The guest suite had quieted after the earlier commotion. The remaining guests and staff had left to give Orion some much-needed space. The room was dimly lit, offering a semblance of calm amidst the lingering tension. Sirius and Narcissa stayed by Orion's side, their concern evident as they awaited the healer's arrival.
A soft knock on the door announced the healer's entrance. She was a middle-aged witch with a kind yet professional demeanor. Approaching Orion's bedside, she surveyed his condition with practiced efficiency.
"Mr. Black," she began gently, "I'm here to examine you and ensure you receive the care you need."
Orion, still visibly shaken, nodded weakly. Sirius and Narcissa stepped back to give the healer space, their anxiety apparent as they watched.
The healer conducted a thorough examination, her expression growing more serious as she continued. After a few minutes, she took a deep breath, meeting Orion's gaze with a mix of compassion and gravity.
"Orion," she said softly, "there's something I need to discuss with you. During the examination, I discovered evidence that needs to be addressed."
Orion looked at her with a mix of confusion and fear. "What is it?"
The healer hesitated before speaking. "I found evidence suggesting that you were recently pregnant and experienced a miscarriage."
Orion's face went pale. He looked to Sirius and Narcissa for support, his breath coming in shallow gasps. "I… I didn't know. I wasn't aware I was pregnant."
The healer nodded sympathetically. "It appears the pregnancy was early, and the miscarriage might have gone unnoticed or unrecognized. It's possible that the stress and trauma you've experienced contributed to this situation."
Sirius's face showed shock and sorrow. "Orion, is this true? Did you not realize—"
Orion shook his head, tears welling in his eyes. "No, I didn't. I didn't know. I just thought… I thought it was part of everything else that was wrong."
Narcissa, visibly stricken, reached out and took Orion's hand. "Oh, Orion. I'm so sorry. This must be an additional burden on top of everything you've already endured."
The healer placed a comforting hand on Orion's shoulder. "I'm truly sorry for this additional distress. We'll ensure you receive the appropriate care and support to help you through this difficult time."
Orion, overwhelmed by the new wave of pain and confusion, closed his eyes, tears streaming down his face. The realization of the miscarriage added another layer to his suffering, intertwining his physical pain with deep emotional grief.
Sirius squeezed Orion's hand, his voice filled with resolve and sympathy. "We'll get through this together, Orion. You're not alone."
Narcissa nodded, her expression resolute. "We'll make sure you have all the support you need. This is a lot to process, but we'll face it together."
As the healer continued to offer reassurance and plan for Orion's care, the weight of the news hung heavily in the room. The journey ahead would be challenging, but for now, the focus was on providing Orion with the comfort and healing he desperately needed.
