A/N As Sphygmus, a reviewer pointed out, the Mayor, as presented on the show, is a serious problem. Not because he wants to turn himself into a giant demon, but because he defies logic. Here's a guy who's run Sunnydale for a century, the Police Chief and Snyder at least, are aware of the fact that Sunnydale has a Hellmouth, they comment on that fact during the ghost episode. So, corrupt cops, who twice went after Buffy, once over Ted, an investigation that just disappeared at the end of the episode and over Kendra's death. She's charged with Kendra's death but we never find out how the charges got dropped. Sure, dead bodies were found at Ted's place, but we're never told how that affected the investigation into why Buffy apparently killed him. And yet the Mayor is gleeful at the idea of one of the Slayers being charged with murder over Allen Finch's death. But where's the proof? They can't prove the Slayer was the one who stuck a piece of wood in his chest, what little investigation we see turns up no evidence to connect them to it. And yet the Scoobies did commit crimes, they broke into crypts, searched lockers illegally, trespassed on private property, just to name a few. Given the Mayor knew they were in Sunnydale and had a group of people helping them and he did, given he walked right into the Library to taunt them, why didn't he do more to handicapped them? Did he want them keeping a lid on the Hellmouth or keeping the vampire population under control? Why are we never given any information on why he simply left them alone? Until after he's invincible and than he announces to Faith that he's going to kill them, except he doesn't do a whole lot to actually try to kill them. Lots of great bonding moments between Faith and the Mayor and Buffy, Angel and Giles' stupid conspiracy to reveal Faith working for the Mayor and endangering Xander's life unnecessarily, humiliating Faith in the process instead of reaching out to her and trying to help her. Buffy and company making bad and weird decisions and the Mayor not doing much at all.

Sure, it made great drama, but it doesn't actually make any sense.

"That's a lot of college acceptance letters." Buffy stared at the stack in front of Willow.

"I know and I'm feeling overwhelmed by it all. Rejection I could handle, from you know, years of experience. But these aren't just acceptance letters, Buffy. They're offers, scholarships and financial aid packets, it's actual interest in me. It's scary."

"It's the potential for an extremely bright future." Xander told her. "Me, I need to learn how to create new identities and avoid anyone noticing I'm not aging. Which also means I need a job that helps me hide."

"The techno vamps in the books built their own company, with a lot of different branches." Willow told him. "It took years, but it meant they could hide in plain sight. You have time to do that."

"And I have the brains and resources to make it happen." Cordelia reminded him. "My family's money, my trust fund and our business, all will be mine and they can help you hide. You can learn the business and some day you'll keep it running."

"Cordy, you don't need to take care of me. I can find a way to make a living myself without feeling like I'm using you."

"You're not using me, Xander, you're guaranteeing a future for my family's company and experience that will help if things ever go wrong and you have to start over again. Eventually you could run the business the way they do in the books, with employees trusted to know your secret. Sure, you could spend centuries hiding in the shadows like Angel did, but what good does that do you? Let me help you and eventually you'll be able to help others."

"I'll think about it, okay? I just don't like feeling like I'm using you."

"You can be such as a Doofus, if I'm making the offer and if I'm telling you it's not using me, than it's not using me! Do I have to pound some sense into your dense head?"

"No, but you can give me some time to get used to the idea. And to take the last two GED tests."

"Good. Now I got into a few good colleges myself, including Duke, although that one's Daddy's choice and not mine."

"That is a good college." Willow said excitedly. "Like Harvard, which also isn't my first choice, but is my parents choice for me. I'm actually leaning towards Wesleyan College myself, I've really been enjoying teaching tne computer class and Wesleyan has both Teacher Education and Computer courses. I could maybe continue teaching, you know, legally and be paid for it."

"Boo to Snyder." Oz said supportively. "I'll support wherever you want to go and Wesleyan has a Music degree, which would suit me."

"I got into Northwestern." Buffy offered. "Mom was on the phone to her sister, my Aunt Arlene, bragging about it. I really want to go."

"You should." Amy told her. "I'm not planning to leave Sunnydale because I want to be near my father, so I'm going to UC Sunnydale. Faith's the actual Slayer anyway, she's got Wesley and I can be her go to witch when she needs magical support. And if there's an apocalypse you all can come home and help fight it."

"Sounds like a plan." Faith nodded. "Let's just hope we didn't just invite Murphy to come and fuck all our future up."
