Sarah sighed as she watched her friends in their matches. She didn't get one right now and she had a few hours before she would try to challenge Imthor in a Chaotic Match. She closed her eyes for a few seconds when she realised something, "I forgot to get a few scans for this match," she commented.
With everything going on, the match wasn't her priority. Her friends needed her help and it was more important than a Chaotic match. Kaz was still missing, but her friends had matches they had to attend too. Once they were done with their matches, Tom would back into searching for their missing friend. Peyton couldn't because of their situation with those metal creatures.
She stood up and decided to get a scan for her match. It might be good to take off her mind of that weight for a little bit and focused on her upcoming match. It was also a good occasion to visit her friend Wamma. She wondered if her friend was doing okay.
Chapter 11: Visiting the Danians
The teenage girl ported into Mount Pillar. She walked in there. She waved at the guards who let her in.
She finally got use to enter by the front gate, in a way, and not having to sneak around all the time. She began to search for her friend Wamma. Her big friend was surely sleeping somewhere.
Mount Pillar was large, but it shouldn't be that long to find him.
The big beetle creature had a tendency to greet her quickly when she came. Unless he had training. It would take him longer to escape Odu-Bathax and paid her a visit. Still, she needed to get a battlegear first. She knew the creature would find her there quickly. It kinda was their rendezvous point, "I'll go to the arsenal to scan a battlegear," she told one Danian who nodded at her.
It seemed to help them when she stated her intention. The tribe was often on the edge of a possible infiltration from the other tribes, even if they were currently relatively at peace. Some of the Danians visited the Earth. She greeted Lore once and he managed to be polite. Some of the Danians were a bit more difficult, either because they were interested in a few things or sweets. Mostly sweets. Sweets really had a grasp on them.
She traversed the labyrinthic corridor and reached the arsenal. After doing this so many times in the past, she could easily orient herself. The path always had a few subtle differences to indicate where to go. The arsenal often had traces of a battlegear on the ground. The heavy ones left a permanent mark. It was only a few times per solans the creatures thought to erase those marks, before new ones were made.
The girl never suggested them to assemble the battlegears in the arsenal. It was her main indicator to reach the place in the first place.
Once she was there, a few bugs put some staff at their respective places.
"And all fixed up."
"They really need to stop dropping them or leave them unattended."
The creatures left as they went on, "Yeah. Ekuud sat on one and broke it under his weight."
"Not so loud. He can hear us," one whispered.
"R-right," the creature replied a bit nervously.
Sarah waved at them. Once they were gone, she chuckled, "Kinda meant that he had a fat behind," she smirked a bit.
She began to look around for a minute. Before she heard a creature coming in the room. She thought it was Wamma, but…
"What is it about my abdomen?" a creature asked furiously.
Sarah turned around and quickly realised that Ekuud himself was there, as if he heard everything she said.
Ekuud was a Danian with a black exoskeleton, pink eyes, four arms and four legs and red mane that came out of his dark green head. He wore a dark green breastplate and kneed cap of the same color. A pair of gray antennas came out of his head and pointed at her. He looked pissed as he had his hands on his hips.
"H-how?" she asked a bit confused. He wasn't there when she came into the room.
"That's for you to figure out," he replied with a large grin. He chuckled as he approached her, "We've never met face to face alone since you became a friend with our tribe… Officially," he stood near her, "I still didn't make out my mind about you being our Guide to the Cothica. Don't bother saying it's not," he raised his upper right hand before she could reply, "For the safety of my tribe, I need to make sure you are fully trustworthy. I just know you aren't untrustworthy."
"Isn't it a bit the same?" she confusingly asked.
"No. I don't trust you, but I don't think you are a back stabber either. However, what would you do for a nice scan? If the Cothica is in danger, what would you do? Knowing myself, I would betray the other tribes to protect my own and my queen," Ekuud replied a bit dangerously.
Sarah could only take him seriously in the matter. She wondered if he tried to guilt trip her.
She knew her friends like to talk to him as a joke. She didn't reply. The girl knew much more about the creature than her friends.
She thought back and he was the first Danian noble to actually talk to her directly and without any incentive from the queen. The teenage girl decided to answer his question first, "I… I don't know."
A quick glance for the creature and he suddenly lived up to the description of his card. He suddenly became scary and intimidating. His size was just making it worse. The way he looked at her, the small movement of his mouth to reveal his sharp fang and his hands quickly clenched in a loud sound, "How can you not know? Do not think for a second that I will accept that you don't want to upset my tribe! This is just a pathetic excuse."
She knew there was a good answer in some old speech, but she had no idea what to reply to him, "I never had to choose. How can I just tell you what I think like that?"
The tension dropped, "Fine. Know that I'm keeping an eye on you Sarah," he smirked when she glared a bit at him, "It's not because of that. With your friend who got kidnapped and the missing one, we will need to keep an eye on you Sarah."
That made more sense and stopped glaring at him.
"Sarah!" a joyful voice said, which the teenage girl quickly recognised as the voice of Wamma.
The big red beetle rushed by her side. He wanted to give her a hug, but noticed Ekuud. Instead, he put his hand on her shoulder, "You're here! Good to see you again."
Wamma was a bug with a red exoskeleton, an orange face with blue eye, two mandibles on the side of his mouth. He walked on two legs and had four arms.
The girl was a big glad that Wamma didn't change too much since his more intense training. He was more muscular than before, but seemed to keep his round side somehow.
"Wamma!" Odu-Bathax yelled as he ran in the room too. He stopped and nodded to the Danian noble.
He was a buffed Danian with a pale blue exoskeleton on his muscular body, two legs, four arms, a pair of antennas, long white mandibles and red eyes. He crossed his arms and waited to hear the usual excuse of Wamma. He obviously tried to hide how out of breath he was.
"Sarah is here. I had to greet her," the red bug simply replied, not even trying to excuse himself anymore.
Sarah chuckled a bit at her friend funny attitude, but held back a bit, not to cause him too many troubles.
"Came to get a new scan, Sarah?" Wamma asked with his large smile.
Odu-Bathax grunted behind the creature, "You are still in the middle of training. I know this is just your excuse to avoid more work! You are so difficult to find when I lose you!" he vented out his frustration.
The teenage girl let out a small smile. It was a bit of a classic Wamma to hide from training or his duty.
"There is way toooooo much to do," the red Danian whined back as he crossed his arms. He then replied in a way that felt like his breathing suddenly was heavy, "Besides. I'll keep getting stronger. I won't let Sarah down another time," he glanced at her, "Never again."
Sarah knew her friend didn't get over the fact he couldn't protect her, "But I'm okay. You saved my world."
"But not you. I couldn't protect you."
Ekuud took his chance and slipped away from the conversation. He was forgotten, in a way. He also didn't feel like hearing this mushy and emotional conversation. He didn't want to crack up and to show a little too much emotion.
Odu-Bathax noticed the bit of compassion from Ekuud, but could never said anything in the matter. That would remain in his chest until the day he died, "And what is going on with your friend Peyton? We heard what happened to him. It was important enough that we are searching for those creatures that are after him."
The teenager guessed it was just in case she was their next target. She glanced at her friend who worryingly looked at her, "I met one of those creatures."
"Did he try anything to you? Are you okay? Are you hurt?" Wamma asked.
The blue bug put his hand on his mouth to shut him up, "Let her answer. And two of your questions are pretty much the same!"
"I'm okay," she sounded a bit embarrassed. She had to tell that story a few times. The more she thought about it, the stupider it was that she met him that way, "I was searching for Kaz when I felt. I landed on his head and I was unconscious. He helped me for a bit. When I found out he was one of the creatures who kidnapped Peyton, I asked him questions and made him teleport away with a Telebracer."
"Those creatures got one of those?" Odu-Bathax asked. He was taken aback by that discovery. He scratched his chin, "They had to steal it from one of the tribes. I hope we didn't lack in our defense," he grumbled. He had no intention of underestimating this new tribe, "We need to find what they are planning," he had two arms on his back as he thought back, "We need to warn the queen in the matter."
The blue Danian continued to talk to himself for a few seconds, before he went on with Wamma. The red Danian seriously listened to him with full attention.
Sarah sighed as she went to get her scan, "I still need to get my scan. I have a match against a Codemaster soon," she reminded them.
"Sarah. Do you think any of those weird creatures might go after you?" Wamma asked as he approached her.
"I don't think so. Not for now. It's clear they want something with Peyton," she closed her eyes, "And Kaz disappeared for a few days already."
"Him too!" the two Danians yelled.
Sarah realised they didn't know about that part. It seemed like that news didn't go around Mount Pillar yet, "Yeah. He disappeared when he went on a scan hunt with H'earring. Since then, nothing. We don't know who kidnapped him," she rent on while she searched for a good battlegear.
Odu-Bathax grumbled, "This is a serious matter. At least, you are safe in Mount Pillar," he then added, "It's a matter of time before it might be Tom's turn."
The other Danian nodded to himself.
Sarah got her scan, but froze at that comment. It was a large possibility. Her boyfriend might get in trouble for the same reason as Kaz and Peyton. Peyton came back at least, but not Kaz. She shivered lightly before she told them, "I got to go," and quickly ported out.
Wamma crossed his arms, "What do we do?"
"Our queen will know what to do," the blue Danian replied. He then suddenly yelled, "And back to training for you!"
"R-right!" he replied before he ran away with the other creature after him.
AC: This is the end of this chapter.
Next: The Meeting.
Tom and Sarah went to visit Maxxor to speak about the situation, but he was busy with a meeting with Theb-Saar.
