Chapter 228 Do You Want To Be A Vampire?
The explosive news that some descendants of Salazar Slytherin had become vampires would have shocked the entire magical world.
Evan was unsure of what others would think.
But he knew Voldemort, who would surely never tolerate the existence of these vampires tarnishing Slytherin's reputation.
He was the sole descendant of Slytherin and was unique.
If there were other descendants of Slytherin, then he would not be anything special.
No wonder after Voldemort's second rise, no vampire joined his ranks. Surely he had something to do with it.
Now it seemed to Evan that destiny was truly marvelous. Who would have thought that the descendants of Slytherin would become vampires...?
Just at that moment, pondering destiny, Evan suddenly remembered what the girl had said.
She mentioned that the person who would aid her family in the prophecy would carry a relic of Salazar Slytherin to prove their identity.
Evan suddenly realized that Slytherin's locket was with him at that very moment. The person mentioned in the prophecy wouldn't be him, would it?
Looking at this feline-like girl before him, Evan felt he was about to be entangled in something peculiar.
Vampires are stronger than ordinary wizards, and even they could not solve their dilemma. Evan was very skeptical about what he could do with his own strength to help.
"Since you know about the wand, you should believe me now..." The girl suddenly stopped and seemed to realize something. There was a certain doubt in her red eyes. She gazed at Evan warily. "Wait a moment, even within our family, the wand left by Salazar personally is a secret. How do you know?"
The short wand in her hand immediately pointed at Evan, silently threatening him.
Indeed, when it came to magic, Evan was more concerned about her coming and biting him. With the two sharp fangs in her mouth, a bite would be very painful.
"This..." he murmured, "You know, Slytherin was one of the four founders of Hogwarts. There is a portrait of him at the school with a wand."
In fact, aside from the two statues of Slytherin in the Chamber of Secrets, Hogwarts had no statues or portraits associated with him. But Evan couldn't tell the girl that he had once returned to Hogwarts a thousand years ago and met Slytherin in person. It would be impossible for anyone to believe such an incredible thing.
The more he explained the strange situation, the more cautious he had to be, especially when facing a vampire girl who could approach and bite him.
Evan vaguely explained, and the girl nodded as she listened.
"I also wanted to go to Hogwarts to study. I heard that it is the largest wizarding school in Europe." The girl's hoarse voice sounded slightly lost, "I received the acceptance letter from Hogwarts from an owl last year. But my uncle disagreed with me going. He said wizards were all wicked. If they knew my identity, they would kill me..."
Evan realized that the girl was the same age as him.
However, the things she worried about were absolutely impossible. With Dumbledore's character, if he knew a vampire was going to Hogwarts to study, he would definitely give her privileges and special care, just as he did with Hagrid and Professor Lupin.
Especially considering her identity as a direct descendant of Slytherin, she would be even more valuable and play an unexpected role in the fight against Voldemort.
However, going to Hogwarts was not compulsory.
Under the influence of the magical items left by Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff, every young wizard of 11 years old will receive an acceptance letter from Hogwarts, but whether they come to the school or not entirely depends on their personal desires.
There are many ancient families of pure-blood wizards who, following their inherited educational philosophy, will choose to educate their children within the family instead of sending them to Hogwarts.
There are also some non-believing Muggles who do not believe in the existence of magic.
Therefore, after Voldemort came to power, he ordered that all young wizards of the appropriate age should attend Hogwarts. His goal was not only to train dark wizards more conveniently but also to fundamentally eliminate wizards born of Muggles.
Looking at the girl's face, Evan knew she wanted him to tell her about Hogwarts.
However, Evan thought carefully and felt it was best to get straight to the point and tell her about the Slytherin locket he was carrying as soon as possible. It was not a pleasant experience to be bound on the cold ground on a cold winter night.
"You just said that the person mentioned in your family prophecy will carry an object from Salazar Slytherin as proof," Evan said slowly, "indeed, I have one on me right now. I have the Slytherin locket."
After Evan finished, the girl did not respond.
Her burgundy eyes looked at him with confusion, as if she did not know what he was talking about.
"Did you hear me? I have the Slytherin locket," Evan repeated, saying helplessly, "If your family prophecy is true, I might be the person you are looking for, and what is meant to be..."
"Are you the person I'm looking for?!" It took a few seconds for the girl to realize what Evan had said, she exclaimed, "Where is that locket?"
Her voice was full of surprise. She got up from the ground trembling.
The next moment, she lost her balance due to the excessive tension, and fell onto him.
"Ouch!"
Due to the pain, Evan also took a deep breath of fresh air.
Her head ached, and she gazed at the girl, as clumsy as a kitten. Suddenly, Evan had a bad feeling.
Was it too impulsive of him to mention the Locket? At the very least, he should have first listened to the challenges she would face before making a decision. If it was too intricate and risky, there was still room for refusal, unlike now.
Under Evan's guidance, the girl took Slytherin's Locket from her neck.
She examined the locket carefully, especially the top, embedded with emeralds, bearing an S resembling a snake.
Then she looked back up, silently observing Evan, wondering what he was pondering.
"Do you believe me now?"
"This Locket is real. It is indeed the object left by Salazar Slytherin. I can sense the magic in it, just like the magic in the wand he left behind," the girl continued, gazing intently at Evan, "But I doubt you are the one mentioned in the prophecy."
"Why?" Evan was surprised.
"It's quite simple. You're too weak to be him. You can't even duel. How can you help the family resist those guys? My uncle is so strong and is no match for them."
Seeing the girl's earnest expression, Evan was left speechless.
He was belittled by this girl. He had been determined to share the story of the Locket. Who would have thought the girl would simply scorn him?
"I only lost to you because I was too careless!" said Evan. "Still, how many people do you think will be walking around with what Salazar Slytherin left behind?"
"Fine!" The girl nodded as if agreeing with Evan. She moved closer to him, almost to his face, and said sincerely, "I believe in fate's arrangement. If it is you, would you like to become a vampire? I can give you the First Embrace; you won't feel any pain."
