It's been around two weeks since I said my first word and learned to walk, well…walk but occasionally fall over stumbling. Since then I have learned to speak better and can understand most things said to me. I still however can't speak a full sentence yet.
My eyes open to the cave opening. Rays of sun streak into it filling the cave with light. It was then I remembered I'm almost old enough to leave the cave. Mama says I have to wait until I'm two months but I really wanna explore now. Waiting a whole month will take forever. I get up and slowly and silently slip out of mama's grasp. Once I'm free I look up at the cave entrance. That's when a thought hit me. 'What if I just walk to the entrance and look out. I'm sure I won't get into trouble if I do that,' I thought. Should I risk it. I look back at mama and daddy sleeping. Once I turn back around towards the cave entrance I slowly start to walk to it. Mostly everyone is gone. Except for the other cubs and their mothers who are all still asleep since it's the morning.
I reach the cave entrance without waking anyone. I peer out at the distant landscape before me. 'Cooool…' I thought to myself. My idea was to just look out from the cave entrance. But something kept pulling on me to keep walking. Something inside me was wanting to explore. The feeling soon overtook me as I ignored the feeling of being obedient. My little legs slowly started to make my way out of the cave and down the small walkway towards the ground. When my paw touched the green stuff on the ground, it mushed. The green stuff was wet and cold for some reason. I have never felt anything like it. By now I was fully out of the cave.
"Uzuri? What are you doing out of the cave?" Oh no, it's the queen. I just looked up at her. I lowered my rear and sat down infront of her and continued to look up at her. "You know you're not supposed to be out here. Don't you?" She said giving me a suspicious look. I nodded in response. "So why are you out here?" She responded. "EXPLORE!" I said jumping up and giggling. She just looked down at me and shook her head. When she looked up her face softened. That caused me to turn around. That's when I saw…Oh no, it's mama. I'm going to be in soooo much trouble. She continued walking towards us gazing down at me from time to time.
"Good morning Maisha." The queen called out at her. "Good morning to you aswell your majesty." She replied standing above me. "I see my daughter here decided to leave the cave." She said looking down at me with disapproving eyes. "I'll take her, thank you your majesty." She said before I felt something pick me up from the back of my neck. I noticed daddy at the entrance to the cave. I shrunk lowered my ears as I saw the look of anger and disappointment on his face. I was scared.
Mama placed me down on the cave floor and I sat down and looked up at her. Daddy came and stood next to her. My ears were as far back as they could go. "Uzuri, you know you're not old enough to leave the cave. What told you it was a good idea to leave?" Mama gave me a disappointing look as I just continued to look up at them. "Why did you leave the cave?" Daddy said with a louder and more form tone. "E-Explore," I responded as tears form at the corners of my eyes. I just looked down to the ground and tried to avoid the looks my parents gave me.
"Uzuri, you can't just leave the cave. Even if you were old enough to leave, you'd have to tell one of us first. But don't think you're off the hook yet young lady. You will be getting a punishment." Daddy said causing me to look up after I heard the word 'punishment'. Why was I being punished? I just left the cave and..I didn't even go far. I was just right outside the cave. "She needs a bath and the king needs help patrolling." Mama said as I looked up and saw daddy leaving the cave. Mama looked at me before picking me up by the back of my neck walking towards the spot we sleep at. When we reached the spot, she laid down and placed me in between her paws.
She began by licking my back as I just laid there. I don't really enjoy baths but I just let it happen so I wouldn't cause another problem. After a few minutes I started to feel a bit drowsy. I was tired considering I woke up early in the morning. Mama just continued giving me a bath has I close my eyes and let sleep take over.
