humanoid form. The armoring around the Consortium leader fell off in pieces at her feet, as she dropped to her knees. "No… NO!" she screamed angrily, only to get clocked square in the jaw by White's right fist, falling down unconscious.
"Ouch," Upgrade said with a wince, "Then again, I think she deserved that," he admitted aloud.
"Holiday, we've taken care of Black Knight," White communicated to those aboard the Keep, "Has Rex led Alpha out of the city yet?" he inquired on.
"Not quite," Rebecca responded, "Alpha's catching up fast to both him and Naruto," she pointed out.
"They're gonna need to pull off somethin' big to take care of that mook," Bobo noted aloud.
"If push comes to shove, we can just use the void gun to send Alpha away," Caesar suggested.
"And let it potentially cause trouble in another world?" Noah presumed in response, "Yeah, no thanks…" he muttered. Back in the city, Naruto and his clones ran along the glass windows of the buildings, heading towards the desolate outskirts. Rex flew by, glancing back to see Alpha in pursuit of them. Its body was disappearing and reappearing in flashes of red light, closing in on them. At one point, it managed to reach one of the shinobi's clones, latching onto him.
"Wha- AH!" he yelped, losing his grip on the side of the building as he started plummeting.
"O…Om…Om…Omega…!" the sentient nanite stuttered out.
"Caesar, what's happening with Alpha?" Rex asked before needing to avoid a spray of fire and energy bolts launched his way.
"We told you, its body's overflowing with both its nanites and the ones it took from the Consortium," his brother explained in response over the communication line, "So long as it doesn't have a stable body, it'll continue reproducing for its dying nanites," he mentioned on.
"And there's a real possibility that if it explodes again, we could have another Nanite Event on our hands…" Rebecca added, much to the human EVO's shock.
"BRRROTHHHHEEERRRRRRRRRRR!" Alpha bellowed as it closed in on him, causing him to gasp in surprise. Luckily, a Naruto clone leapt in, tackling it aside.
"Keep going, Rex!" he shouted out, "I'll meet you there!" he promised, right before getting blasted by a bolt of yellow energy like lightning, bursting into smoke. Gritting his teeth, the human EVO pressed onward, flying toward an abandoned construction site he spotted. The jinchuriki and a couple of his clones hopped over alongside him, landing down together.
"Okay, I guess the plan's to make that big Rasengan we did the last time, right?" Rex assumed as he reformed his legs.
"Yeah… I got a better idea," Naruto affirmed with a confident smirk. Meanwhile, Alpha's body was continuing to swell and glitch uncontrollably.
"O…Omeg…a… shall… be… m-m-mi-mine…!" it voiced out as several of the buildings around it rumbled from the sudden force of gravity, with windows shattering simultaneously as glass shards plummeted onto the streets below.
"Heyo!" Rex's voice called out, getting the sentient nanite's attention as it spotted the human EVO waving to it from afar, "Looking for me?" he guessed tauntingly, running off to the side. Narrowing its eyes, Alpha pursued him. It veered around, grabbing its target and pulling him in.
"Y…You…You… can't… es…cape… me…!" it proclaimed, drawing Rex into its body, "Your… O…Ome…Omega… is… m-mine…!" it declared proudly. However, its eyes suddenly widened. Its captive smirked.
"What's wrong?" he inquired, "Not what you wanted?" he assumed, bursting in a puff of smoke to the shock of the sentient nanite. It then heard a loud buzzing nearby, getting its attention as it turned to see Naruto holding up a Rasengan that had light around it similar to a fuma shuriken, with two of his clones helping to form it.
"Whoa…!" Rex yelped, having thrown on his goggles to shield his eyes from the billowing dust, "Uh… you sure this is safe for me to touch…?" he inquired of the jinchuriki.
"Just hurry up already!" he and his clones shouted in response.
"Okay, okay!" the human EVO repeated in understand, approaching the enhanced Rasengan. He held his left hand out, making blue glowing lines appear along it as he put his hand atop the spiraling sphere. His nanites started flowing their energy into it, making it glow a bright sky blue. "Whoa…" he uttered, smiling with excitement.
"Yeah, exactly," Naruto said, "Okay, let's do this!" he declared, looking out towards Alpha with his clones and Rex. Its body was still twitching and swelling uncontrollably.
"B…Bro…Brotherrrr…!" Alpha stammered out, lunging towards its foes.
"Still not your hermano, Alpha," Rex affirmed, making certain he had a good grip on the jutsu with Naruto, "But you know, maybe we could've worked something out," he admitted, "You just broke that by trying to take over anything living," he pointed out as the sentient nanite closed in.
"BRRRROOOTTTTHHHHHHHHERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!" it screamed angrily, ready to strike.
"Here goes!" Naruto exclaimed as he and Rex planted their feet down upon the ground, "Wind Style…" he began.
"Omega…" Rex continued, cracking a grin.
"RASENSHURIKEN!" they exclaimed together, throwing the enlarged, shuriken-like mass of energy forward, hitting Alpha fiercely. It screeched with agony, its body getting slashed in every place possible as it began dissipating. From afar, Ben and White watched on, enduring the force of the rushing wind that followed as a result of the attack. Those aboard the Keep awaited whatever would happen next.
As the wind finally settled, so too did the dust cloud, revealing the fading embers of Alpha's body. It was trying to reform itself, but to no avail as its body was reduced to nothing but thin air. Breathing heavily with their hands held out, Rex and Naruto looked to each other and smiled.
"Awesome, right?" the latter presumed of his friend.
"Yeah…" he agreed, "That was awes— OWOWOWOWOWOWOW!" he suddenly exclaimed in pain, grabbing his left arm. Both his glove and jacket sleeve had gotten completely torn away, with several cuts across his limb. "Dude…!" he winced out, "Couldn't you have warned me?!" he inquired of the jinchuriki, who just chuckled.
"You were the guy who wanted to make it epic!" he remarked back.
"Holiday, do you have any readings on Alpha?" White inquired of the chief researcher over his communicator.
"No," she confirmed in reply, "Any residuals are completely gone," she mentioned further, "They did it," she said with a smile aboard the Keep.
"Never doubted for a second," Bobo affirmed smugly as his arms were folded over his chest.
"Nice going, Rex," Six complimented. As he pulled his goggles off, the human EVO let out a relaxed sigh of relief. In spite of everything, he was happy that peace was properly restored to the world. And now, seemingly no one would take it back.

Now you'd think this is where our story ends, yes? Far from it. You see, we still have a few matters left to settle…
"So Black Knight's in a supermax prison for life?" Noah inquired as he, Rex, and Ben were in Providence's gym, playing on the basketball court.
"With no chance of parole," the human EVO mentioned as he threw up a shot, only for it to bounce off of the backboard, "Huh…" he sighed, "At least that's one less thing to worry about," he noted, "Who knows if there are other EVOs who avoided the cure," he inferred, glancing off to the side for a moment.
"Hey, don't get hung up on the what ifs," Ben advised as he picked up the ball, shooting his own shot with the basketball, which went straight through the hoop, "Just be happy you saved the world," he insisted, causing Rex to let out a chuckle.
"But what about that Null Void place?" Noah asked curiously, "You said it's a dimension both our world and yours," he pointed out, "There could be other worlds that wind up connected and maybe more monsters start showing up on other worlds," he mentioned further.
"That's where we'll come in," Ben affirmed, picking up the basketball and tossing it over to Rex, who caught it.
"Yeah, meaning you," he corrected, "I can't really do much without an MPG like you guys…" he pointed out, dribbling the ball, "I mean, isn't it annoying to go pick me up in one universe, take me to another for something, then have to drop me off back home?" he questioned of the Ultimatrix bearer before he could offer a retort.
"Well… I…" he tried to say, sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck.
"It's cool," the human EVO assured, concentrating as he made another shot with the basketball. This time, it bounced off of the backboard and went through the hoop with a swish. "Once that frog guy's got my MPG done, I'll go do my thing in other worlds like you guys," he affirmed confidently. Ben cracked a grin.
"Well, you won't have to wait any longer," a gruff voice affirmed, getting their attentions as they blinked in surprise. The looked over to Noah, who gave off a look of confusion.
"Uh, that wasn't me…" he said, shaking his head.
"So this is the famous Rex Salazar I've heard so much about," Azmuth noted, sitting atop the blonde-haired teen's head. He yelped in surprise as the Galvan hopped down onto the court floor. "I must admit, he reminds me a lot of you, Ben Tennyson," he mentioned over to the Ultimatrix bearer.
"Uh, in a good way, or…?" he started to inquire, arching an eyebrow.
"I uncovered the situation with the Null Void a while ago after your disappearance from Universe-Fifty-Seven the first time," Azmuth pointed out, "From what I've gathered, it seems to be only connected to your two worlds for the time being, but that could soon change," he affirmed, reaching into the left sleeve of his robe for something, "Which is certainly why someone like Rex here would need this," he said, pulling out a small, box-like contraption with a button atop it. He pressed it, causing it to morph in a green flash of light before revealing an MPG, which the human EVO gasped excitedly upon seeing. "This device has coordinates to all other universes that Ben and his friends have already visited thus far," the alien genius confirmed, "Of course, you have the option to travel to different universes should you see fit," he added on.
"Oh, definitely," Rex responded, picking up the device in his gloved right hand.
"Thanks for finishing the MPG for him, Azmuth," Ben said gratefully to the Galvan, "I know it probably took long to get all the stuff for it together," he pointed out.
"Not at all," the alien genius retorted to his surprise, "The only reason there was a delay in distribution was because I was developing more MPGs for future use," he explained, "I still am, in fact," he mentioned.
"Wait… so I could've given Rex his MPG a long time ago if I asked?!" the Ultimatrix bearer inquired out of shock.
"Yes," Azmuth simply replied, "You could've asked to have one for your new girlfriend as well," he mentioned with a cheeky smirk, causing Ben to blush a bright red with embarrassment, "I'll leave the finished MPGs in your grandfather's care for the time being, and you can distribute them at your leisure to whomever you see fit," he told him, walking off, "Just try not to play favorites," he advised further, disappearing in a green flash of light.
"…I'm… so lost…" Noah finally said, followed by an embarrassed groan from Ben as he palmed his face. Meanwhile, Rex stared at his MPG with a smile, excited for his future as a part of the multiversal team with his friends.
And so Rex finally got his MPG… A well-deserved reward for all of his efforts as a hero in his universe. His story spans across the multiverse as one where he was revered as the very person to bring an end to the fight against EVOs. And as time would go on, he would be the one who would be responsible for the multiverse's salvation.
But that's another story entirely. For now, we can all thank the man who made the way for a new generation. Godspeed, Rex Salazar. May you find peace beyond the stars.
ENDING
Insert "Kitakaze" by SIX LOUNGE
Opens with Rex lying in a pile of rubble, unaware of anything that's happening as he blinks a couple of times. He then finds himself pulled free thanks to Six, who seems shocked to see him alive. What follows is a scene where he ends up curing his first EVO, much to everyone's disbelief. Rex then blinks, finding himself in his room at Providence. He cracks a grin, throwing on his jacket and gloves, along with his trademark goggles. We see him jump from the Keep, forming his arms into the Smackhands before diving towards a monstrous EVO.
As Rex goes about fending off EVOs, fighting against the likes of the Pack, and making new friends, he runs into Ben. The two stare at each other indifferently at first, but then bump fists in solidarity. They're joined by Ash, Naruto, and Gingka, laughing together.
We see Rex using his Funchucks to battle back a mutated Kevin Levin before the scene shifts to him flying around the battlefield of the Fourth Great Ninja War with his Boogie Pack, heading over to battle against the likes of the Akatsuki's forces. He draws his B.F.S. to slash off the arms of the mech suits in Republic City before using his Sky Slyder to fly after Equalist planes, using his Blast Caster to whip them to knock them out of the sky. As he lands down, he removes his goggles and blinks in surprise to see Kuvira there, blushing a little.
As time passes, we see him embroiled in battle against a dragon in Fiore alongside some of the Dragon Slayers, followed by needing to join the likes of Fairy Tail in their fight with Tartaros, joining Gajeel Redfox as they take down Torafuzar together. Afterwards, we see him lying down on a field of grass, folding his arms behind his head as he looks up at the bright blue sky. He reaches his right hand up and closes it into a fist determinedly, grinning as he's more than prepared for whatever's next.
As he stands up, he's joined by Six, Bobo, Rebecca, Noah, Caesar, White Knight, and his friends from the Omni Force. He smiles gratefully, putting on his goggles and charging ahead to his next adventure…
END ENDING
I DID IT! Oh, this chapter was the first one in a while that took longer than I would've liked it to. With the new work schedule in place, along with a couple other things taking up more of my time, I really couldn't find myself the opportunity to get large chunks of this chapter done. Even still, I do feel like I could've done more.
But that aside, being five chapters of 100 done with this story, I'm content thus far. There'll be more up ahead, so stay tuned! Thanks for reading!
