Well I won't lie to you guys.. These last couple of days have been tough. Personally, I blame Spotify and its 'smart shuffle'. As much as I love finding new music, some of those songs, which yes, I fell in love with, are hitting a little too close to the heart right now... it's probably why I love them – on a different note, if any of you are country music fans, Road Less Travelled by Lauren Alaina is a pretty banging song shrugs
I skipped an update on Tuesday because by the time I got home from work, it was 9pm. Most of my day had been spent in the rain and I can quite honestly say, I felt like a wet wipe by the end of the day. I wasn't wet but I wasn't dry either laughs and I when I got home, I just fell into bed, everything was hurting from my knees to my heart and I just needed to forget everything momentarily.
But here I am.. 930pm, on my day off (don't ask what I did with the rest of my day) and I'm finally writing you guys a chapter insert laughing emoji (imagine if emojis actually worked on here).
Anyway.. hopefully you guys are enjoying this story, and continue to...
Chapter 7
As the two lieutenants and two medics entered the common area, Octavia was soon on her feet.
She was rushing the small group and three of the four, took a step back, anticipating the young girls next move.
However, the entire station were shocked when instead of Bellamy, the small brunette had wrapped her arms around Lexa.
"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you." Octavia just repeated over and over in Lexas shoulder as she gave her a bear hug. Lexa was momentarily shocked but soon reciprocated the hug.
"Great to see you too, sis." Bellamy chuckled as he moved past them, fist bumping and hugging his way towards the coffee pot. All he wanted right now was a hit of caffeine. He glanced back to his sister who still had a death like grip on Lexa. He smiled and gave a small nod to Lexa when their eyes met, and she soon returned it. Octavia had been holding onto to Lexa for an almost uncomfortable amount of time that other people had gone back to their mundane tasks around the house. Indra and Kane soon entered the area and were met with the odd embrace from Octavia.
"O, c'mon." Clarke encouraged. She wasn't overly sure how to feel right now but she kinda felt jealous of the fact Octavia was hugging Lexa. "You can't hold onto Lexa forever. She's got other lives to save you know." she joked. Octavia almost immediately let go. Her head bowed in embarrassment at her realisation of how long she had held her lieutenant in a hug.
"Sorry.." she mumbled, trying to hind her face.
"It's okay Octavia. I understand and you're welcome. No one left behind." She commented, placing her hand on Octavias shoulder as a sign of encouragement, She smiled as she excused herself to go freshen up. She felt horrible, still covered in a layer of thick smoke from the call.
Lexa made her way towards the showers and made quick work of her uniform before jumping under the hot, steaming water. She let the water cascade down her body, loosening her muscles. She relaxed, enjoying the sensation but knew it couldn't last forever. She soon washed her body, watching the soapy black water finally turn clear disappear down the drain. She turned the shower off, grabbing her towel and rubbing herself dry. She was soon changed back into some clean black cargos and a tight fitting, three-quarter sleeve squad shirt. She made her way to her quarters, just needing few more minutes to herself before she dealt with anymore people thanking her. She didn't overly like being the centre of attention.
Back in the common area
"So, Woods seems to be settling in." Kane cautiously said, watching Clarke for her reaction. He'd seen how she had been with the previous lieutenants who had stepped into her fathers role over the last few months and it hadn't ended well for anyone. No matter how great of a firefighter they were. Clarke smiled, a genuine smile, nodding her head a little in agreement. There was just something about Lexa.
"Yeah, she is." Clarke spoke, softly, her smile still in place. "She really seems to be melding well with everyone. Probably helps pulling Bell from that fire." She lightly laughed. The others agreeing and joining her laughing.
"You think she's a keeper then Clarke?" Indra probed, gaging her reaction. Clarke baulked at her question momentarily, thinking of her jealously just minutes ago, before composing herself. Regaining herself, she answered Indra with a yes before excusing herself.
She made her way to towards the toilets. But something caught her eye. It was Lexa, her head was hung as she sat on her bunk. Clarke wanted to check on her but she really needed to pee. She continued on her original journey.
Clarke soon exited the bathroom and moved towards the bunk room, she was nervous but she wanted to check on Lexa. Making her way towards Lexas office, she paused, looking through the, barley open, privacy blinds covering the window. She saw Lexa laying back on her bunk, arm up, covering her face. If it was for the hand restlessly tapping her taught stomach, Clarke would have thought she was asleep.
She took a moment. Taking Lexa in. She couldn't help but stand there and appreciate Lexa.
She was tall, slim but oh so toned. Her arms were nothing but pure muscle. Clarke couldn't see here legs but she imagined they were just as ripped. Clarke could also make out her abs though her shirt. Clarke was letting her mind wander, thinking about Lexa on top of her, having her legs wrapped around Lexas incredible body. Seeing Lexa let out a sigh, Clarke shook herself, feeling a little flustered she tried to compose herself before she was caught staring.
Lexa gave a little grunt and her arm flexed. Clarke could see a flash of pain cross the half of Lexas face that wasn't covered by her arm and that's all it took to bring Clarke back to reality.
She gently opened the door, worry etched on her face. She moved to sit on the side of the bed, her hand reaching for Lexas arm.
…
Lexa hadn't heard the door be pushed open but she felt the bed dip. She was unsure of who had entered as she just couldn't be bothered to look. She almost hoped, if she was still enough, whoever it was, would think she was sleeping and leave.
This was not the case though.
She felt a hand tentatively touch her right arm that was across her body. She flinched slightly, having not expected such a soft touch. Her left arm slid back, towards her pillow, her eyes now fluttering open. Adjusting to the light in the room again, she saw Clarke. Her beautiful blonde hair was down, framing her face with a slight curl to it. She was looking at Lexa. No. She was staring. Staring into her eyes, reaching her sole. Her breath hitched slightly as Clarke slipped her hand into her own and squeezed slightly. Lexa was frozen. Unable to move, unable to say anything. All she could do was stare at this beauty.
"Are you okay?" Clarke all but whispered. Remembering where they were, Lexa panicked slightly, shifting up the bed to sit. Clarke pulled her hand back.
Both girls missed the touch instantly.
However, neither could miss it too much before Lexas new found position had left little to no gap between them. They were now nothing but mere inches from each other. Eyes locked and breath mingling. Lexa swallowed as she nodded. Her eyes flicking down to Clarkes lips.
Both girls were frozen. Staring into each others eyes. Occasionally letting them drift down to the other lips. They both seemed to lean forward slightly. Neither really in control of their actions. It was like they were being pulled together, like magnets.
Clarkes eyes fluttered closed and Lexa got closer. Both girls unable to pull themselves together.
Neither able to stop what was about to happen..
