Chapter 1: Seven Years Ago...

Bowser, king of the Koopas, sat in a large chair facing a testing site, which has nothing but a red chair in the middle and a device above. Around him are several Shy Guys, hooded and masked creatures, running about in the compartment, checking data and running a few diagnostics. One of these scientists is Albert Scheinstein, a green Shy Guy wearing goggles and a lab coat, who can be viewing data on his own screen. The doors to the compartment slid open and a red Shy Guy named Jerry, who happens to be Bowser's second in command, entered the compartment and walks up to Bowser's chair.

"There you are," said Jerry. "What are you doing here?

"Didn't I tell you what I was doing?" Bowser asked, turning in his chair to face Jerry.

"Sir, you just said that you had something to do and left," Jerry replied.

"Well then, I may as well explain." Bowser said, turning back to face the testing site. He then pushes a button on the chair which opens up a screen and displays a project titled: "Project New World Order".

"This is what Scheinstein and I have been working on," Bowser explained. "This is a project meant to enhance a select number of our Koopa Troopa soldiers through science."

"So, they'd be super soldiers then?" Jerry asked him.

"Precisely," said Bowser. "We first scan their brains to see what needs to be enhanced or altered. As long as all imperfections are erased, that's all that matters." Bowser then turns to the back of the room.

"Scheinstein," Bowser yelled. "Send in Test Subject #13!"

Immediately, Scheinstein rises from his position and starts to run.

"Alright, everybody to their stations. We're sending in Test Subject #13 now!" Scheinstein said as he made his way to a big red button. He then pushes down on it, opening a door from the right side of the testing site. Bowser and Jerry face forward at the test site. From the doorway steps a scrawny, blue shelled Koopa Troopa named Vince, who looks around the test site, visibly confused. Bowser then lifts up a microphone from his throne in his compartment.

"Okay, Vince." Bowser began. "I know you may be confused with what's happening but all of us here can assure you that everything will be okay. All we just need is to get a good look at your brain using Scheinstein's Brain Scanner. We can assure you it is completely painless and that twelve of your comrades have already been scanned before you. So you have nothing to worry about. You got that?"

Vince nodded.

"Then, if you don't mind, I'd like you to sit down on that chair."

Vince walks over to the chair and then sits down. He places his arms on the arm rests, which lock him in place. The device above him, that being Scheinstein's Brain Scanner, starts to lower onto Vince's head. Once it is secured, Scheinstein makes his way to a green button.

"Beginning the scan in 3...2...1!" Scheinstein says as he pushes the green button.

The scanner stars to make a series of mechanical noises as blue lights can be seen being reflected off of his head.

"You're doing good, just take some deep breaths and calm yourself." Bowser says through his microphone.

As he says this, a loud boom of some kind can be heard, which startles everyone in the compartment. From the testing site, the scanner starts sparking and the lights around the area start flickering. Bowser rises from his chair and turns to Scheinstein.

"What the hell was that?!" Bowser asked him.

"I don't know! The scanner's becoming unstable!" Scheinstein replied.

"Well, fix it!" Bowser yelled back.

"I can't!!" Scheinstein said as he pounded on the keypad on his screen.

"Uh...Bowser? You might want to see this." Jerry said while tapping Bowser's hand.

From the testing site, bolts of yellow lighting began to spark from Vince's hands, which start to make contact with the testing site. Bowser starts to notice this.

"Oh my God, EVERYBODY GET DOWN!!!" He screamed. But before anyone could, a large blast of yellow lightning explodes and blows the entire testing site to smithereens. The front window of the compartment also shatters into pieces and shards of glass fly everywhere as Bowser, Jerry, Scheinstein, and the rest of the Shy Guy scientists are blasted to the back of the compartment and they all hit the wall. After a moment, there is calm. Vince stands in the middle of the testing site from where the chair once was, having been completely destroyed in the explosion. The lights in the compartment also begin to release a series of sparks. After a moment, Vince suddenly runs out of the test site through the door he came from, but n9t without a trail of lightning following him from behind. In the compartment, Bowser picks himself up off the ground. He then looks at what remains of the test site, visibly disoriented.

"What happened?" he asked himself.

Behind him, Scheinstein rises from the ground as well.

"I think the test subject produced an electrical discharge. I've never seen anything like it." Scheinstein replied.

"Where the hell did he go though?" Jerry asked, rising from the ground as well.

"I'm not sure, but I think I should try to find him." Bowser said. "And then, we can figure out what exactly went wrong here."
