Chapter 1: Prologue
Castlevania-1476 Dracula's Study
The air was filled with grim silence as a single individual stood silently in the ruins of the Castle. This is none other than Draken Tepes, Son of Dracula and Lisa Tepes and Younger brother to Adrian Tepes, also known as Alucard. Unlike his older brother who is almost a replica of their mother, Draken on the other hand is a replica of his Father although younger. 5"7 Similar clothing to Dracula, Red eyes and a pale skin.
But despite his similarities with his father, there are still noticable differences. For one, he has chin length Dark hair as opposed to his father's shoulder length hair, he nails are short compared to that of his father and he is basically younger, being 17 years old. Unlike his 20 year old brother, Draken has not yet experienced his growth sprout and thus looks 17.
As to why Draken is standing alone in his father's study, this is due to him barely coming out alive from an intense battle against his father. Having fought along side Alucard, Trevor and Sypha to defeat his father, Draken is silently mourning as he was the only one who survived the battle against Dracula. Trevor and Sypha had fallen rather fast to Dracula leaving only Draken and Alucard alone to face their father.
Despite his lack of feeding, Dracula proved to be far more stronger than the brothers. In a last ditch effort, Alucard had manage to pin Dracula, pestering his brother to finish them both before he could escape his grip. Hesitantly, Draken used the last bit of magic he could muster to incinerate his father and brother.
A year ago, Draken would never had thought he would go so far to save humanity, the very people responsible for killing his mother. Initially, he had sided with his father after the death of his mother, but after Alucard's defeat, he began to question his father's motives. Finding his brother a year later under Wallace, Draken encountered Trevor and Sypha who he initially fought, before being stopped by his brother.
After a long talk with his brother, Draken turned a new leaf in hopes of honoring his mother. Unlike Alucard who favoured swords, Draken on the other hand is a practitioner of Magic. Having found a liking to the art at a young age, he was allowed to study it under the guidance of Death the family Butler. He was even gifted a Metal Scythe, similar to the one Death always wielded.
But now, it would seem his knowledge of magic was useless as he was unable to even save his family. Currently, Draken is going through various books in his father's study, shortly after burying the remains of his brother and friends.
Having gone through hundred of books in the span of an hour, due to is Vampiric heritage, one particular book had caught his attention. A book about time travel. His father had spoken to him about theories of time travel before, but not once had he mentioned this book.
Sure he was already used to the Castle being a traveling machine and was glad the engine was still intact since he was the one who magically took control of it while in the Belmont hold. Had Sypha being the one to control it, he doubted the engine would still be fine.
Shaking his thoughts away, Draken continued to go through the book silently hoping he could somehow go back in time to prevent his mother's death.
"Altering time, always lead to more problems, Young Lord." Draken turned towards the familiar voice of Death appearing besides him
"What choice do I have?" Draken said not taking his eyes away from the Grim Reaper
"If you were to save your mother and alter time, more problem will arise." Death said
"Like what?"
"You are not naive Draken." Death said already knowing the boy was aware of the possible problems that could arise from traveling back in time.
"Then, what would you have me do? My family is dead." Draken spat
"Then live." Death simply said
"I'm not sure I still have the will to continue living." Draken admits
"Maybe not in this era, but what of an era where humanity is probably better than they are now?" Death asked
"You're suggesting I travel to the future." Draken said. "Thought you already established time travel has consequences?"
"They do, but traveling to the future is less hazardous than traveling to the past." Death said
"Why the future though?" Draken asked
"As you already know, time has know meaning to me, so I can observe the future at will. One particular one intrigues me." Death said
"Can you be less cryptic." Draken said
"Let's just say I am merely fulfilling your father's dying request." Death said
"His request?"
"You can say during his death, he regained himself and requested I sent you to a time where humanity was less superstitious." Death said taking the book from Draken's hand, causing the boy to sign.
Despite killing his father, Draken still loved him, probably far more than his mother. Taking a deep breath, he made a final decision to honour his father's dying wish. As though hearing his thoughts, Death began uttering a spell. It took a few minutes for the Grim Reaper to complete the spell before the entire Castle and Belmont hold instantly vanished, appearing about 500 years into the future.
Romania Barren Waste Land-2010
Not a moment later after the spell was completed, Castlevania and The Belmont hold instantly appeared in this waste land.
Inside the Castle Draken merely observed Death with questioning eyes
"What year did you send me to?" He asked while getting up
"That is for you to discover. In the meantime, farewell." Death said before disappearing, causing the half vampire to groan
Deciding staying indoors wouldn't give him answers, Draken began walking out of his father's study. Passing various rooms that were ruined by the battle against his father, Draken now stands Infront of the Castles Entrance door.
Draken train of thought was put on hold as he heard what he believed to be fighting outside the Castle
"Did he just send me to a war?" Draken thought as he pushed the door open. The site he was greeted with, will forever be engraved in the young man's memory.
Various costume coloured individuals were seen fighting what appeared to be undead creatures. What shocked him the most is that a good number of them had their undergarment on the outside
Lifting his eyes towards the sun, he noticed an eclipse had graced the area, regardless Draken could tell that this was no ordinary eclipse as he could already pick a familiar scent
"Magic." Draken thought as he observed the eclipse
"Guys, Wo-Tan just summoned a Castle and an underground bunker to the middle of nowhere." The Flash said in his comm as he sped round the battle field
"Batman, someone just came out of the Castle." Captain Marvel AKA Shazam said punching a Zombie before getting a better look at the individual. "He looks like a kid."
"Get him out of here." Batman ordered from his jet
"Aye, aye." Shazam said before speeding up to the boy
"Hey kid, it's not safe out here. Let's get you somewhere safe." Shazam said but only received a blank stare from the boy
"Hey kid, you alright?" He asked becoming concerned
"Who is responsible for the eclipse?" Draken finally spoke
"What?" Shazam asked shocked by the question
"Who is responsible for the eclipse?" Draken repeated
"Ehh, that guy." Shazam awkwardly pointed to Wo-Tan who was standing on an undead Dragon with the Amulet of Abin
"I take it he's the one also responsible for these undead hordes?" He asked
"Yeah, he's the bad guy and we're the good guys." Shazam proclaimed
"That sounded far too childish for someone his age." Draken thought before looking at Wo-Tan.
"Eh kid, you sure you're okay?" Shazam asked just before a Scythe flew from the Castle into the boys hand, causing Shazam to jump back in shock
"No!" Draken said before glowing red and in an instant began speeding towards Wo-Tan, leaving behind a stunned Shazam
"Guys, we've got a meta situation." Shazam said into his comm before speeding up to catch up with the boy
"What do you mean?" Wonder Woman asked while slicing a Zombie
"The kid that came out of the Castle is a meta." Shazam said before he was tackled by a Zombie
As Draken closed in on Wo-Tan, he began slicing any unlucky Zombie that tried to stop him. While unfamiliar with this current time, the half vampire still had some pent up aggression to release from the lose of his brother and this Sorcerer bloting the sun just happened to be his emotional support wrecking ball
As Draken approached the Sorcerer, he noticed Superman, Zatara, Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter failing to break Wo-Tan's force field. Raising his Scythe over his head, Draken mutters a magic disruption spell before striking at Wo-Tan's shield, instantly destroying it which knocks the Sorcerer down.
Seeing this, Superman rushes in and knocks out Wo-Tan in a single blow. With the Sorcerer defeated his undead hordes began to fade
"I don't know who you are, but thank you for your help." Superman said
"Why aren't you killing him?" Draken asked
"We don't kill." Manhunter spoke up as he approached them, causing Draken to raise a brow at his answer and skin colour
"Who are you?" Green Lantern then asked
"I am-" Draken didn't finish as he instantly collapsed due to exhaustion. Haven't not yet recovered from battling his father, adding also the fact that he had not fed
"Batman, we need medical attention." Superman said into his comm
"That won't work." Zatara said stepping close to the boy after sensing power similar to a Lord of Chaos
"Why?" Superman asked
"He's a Vampire." Zatara said
"What!?" Superman said in shock
Watchtower Meeting Room
Having used magic to try and heal the boy, the Justice League then placed him in the Infirmary as they discussed their next cause of action.
"So you're telling me that kid is a vampire?" Green Lantern Hal Jordan asked
"Yes. Though he's half a vampire from what I can tell." Zatara said
"Is that a good thing or bad thing?" Flash asked next
"I don't know. For one he reaks of Chaos Magic, then again he helped us." Zatara said
"What about that castle? Do you think it's his?" Superman asked
"That seems to be the case. I saw paintings of people, probably his parents." Batman said. "That's not counting the fact that the Castle has food enough to feed a small town for a year."
"Seriously?" Flash asked shocked
"What should we do about him?" Wonder Woman asked
"We can't do anything until he wakes up." Batman said before receiving a call from the Infirmary. "He's awake."
"Then let's invite him here." Superman said
Later
Standing in the midst of these heroes, Draken is merely observing them with a blank expression
"How are you doing?" Superman asked first, breaking the silence
"Tired." The boy simple said
"Who are you?" Batman asked going straight to the point
"I am Draken Tepes, Son of Vlad Dracula Tepes." He said causing some eyes to widen
"The Dracula? Like the one in the movies?" Flash asked
"What's a movie?" Draken asked shocking some league members
"That's beyond the point. How did you appear in Romania?" Batman asked as Draken began explaining his arrival, including his past
After he finished speaking, most of the league stare at the boy in shock and pity for what he had been through
"That's…I don't know what to say." Superman finished
"Men." Wonder Woman growled causing Draken to raise a brow at her but said nothing
"I have one last question. Do you take human blood?" Batman asked
"My human side makes it that I'm not dependent on blood. Though I still need it for sustenance. Regardless I have only ever taken animal blood so you don't have to worry about me feeding on humans." Draken said
"I see. You can leave, we'll get back to you later." Batman said causing Draken to return to the Infirmary
"Was he lying?" Batman asked Superman
"No. His heart beat was constant." Superman said
"So what do we do with him?" Aquaman asked right before a hologram of Cadmus appeared.
"We'll decide later." Batman said getting up
Cadmus
We…we did it." Aqualad said in amazement.
"Was there ever any doubt?" panted Robin. He tried to high-five Kid Flash, but they both winced from their multiple bruises and cuts. Superboy stepped out of the rubble and stared up at the full moon shining overhead.
"See?" offered Kid Flash, "The moon."
"It's better than implanted images, isn't it?" Robin said
Superboy nodded. "So much better." His eyes widened as a shadow appeared in the moonbeams. It grew larger and more visible as it came closer.
"And Superman." said Kid Flash, "Do we make good on our promises or what?"
The entire Justice League floated into view; those who couldn't fly were carried by the Green Lanterns. It was and impressive sight to say the least. For a moment, there was silence as they all landed. Superboy slowly stepped forwards to Superman who stared at him suspiciously. Superboy lifted the torn cloth of his chest to reveal the 'S' shield to his biological father. Superman's eyes widened in shock, but he said nothing.
"Is that what I think it is?" asked Batman as he stepped forwards.
"He, doesn't like being called an it," Robin said.
"I'm Superman's clone!" snapped Superboy, disappointed at the reception his revelation had received. There was a moment of silence as the League absorbed this.
"Start talking." Batman said, "Now." It took a while for the young heroes to tell their story, but they got it across to the adults in due time. Superboy remained silent for the most part, letting the sidekicks try to impress their mentors. Finally, they finished and a section of the League was dispatched to take the unconscious beast, who they dubbed Blockbuster, to prison. Superman went off with Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter to talk while the other adults mingled amongst themselves.
After a while, Superman approached his young clone. "We'll, ah, we'll figure something out for you," he said, "The League will, I mean. For now I…I'd better go make sure they get that Blockbuster thing squared away." Superboy watched Superman fly off into the night as Batman, Flash, and Aquaman approached the team.
"Cadmus will be investigated," the dark knight told them, "All 52 levels. But let's make one thing perfectly clear-"
"You should have called!" interrupted the Flash angrily.
"End results aside," Batman continued as if he hadn't been interrupted, "We are not happy. You hacked Justice League systems, disobeyed direct orders, and endangered lives. You will not be doing this again, understood?"
The group shared a quick glance, but it was enough for an unspoken agreement to pass between them. "I'm sorry," Aqualad spoke for the team, "But we will."
"Aqualad," barked Aquaman, "Stand down."
"Apologies, my king," insisted Aqualad, "But I will not." Aquaman arched an eyebrow as his protégé continued. "We did good work here tonight. The work you trained us to do. Together, on our own, we forged something powerful, important."
"If this is about your treatment at the Hall," interjected the Flash, "The three of you-"
"The four of us," countered Kid Flash, "And it's not about the Hall."
"Batman," sighed Robin, "We're ready to use what you've taught us, or why teach us at all?"
"Why let them decide?" demanded Superboy, "It's simple, got on board, or get out of the way!"
Together, the new team stood against the Justice League.
Watchtower Few Days Later
"We've decided to put you in a team to better look after you." Batman said as Draken stood Infront of the league
"Do you have any compliant?" Superman asked
"None, I only ask that the league stay away from my Castle." Draken said
"Very well." Batman reluctantly said
"Is there anything I should know about this team?" Draken asked
"You'll soon meet them." Superman said
"In the meantime, I've decided to take you as my Protege." Wonder Woman said causing Draken to nod
Mount Justice
The team was reassembled inside the Mt. Justice cave in Happy Harbor, Rhode Island. They were all in their civilian clothes, although Robin had dark sunglasses over his eyes
"This cave was the original secret sanctuary of the Justice League," Batman explained, "We're calling it into service again. Since you four are determined to stay together and fight the good fight, you'll do it on League terms." He looked to the team for confirmation and they all nodded in understanding. "Red Tornado has offered to live here as your supervisor, and Black Canary has agreed to train you. I will deploy you on missions."
"Real missions?" Robin asked.
"Yes, but covert," Batman confirmed.
"The League will still handle the big stuff." Flash said
"But Cadmus proves that the bad guys are getting smarter," continued Aquaman, "Batman needs a team that can operate on the sly."
"The six of you will be that team," finished Batman.
"Sweet!" said Robin, "Wait, the six of us?"
Batman nodded to the Zeta Tube, where Martian Manhunter approached from the shadows, accompanied by Miss Martian.
"This is the Martian Manhunter's niece," Batman introduced, "Ms. Martian."
"Hi!" she said nervously.
"Liking this gig more every second," whispered Kid Flash as he shot to the girl's side, "Welcome aboard! I'm Kid Flash. That's Robin, Aqualad, Superboy, its cool if you forget their names."
"I'm honored to be included," she said shyly as she shook Kid Flash's waiting hand. Robin and Aqualad moved forwards to introduce themselves properly.
"And finally, Draken." Batman said as the Half vampire stepped out of a Zeta Tube causing the teens to stare at the Scythe behind his back
"This is Draken. The league encountered him while facing Wo-Tan." Batman said
"He's the vampire?" Robin asked causing Miss Martian and Kid Flash's eye to widen
"Like in Earth's movies?" Miss Martian asked
"Half Vampire." Draken corrected
"No way man. Someone pinch me." Kid Flash said
"Welcome to the team!" Aqualad said causing Draken to nod
Miss Martian then transformed her shirt to a replicate of Draken's attire . "I like your shirt." she said quietly but the vampire said nothing.
Aqualad smiled. "Today is the day," he said, almost to himself.
