Son Goku.
A Saiyan.
A tale.
A legend.
Throughout history, many histories, the one named Son Goku obtained greater strength.
One with meaning, others literally.
In the many timelines that exist under the watch of the Time Patrollers and the Supreme Kai of Time, there exists divergent realities. Ones that strayed so far from the original history it might as well be its own reality. The cause of this remains unknown to the Supreme Kai of Time.
The truth behind these realities...is none other than Son Goku himself.
Over the infinite timelines, there exists one Goku who is considered to be the strongest Son Goku to have ever existed, even beyond that of the Goku who joined forces with other powerful beings and the Goku who fused with the greater gods.
Through this Goku, and his continuous search for strength, the Primordial Titans deems his obsession to be far dangerous to continue and sealed Goku away in a place in between countless realities. Chained and restricted, Goku didn't try to escape and merely uses meditation as a way to get stronger.
Unknowingly, his power seeps through many realities and Existence itself began to crack and crumble under his growth and potential. Because of this, the divergent realities came into existence and gave birth to different Gokus.
This world is one of many.
But it is the first that came into existence.
A world of which Goku was sent into a world ruined by a god and devastated the world.
This is the story of Dragon Ball Calamity.
Chapter 1: A Reason
The land was painted the color of white. Cloud looms over the forest with snow-peaked mountains over the horizon. Various creatures scattered about, occasional cracks of twig can be heard. Snow hails down from the sky in a slow yet gentle manner.
In the midst of cold lands, two young knights brave through.
"Ugh, it's really freezing!" A young girl said as she tries to get warmth from a pair of makeshift mittens.
"What do you expect? We're so far in the north." Another young girl replied, her tone laced with sarcasm. "We're trained knights, this should be nothing for you. Besides, we're in the lands known for the Eternal Frost curse. The temperature won't be going up anytime soon, you know."
"Ugh, just great." The young girl who complained–possessing a radiant pink hair and dark purple eyes whilst wearing winter combat armor–groaned out loud. "Why are we even here anyways? I kinda forgot."
The other who has dark blue hair with matching eye color lets out a sigh, "Selena, this is the third time you asked."
"Ehhhhh, really?" The one known as Selena Cinnamon replied, trying to remember the last time she had asked. "Like, come on Mona! Our journey had been really quiet since we started. We didn't once encounter any people, much less towns and even monsters don't appear around here! It's soooooo boring I forgot what we're here for."
Mona Sapphire once again lets out a sigh. "Selena..." And there goes another sigh. "Well, I can't certainly deny that our journey had been lacking of some things-"
"Everything! It lacks everything!" Selena intercepted, puffing her cheeks in annoyance at Mona's attempt in downplaying just how bland their journey was.
"Alright, alright. It wass pretty uneventful." Mona rolls her eyes and lets out an exasperated sigh, she's definitely going to be an old woman soon enough. "But we're here on an important quest."
"And what would that quest be? Dying from this biting coldness!?" Selena retorted, looking more annoyed than ever. "I don't want to die single!"
Mona narrows her eyes, a serious expression dawned on her face. "We're here to find any surviving civilization. The reason we haven't found any people around is because of the Calamity, remember?"
"I'm still annoyed there aren't any people around to talk to...especially boys!" Selena replied, blushing at the mention of boys.
"All men in Arthoran Empire have all died after all, even children." That downs Selena as she had always wanted to see for herself what boys look like. "Most of them died fighting in the war whilst some died due to unfortunate and unforeseen circumstances." Mona looks down, clearly frustrated. "And because of that, the population in Arthoran Empire is slowly dwindling down..."
"Now we have to find any survivors and see if we're lucky enough to find a guy, right?" Selena asked and Mona nodded. "We're one of the 20 knights sent to search around the continent, but most came up empty like us right now." Selena lets out comical tears, "It doesn't help when many of them found civilizations that died horribly due to curses or unknown phenomenon."
"Yes." Mona stops in her tracks and looks up in the sky, causing Selena to halt as well. "We're the only hopes left for Arthoran Empire. Arthora-sama is also doing her best to train those capable of wielding mana so we could summon Heroes from another world." Selena looks down and narrows her eyes, she too was frustrated as well. "This is all because of that...that god."
"An unknown god." Selena commented. "The god who slays other gods and brought the world into ruins."
"If it's not for him, we would've seen people around right now." She faces forward and continue walking. "Let's go, we shouldn't waste any more time discussing about the past."
"Fineeee~" Selena sighed and then followed Mona.
Their journey continues on for hours on end until night arrives. They had to stop and set up a camp. After hunting for food and enjoying a filling meal, they both rest, dreaming the day when all was back to what it was before they were born.
A few days passed by since and yet, not a single discovery. They scouted pass frozen lakes, mountains, crevices, ravines and even caves but they could not find any single thing. Still, they pressed on, searching for any signs of life in the Northlands. As Arthoran Knights, the girls were trained for these kinds of quests and they find not much discomfort in braving unknown lands. Their training was paid off and yet at the same time, it did not.
Their journey continues until they came upon a strange place near the borders of the Northlands.
"Whoa..." Selena breathes out as she witnesses an amazing view.
"This is very beautiful..."
The place was a forest but the trees were clearly different. The leaves were all white but below each leaf were green, showcasing that each provides warmth under. The trees also have this strange fruit dangling on branches that lets out a mystical glow. Over by the distance there was a large tree that had some kind of orb in the middle that glows much brighter than the rest.
It was an amazing view, no doubt.
"What is this place?" Selena asked as she walks down towards the forest.
"From the books I've read, this forest looks similar to the one drawn in Ultus Encyclopedia." Mona replied, awed as her eyes was still widened as she looks around the forest. "I think this is a Spirit Forest, this is where a Great Spirit resides once they left their vessel."
"Hee..." Selena hums in interest.
"I'd never thought we'd come into such forest one day and judging by the current biome we're in, it seems we've also found the rarest variant. The Shiva Spirit Woods." Mona continues to explain. "Well, usually Snow Elves made their villages around here to protect it from any intruders but it seems there aren't any."
Selena sighs once she heard that, her shoulders droop with a clank of her armor. "So, what you're trying to say is we come up empty...again."
"Most likely." Mona nodded in agreement. "At least we get to see such an amazing forest. We ought to get a few Blizzard Fruits here since it's said they can improve one's Ice Magic." She pointed towards the glowing fruit that was dangling and lets out a mystic glow. "There's one."
"Hm, Yuki-chan might want these fruits if so." Selena said as she went up a tree, attempting to climb it in order to get the Blizzard Fruits. "I'll get one."
"Be careful." Mona said.
BOOOOOOMMM!
"Huh!?/What!?" The both chorused as they turn towards the direction where the sound came from.
They were both surprised to see a white-furred boar rushing out of the trees. They were even more surprised to find out that the boar was much larger than the ones they hunt. The sheer size completely dwarfs them both and judging by the powerful mana they felt inside of it, it is much stronger as well.
"It's an Albino Devil Boar!" Mona yelled towards Selena, "Facing it without a strategy is dangerous!"
"Crap, what do we do then!?" Selena asked, pulling out a sword from her side.
"We need to get away and make as much distance as we can." Mona replied but a bead of sweat made its way down her chin. "But the problem is that it's much faster since Albino Devil Boar specializes in casting Haste magic. We can't really make any distance and it's much faster than us so splitting up is useless." She pulled out her own sword as her sword lets out a glow with runes coming to life across it. "Damn it, looks like we have to deal with it somehow!"
"That's just great isn't it!?" Selena yelled when suddenly, her eyes went wide and her body screamed at her which made her jump up high in the air, avoiding a ram attack from the beast. "Crap! Nearly got myself killed there! That thing's way too fast!" She lands on a branch, crouching down before gritting her teeth. "I'll have to cast Flames of Leviathan into my blade quick!"
Selena focus on her hand, using mana to form the Flames of Leviathan. A fiery red flame lit up in her palms and she clenches her fist, compressing it. With two fingers enveloped in said flames, she ran it across the sword. Once it was done, the sword was covered in the same fiery red flames and already, the snow around her began to melt at the temperature it was emanating.
"I can only use this once so it's do or nothing!" Selena said as she dashes towards the boar and sent flurry of slashes. "Tch! Even with the Flames of Leviathan, it wouldn't pierce through!"
"Hold on!" Mona came upon from above and using the momentum to thrust her blade onto the Albino Devil Boar's back. "Take this!"
Once her sword reaches, Mona was shocked when she found out that much like Selena, her sword didn't cut through. She tries to pierce the skin by swinging her blade continuously at high speeds but the result was the same.
"Tch, what the hell!?" Mona clicks her tongue, "Its skin is much tougher than the ones in Arthora-sama's bestiary!"
She continues to slash when the boar had enough of it. Mona widened her eyes when electricity sparks around its back, causing the already white fur on its back to glow white. Quickly, she jumps away from the Albino Devil Boar with realization written on her face.
Mona faces towards Selena who was using her speed to slash at every exposed part of the boar. "Selena! Get away from it now!"
"Huh? Oh crap!"
Selena wastes no time and dashes away from the boar just as it had completely done charging. Without warning, bolts of electricity exploded from its being. Selena was fortunately distant enough from the radius of its electric explosion.
"Another close one!" Selena frowned, "What the heck is this thing!? This is nothing like the Devil Boars we've hunted in the empire!"
"The Albino variation is a much stronger beast altogether but it shouldn't be impossible for us to defeat it." Mona bit her lips, "But this is not any Albino, it's an Alpha!"
"What!?" Selena's eyes widened. "Hey, hey, you're kidding right!? The Alpha Devil Boars in the kingdom took us 20 people to beat and you're saying there's an Alpha amongst an already stronger kind!?"
"Damn it! That electricity on its back is the indication! We need to avoid it at all cost!" Mona said, jumping from branches to branches to avoid getting rammed by the Alpha Albino Devil Boar. "From the bestiary Arthora-sama wrote, even she had a hard time killing this thing!"
"What the hell should we do then!?" Selena asked, avoiding all the electricity shots though barely due to its immense speed but were electrocuted by the smaller bolts. "Gahh! That hurts!"
"Running away is impossible at this point!" Mona grips the hilt of her sword tightly, "Either we kill it or it kills us!"
She drops down to the ground behind the boar, readying herself to unleash her sword upon it. However, she was caught off guard when its tail whips her at her abdomen, sending her crashing through trees before rolling down on the ground and hitting a tree with her back against it. Pain shot through her being and her throat immediately was invaded by the taste of rusty metal.
When Mona couldn't hold it in, she spits out blood.
"MONA!" Selena shouted before her irises dilated and she glares at the boar with fury on her face. "DAMN YOUUU!"
With such emotion overpowering her mind, Selena lunges towards the boar without any care.
"Don't...idiot..." Mona muttered.
Selena was then shot by a bolt of electricity. "GAAAAHHHHH!" It electrocuted her whole being before she drops down onto the ground, her body lets out smokes but fortunately not burnt.
"Se...lena..." Mona tries to get up but the hit she received from the boar completely immobilizes her. "Damn it...is this...the end?"
The boar skids its right leg, preparing to ram Mona. Once it kicks off the ground, Mona finds herself staring at her death. Various memories flashes before her eyes and there were many regrets she had. One of them in particular is not fulfilling her promise to her younger sister.
"TAKE THIS! HYAAAHHH!" Suddenly, out of nowhere, something came into their rescue with speed not even the boar could react to much less Mona herself.
The figure kicked the Alpha Albino Devil Boar right on its face which causes its head to splatter and was sent crashing through trees in a similar fashion to Mona though the scale was much larger. The shockwave can be felt across the forest and a resounding boom can be heard from the distance, presumably from where the boar ended up in.
The figure drops down and immediately ran towards them. "Are you humans!? Oh no, you guys are injured!" Before she can take a good look at their savior, her vision began to blur as her consciousness slips away. "Hold up, I'll save you guys!"
However, Mona quickly notices that the voice was much different than the ones she usually heard. It didn't sound...feminine, it sounded more differently than the usual voices she heard. Could it be...?
"I'll get that boar later for dinner, you guys are much more important!" The figure said as they carried Mona on their back. "I'll take you to my home!"
That was the last thing she heard until the black landscape overtook her vision...
'What a small...back...'
"The world is bleak."
"Arthora-sama?" Mona blinked, surprised.
That came out of nowhere.
"We need hope, Mona." A gentle smile adorns to her face, her golden armor shine brilliantly as both her hands rested on the bottom hilt of the legendary Holy Blade Solais that was currently impaled to the ground. "Hope for the people."
"What do you mean, Arthora-sama?" Mona asked.
"What strives man to survive?" Out of respect, Mona kept quiet though even she herself don't really know the answer. "It's hope, Mona. People survive through hope."
"Hope?"
"Yes, hope." Arthora stares into the horizon, overseeing the sun sinking. "Through hope, people will find the will to live again. Without hope, we won't be alive today."
"Is that why you sent us knights in search for survivors?" Mona asked.
Arthora smiled and nodded, "Indeed." She closed her eyes, "People need hope and I gave them that. I trained our priests to control their magic for the summoning and I sent our knights to search for any trace of people." Arthora shook her head as if she was criticizing herself, "As it stands, I doubt we could find anyone around but...we need hope. Hope for the people."
"I...see..." Mona looks down, she doesn't know what to reply.
"Mona, I will send you and Selena to the Northlands. Just like the rest, you are to find people amongst the unyielding cold of the north." Arthora said, pulling Solais out and sheathing it back. "Will you do that? If you refuse, then I won't bla-"
"I'll do it." Mona cut her off, a determined look plastered to her face. "If it would help you...or anyone at all, I will do it."
Arthora chuckled, "I see." She puts her hand on Mona's shoulder, staring at her in the eyes. "But please, no reckless behavior. I want you and Selena to come back in one piece. I don't want to lose any more friends."
"I..." Her words halted before she bowed her head, "I will do as you wish, Arthora-sama."
A sad expression dawned on Arthora's face as Mona uses the formal language with her. "Mona, I told you it's okay to talk normally with me if there's no one around. I'd prefer it if you call me Arthora-nee like back then."
Mona shook her head, "No, I can't do that."
Arthora sighed before she smiles, "Just...come back safely, alright?" Mona nodded. "Good, that is all I ask. I do not expect you to find anything other than isolation. All that matters is that you both participate in this and provide Arthora Empire with hope."
"I will do everything in my power to make your wish come true." Mona said but Arthora shook her head.
"Please don't. The last thing I want to see is a dear friend dying because of me." Arthora uses both her index finger to trace her curved lips, "Just smile, that's all."
"Smile..."
"Yes, smile."
"Smile, even though everything seems hopeless. Your smile will bring forth hope, Mona..."
Slowly, Mona opens her eyes, seeing a wooden ceiling. She blinks slowly before she turns her head around, finding Selena awaken and was currently grinning like an idiot with a blush on her face.
Selena quickly notices her gaze and smiled widely, "Mona! You're finally awake!"
At that, Mona sat up and strangely, she felt no pain. Just exhaustion.
"W-What happened?" Mona asked.
Selena's face lit up, Mona was surprised to see it. Sure, she was positive on most things but Mona had never seen her being this happy ever.
"You see, you see! Something incredible happened!" Selena replies excitedly, jumping from her bed onto Mona's. "Someone saved us!"
"Some...one?"
"Yeah! There is actually someone out here!" Selena beams a wide smile. "And here's the best part, the one who saved us...is a boy!"
"A...boy?" Mona blinked; this was...quite a bit to take in.
Selena nodded, "Hm, hm!"
"As in, boy boy?"
"Yep!" Her smile widens.
"Like, real boy?"
"Yes!"
"I mean, boy as in the male ki-"
"Yes! It's a boy!" Selena yelled, puffing her cheeks as she finds Mona's repeated insistence to be irritating. "There's no denying it and I'm not wrong! He's a boy! Goku-kun is a boy!"
"Goku?" Mona blinked. "His name is Goku?"
Seeing as Mona asked a different question, Selena's mood returned back. "Yep! His name is Son Goku, Son is his family name and Goku is his given name!" Her smile becomes one that was quite...different so to say, like it was along the lines of perverse or something. "And he's very adorable! So cute, strong and cuddly!"
"Small?" Mona recollects the last moments before she fell unconscious. "I see...so we're saved."
Selena's expression softens, "Yes. We were saved by Goku-kun."
"And our injuries...?" Mona said, patting down her belly and still, she felt no pain.
She could've sworn some of her insides had been crushed by that whip and that Selena was electrocuted. At the very least, she expected bloodstained bandages and that she couldn't move after receiving such powerful blow to her body.
"Oh, about that." Selena's expression tells that she too was wondering about it as well. "I don't really know how but Goku-kun made us drink this special kind of potion his father made and bam, we're completely healed. Goku-kun said it was made from a special plant."
"A potion that could instantly heal any wounds..." Mona muttered before she quickly noticed that her mana too was at its max. "Seems like we also regained our mana as well."
"Oh yeah, now that you mentioned it." Selena giggled. "It usually takes me two days before I can fully regain my mana back if I used the full power of the Flames of Leviathan."
"If what you said is true, that potion is a quite...ridiculous." Mona stated, looking over herself to find any lingering wounds or grazes at all but couldn't find none. "This potion would break the very foundation of alchemy if it was to be discovered in Arthoran Empire. No doubt, war would break out." Mona looks at Selena, "Where is this Goku?"
"Oh, he's just getting us some dinner!" Selena replied, "Not only is he a boy, can fight and adorable, but he also can cook! Hehe, I might be luckier than I thought!"
"Hey now, you're being creepy." Mona commented.
"That was uncalled for!" Selena puffs her cheeks. "Mona, you meanie."
"Here it is, food!" Suddenly, surprising the both of them, said Goku entered the room whilst bringing in large portions of food which would be impossible for both of them to eat. "Nee-chan, you hungry? I'm very hungry right now!"
Due to the large portions, Mona couldn't see the person in question. Once the food was set down on the floor, the boy went to the side to greet Selena and was surprised to see Mona had awaken up. On the other hand, Mona blinked, shocked. Selena was right, Goku really is a boy. There was no doubt about it, his build tells it all.
He had weird black spiky hair that points in many directions which strangely reminded her of palm trees. His eyes were also black but strangely had an innocent and bright glow in them that just gave out this hidden determination. He was quite short–no, small would be appropriate. Goku was quite small, unnaturally so.
He wore a red scarf around his neck, the two ends of the scarf dangles behind his back. Adorning what seemed to be a combat gear consists of orange shirt and pants, blue undershirt and black-blue combat boots, Goku takes out as someone who knows how to fight in Mona's eyes.
Of course, that was already proven when he casually killed an Alpha Albino Devil Boar with a single kick. It's astonishing how much strength he packed in that small body of his. But overall, he comes off as an innocent child who knew how to fight.
"Oh, the other girl is awake!" Goku beamed a grin. "My name's Son Goku!"
At that exact moment, maybe, Mona thought. Just maybe, Goku might be the one to help her in realizing her reason in granting Princess Arthora's wish...
Thanks for reading, this idea had been stuck in my mind for the longest time and I finally decided to make it a reality. There were stories I made previously that was similar to this but this one has more thought put into compared to the previous ones.
I won't take your time, just some reviews and thoughts are appreciated. While you're doing that, any follows and favs are immensely appreciated.
Thank you and see you guys in the next chapter.
