Sparks Fly For Magnemite
Our friend's journey has led them to a desolate factory known as Gringey City. A depressing place where few people live and the ocean wind smells like sludge. Their next adventure begins.
Ash, Jovan, July and their friends was walking by some warehouses and the ocean. They all stop to take a look at the city.
"Talk about one weird city." Ash said. "There's a bunch of factories, but no people."
Misty took out a green guidebook. "This place is called Gringey City." Misty read.
"Gringey City?" Jovan asked confused, turning his head to look at her. "They should've called it Stink City because of the smell here."
"Why is called Gringey City?" July asked.
"It used to be a lively busy place with all these factories here." Misty explains.
"They went overboard with the factories." Brock added. "It ruin the air and water here."
Jovan walks over to the edge and looks at the water. The water was brown and filthy. He leans in to take a closer look and a small dirty bubble popped on his face. "Aw man!" Jovan groans, backing away from the water. "That water stinks to bad."
"Do you guy's think we'll find any wild Pokémon here?" Anna asks.
"Who knows." Seth shrugs his shoulders.
Ash, Brock and Misty looks down and notices Pikachu was not feeling too good. "Pikachu, what's wrong?" Ash asks Pikachu.
"Pi... Kaa…" Pikachu murmured weakly, trying not to fall over.
"Pikachu!" Ash yelles. He kneels down and caught Pikachu. As Ash touch Pikachu, Pikachu shocks him "AHHH!" Ash screamed.
Several feet away in alley way looking at them, a Pokémon was watching them. Ash puts on the rubber gloves and picks up Pikachu.
"Let's head to the Pokémon Center." Ash said.
Everyone started to run, looking for the Pokémon Center.
"We'll get you to the Pokémon Center as soon as we can, Pikachu." Ash said, looking down at him before looking back up.
They found the Pokémon Center five minutes later and ran inside. A pair of eyes was staring through the periscope. Team Rocket and Team Neo were in the sewers. Meowth was in a small orange spaceship.
"That's them." Meowth announced. "And they're on their way to the Pokémon Center."
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all peoples within our nation!"
But Jessie and James couldn't finish their moto because of the smell was so terrible. Even Libby and Sam was complaining.
"This is ridiculous, Meowth!" Sam complains to Meowth.
"Just relax and put on the suits I got for you four." Meowth said.
Jessie, James, Libby and Sam put on the suits. Justin, however, was wearing a blue gas mask. He plugs a cord into the wall and small green machine was pumping clean air and oxygen through the four tubes.
"This thing has a mixture of oxygen and air freshener." Meowth explains.
"That's the stuff." Libby sighs in relief.
James looks at Meowth angrily. "Why didn't you tell us these suits before?!" James complains. "Any why does Justin have a gas mask?!"
"Quit complaining." Meowth said. "Justin and I came up with this ingenious scheme. Now get into the pipe and swim to the Pokémon Center, Jessie and James. We're wasting time here."
"There's no way I'm going in there!" Jessie shouted angrily."
"I'm one hundred percent agree with her." James agreed. "We all want to get Pikachu badly as you, but this is humiliating!"
"We won't go through with this Meowth." Jessie said, looking at her partner. "You're going on this mission alone. I'm sorry this shocks you."
"So am I." Meowth agreed with a smile and pushes a small blue button.
Jessie, James, Libby and Sam were getting electrocuted by the suits.
"AAHH!" they all screamed.
"I knew you see it my way." Meowth said, opening an eye.
"What about us?" Sam asks him.
"You're here as backup in case something goes wrong." Justin explains.
Jessie and James steps inside the dirty water before looking up at Meowth.
"You'll pay for this Meowth." Jessie growled.
"Why do we always get the dirty work?" James muttered before Jessie and himself disappeared underneath the dirty water.
"Hey Nurse!" Ash shouted, tapping the bell counter.
A tired Nurse Joy comes into the room. "Yawn..." Nurse Joy yawned, walking up to the counter. "Do you kids have any idea what time it is? Don't you know you should be sleeping now?"
"I'm sorry." Ash apologizes to her. "There's something wrong with my Pikachu."
"Yawn." Nurse Joy yawned, taking a look at Pikachu. "A cold."
"Gr." Ash growled angrily. "This is no cold! Your sisters and cousins were a lot more helpful!"
"Yawn!" Nurse Joy yawns again. "There's no need to get excited." She points to Pikachu's cheeks. "Look. See those sparks?"
Ash looks down at Pikachu and saw sparks coming out.
"That's an early symptom cold for an electric rodent Pokémon." she explains. "If you leave it overnight, I'm sure it will be fine in the morning."
"Excuse me." Ash said. "Are you by any chance the oddball in your family?"
"Oh no." Nurse Joy said, giving him a smile. "It's just my other relatives that are odd."
Everyone gave the nurse an odd look.
Somewhere near the power plant in the ocean, a slimy, amorphous blob-like Pokémon rose to the ocean's surface. Its purple sludge body contains a variety of pungent bacteria, which are so potent that it renders soil barren and incapable of supporting plant life. It has two large eyes with beady pupils, and a gaping mouth with a gray tongue. While it lacks any visible legs, it does have two arms with three digits on each hand. It is constantly oozing a bacteria-rich fluid from all parts of its body.
All the slimy blob Pokémon began to block the water flow that flowing into the ocean.
In side the powerplant was two employees. While they were staring at their screens, the power went off, leaving the room to be in darkness.
"What's that?" the first employee wondered.
"Our generator is completely down." the second employee said, looking back at the screen. "The water intake valve is totally jammed!"
"It can't be!"
Back down in the sewer, the generator went off completely.
"Hey!" Meowth shouted. "What's going on? The power supply just went dead!" He looks through the glass as his two friends were swimming down there. "If the pump stops working, there's no air. They won't like that." he muttered. Meowth turns around. He gasps. "What do I do? What do I do? What do I do? What do I do?"
Libby turns her head around to see Meowth panicking. "What is he panicking about?" Libby wondered. She was hit by the full force of a terrible smell coming through the air supply. "The air supply!"
Libby and Sam was running back and forth and they ran into each other before they fell into the dirty water.
The power went off inside the Pokémon Center. When they rush into the back room, there was some Pokémon lying on the table inside a glass window.
"What happened to these Pokémon, Joy?" Jovan asks her.
"They're in a tensive care." Nurse Joy explains, looking at the Pokémon. "If we don't get the power back soon, well, I just don't want to think what will happen."
"Don't just stand there!" Ash yelled at her.
"Joy, do something!" Misty pleaded.
"I don't know what to do." Nurse Joy said sadly.
"Nair." Dragonair said, worried.
"Hey, stop giving Joy a hard time." Brock scolded Ash and Misty. His two friends looks at him. "There's nothing she can do."
"Let's go." Ash said.
Nurse Joy turns around to watch them leave. She looks down and notice Pikachu stretch his arm out.
"Pikachu." Pikachu cried weakly.
Ash and the others stop to turn around to look at Pikachu. "Don't worry, Pikachu." Ash smiles at him "We'll be back when the power comes back on." The Pokémon Trainers left the room.
"Good luck, everybody." Nurse Joy said softly.
"Chu..." Pikachu whines.
The trainers stood in front of Officer Jenny at her small station.
"I'm trying to find out." Officer Jenny told them. "But there's no answer at the power plant."
"We don't have much time." Ash said.
"What does the Power Plant look like?" Misty asks the officer.
"You can't miss it." Officer Jenny said, turning to the left and pointing. "It's the big buildings with the smokestacks."
"Then let's go." Jovan said, taking a Poké Ball. "Come on out, Arcanine!" He throws the Poké Ball and Arcanine appeared.
"We'll go on ahead and you guys at the power plant." July said.
Jovan transforms into the black Dragonite form and July and Anna got on his back while Seth and Slade got onto Arcanine's back. They left their friends at the police station and went on over to the power plant. July can see that the city has plunge into darkness because the city has lost power. After flying for about ten minutes, Jovan and Dragonair landed next to Seth, Slade and Arcanine right in front of the power plant.
"Good job, Arcanine." Jovan said, taking out Arcanine's Poké Ball. "Return."
Arcanine smiled before he transforms into red energy and went back inside the Poké Ball. Jovan opens the gate and walks up to the door of the power plant and opens it. The room was dark.
"Looks like no one is here." Jovan said.
They walk inside the room.
"Nair." Dragonair said, looking sideways of the room.
"Any idea where the room is?" July wondered.
Anna found a map of the building to her right. "The central control room is down here." Anna said, pointing down the hall.
Everyone began to walk in the hallway. They can hear the sound of their own footsteps, echoing off the walls. Jovan wondered how far to the central control room is from here. "How much farther until we get to the central control room?" Jovan asked, turning his head around to look at Anna.
"Not far." Anna said.
July stops walking as something caught her nose.
Everyone stops and looks at her.
"Why did you stop, July?" Jovan asks his sister.
July took a sniff in the air. The air was beginning to stink for some reason. "It smells terrible in here." July said, covering her nose. "Do you smell it?" She watches them all sniff the air and covered their noses.
"It stinks." Jovan said.
"You don't think some people left the trash out?" Slade asked, covering nose.
The air vent broke and the seven blob Pokémon fell down onto the floor in front of them.
"What is that?" July asked, taking out her Poké Dex.
"Grimer, a Sludge Pokémon. Born from sludge, these Pokémon specializes in Sludge Attacks."
"Have you Grimer ever heard of air freshener?" Jovan asks the Grimer. "Because you smell bad."
"Not to mention stinky." Anna muttered under her breath.
Then a large, sticky, amorphous Pokémon, fell down in the center of the Grimer. It was made of living purple sludge. It has two small eyes with beady black pupils. It also has an enormous mouth with a gray tongue and strands of ooze connecting its top and bottom jaws. While it has no visible legs, it does have two arms with three fingers on each hand. However, it typically keeps one hand tucked in while it extends the other hand.
"Who's this?" July asked as she still has her Poké Dex out.
"Muk, Grimer's evolved formed. Use extreme caution, as its slimy form contains poison."
"Muk!" Muk ordered the seven Grimer to attack.
"Run for it!" Slade shouted.
They all turned around and started running down the hall. Jovan notice they enough room to make an escape. "Pidgeotto, go!" Jovan shouted. He threw the Poké Ball and Pidgeotto appeared.
"Use Gust so we can escaped!" Jovan ordered.
Pidgeotto started flapping his wings, creating a gust of wind. The Grimer covered their eyes.
"Good work!" Jovan shouted. "Return!"
Pidgeotto transforms into red energy and went back inside the Poké Ball. The trainers took a right turn and left turn down the hall and notices a door at the end.
"In there!" Seth shouted. He opens the door and everyone ran inside before Jovan closes the door.
"Talk about cutting it close." Jovan panted, catching his breath.
"This must be the central control room." Slade said. He was right. There was a bunch of computers up against the wall in front of them and on the left side of the room as well. Slade and Seth walks over to the computers.
"So how do we turn on the power?" Jovan asked, walking up to them.
"I'm not sure." Slade said.
"Is there any backup generators in here?" July asks Seth.
"No." Seth answers her. "It looks like there isn't any backup generators here."
"Do you guys think that the Grimer and Muk are the ones that is causing the blackout?" Jovan asked. Before someone can answer him, there was a terrified scream from the other side of the room.
July and Anna stood behind Jovan, scared.
"You don't think that was a ghost, right?" Jovan asks his sister behind his back.
"Please go check." July pleaded him.
"Fine." Jovan grumbled. "I'll check it out." He took a couple of steps forward in front of July and Anna and stop. "If anyone is there, come in. But if you're a ghost, just stay where you are and we'll resume having a snack."
Anna face palms her face. "Are you kidding me?" Anna growled. She pushes Jovan closer to the door.
"Seth, push me that chair." Jovan said.
Seth walks over to a red chair with wheels on it and rolls it to Jovan. Jovan picks up the chair and put it above his head. He wasn't going to let the Grimer and Muk get them that easily without a fight. Jovan took a couple steps closer to the door. As soon as Jovan was close to the door, the door slams him in the face, making him to take a few steps and bump into Anna. He threw the chair above his head as he rubs his face.
The chair hits Jovan and Anna in the head, causing Jovan and Anna to fall on the floor with Jovan on top of Anna. July sees two employees running into the room with Ash, Brock, Misty and Pikachu. Brock was the last one to slam the door behind him so the Grimer and Muk can't get in. The Pewter City Gym Leader barricaded the door.
"What are you kids doing in here?" the first employee asked. "And why is that girl on top of him?"
"Some slam to the face..." Jovan groaned rubbing his head and face.
"You've said it." Anna groans as she got up on all fours.
"I didn't know that you two wanted to date each other." July teased. "Because I can smell the love in the air."
"It's not what it looks like!" Jovan and Anna yelled at July with their faces red.
Nurse Joy was looking at the Sandshrew as she was worried for the Pokémon and the kids. "Hang in there." Nurse Joy said. "Those kids are going to get the power back on real soon, I'm sure." She looks up. "At least I hope so..." Nurse Joy prays that they will get the power back on soon.
"They need that power." Ash said to the two employees.
"But we can't." the first employee said. "They're so many Grimer blocking the seawater intake."
"We've got to bring the water to a boil, so it will turn the turbines or the generator won't work." the second employee said.
"Then do something about it!" Jovan growls at them.
"I'm afraid that's easy to say." the second employee said. "We've been trying to-"
"You guys!" Brock interrupted. He could feel the door being rammed by the Grimer. "The door is being rammed by the Grimer! I can't hold it!"
Outside of the hallway, Muk orders the Grimer to continue to ram the door.
Back inside the room, Ash and Misty ran to the door and helps Brock to block the door being opened.
"I hate to say it!" Misty grunted, trying to make sure that the door won't open. "If we don't get the power back on, we'll be on the Muk's menu!"
"But what can we do?!" Ash shouted.
Before his friends can answer him, the door slams opened, forcing the three trainers to retreat back with the others. The Grimers made their way inside the central control room.
"Grimer! Grimer! Grimer!" they all shouted.
"Are all of you guys Pokémon Trainers?" the first employee asks them.
"We are trainers except for Slade." Jovan answered.
"You got to use your Pokémon to help us out!"
"That's right." the second employee agreed. "If you can get rid of the Grimer, the generator will work."
"But Ash's Pikachu is sick." July tells him. "He can't be able to fight off all the Grimer at once!"
"Then Dragonair and I should be able to battle them then." Jovan said.
"Dragonair!" Dragonair nodded her head as she flew above her trainers head. She looks down and notice that Pikachu took two steps forward in front of Ash.
"You guys are our last chance." Ash said, looking down at Pikachu. "Give'em your Thunder Shock!"
"Pikachu!" Pikachu shouted, releasing a yellow lightning bolt at a Grimer.
"Grimer!" it yelled in pain.
"Attack, Dragonair!" Jovan ordered.
Dragonair lands in front of two Grimer and swung her tail against two Grimer.
"Grimer!" the two Grimer shouted as they were slammed into the wall.
But more kept coming. Dragonair backs away and flew above Jovan's head.
"There's too many of them!" Jovan snarled.
Muk appears behind the Grimer. "Muk!" Muk shouted.
The air vent above them opens up as several Pokémon floats down in between the trainers and the Grimer. The first Pokémon is a seemingly robotic life form that has a gray, spherical metal body with horseshoe magnets on each side and a single, large eye. It has three Phillips head screws on its body: two near the bottom of its body, and the other on top of its head and looks similar to an antenna. The two bottom screws can be seen under the metal ball.
The second Pokémon was the same as the first Pokémon but the second Pokémon was linked up like a triangle.
"Are these Pokémon as well?" Jovan wondered, taking out his Poké Dex.
"Magnemite, a Magnet Pokémon. Its means of floating through the air are not understood. This very mysterious Pokémon is of the Electric type."
"It's Magnemite and their evolved form, Magneton." Brock smiled. "They're friends of our stalker."
Seth gave him a confused look. The Magnemite and the Magneton bodies began to glow and shoot out bolts of electricity at the Grimer.
"Grimer!" all the Grimer shouted. All the Grimer turns around and fled as several Magnemite and Magneton exits the room.
The Grimer that was blocking the water got shocked by the Magneton and Magnemite electric attack. Water began flowing through the pipe once again. With the water flowing through the pipe, the generator started working again.
The lights turned on and everyone cheered.
"The lights are back!" July smiled.
"The turbines are moving again." the second employee said.
"The Grimer are all cleared away from the water intake vaulve!"
"All right!" Jovan cheered.
"We're not done yet!" Misty interrupted. "There's still one left." Standing in front of her was Muk.
"Muk!" it shouted.
"Pikachu, give it a Thunder Shock!" Ash ordered, looking down at Pikachu.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu shouted, releasing a yellow thunderbolt at Muk.
The attack hits but Muk wasn't going down easily.
"That's some pretty serious sludge." Ash growled.
The Magnemite from where Ash, Brock, Misty and Pikachu met floats over besides Pikachu. Magnemite's body becomes surrounded by bright yellow electricity and it releases multiple yellow bolts of lightning from its body at the Muk.
"Muk!" Muk shouted in pain as it was getting shock.
Pikachu and Magnemite worked together as they keep shocking Muk. After the attack, Muk stops moving.
"Alright." Ash said, taking out a Poké Ball. "Go Poké Ball!" He throws the Poké Ball at Muk and the sphere taps on Muk. Muk transforms into red energy and went inside the Poké Ball. The Poké Ball lands on the floor and shakes couple times. Then sphere stops shaking. Ash walks over to the Poké Ball and picks it up. "I did it!" Ash smiled. "I've captured a Muk! Ash Ketchum saves the day!"
Jovan smells a really bad odor coming from the Poké Ball. Everyone except Ash covered their nose.
"What's wrong?" Ash asked confused.
Several minutes later, they were all standing outside of the power plant.
"The smell comes through the Poké Ball." Ash groans, pinching his nose.
"Well that's the bad news for you." Anna said.
"But the good news is that Pikachu is better now." Seth smiled.
"When an electric rodent builds up too much electricity, its body becomes magnetize." the first employee explains. "And it seems that it has a cold."
Ash looks down at Pikachu and notices that the employee is right. Pikachu is all better now.
"Pikachu." Pikachu said happily.
The raven-haired trainer looks at Magnemite. "Well we all owe Magnemite thanks." Ash said.
Magenmite floats down besides Pikachu.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu thanked it. But Magnemite turns around and floats away from Pikachu. He began to follow Magenmtie back and forth.
"I thought Magnemite was obsessed with Pikachu a minute ago." Misty wondered.
"Do you think Magnemite fall in and out of love just like humans do?" Seth suggested.
The two employees look at each other. "Could Magnemite fallen in love at first sight with Pikachu's body magnetize?" the first employee asked.
"That must be the reason." the second employee said, looking at Pikachu and Magnemite. "Animals are attracted by scent so Magnemite are attracted by other Pokémon by their magnetic force because Pikachu built so much magnetic force so that was very attractive to that Magnemite."
"I get it." Brock said. "When Pikachu ran out of electricity, it no longer became magnetize and Magnemite isn't interested with Pikachu anymore."
"That's a good thing." Ash said, looking down at Pikachu. "Magnemite won't follow you around anymore, Pikachu."
"Chu!" Pikachu smiled.
Everyone started laughing. While everyone is distracted a Gyarados submarine emerges from the ocean. On top of the sub was a giant magnet.
"Now that Pikachu is magnetize, we can capture it with this super power magnet." Sam smiles evilly.
Sam, Libby and Justin was leaning against the wall as Jessie, James and Meowth was in their seats.
"Just capture Pikachu already!" Justin shouted.
Sam turns his head to the left to look at him. "Shut up." Sam growled.
Jessie pushes a red button and activated the magnet. She can hear something clanging to the magnet. But the entire submarine began to shake.
"What's going on? Libby wondered.
Outside of the sub was a lot of Magnemite and Magneton on top of the sub. The weight cause the submarine to sink down into the ocean.
"Team Rocket is splashing off again!"
Everyone standing outside in front of the Pokémon Center with Nurse Joy, Officer Jenny and the rest of the Pokémon.
"Those Grimer here just prove that the ocean's totally polluted." Misty explains. "You guys got to clean up the sea around here. I know you can do it."
"You're right, Misty." Officer Jenny said. "We'll do everything we can to ensure that the ocean is clean again."
"If you clean up the air and the water, you may bring this place back to life." Brock said, looking up at the clear blue sky.
"Thanks, Ash." Nurse Joy thanked Ash, taking a step forward. "You work so hard to make sure that these Pokémon survived, you've inspired me to become a better nurse."
"We salute your fine work." Officer Jenny smiled, giving them a salute.
"Please, ladies." Ash said in embarrassment. "That's really nice of you. Anyway, try to make your city clean."
"We will." Nurse Joy said. "And please come back to visit us."
The trainers turned around and walks away as Jenny and Joy waves goodbye.
Our heroes leave Gringey City with bigger smiles and bigger hopes. A future that is brighter and cleaner than before. Meanwhile...
Professor Ivo steps into the room as Ash sent his new Pokémon.
"It's been quite awhile since Ash sent me a new Pokémon." Professor Oak smiled. "I wonder what he captured this time."
The light died down as the Poké Ball appeared on the machine. The Poké Ball opens and Professor Oak and Ivo was met with a terrible smell.
"What is that smell?" Ivo wondered, covering his nose.
The light disappeared and Muk appeared before the two professors.
"What's the idea of sending us a Muk?!" Professor Oak groans.
"Muk!" Muk smiled.
