Fred and Daphne met Velma outside of Shaggy and Scooby's door. "What happened?" Fred asked, opening the door to let everyone inside. Shaggy and Scooby were hiding under the bed, that was until Velma dragged them out. "We just saw a ghost in the mirror!" Shaggy yelled, pointing towards the old-fashioned mirror in the corner of the room. "I don't see anything." Fred commented. Velma walked over to closely inspect the mirror. "It was some Civil War guy!"
"Wait a minute, there is something under this dust." Velma blew the dust away and gasped. "Jinkies. Colonel Jackson T. Pettigrew, 8th Lousiana."
"That sounds like a Civil War regiment." Daphne added. Simone entered the room as if on cue to offer an explanation. "There were Confederate barracks on this island."
"Ghost pirates, ghost soldiers, like what's next?" Shaggy asked rhetorically whilst chattering his teeth. "Dinner!" Lena called from downstairs.
The gang were sitting at the large table in Simone's dining room. Lena had decorated with candles and spread all the food out, including gumbo, biscuits and Crayfish. "Your dining room is beautiful Simone!" Daphne complimented, taking in the surroundings. The room was very elegant and posh, fitting in with the exterior of the house. "Thank you, Daphne. But I'm afraid your dog will have to eat in the kitchen." Simone replied, once again turning her nose up at the Great Dane.
"Rog? Rhere?" Shaggy lightly tugged on Scooby's collar until he got the hint.
"Lena, this gumbo is delicious. And these biscuits… light as a feather!" Fred beamed, tucking into what must have been his 4th biscuit already. She smiled thankfully at him, unlike Daphne who 'accidentally' trod on his foot. "Where's Beau?" Simone asked, aiming the question towards Lena. "He usually has dinner in his room above the carriage house. I brought him some food but he wasn't there." Velma 'hmmmed' at this, growing in suspicion of the gardener once again.
"Exactly how long as he been working for you Ms. Lenoir?" Fred asked, wanting to do a background check on the mystery man. "Several months, and it's Simone Fred."
"I think this guy is pretty suspicious." Velma added, earning a glare from Daphne much like earlier.
"He had excellent references…" Simone said, trailing off as Shaggy and Scooby re-entered the dining room. "I don't think the kitchen was such a good idea. You know… cats." Shaggy explained, after practically being overrun by dozens of the felines when they were trying to eat. "Here." Fred said, handing Shaggy the keys to the van. "You can take the mystery machine."
"And I'll make you fellas' food to go." Lena smiled, getting some utensils and bowls to get the pair extra big helpings of everything.
"I'd really like to find out why these ghosts want us off the island." Velma stated, taking another spoonful of the gumbo in front of her. "Velma, there's still a high chance that they're just guys in masks after the pirate treasure." Fred reminded, completely ignorant towards the likelihood of the ghosts being real yet again. "Fred! How many times do I have to say it. Can't you just accept that some mysteries have no rational explanation?" Daphne scolded, hurt that Fred had just dismissed the mystery yet again after talking to her upstairs about it. Fred was taken aback by Daphne's anger yet again. "Well we haven't seen anything except some writing on the walls and Velma levitating which isn't that much evidence."
"We have strong footage and we'll get more. I have a good feeling about this place."
Shaggy and Scooby were sat in the back of the mystery machine, munching their way through a huge bowl of crawfish. "Here buddy, have some biscuits too." Shaggy said, handing over a plate. Scooby emptied the contents straight into his mouth, annoying Shaggy as he had only ate one. Nevertheless, he turned his attention to the steaming bowl of gumbo and began tucking in. Scooby began growling against the back window of the mystery machine, making Shaggy pause his eating and see what the fuss was about. "Cats again! It's hard to enjoy a meal with those eyes staring at you. Come on Scoob, hop into the front and I'll find us somewhere peaceful to eat. "Rupid rats!" Shaggy turned the ignition on, and Scooby sat beside him in one of the passenger seats. They drove into the middle of the forest, in a different direction than where they had seen Morgan Moonscar's zombie.
"That should do the trick Scoob." Shaggy said, parking up and going back to eating the crawfish. Scooby picked up two handfuls, or pawfuls of them, emptying them into his mouth and chewing on them. He fired the shells out of his mouth like bullets from a gun, peppering them against the back of the van. "Rmmm hmmm. Rasty!" He said, licking his lips.
"Another pepper, old buddy?" Shaggy asked, yet again pulling out some peppers from his baggy trouser pockets. "Res please!" The two of them ate the red hot peppers in one bite, followed by two more. "Like, that wasn't so bad- AHHHHH!" Shaggy yelled, feeling his face burning from the heat.
"ROT, ROT REPPERS!" Shaggy threw open the door and ran into a small section of the bayou, ducking his head underwater to cool off, followed by Scooby. Unbeknownst to the scardey cats, the green mist yet again took over the horizon, plunging into the same bayou they were drinking from. Suddenly, distorted faces began emerging from the bottom of the bayou, right underneath Shaggy and Scooby's noses. "ROMBIES!" Scooby squealed, as at least six of them began floating up. They jumped out from the water, about to run back to the van when another bolt of green hit down onto some mud, causing ten more zombies to crawl out. "ZOINKS! Get to the van Scoob!"
Shaggy and Scooby ran the short distance to the van, weaving in and out of incoming zombies as they did so. "Come on, come on!" Shaggy yelled, slamming his fist against the wheel as the ignition wouldn't start up. A zombie slid from the roof of the mystery machine onto the front screen, startling the two of them. "GAHHH! Run Scoob!" Shaggy screamed, the two of them leaping out of the van yet again to take of running. "Raster Raggy!" Scooby called as he overtook his master, not wanting him to be left too far behind. Suddenly the two of them bumped into another creepy figure, who seemed to have fully white eyeballs. "ANOTHER ZOMBIE! RUN!" Before taking a moment to realise that it was Beau that they had bumped into, for what seemed to be the 100th time that day, Shaggy and Scooby were nowhere to be seen. "Stupid mutt." Beau muttered, under his breath.
"Hey Daph, we should do a segment on Lena's pecan pie! It's suuuupernatural!" Fred joked, nudging Daphne as he spoke. She looked at him in utter disbelief. "You are so corny! I can't believe you just said that." Lena sent Fred a cheeky smile, flattered by his constant complimenting of her cooking. "AHHHHH!" a voice screeched in the near distance.
"Now what?" Velma asked, instantly recognising it to be Shaggy.
"I told you, the hauntings were just beginning." Simone said, as the others got up from their seats.
"Camera is rolling, come on lets go check it out." Fred began, pointing the camera towards the door. "Lena, get them some laterns!"
"Right away Ms. Lenoir." Lena said, beginning to head into one of the side rooms, but stopping as she approached Fred. "Please Fred, you must be careful." She warned, placing a hand upon Fred's shoulder. He smiled politely and nodded. "I'm sure Fred can handle himself." Daphne said, a little more loudly than intended, causing everyone to glance in her direction.
Outside, Fred, Daphne and Velma were holding their lanterns and searching for the others. "Shaggy? Scooby!" Velma called, for the third time already. "Still no luck." They were in the midst of the forest at this point. "Guys! Where are you?" Fred shouted, louder than Velma. Still nothing. They were just about to turn the opposite way when some bushes began violently rushing in front of them. Daphne grabbed ahold of Fred's bicep, and prepared for what she thought would be another ghostly encounter. "So, its you!" Fred said when they were being approached by none other than Beau.
"Where are Shaggy and Scooby?" Daphne asked, not as hasty as Fred was being.
"Your crazy friends are near the bayou screaming about zombies- AGAIN! I didn't see any." he responded, sounding annoyed with the persistent bumping into by the pair. "You never do! And you're never around when these ghosts and zombies appear." Fred spat, holding his lantern up higher. "Yeah, now isn't that a coincidence?" Velma added, eying Beau up a little more. Daphne stood in front of them. "Save you suspicions for later guys. Right now we have to find Shaggy and Scooby. I think we should split up." She suggested, taking charge of the situation.
"Good idea." Fred said.
"I'll go with Beau." Daphne said, glancing in the gardener's direction, and about to head off.
"Bad idea."
"I'll go with Beau," Velma chimed in, noticing Fred's scepticism of Daphne going with him. "I won't let him out of my sight." She whispered to Fred.
"Why do you keep treating me like I'm a suspect?" Beau asked, sounding slightly aggressive.
"Because you are! You're always lurking around." Velma sounded equally as threatening, given her kind nature. Beau stepped closer to Velma, she tried to remain calm and not show that she was phased, but it wasn't very convincing. With a swift move, Beau grabbed hold of Velma's wrists, pulling her close to him. "Let me go!" He did just that, and she slipped on the ground. Beau kneeled down and picked up a nearby rock, big at that. He raised it tall above his head, making Velma wince. She felt helpless, too frozen with fear to move. She covered her head with her hands protectively, though it wouldn't make much difference. Beau threw the rock straight past Velma. "Huh…." She said, watching the rock land in quicksand and sink instantly. He then offered his hand to help her up. "Thanks- but you're still a suspect!" Beau shrugged his shoulders at her remark, it seemed like he was used to this type of behaviour. "Look, I'm helping you find your friends aren't I? Treat me as a suspect all you want, but you're safe right now with me." Velma furrowed her eyebrows as he spoke, he sounded much softer than any other alteration the gang had had with him since they got here. "You're right. Anyway thanks, I really meant it." Velma offered him a small smile which he seemed to accept. He offered her his hand as they stepped over another pool of quicksand and she obliged.
"Freddie, over here." Daphne called, a short distance away from Fred who was investigating some tall bushes for any sign of Shaggy and Scooby. Fred stepped out and saw Daphne standing by the abandoned mystery machine. Daphne opened the back door of the van, Fred by her side. "AH!" She screamed, as something came pouring out of the van and landing on her shoes. "What is it?" Fred bent down and picked something up. "Crawdad shells!" Fred exclaimed, holding one up to show her.
"I guess the guys liked your girlfriend's cooking too!" Daphne said, folding her arms as she looked at him. He sent her a confused glare. "She's not my girlfriend Daph, I just said I enjoy her cooking. And what about Beau?"
"What about him?"
"You're always defending him when Velma and I think he's a suspect. And you wanted to pair off with him." Fred's voice changed on the last part, he seemed to be less accusing but more hurt.
"Gah, Fred you're so dumb sometimes." Daphne snapped, not meaning to do so but she was unable to contain herself.
"Huh? How am I dumb?"
"I just mean that I only wanted to pair off with Beau because-" Just as Daphne was about to finish her sentence, she felt a hand rest on her shoulder. She responded quickly, grabbing hold of their wrist and throwing them over her shoulder. "Holy shit Daph!" Fred said in disbelief.
"Is-is that a zombie?" She asked, not really believing it herself either. The pair of them were studying the zombie, that was slumped again the back of the van. "Do you hear that?" Fred whispered, nodding his head towards the bushes next to Daphne, where a rustling noise began.
