Chapter 362 The Tale Of Okegiga

Upon hearing Okegiga's gratitude, Evan remained silent.

What good was the promise of an ancient Centaur who lived eight hundred years ago? This was just an illusion created by Gryffindor. In the real world, Evan and Okegiga didn't even know each other. Not to mention that the Centaur himself had become a substanceless ghost.

Evan's mind was still preoccupied with the yellow mist. He had a sense of having read something similar in some ancient magical book.

He seemed to know what those monsters were, but he couldn't recall it.

On the ground, the bodies of the shattered monsters still emitted repugnant buzzing.

A large number of yellow worms sprouted from the remains of their bodies, spread across the floor, advanced desperately, and slowly dragged the fragmented flesh back to its original position.

They fought for flesh, regardless of whose body it fell from, and gathered it again.

Evan had the impression that these monsters were actually composed of countless numbers of these pale yellow worms, and that the horrific form he had just seen was only a manifestation of their collective will.

The monsters' buzzing continued, as if they were giving commands to the worms.

The repugnant scene once again interrupted Evan's thoughts.

He saw many worms beginning to approach him and Okegiga, with a shiny slime behind them, and the two quickly retreated and dodged.

"They're not dead yet!" Okegiga warned aloud, but he didn't know what to do.

This was completely beyond the Centaur's knowledge. He would rather face a fierce fire dragon than confront these abnormal and repugnant worms.

Evan closed his eyes and focused on perceiving the magic in the air. He discovered that all the magic linked to these creatures came from inside the monster's hollow head.

A spark of inspiration shone in his mind, and he hurriedly said, "Attack their heads, there should be a bright pink core inside; that's their weak point."

Evan remembered the statues of these monsters he had seen in the temple before; the ones that had turned into stone statues might anatomically represent these monsters more intuitively.

Within their hollow green heads, there was an irregular elliptical pink core.

He incanted a spell and waved his wand.

A silver-white light passed like a sharp arrow, hitting the hole-filled head of a monster.

It died, its body stopped moving, and the buzzing ceased.

On the ground, many of the yellow worms dragging flesh and blood also died.

Seeing this, Okegiga rushed forward and pierced the heads of the two remaining monsters with his spear, ending their wicked lives.

In the dark tunnel, neither of them spoke.

It was an abnormal, thrilling, and dangerous battle. Looking at the fragmented flesh before them, both tried to hold their breath.

Okegiga gestured for Evan to climb onto his back. He accelerated and ran forward. When the surroundings returned to normal and the smell of blood faded, he gradually slowed down.

"What disgusting creations of that evil god!" Okegiga said resentfully. "He had been working on creating these things before. I never expected him to succeed!"

"How did those fallen Centaurs do it?" Evan inquired.

"Flesh and blood, lots of flesh and blood," Okegiga said disgustedly. "The evil god instructed them on how to do it. They captured many creatures in the forest and cruelly killed them. They mixed the flesh and blood together and summoned the monsters through a ritual."

The peak of the Temple of the Moon absorbed the power of the stars and turned it into pure magic, aiding the fallen Centaurs in achieving such malevolent magic.

Evan did not know what the beginning of the ritual was, but it was definitely one of the darkest magics he knew.

With modern magic, not even the most malicious black magic involved such quantities of flesh and blood, resembling more the mysterious sorcery used by ancient Greek sorcerers and some Dark Wizards from Africa to invoke demons.

In "Secrets of the Darkest Art," such magic could summon a lower-ranked demon by sacrificing a corpse in a special ceremony.

However, the records of this magic were not very detailed. Evan had been studying it for a long time without finding many clues, unable to understand exactly where the demons came from.

His theoretical research was stagnant, and he couldn't obtain a corpse to summon a demon. Therefore, he never managed to thoroughly study this magic.

"Two years ago, I found the remains of the evil god in the depths of the swamp. There is an ancient temple left by humans. It was completely abandoned," Okegiga said remorsefully, "I ignored the warnings given by the elder and the planets, and to demonstrate my foolish bravery, I entered alone..."

Evan remained silent, listening to Okegiga recounting his own story.

"The ruins were vast and quiet, filled with plants I had never seen before," Okegiga said. "The top of them had been buried in the swamp mud, and then, through a blocked passage, I reached a very spacious circular hall on the ground floor. The surface of the hall was the size of the entire Temple of the Moon."

As described by Okegiga, Evan's mind conjured a temple as grand and classical as the astonishing buildings of ancient Greece and ancient Egypt.

This was a landmark left by the ancient sorcerers. There should have been countless mysterious magics hidden in it, silently testifying to the glorious era that had passed.

"What was in that hall?" Evan inquired.

"Nothing; the white marble walls were inscribed with extravagant magical symbols and human words I couldn't understand. The floors were full of intricate patterns and magical lines, just like at the top of the Temple of the Moon. Perhaps they could be used to absorb the power of the stars," Okegiga continued, his voice tinged with agony. "That's what I thought at that moment. I rode forward in the empty ruins for about twenty minutes before reaching the center, and then I saw..."

Evan focused, unsurprised by Okegiga's reaction.

Centaurs were not a race known for their prowess in magic. Unless clearly shown, he would not easily find the hidden magic in the ruins.

Upon returning to the real world, he should consider venturing into the ruins in the depths of the swamp and see what the ancient sorcerers left behind.

Perhaps, he could also uncover the identity of the evil god.

If he were lucky to find some spells specifically designed to deal with powerful malevolent spirits, he could solve all the difficulties at once and rid himself of those increasingly challenging creatures he had been encountering!
