A/N: All I can say is... Life sucks. After moving across country I tried to start new. My adventure didn't last two years before I moved back home. Only starting to get my feet back under me, after getting knocked down more than I could ever imagine.
I am truly sorry for the long absence, but I hope with life going in a straight line.. for the moment.. I can get back to what I love, writing!
I truly hope ya'll like this chapter. Not the longest, but it leads into the next adventures! Enjoy! -Aussiepup-
Gibbs and Vance just stared at Jack in confusion, as Daniel went and sat down in one of the seats.
"The who?" Vance asked.
"The Trust." Daniel answered.
"And who are The Trust?" Gibbs asked looking at Jack.
"They are a group of rogue operatives, that work outside the legal... everything." Jack replied. "They take what they want, when they want, from whomever they want, to gain power in the attempt to help keep the U.S. secure and safe."
"You said they were a rouge unit? What do they do? How many are there?" Vance asked.
Daniel answered this time. "Very rouge, yes. They don't care who they hurt or eliminate in their quest to gain what they're after. We never know what their next target is or who it might be. They keep themselves so far hidden underground, no one can find them. As for how many there are, your guess is as good as mine. Since we've never been able to find their main operation, we don't know."
"You don't know?" Gibbs raised and eyebrow.
"No." Jack broke in. "We don't. We've tried to stop them, but with the way their organization is, they have people everywhere."
"So what exactly will these people do?" Vance wondered.
"They're not above stealing, kidnapping, or murder if it will get them the end result they're looking for."
"You know that for sure?"
"Yes. We've had enough dealings with them to know."
"Dealings how?" Gibbs asked.
"They've kidnapped Daniel before." Jack said with a sad smile as he looked at Daniel.
"More than once." Daniel replied with his own small smile.
"Really." Gibbs said not sure.
"Told you our job wasn't safe." Daniel told him.
"Okay, so if it is them, how do we find them?" Vance wanted to know.
Jack and Daniel both sighed as they looked at each other. Vance and Gibbs saw a whole conversation pass between them before Jack turned to answer. "We don't know. They're nearly untraceable, unless they decide to mess up somehow."
"You don't know." Gibbs glared. "Well how do we get them to mess up then?"
Jack glared back. "Since we don't know if it's even really them.. we can't."
The two men stared at each other while Daniel and Vance just rolled their eyes and shook their heads. Daniel finally broke the silence. "Alright children, break it up." The staring turned into glares that were directed onto Daniel, who looked between the two and didn't even blink. "We don't know if it's them, and even if we did, we wouldn't know where to find them. So lets just keep looking for clues we will be able to follow."
Everyone in the room knew they had nothing to go on, but consented to trying. Gibbs and Daniel made their way back downstairs while Jack left to go back to the Pentagon and Vance went to his office.
Around six everyone was in the bullpen when Gibbs' phone rang. Everyone froze until he hung up and said, "Gear up." Gibbs stopped and looked at Daniel. "We might have the next person on your list. The body has tags but there's a note that says to contact NCIS." Looking around at everyone Gibbs said, "Everyone will wear a vest and we're going into this carefully. Tony, Ziva, you two will follow in the truck. We'll park about a block away and plan our approach then."
"You think it's a set up Boss?" Tony asked.
"I don't know Tony. But something not right." Gibbs replied as he lead the way out of the bullpen.
The drive there was silent, each one lost in their own thoughts, as they pulled up to the scene. As the got out of the vehicles everyone looked around. No one said anything, but each felt as if they were being watched. Slowly they pulled on vests as Gibbs told everyone where he wanted them.
"Tim, Daniel, Major Towen, you three go around to the back side of this block and come in from the other end. The rest of us will head in from here. Let us know when you're ready."
"Will do Boss." Tim said as they headed around to the next block over.
"Something does not feel right Gibbs." Ziva stated as she looked around her.
"I know Zi. I know." Gibbs whispered as he too glanced around. Just then Tim announced they were in position and they all slowly made their way to the corner. Just as Gibbs was going to tell Tim to check around the side of the building he heard what sounded like someone falling behind him. In the next second he heard and felt what could only be described as electricity go through his body. Then darkness overtook him.
Tony groaned as he slowly came back to the land of conscience. He squinted and saw that he was leaning against a brick wall. Ziva was sitting next to him, leaning forward with her head in her hands. Head spinning too much to ask anything he looked around to try and remember what happened. He saw Gibbs standing a few feet away with a furious look on his face. General O'Neill was there too, with almost a matching look. 'Luckily the looks aren't being directed at each other for once', Tony thought. Tony didn't remember the General being with them. As he looked around again he saw Colonel Reynolds and Major Towen. The events started to creep back into his mind, and as he remembered the split second pain before he black out, it all came back. That's when he realized something was missing. Rather someone's.
"Boss!" Tony cried out as he tried to stand, needing the wall to help support him.
"Tony. Glad you could join us." Gibbs said dryly as he walked the few steps over to him.
Ziva lifted her head, and slowly stood as Tony asked, "Probie, Daniel?"
Gibbs just stood there for a moment and Tony could feel his heart stop as Gibbs replied in a solemn voice.
"They're missing."
A/N: Well there ya'll go. My mind hasn't quite decided whether to go see where Tim and Daniel are, or stick with Gibbs and Co. for the moment. Guess it'll be a surprise for us all.
