Chapter 8

The war with Stephanie

Nikki's pov

I am really happy Mackenzie is in a relationship with someone. We were foes almost all my life and I still found something good about her. If she stops gossiping me and making fun of me I think we will be good friends. I still can't trust her though. I don't know if she is honest or just using me yet. I will find out at the right time. About Brandon… he didn't find out about what I did. Word didn't get out as quickly as I thought. I am glad. As I was thinking all of those things, Mackenzie called me.

''Hello! Is everything ok?" I said.

''Yes. I just called you for advice. How do I tell everyone at school I am in a relationship with Andre?! I am scared.''

''Just tell them if they ask you.''

''I guess you're right. I will do that.''

We stayed on call almost all morning. We met at school and talked there too. Zoey and Chloe were giving me strange looks. I can't stand those looks! I am going to inform them about Mackenzie. She actually changed! I know this can't be an act.

Mackenzie's pov

I saw Andre in the hallway and wanted to go to him so bad, but what will the others say? I am the most popular girl in school… I think they will be happy I have a boyfriend, right? I walked up to him and said hi. He said hi back and I could feel he was nervous about the same things I was. Jessica was giving me looks and whispering. Was she talking about me? I could feel my anxiety rising. This was how Nikki felt all the time? She still had a smile on her face every day… She waves at everyone, smiles, jokes, and much more. The bell rang and we had to get to class. Andre and I were in the same class. He wanted to hold my hand, but I could feel all the eyes on us, so I didn't let him. I saw his face get a little sad. I feel guilty, but I am not used to it. Stephanie entered the room, wearing revealing clothes. What is she trying to do? It's very inappropriate as well. She was wearing a top, with very short shorts. She was also not respecting the dress code. Stephanie looked at Andre and came closer. She was about to hug him when I stood up. We were together for almost a day and she came to school like this?! How did she even find out…? Nikki! That little traitor. I glared at Nikki. She looked confused. I can't stand her lies! The teacher entered the room right when Stephanie was about to say something to Andre and I was about to push her away. We all ran to our seats and the class began. I was furious and I wanted to punch Stephanie. When the class ended, I grabbed Nikki and we went to the bathroom. We were alone there, so I could tell her.

''Why did you tell Stephanie I am dating Andre!?''

''What?! I didn't tell anyone! Someone must have heard us in detention…''

''Lies, lies and lies! Why do you keep lying?!''

''You have to believe me! I am telling the truth!''

I pushed her and got out of there before I did something worse. I know what I can do when I am mad. I don't want to get expelled. Maybe she actually didn't tell her? I don't know what to believe. Stephanie and I had a fight about our evil plan a week ago and I see her capable of stealing Andre. I hope Andre is a loyal boy. I will see if that is true in a few days I guess. I got out of the bathroom fuming. I spotted Stephanie in the hallway. All the boys were looking at her butt. Ew… I can't stand the feeling of someone loving you only for your body. I want someone to love me for who I am, that is why I never wear revealing clothes. I rolled my eyes and went to the next class. I eyes widened when I saw Andre talking to Stephanie. What is he doing?! When I was running to him all the possible answers crossed my mind like an uncontrollable wind. Nikki got there before me. What is she trying to do?

''Why are you talking to her?" said Nikki, pointing at Stephanie.

''I was just-''

I remained in place and a tear was about to fall from my eyes. Was he actually going to cheat on me after a day?

''Why do you even care?! Do you like me?'' said Andre.

Brandon heard the conversation and looked straight at me. We had the same shocked and broken face. I could see myself in Brandon's face. Nikki tried to say something, but Brandon said:

''Is it true?''

''No! How could I like this player!?''

Player… what does she mean? Why didn't she warn me…? She just lied in my face…

''I am not a player! I was just telling her she is not respecting the dress code.''

''Then why did you react like that?!'' asked Nikki and I at the same time.

''I wanted to see what you will say and save Brandon from a broken heart if it was true.''

Brandon grabbed him by the collar and yelled:

''Do not ever do that again!''

I hugged Andre. Stephanie looked at me like she was about to kill me. I am scared of her now.

''I am sorry I said Andre was a player. I thought he was going to cheat on you with Stephanie!"

I didn't say anything. I just didn't know what to say.

''Is that really how you see me?" asked Andre.

When Nikki was about to answer, the teacher rushed us to our classes and she didn't get to. Brandon hugged Nikki tightly.

''I don't want to lose you…''

After school

No one's pov

''What do you think about a double date?'' asked Andre.

''I think it would be fun!" said Mackenzie.

Brandon looked at Nikki, hoping she wouldn't accept, because he couldn't bear Andre, but she did accept. They went to the restaurant where Nikki and Brandon kissed. Brandon blushed when he saw the place again. They got a table with a view to a lake. It was really beautiful. Nikki was smiling wide. Brandon took Nikki's hand shyly. Nikki ordered a menu with french fries, pizza and pork meat for four people. The couples ate everything and were full. When they wanted to get some drinks they saw Stephanie with a broom in her hands. She was cleaning the place because they were the last there. Nikki was shocked to see her there.

''Wasn't she really rich?" asked Andre.

''Yeah, I didn't know about this.'' said Mackenzie

They ordered the drinks and ignored her. The four classmates had a great night. Nikki got really happy when she saw the videos of her face were gone.

Nikki's pov

I couldn't ask more from this day. It was great. I found it weird that Stephanie was working at that restaurant as a maid. I will keep her secret. I am not that much of a villain to tell the whole school. No one found out my dad is working at a company who gets rid of the roaches. If that happened I would change schools as fast as a blink. Mackenzie is a great person for that. She is the only one who knows. When I was about to go to sleep, I got a message.

'If you tell anyone about my secret, I will tell them your father works at a roach company.'

What?! How did she find out?! Did Mackenzie tell her? I will find out the truth… I know she will tell everyone even if I keep my mouth shut.
