Happy 4th of July to those in the US.

Sorry this is rushed. I literally wrote it in an hour just so I can say Happy 4th.

I do not own.

Rex v Parade Float

Rex and Noah walked down a row of parade floats being prepared for tomorrow's opening game parade.

"These are impressive." Noah said.

"Boring!" Rex yawned.

Noah glared at him.

"I mean look at that. It doesn't even look like a whatever that's supposed to be… cow?" Rex said. He pointed out all the flaws in each float. "I can make a float better than that in like an hour."

"Then put your money where your mouth is." A boy jumped down from a float. "I'm Lucas, the student body president. We've been working on this for weeks. But if you think you can do better go ahead. We do need an extra float to bring up the rear."

Rex grinned. "No problem. What do I need to do?"

"You're going to have to provide your own vehicle and you have to f. We have all the materials in the back there. You have to follow the theme which is unity." Lucas listed it all out.

"Done and done." Rex said confidently.

"Good. Parade starts at 10 AM. You have 24 hours to make a float." Lucas said.

"Piece of cake." Rex smiled.

"If you say so." Lucas walked away.

"Rex, are you nuts? You don't know anything about making a float." Noah said with annoyance. "Where are you going to get a car?"

Rex looked at him. "Well…"

"No! That wasn't even my car that ended up in the bottom of the lake. And no one in my family will lend me one so don't even ask." Noah yelled.

"Fine, I'll ask Caesar." Rex said pulling out his phone and dialing. "Hey, bro, listen, I need a favor."

"What did Rex do now?" Circe groaned as he followed Noah down to the school field.

"Well, he agreed to make a float." Noah explained.

"You know if we keep helping him, he'll never learn." Circe said.

"I know, I know. I'm such an enabler." Noah agreed.

"I think it'll be fun to make a float." Claire said. "I've always wanted to ride on a float."

"Where's Rex? He said he'd be right here." Noah said.

"Um, Noah…" Circe pointed.

All three gaped at the sight.

"Hey guys, you like the car?" Rex waved at them.

"Rex, that's not a car." Noah said. "That's a tank!"

"Yeah, isn't it cool." Rex beamed.

"I guess that's one way to make a float." Claire observed.

"How does this fit the theme of unity?" Noah questioned.

"Don't worry about that." Rex said waving away his concern. "Help me paint this." He passed out some paintbrushes and buckets of paint.

"Rex, these are all different colors." Claire said peering at everyone's paint.

"That's fine. Just start anywhere and work your way to the middle. It's going to be covered by flowers anyway." Rex said unconcerned.

"Um ok?"

They started at random parts of the tank and began slathering the paint on. By the end there was more paint on them then on the tank.

"Rex, this doesn't look right" Claire said taking a step back.

"It looks like a unicorn threw up on it." Circe noted.

"Looks more like unicorn sh…" Noah was interrupted by a cascade of flowers falling on him.

"Perfect!" Rex formed his Smack Hands and wrapped mesh around the tank. "Ok, now start sticking flowers in the holes."

"What?" Claire asked confused.

"You know, stick the flowers through the mesh." Rex said shoving some flowers into the lining.

"How are they going to stay?" Claire asked.

"What do you mean? The mesh will hold it." Rex said.

"No, it won't. It's going to fly off the second you start driving." Circe pointed out.

"It's fine. We're driving like a snail." Rex said. "Don't worry about it."

They looked at each other before shrugging and started shoving flowers into the mesh screen. They stopped when they ran out of flowers. Most of the flowers were predominately on one side of the tank.

"I'm pretty sure this is wrong." Claire said.

"Yeah, definitely." Circe agreed.

"What's Rex doing? Why isn't he helping?" Noah complained.

"Because I'm working on this!" Rex was holding a giant misshapen head.

"What is that?" Circe asked eyeing the object with warily.

"It's the school's mascot, the Ranger!" Rex said proudly. "It's made from paper machete. I'm working on the body now." He set the head on the ground.

"Rex, paper machete needs to dry overnight. You're not going to finish." Claire protested.

"It'll dry fast. Watch." Rex formed his Boogie Pack.

"No! Rex wait…" Circe tried to stop him but he turned on his turbine. The sudden gust blew all the flowers off the tank.

Rex stopped and looked at the naked tank. His friends were covered in flowers.

"Oops. But hey the head is dried." He smiled nervously.

"It's a beautiful day for a parade!" The announcer said as people cheered from behind the sidewalk barriers.

The floats moved slowly down the parade route as the people laughed, took pictures, and waved. Finally, the last float rolled into sight. Everyone stared at a half-painted Providence tank with a few flowers barely clinging to the mesh. A boy stood on top with a paper machete on his head waving at the crowd.

"Wow, I guess Rex did finish it by himself." Claire said.

"I'm not sure you'd call that finish." Noah muttered.

"Well, I wasn't going to waste another 5 hours helping him stick flowers after he destroyed it the first time." Circe said.

"Wait, if Rex is outside, who's driving the tank?" Claire asked.

"He's probably using his nanites to tell the tank to go." Circe said.

"Well, as long as he doesn't accidently discharge any weapons." Claire said nervously.

"I'm sure Caesar wouldn't have left any weapons online." Noah assured her.

"But this is Caesar." Circe reminded him.

They looked nervously at the tank as it rolled past them.

"I'm sure it's fine." Noah gulped.

Rex's float came to a rest at the stadium parking lot. The people began clearing the streets and heading into the arena.

Rex hopped down and pulled off the head. "See I told you it would be fine." He said to his friends.

"Well, Rex, I have to hand it to you. You… made a float." Noah said.

"Yup, and nothing went wrong." Rex said proudly. Just then the track on one side fell off and the tank listed to one side tipping over. "Well, nothing too bad…"
