The Ghost Of Maiden's Peak
On a warm night, waves crashes against the rocky wall where a house was located near the cliff. Across from the house was a statue of a girl with a red flower on the left side of her head. But then a voice spoke out.
"I'm waiting for you." the voice spoke. "Come back to me. Return to your beloved. I'm waiting for you! Ha ha ha!"
Since last time, our friends has been sailing from Porta Vista to continue their Pokémon journey. Suddenly, Misty spots a land mark.
"Check it out." Misty smiled.
"Maiden's Peak." Jovan said. "We'll be arriving there soon. It will be great to get back on land."
Jovan was leaning against the wall with Seth and Slade as Anna and July stood behind Misty.
"That wouldn't matter to me now..." Brock sighed. "This summer was a waste."
"But we had a lot of adventures this summer." Ash pointed out.
"For kids, they splash around and hanging out at the beach." Brock said, turning away from his friends. "But for me..."
Everyone stares at him.
"Summer means to me is bathing suits and girls to wear them!" Brock complains. He was on all fours. "That means bikini season is over and now I have to wait another year!"
Meanwhile, Jessie, James and Meowth were still sitting in their barrel.
"We're really at the end of the rope here." Meowth complained.
"No room, no room service!" James complains.
"Will you quit your whining, James?" Libby asked. "We don't even have a single cent to pay all of that."
"Hm." Sam and Justin nodded.
"Maiden's Peak welcomes passengers from Porta Vista. We invite you all to our Annual Summer End Festival, which is now in progress."
There were a lot of stands being put up as they all got off the ship.
"A festival." Ash smiled.
"It looks fun." Anna said. "How about we check it out since we're here?"
"I'll just ride the Ferris Wheel alone then." Brock said sadly.
Slade and Seth felt badly for Brock. "Don't worry, Brock." Seth said. "We'll join you on the Ferris Wheel. Cheer up."
Brock turns his head to the left and sees someone at the docks on the far side. "Who's that?" Brock wondered. Standing at the dock was a young woman. She was wearing a white dress as the wind blew through her purple hair. She was wearing a red band on her forehead with a beautiful red flower in her hair.
"What a knockout!" Brock yelled, staring at the pretty girl as he took a step forward.
All of the passengers got off the ship and walks all over Brock. Pikachu looks at Brock before looking at the woman. Hanging around her neck was a blue topaz, stone necklace. The woman took one look at Pikachu and Dragonair before she disappeared as a black, spherical Pokémon surrounded by a purple haze appeared. It has a wide, pink mouth with two visible fangs. Though its eyes seem to extend past its round body, visible eyelids surround them. The toxic gas surrounding the main body can induce fainting and suffocation. Then it disappeared.
"She's gone." Brock said, noticing the woman is not there.
"Pikachu." Pikachu wondered. He wondered it was an illusion.
"Cheer up, Brock." Ash said, cheering his friend up. "We're at a festival."
"Let's have some fun." Misty smiled.
Ash and Misty pulls Brock onto his feet and drags him to the festival with Jovan, Anna, July, Seth, Slade, Pikachu and Dragonair following behind them. As they were out of sight, Jessie, James, and Meowth appeared on the side of the dock along with Sam, Libby and Justin.
"Summer End Festival, eh?" Justin smirked.
"People spend a lot of money here." Jessie snickered. "But at a festival like this, they get distracted and drops their change all over the place."
"This is going to fun." Meowth said.
"Money is sweet." James said. He turns his head to the left and sees something at the end of the dock. It was the same woman from before that Brock saw earlier.
"Oh!" James gasps.
"Stop daydreaming!" Jessie growls at James, smacking him in the back of the head. James turns his head to look up at them. "That festival is waiting and I can smell money."
"The smell of corndogs..." Meowth said, starting to run with Jessie, Libby, Sam, and Justin.
But James look back at the dock and notice the woman was not there.
People are having a great time. A young woman dancing to the beat of the music, entertaining the audience. Others watch from rides. Ash and Misty were eating red apples as they were walking with their friends. Jovan and July was eating two chillie dogs as Anna was eating her vanilla ice cream. Seth and Slade enjoyed their pink lemonade. Everyone was having a great time except for Brock.
"She was the most beautiful girl I've ever seen." Brock said depressed as he stops walking.
His friends stops walking and looks at him.
"Hey you there!" an old voice shouted.
Brock quickly turns around with a smile on his face. "Are you the-" Brock was asking. Instead of the beautiful woman was a short old lay. She was wearing a purple robe with a tall staff. She has long white hair and black eyes.
"You're not the..." Brock was trying to say as he fell on the ground.
"Who's not beautiful?" the old lady asked.
She took out a magnifying glass and examines Brock's face. "Beware." she said. "Not even an older beauty like me but a younger woman you will meet shall be a cruel fate."
"That girl on the dock!" Brock gasps, backing away from her. "I need to meet her."
"I think she's talking about me." Misty smiled.
"I was talking about a young elegant woman." the old lady said, looking at Misty. "Not some scrawny little blubber mouth like you."
""Scrawny"?" Misty growled.
"Real scrawny." Ash joked.
Misty hits Ash on the head so far he hit the pavement. "That's it!" Misty snarled. "I don't have to stand here and be insulted! Let's get out of here!" She grabs Ash and Brock by the collar and drags them away as Pikahcu follows them.
"Misty sure know how pack a punch like that." Jovan said.
"Hm." July agreed.
"Let's go so we can catch up with them." Slade suggested.
Jessie, James and Meowth were crawling on the ground with magnifying glasses in their hands while Sam, Libby and Justin walks around, hoping to spot some change.
"I don't see any money around here!" Jessie complains.
"Not a quarter, a nickel, a dime or a penny!" James yelled.
Justin walks up to them. "This is some festival." Justin said. "There has to be something."
Then something caught James eyes. It was a shiny gold penny right in front of him.
"A penny!" James cheered. He couldn't believe his luck. Before James can pick it up, an old voice spoke.
"Hold it!"
"I dropped this!" James lied, turning around with a convincing smile, hoping the person would leave.
It was the same woman from before who met Ash and the others. "I've been watching you." the old lady said. "You're up to no good and there is no good in your future as well." She takes out her magnifying glass and began to examine James.
James crawls up to her with interest. "Who?" James asked. "The Police? The Sheriff? The FBI?"
"I see a young and beautiful woman who will leave you to cruel faith." the old lady answered him.
"You don't need to tell me that." James said. "She's always causing trouble and she's a curse."
"Who do you mean?" Jessie growled. She wanted to smack James for that comment.
"Good afternoon." a younger voice said.
"Hm?" Jessie asked confused. She turns around and sees Officer Jenny standing in front of them.
"I'm with the local police department." Officer Jenny said. "And I know what the six of you are up to."
Sam, Libby and Justin fell backward as Team Rocket screamed, horrified.
Officer Jenny walks past them and knelt down to James with her hand outstretch. "I've notice you found some change this afternoon." Officer Jenny said. "Whenever money is lost, it must be reported to the authorities."
James drops the penny in the Jenny's hand.
"Thanks for being an observant citizen." Officer Jenny said, standing up. "Now, if all of you follow me to the station so we'll file a report at the station."
That wasn't a good idea. If they head to the police station, they'll probably get busted easily.
"We don't want to get in your way." Jessie said as she quickly got in front of James with a nervous smile on her face.
Sam, Justin and Libby were back on their feet. "Keep the change." Libby said nervously. "You can file it without us."
Jessie picks up James and Meowth and all six of them ran from Officer Jenny.
"Welcome everyone!" an old man said.
There was so many people standing in front of a shrine.
"To celebrate the Summer's End Festival, we will now display the shrine of the maiden's sacred treasure." the old man said. He was wearing yellow pants and a brown kimono with a black hat. "For two thousand years, this painting has been hung within the shrine of the maiden. Each year it is removed from the shrine to display to the public during this time of the festival. As I unveil the painting, please gaze with purpose!"
With that said, he removed the cloak.
"Whoa!" everyone gasps.
On the picture was the same woman that James and Brock saw back at the docks.
"Who's that?" Jessie asked.
Team Rocket and Team Neo was hiding in the crowd.
"Whoever she is, she's pretty." Justin said.
"It's her." James gasps.
"But it can't be." Brock muttered.
Brock continues to stare at her as James came out to the front of the crowd. They both saw her back at the docks. Why didn't anyone notice her there?
"She's so incredibly beautiful." Brock said, not taking his eyes off of the painting.
"She's the girl of my dreams." James said with a dazed look. "Don't wake me up."
They both took a step to get a better look.
"Stay back." the old man said, pushing them back. "The woman in this painting perish two thousand years ago."
"Two thousand years..." Brock repeated.
"She was in love with a brave and handsome young man." he explains. "But he left her and sailed away to fight in a war. And she did wait for him for a very long time, hoping to see his ship on the horizon. But her true love never returned from that place. Though she waited, never moving from that spot, her body finally turned to stone, just like the cliff upon where she stood. To this day, she stills wait for her to return."
"Tell me." Brock said. "Where is this rock?" He was determined.
"The rock is not far from this shrine." the old man said.
As the sun was setting in the ocean, Brock stares at the statue with interest. His friends stood behind him.
"So that's Maiden Rock." Brock said amazed. "I've never seen a beautiful rock."
On the other side of shrine, Jessie was trying her best to stop James from falling down the cliff.
"I don't care if she's made of stone." James said, trying to get to the stone statue. "I'm still in love."
"I think he's going overboard on this one." Sam said.
"If she were my girlfriend, I'd make sure she stays in my sight." Brock said.
"No one will ever steal it from me!" James shouted. "Not even Team Rocket or Team Neo! I'll fight them to keep her safe!"
"James, you're insane!" Jessie growled in annoyance. "Why would we steal that?"
"We could steal that painting." Justin suggested.
Jessie turns her head around. "What do you mean?" Jessie asked.
"Pokémon are rare." Justin said. "But even a painting like that is rare. "How about we swipe it?"
"Hm." Jessie said, letting of James unware. "If we steal the painting, we can make money."
"Jessie, Jessie!" James yelled.
Jessie turns around and sees James hanging on to the railing.
"Before you do that, grab me!" James yelled.
Jessie grabs James and tries to pull him up. But she went over the railing and James and Jessie fell into the water.
"Team Rocket and Team Neo are slipping." Meowth said.
Ash and the others waited until it was nighttime. The full moon shines brightly in the peaceful sky.
"No matter how long we wait here, a rock is rock." Ash said.
"I know." Anna said. "We should head back to the festival, Brock."
Brock was sitting on the ground with his legs crossed. "You guys go on ahead." Brock said, his fixed on the statue. "I'm going to stay here for a little more longer."
"You remember where we're staying?" Ash asked.
"At the Pokémon Center by the port." Brock answered. "I'll be back by curfew."
Ash picks up his bag and looks at Brock.
"Don't worry about me." Brock said. "I'll be fine."
They all left Brock at the statue, making their way to the Pokémon Center.
Two Hours Later...
It's been two hours since they left Brock. The clock's big hand moves to twelve as a Pidgey came out of the clock
"Eleven O'clock! Curfew Time!" it chipped. "Curfew time!"
Jovan was sitting next to Pikachu as Seth and Slade sat next to Misty across from Ash.
"Now I'm really getting worried." Misty said with a worried look on her face. She turns her head around, hoping Brock would come back. "Brock still isn't back yet."
Seth and Slade hadn't said anything. Why couldn't Brock just come back now? Jovan notices the metal doors sliding into place in front of the doors.
"Wait!" Ash exclaims, standing up. "I'll go out and look for him!"
He took a couple steps forward but Nurse Joy grabs him by the collar.
"Hold it." Nurse Joy said. "Don't you know it's way past your bedtime?"
"Yeah." Ash answered her, turning his head around. "But-"
"Staying up late is bad for your skin." Nurse Joy interrupted. "It causes you to be irritable and ruins your appetite. I won't allow it. Now go to bed this instant."
Somewhere near the shrine, Jessie, James and Meowth were sleeping in their sleeping bags on a branch while, Sam, Libby and Justin were on the ground sleeping at the base of the tree. An alarm went off as Meowth opens his eyes.
"What time is it?" Meowth yawned. He takes out the alarm clock and notices it was eleven ten. "Hey you guys! Time to steal the painting!"
"Beauty sleep..." Jessie muttered.
"I must meet you..." James muttered "I'm coming for you..."
Then a wind blew.
"What's going on?!" Meowth shouted. To answer his question, the doors to the shrine opened. The woman was pale as she steps outside the shrine. "Who's that?"
She stops and spots Meowth staring at her.
"Ah!" Meowth yelled, terrified.
The ghost let out a mysterious purple wave of aura at Meowth. Meowth felt himself tired and went back to sleep. The woman floats over to them.
"My love." the woman said. "I'm waiting for you."
"Who said that?" James muttered, opening his eyes. He looks down and sees the woman. "Who are you?"
The woman has said nothing, giving him a smile.
"It's you." James realizing it's her. "So it really was you."
Brock hasn't moved from his spot after his friends headed back to the Pokémon Center. "Two thousand years." Brock muttered, thinking about the woman. But he a feeling someone was behind him. He turns around and sees the same woman that he saw in the painting.
"I've been waiting for you, for such a long time." the woman spoke.
"It's you." Brock gasps, smiling at her. "It's really you."
The woman nodded her head as the waves crashed against the rock wall.
The sun begun to rise over the horizon as everyone went back to the peak.
"Brock!" Ash called out to his friend.
"Where are you?!" July called.
"James, can you at least answer?!" Jessie called.
"Hey Brock!" Ash called again.
They were all standing in front of the shrine.
Ash and Jessie turns around and saw each other.
"Oh!" Jessie groans.
"You again." Ash growled.
"Yuck." Jessie snarled.
"Double yuck." Ash growled.
"We've finally found you." Jessie said, but then she realized they were looking for their friend. "Wait a sec. You're not the one I'm looking for."
"What do you mean by that?" Jovan asked. "Are you looking for James?"
Jessie smirks as she crosses her arms over her chest. "Prepare for trouble. And make it double. Doing this by myself is a real drag." she muttered that last part sentence. Then continues doing the motto. "To protect the world from devastation. To unite all people within our nation. To denounce the evil of truth and love."
"To extend our reach to the stars above." James's voice said.
"Jessie?" Jessie asked herself confused.
Everyone heard James voice. They all turned their heads looking for James to appear.
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!" Jessie called.
"Surrender now..." James voice said.
Everyone turns around and see the door opens as James was thrown out.
"Or prepare to fight..." James moaned as he hit the ground.
"He looks awful." Jessie said, looking at James on the ground.
Then Brock was thrown out and fell to the ground next to James.
"Brock!" Ash gasps. "What's wrong?"
Brock and James didn't say anything as if they were both been satisfied. Jovan watches Ash helps Brock to sit up as Jessie was shaking James.
"I can't believe he was here all night." Jovan said.
"So everything turned out just as I predicted." a old voice said.
They all look up and sees the old woman from yesterday.
"It's the old woman." Ash said.
"It turns out that these two have seen the Ghost Of The Maiden." the old woman smiled.
""Ghost Of The Maiden"?" Ash, Misty, Jessie and Meowth repeated.
Seth and Slade watches Ash and Jessie let go of their two friends as they started to hug.
"They're possessed." Ash said, freaking out, turning to Pikachu. "Pikachu!"
"Cha!" Pikachu shouted, releasing a Thunder Shock at Brock and James.
"AAAHHH!" Brock and James yelled, feeling the electricity.
Brock sat up. "Who am I?" Brock asked. "I'm Brock."
"Brock's back." Ash smiled.
James sat up as well. "I'm James from Team Rocket." James said. "Yay!"
"He's back." Jessie sighed with a face palm.
"But not to normal..." Meowth said, crossing his arms.
The old woman led them all inside the shrine. She threw a matchstick in the wood as the fire appeared. "All men who passed this way falls under her spell." the old woman explains, looking over her shoulder.
Jovan was sitting next to Ash, Pikachu and Misty. July and Anna sat behind him with Dragonair as Seth and Slade stood on either side of Brock. Sam stood next Seth, keeping an eye on James as Libby was sitting next to Jessie. Justin stood behind Libby as Meowth was sitting down in front of Jessie.
"It's always the same story over and over again." she continues to explain. "We find them acting like zombies with the life suck out of them, babbling like idiots." The old woman turns around. "It's the work of that maiden's ghost, waiting for a young soul to return just as I warned you."
"So what?" Brock asks, sitting behind Anna. "Who cares as long as I can be with her."
"Oh brother." Jovan muttered.
"I'm scared!" James whined. "You've got to do something about it!"
"There is only one thing to do." the old woman announced.
"What would that be?" Jovan asked.
"We have stickers." the old woman smiled, taking out small pieces of paper.
Before Jovan can say anything, she quickly puts the stickers on James and Brock's faces.
"These are anti ghost stickers." she explains. "However..."
"What's the catch?" Ash asked, looking over his shoulder.
The old woman took out a cashier machine. "I just can't give these stickers away for free." she smiled.
"AAA!" Ash groans, falling on the floor.
They all paid her for the stickers. Jovan, Anna, July, Seth and Slade were on the roof putting the stickers in place. Ash and Misty places the stickers on the wall in front of the shrine.
"What do you guys think?" Jovan asked.
"I don't know." Anna answered. "Don't you think somebody is trying to be the ghost of the maiden?"
"If they were trying to be the ghost of the maiden, we would have seen some equipment around here." July answered.
"But Brock stayed here last night and James came along." Slade said. "We would've heard some noises up here."
"And this time we are all going to stay tonight and see what happens." Jovan said.
Night came around. The old woman, Brock and James sat in silence. Jovan, Seth and Slade stood behind them facing the door. July, Anna, Sam, Libby and Dragonair stood in between them.
"Anything?" Jovan asked Ash, looking over to his left.
"Not yet." Ash answered.
"Is she coming here yet?" Libby asked.
"I hope so." Justin answered.
The wind blew violently as the waves crashes against the peak's wall. The wind blew so hard, all of the stickers were blown off the house.
"She's here!" the old woman shouted, turning around.
The wind blew the doors open hard as the ghost maiden appeared outside. Jovan had both of his arms in front of his face to protect himself from the blast of the wind. The fire died and Brock stood up. He wasn't wearing the anti ghost stickers except James, who have a sticker on his face.
"It's you." Brock said.
"I've been waiting for you." the maiden ghost said.
"Yes." Brock said. "I've been waiting for you too."
"I'm scared!" James whined. "Really, really scared!" There were tears rolling down his face. His body shook with fear.
"I've wanted to meet you." the maiden ghost said.
Seth and Slade didn't say anything, keeping their breaths steady and calm. Then they notice the ghost backs away from the door to the right side of the house and Brock and James were beginning to float right outside the shrine. Seth and Slade duck, watching their friend float passed by.
James grabs the railing, trying to hold on. "But why?!" James complained. "Why aren't the stickers working?!" He was right. Why were the stickers were not working?
"Maybe..." Jessie said, crawling up to him with Meowth.
"Because..." Meowth was trying to say.
"We got them for free." Jessie and Meowth said together, sadly.
"What do you mean "free"?" James asked.
"It was a two for one deal." Jessie explains. "We got one set free for every set they bought." Jessie pointed over his shoulder. "It was a real bargain."
James looks over his right shoulder and watches Brock floats away outside with his friends following him. He looks back at Jessie and Meowth. "You used free freebies?" James asked shocked.
"Sorry James." Sam said.
"I can't believe you're just letting that ghost get me because you are so cheap!" James yelled.
"You don't want to go?" Jessie asked.
"Of course I don't want to go." James answered. He didn't realized he let of the railing. "I don't want to go!"
The ghost flew over the railing, watching Brock comes to him.
"Wait Brock!" Ash yelled, grabbing his leg.
"Grab him!" Misty yelled, joining Ash to grab Brock's other leg as Pikachu grabs both of them.
"Hey!" Brock shouted. "Let me go!"
They pulled him over the rail as James floats closer to the ghost.
"I don't want to go!" James screamed.
Jessie took out a rocket launcher and fires at the maiden's ghost. The flame went through her, causing James to fall.
"Hey, girl!" Jessie shouted. "You can't take him! You don't have a ghoul of a chance!"
Ash and Misty heard something behind them and turns around. They see James appearing at the edge of the cliff.
"You really do care!" James gasps with a twinkle in his eye.
"It's not cause of you, James." Jessie said, throwing away her rocket launcher. "Girls like her disgust me. Always waiting around for her man, as if she were his faithful pet. She can't stand the thought of losing him. She cries. But I say see you later. There's plenty of more fish in the sea."
"I could go with some fish sticks." Justin said.
"I've been waiting." the maiden's ghost said. "You cannot interfere." She spreads her arms, letting out a purple wind.
The purple wind blew past them in a nearby bush. Several more ghost appeared from the bush, cackling.
Jessie, Meowth, Sam, Libby and Justin quickly went over to James and the others.
"What is that?" Misty asked, scared.
"They're not Pokémon." Jovan said as everyone took out their Pokédex.
"No
"Great." July moaned.
The spirits flew past them laughing. Anna stood close to Jovan.
Pokémon still searching."
Ash and Misty looks left and right, searching for the Pokémon that's causing this. When they pointed the Pokédex, its light turned blue.
Pokémon entry found. Gastly, a ghost Pokémon. It is usually invisible. Its specialty is Hypnosis."
"Gastly?" Ash asked. "You're really a Pokémon?"
"So you finally figure it out." the maiden's ghost said. "Sometimes I'm the two thousand year old ghost of the maiden..." then she transforms into the old woman. "And sometimes I'll be the mysterious old woman. But no matter what the disguise, I'll always be..." then her cloak spun around and pasts quickly as Gastly appeared. "Awfully Gastly." Gastly said.
"Well then, Gastly. Time for a battle!" Ash declared. "Pikachu!'
"Heh." Gastly smirked. "My hypnotic powers can work on Pokémon too, including little rodents."
"Pika." Pikachu said confused.
Burning Battle (Kanto Trainer Battle)
"Stop a rodent, with a mouse trap!" Gastly shouted, transforming in to a big mouse trap.
"Cha!" Pikachu shouted scared, running away from it.
"Go Pidgey!" Justin yelled, throwing his Pokéball and Pidgey appeared.
"Mouse traps won't hurt Meowth!" Meowth shouted.
"So, you two." Gastly smirks. "Want to play games?"
"Aahh!" Meowth shouted, charging at Gastly with Pidgey.
"Here's a cat toy for you and female as well!" Gastly shouted. He transforms into a pink ball and a female Pidgey.
"Go Ekans!" Jessie shouted as Ekans lunges at Gastly with Weedle.
"A snake's natural enemy is a mongoose." Gastly stated, transforming into a mongoos by the time Ekans wraps around the giant mongoose. "Diner time!"
"GAH!" Ekans screamed slithering back to Jessie and Libby with Weedle.
"Your turn." Jessie said, sitting down next to James.
"Uh..." James said. "Koffing, use Poison Gas."
"Koffing!" Koffing shouted, releasing dark green toxic gases at the mongoose.
The mongoose steps Koffing to the ground with no effort. "Smoking is prohibited." the mongoose said, wearing a gas mask.
"My turn now." Ash said. "Go Charmander!" He threw his Pokéball and Charmander appeared.
"Char Char!" Charmander said happily.
"Well now." Gastly said. He transforms into a red fire extinguisher. "Here you go, squirt!" He fires a white foam at Charmander.
"Char!" Charmander screamed, running away to protect his tail.
The fire extinguisher transforms back into Gastly. "Now who shall I defeat next?" Gastly asked.
"Gr!" Ash growled, taking out two more Pokéballs. "Bulbasaur, Squirtle! Attack together!" He threw the two Pokéballs and Bulbasaur and Squirtle appeared.
"Bulba!" Bulbasaur barked.
"Squirtle" Squirtle shouted.
"Ha!" Gastly snickered. "What a nuisance. This is too easy!" He quickly spun around and two more Pokémon appeared. "Here are Bulbasaur's and Squirtle's evolved forms, Venasaur and Blastoise."
The first Pokémon is a large, bipedal turtle-like Pokémon. Its body is blue and is mostly hidden by its tough, brown shell. This shell has a pale yellow underside and a white ridge encircling its arms and separating the upper and lower halves. Two powerful water cannons reside in the top sides of its shell. These cannons can be extended or withdrawn and can be used to assist in high-speed charges. Blastoise's head has triangular ears that are black on the inside, small brown eyes, and a cream-colored lower jaw. Its arms are thick and striated with three claws on each hand. Its feet have three claws on the front and one on the back. It has a stubby tail.
The second Pokémon is a squat, quadruped Pokémon with bumpy, blue-green skin. It has small, circular red eyes, a short, blunt snout, and a wide mouth with two pointed teeth in the upper jaw and four in the lower jaw. On top of its head are small, pointed ears with reddish pink insides. It has three clawed toes on each foot. The bud on its back has bloomed in a large pink, white-spotted flower. The flower is supported by a thick, brown trunk surrounded by green fronds.
"And just for fun, I'll combine them into one super Pokémon to make Venustoise." Gastly's voice echoed.
The two Pokémon touches each other and a bright light shines. The light dies down to reveal Venustosie. The large pink, white-spotted flower was on the shell and it has red eyes instead of small brown eyes.
"Try this on for size!" Gastly snickered.
Squirtle and Bulbasaur screams and went back to Ash.
"Let's go, everyone!" Jovan yells, throwing five Pokéballs in the air and his Pokémon appeared.
"Interesting." Gastly said.
Pidgeotto flew towards Gastly, attacking. But Gastly was too quick as he transforms into a bird cage, trapping him. The cage shook violently as Pidgeotto was getting banged up. The cage threw Pidgeotto in the air at Bulb and Aqua. All three of them were hit and fell to the ground. Jovan's Charmander releases a Flamethrower at the cage, but the cage dodge and it transforms back into the fire extinguisher. Before it can spray, Arcanine grabs it with his mouth and threw it away.
"Gr." Gastly grunted, transforming back into itself.
"Dragonair!" Dragonair shouted, firing an Ice Beam at Gastly.
"Hey now!" Gastly shouted. "Chill out!" He transforms into an AC and fires a cold blast at Dragonair. The blast stops Dragonair in her tracks as Arcanine got in front of her before he was knocked into her with a baseball bat.
"Is that all?" Gastly chuckled.
"Not quite!" Jovan growled. He transforms into the black Dragonite as Anna became the Blue Eyed Ninetails while July and Seth transforms into two Pokémon. July transforms into Sandshrew and Seth transforms into Onix.
"Groar!" Seth roared.
"Scared now, Gastly?!" Slade taunted.
"Not quite." Gastly said. "I've heard rumors that humans can transform into a Pokémon. But let's see how you do well with this!"
Then Gastly transforms into Greymon.
"No way!" Slade gasps.
His friends didn't get the chance to attack as they were hit quickly from Greymon's Tail Attack. That attack was too much as Slade's friends were lying on the ground transforming back into their human forms. Gastly cackled as Slade ran over to his friends.
Music Stops
"We lose." Ash said sadly. "Its just too strong."
"Then how about this?!" Misty yelled, running past Ash and taking out a cross in front of Gastly.
"What's that?" Gastly asked.
"It's a cross." Misty answered. "I also got garlic, a stake and a hammer." She took out each one from behind.
"Huh?" Gastly groan. "What do you think I am, a vampire or something? Huh?"
They can hear the church bell ringing and Gastly began to shake.
"What's happening?" Ash asked confused.
"I may not be a vampire, but I hate sunlight." Gastly groans, closing its eyes. "It's time for me to go until the next festival." Gastly begins to disappear. "Don't forget the ghost of the maiden. She and the old lady will return next year too!" His voice echoed and Gastly disappeared.
"That was ghastly." Misty said.
Everyone agreed.
"Hey look!" Meowth shouted. "The sun!"
The sun began to rise over the horizon. The sun's light shines brightly. Slade looks down as his friends began to move.
"Are you alright?" Slade asked, helping July to sit up.
"I think so." July groans rubbing her head.
Jovan shook his black dragon hair as he opens his black eyes. Seth rubs his brown eyes and opens them while scratching his short spike brown hair.
"I feel I've been hit by a bus." Jovan groans, sitting up.
"That was more than a bus." Anna moans as Misty help her up to her feet.
"Where's Gastly?" Jovan asked as Brock pulls him up.
"Gastly disappeared." Brock answered.
It was a long day for them as night came by. Ash and Misty were kneeling down, putting a small wooden boat with a candle inside of a small box into the river as Nurse Joy and Pikachu watches them. Brock stood with Officer Jenny near the sidewalk as everyone was putting small boats into the river that lead to the ocean.
"At the end of the summer, visitors send out these tiny boats." Officer Jenny explain as she and Brock watches the tiny ships moved down the river. "Each one with a candle to help light the way for any wondering spirits who can't find their way back home."
Jovan, Seth, Slade and Anna stood on top of July's head seeing the tiny boats coming their way. July swam to the other watching the tiny boats pass them. Slade can see the maiden'ts ghost, looking upon the statute of the maiden.
"This summer is over." Gastly's voice said, transforming into the old woman. "But your legend will live on."
July turns around and looks up and gasps of what she saw. Floating high in front of the statue was none other than the real ghost of the maiden. They couldn't believe what they saw next. Appearing right next to her was a girl. The girl has long silver hair, blue eyes and was wearing a white robe.
"Thank you Gastly." the maiden said.
"My pleasure." Gastly's voice said before transforming back to its normal self. "I enjoy keeping alive all the old legends that people have forgotten over the years, and if I do a good job of it, I make a few bucks as well."
"I'll see you again next festival." the maiden said. "I'll be waiting until that day when my love returns to me at last."
"Well I am a ghost Pokémon." Gastly pointed out. "Perhaps one day I'll meet the young man you love. If I do meet him, I'll remind him that his maiden still longs for him to return."
"If you see my younger brother, send him my regards." the second girl said.
"I shall." Gastly said.
"Thank you, Gastly." The maiden said as the two ghost began to disappear. "And goodbye." Her voice echoed as they disappear.
Everyone was completely shock as July swam back to the beach. They just saw the real ghost of the maiden with another girl. They all head back to the Pokémon Center and puts on kimono dresses. Jovan and July was wearing matching white kimono, Anna wore a pink kimono dress, Seth wore a brown kimono dress and Slade was wearing a red kimono. They head into the forest as everyone celebrated the last night of Summer's End. July see's Jessie and James pounding on the drums as Meowth was playing the flute. Down below was Libby and Sam, entertaining the visitors in their midsummer yellow kimono's as Justin played the violin.
Jovan found a quite place away from the party, looking at his Pokédex with Dragonair. He was looking at Gastly's data.
"Gastly can create illusions." Jovan thought, remembering fighting Greymon. If Gastky can create illusions, then would it be that Gastly be the mysterious hooded figure? It wouldn't be possible. The mysterious hooded figure owns a Vaporeon and saved them on several occasions. But then he felt two arms snaking around his neck, interrupting his thoughts. He looks over his right shoulder and sees Anna.
"Let's go, Jovan." Anna smiled. "Everyone's dancing."
"Ok." Jovan said. "Come on Dragonair."
"Nair!" Dragonair exclaims excitedly.
And so, the Summer Festival draws to a close. There's autumn in the air, which means poor Brock won't get back to beach until next year. But cheer up Brock, a lot can happen in the year's time. Who knows what new adventures and romances are waiting just over the horizon.
