Showdown At Dark City
Dark City. This looks like the next stop for Ash, Misty, Brock, Jovan, July, Anna, Seth and Slade. Who knows what kind of chilling challenges await them here.
It's a dark cloudy day. Everyone entered the town. There wasn't a single person outside.
"This is one creepy town." Seth said. "There's no one out here in the middle of the day."
They saw a little boy running out of the house laughing.
"Get back inside the house right now!" the mother exclaims, rushing to her child. "What if there are Pokémon Trainers out?" She picks up her son and ran back inside, closing the door.
Everyone stops walking as they heard what the mother said.
"Why should she be afraid of Pokémon Trainers?" Misty wondered.
All of a sudden, three pebbles were thrown at Pikachu.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu exclaims, avoiding the pebbles.
"Hey!" Ash shouted, looking at the roof. "Go, Pikachu!"
Pikachu ran up to Ash's head and fired a Thunderbolt. The Thunderbolt hits three little boys, making them fall off the roof and landed on a pile of straw.
"They're little kids!" Brock exclaims.
Ash walks up and kneels in front of them. "I'm sorry." he apologized. "But you guys were throwing those rocks at us."
"Chu." Pikachu said.
"You guys are Pokémon Trainers, right?" the first boy asks him.
"Yeah." Ash answers with a smile, standing up. "My name's Ash. I want to become the world's greatest Pokémon Master."
"I'm Brock." Brock introduced himself. "And I want to become the world's greatest Pokémon Breeder."
"And I'm going to be the world's best everything." Misty added. "My name's Misty."
The three boys got up. The first boy smack all three of them on the head with a straw stick. He was about to hit Jovan, but Jovan grabs it.
"We don't care who you are." the boy said. "If you work with Pokémon then you have to get out of our town now." His two friends nodded.
"Why should we leave?" Jovan asks them. "What's wrong with Pokémon?"
"Stop it boys!" a man shouted, walking up to them. The man has short brown hair and black eyes. He was wearing a brown shirt, blue jeans, red shoes and a green apron. "I apologize." the man apologized. "These children doesn't mean to cause you any trouble. Come to my restaurant and I'll explain everything."
"Sure." Jovan said.
The owner gave everyone some food and drinks. Jovan was sitting across July as he was next to Anna as Seth sat between Slade and July.
"In Dark City there are two Pokémon Gyms, the Yas Gym and Kaz Gym." the owner explains. "The two Gyms are in the middle of a gang war and they'll hire any wandering Pokémon Trainers to be their soldiers to battle for them."
"So that's why there's no one out on the streets." Jovan said.
"But what's the point of fighting each other?" Seth asked.
"They claim whatever Gym wins will become an official Pokémon Gym." the owner said.
They heard a small crash and notice Pikachu was on Ash's head getting a bottle of ketchup. "That make sense." Ash said, trying to get up. "Becoming a Pokémon Gym is a big honor."
But then there was a big commotion out there.
"It's them." the first boy growled.
"What's going out there?" Misty wondered, looking behind her.
"The Yaz and Kas Gyms are fighting again." the owner answered. "If you don't to get involved, then head upstairs."
Outside two groups were running towards each other. The first group were all wearing purple jumps suits with a red scarf. There was a big red letter K on the jumpsuit. The leader has dark blue hair and black eyes.
"Today the Kas Gym is going to crush you!" Kas yelled.
The other group was matching orange uniforms and green aprons. But their leader Yaz was wearing a black shirt and black gloves. On their aprons was a yellow letter Y.
"Guess again!" Yaz shouted. "The Yaz Gym is going to wipe you out!"
"Go Electabuzz!" Kas shouted, throwing a Poké Ball and Electabuzz appeared. "Thunderbolt, go!"
Electabuzz releases powerful bolts of yellow lightning from its horns at the Yaz solidiers and several buildings.
"We can't let them win!" Yaz shouted, throwing a Poké Ball and Scyther appears. "Attack, Scyther!"
Jovan clench his fist as they watch from upstairs.
Brock turns around to look at the kids. "Is it always like this?" Brock asks the kids.
"Yeah."
"Now I understand why people hate Pokémon Trainers." Brock said, looking back at the window.
"This is more of a street fight than a Pokémon battle." Anna said.
Jovan growls. Everyone heard a crash from downstairs.
The owner was shaking as six Kaz members enter the restaurant.
"Hey cook, give us the lunch special for thirty people." the first member said.
"We have to be a the Kaz Gym in less than an hour." the second member said.
"Throw in an order of onion rings while you're at it." the third member said.
"I would like to, but the Kaz Gym hasn't pay its bill in two years." the owner explain.
Everyone watched in silent from upstairs.
"There's something familiar about them." Ash said.
"Are you telling us you can't put it on our tab?" the first member asked.
"Do you realize we're Kaz Gym bodyguards?" the second member asked. "Give us the food or else."
"I like to, but I can't." the owner said. "I don't want any trouble."
"You won't give us lunch, but you don't want trouble." the third member said.
"You're talking to the wrong customers if you don't want any trouble." the first body guard said.
"Just leave alone!" the owner pleaded. "I don't want any trouble!"
The first member stood next to the second member.
"I can't resist, Jessie."
"Neither can I."
Jessie and James remove their scarfs with Libby and Sam.
"Prepare for trouble!"
"And make it double!"
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all peoples within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Jessie!"
"James!"
"Go get them, Arbok!" Jessie shouted throwing a Pokéball and Arbork appeared.
"Weezing, attack!" Jame shouted throwing a Pokéballa and Weezing appeared.
Arbok and Weezing appeared and started to attack the owner. A mysterious person backs up against the wall.
"Team Rocket and Team Neo!" Jovan shouted, running down the stairs with his friends. "Stop them, Dragonair!"
"Nair!" Dragonair shouted, flying towards Team Rocket and Team Neo.
"Go, Eevee!" July shouted as Eevee ran besides Pikachu.
"Go, Vulpix!" Brock shouted, throwing a Poké Ball and Vulpix appeared.
"Vulpix?" Ash and Misty asked.
Vulpix releases a Flamethrower at Team Rocket and Team Neo. They were covered in black soot.
"We're medium well done." Sam said.
"AHH!" Team Rocket and Team Neo screamed as they ran out the door.
"Nice to see you leave!" Misty waved at them.
"And don't come back!" Jovan called.
The owner groans as he stood back up.
"Are you okay?" Seth asks him.
"Thank you for saving my restaurant." he thanked them.
"That was great!" a voice exclaims.
Everyone turns around and sees a girl standing in the doorway. She has long blue hair underneath her red and pink hat as her brown eyes look at them. But she was also wearing a light green shirt underneath her Yaz uniform. "I saw everything that happened." she smiled.
"Excuse me, is there something we can help you with, miss?" Brock asks her.
"Those were the strongest bodyguards from the Kaz Gym." the girl said. "How did you overpower them so easily? You must be a very gifted, very powerful Pokémon Trainer. Please, you must tell me your names."
Jovan felt his shoulder tap by Anna, who leans in and whisper in his ear. "We can't get involved in this." Anna whispered. "There's already too much to deal with that happened in the past few months. Try to make up a name."
Jovan nodded his head and looks back at the girl after she received the trio's fake names.
"My name is Harry Potter." Jovan said.
"I'm Hermione Granger." Anna said.
"Ron Weasley." Seth said.
"And I'm Ginny Weasly." July said.
"The name is Remus Lupin." Slade said.
"Would you all consider joining our cause at the Yaz Gym?" she asks them. "Unlike those animals from the Kaz Gym, we at the Yaz Gym are truly worthy of becoming a Pokémon Gym."
"Hermionie?" Jovan asks Anna.
"We can't, isn't that right, Caser?" Anna asks Brock.
"We'll do anything we can to help." Brock answered, blushing.
All the trainers groaned as they hit the floor.
"Brock can't say no to a pretty girl." Misty groaned.
"Shall we get going?" the girl asks them.
"Why don't the four of you go without us?" Slade asks them.
Their friends nodded and followed her.
"How come we're not going with them?" Jovan asks him.
"We're going to the Kaz Gym." Slade answered. "We need to know why is so important to make the Kaz a Pokémon Gym. We're not joining them and if they don't like our answer and attack us, we'll fight back in defense. Plus, it'll be good training when we face that armored creature again."
"Then we should get going." Anna said.
"By the way, why did you choose those names from Harry Potter?" July asks Jovan.
"They were the only names I have to come up quickly." Jovan answered.
"But you could've come up with other names like Mark and Bob for example." Anna said.
"You're the one who told me to give her fake names." Jovan growls at Anna.
"You know we can't say anything about all of us come from a different word or anything related." Anna said angrily at him.
"Ok, calm down you two." Seth said. "Look, you both have good points. But all of us should be careful of what we say."
"You should get going." Slade said. "I'll stay here with the owner and the kids." His friends nodded and left.
The Pokémon Trainers found the Kaz Gym. The bodyguards stares at them as they cross the room. July didn't move an inch from her brother's side. Seth was watching the bodyguards, making sure they don't make a move first. Kaz stood before them with his arms cross as Electabuzz was leaning against the wall.
"Who are you?" Kaz asks them.
"My name is Harry Potter." Jovan said.
"I'm Hermione Granger." Anna said.
"Ron Weasley." Seth said.
"And I'm Ginny Weasly." July said.
"I'm Kaz." Kaz introduce himself. "I hear you defeated my strongest bodyguards. I want you to join me to crush those Yaz Gym losers."
"I want to ask you a question first." Jovan said.
"Go ahead."
"Why are you are guys trying to make an official Pokémon Gym?" Jovan asks him.
"It's a faster way to make money for being an official Pokémon Gym ." Kaz answered.
"I see." Jovan said. "I'm sorry to disappoint you, but we're not joining you."
"What?"
"Pokémon are not tools for fighting or a way of making money." Jovan answered. "I will never help those who uses Pokémon as tools and a way to make money. You're on your own."
"If you won't help me, then I'll make sure you won't help anyone else!" Kaz growls. "Attack them!"
Jovan transforms into Dragonite, Anna transforms into Ninetails, July transforms into Scyther and Seth transforms into Nidoking. The Kaz Gym trainers was shocked to see four trainers transformed, but they sent out their Pokémon to attack them. July used Quick Attack and Slash to catch a Grimer and a Zubat off guard. Seth used Bubblebeam and Anna used Swift on a Raticate and a Geodue while Dragonair used Bubblebeam and Jovan used Dragon Rage at them, making the body guards to get out of the way.
But Electabuzz used Thunder Punch at Jovan's chest. Jovan hits the wall and slid to the floor. Before Electabuzz can attack again, the doors to the front was punch across the room, hitting Electabuzz.
"What the heck?!" Kaz shouted.
Standing in the doorway was a humanoid Pokémon with four well-muscled arms. It has bluish-gray skin, red eyes, and pale yellow lips. On its head, there are three brown ridges right above its eyes. It has two arms on each side of its body: a pair located in the normal position, and another pair directly above that attaches on the top of the shoulders. It has black markings that resemble briefs and wears a golden power-save belt that resembles a championship belt. Its legs have considerable muscle tone, and its feet have two toes each.
"Machamp." Machamp said.
Standing besides Machamp was the mysterious hooded figure.
"Get them!" Kaz ordered Electabuzz.
Electabuzz charges them with a Thunder Punch.
"Machamp, Counter!"
Machamp caught the punch with its hand before delivering a Karate Chop to Electabuzz's arm and threw it against the wall.
"Come on!" the hooded figure shouted.
All of them escaped the body guards.
"That Yas Gym plays rough." Brock said, tending to Ash's bruises.
"I get the feeling Kaz does the same thing." Misty said.
Slade heard some footsteps from the stairs and sees his friends.
"They do." Anna said as she, July and Jovan sits on the floor with Dragonair while Seth leans against the wall, panting.
"They keep getting stronger Pokémon that keeps wreaking our town with their fights." the first boy said.
"All of these people will be scared of trainers if this keeps up." Brock said.
"But how did you guys get away from the Kaz Gym?" Misty asks July.
"The mysterious hooded figure showed up with Machamp." July answered.
"Machamp defeated them all as we escaped." Anna said. "Then those two disappeared."
"So how did you guys get away from the Yas Gym?" Jovan asks them.
"The ketchup!" Ash exclaims, remembering the ketchup that Scyther sliced. He takes out his Poké Dex.
"Scyther and Electabuzz are both rare Pokémon. They are able to distinguish colors and become enraged by the color red."
"Just like ketchup." Seth said.
"Sycther is the Yaz Gym strongest Pokémon and Electabuzz is the Kaz Gym strongest Pokémon." the first boy said.
Ash looks back at his Poké Dex. "If we work together, we can beat them." Ash said with a smile.
Ash and Pikachu was setting up the last antenna as Brock pounding nails into the wood. Misty was making sure the antenna is in tightly. Jovan and July was filling barrels with ketchup as Seth and Anna were bringing the barrels onto the roof. Jovan looks up and sees Slade and Dragonair flying towards them and landed.
"They're on their way." Slade said as he got off of Dragonair.
"Just in time." Jovan said. "Let's get into place."
Everyone hid in their places as Kaz and Yaz walks into the middle of town and stops, looking at each other and talk. Jovan was hiding on the roof with July, Seth, Anna and Slade.
"Remember the plan." Jovan told them.
Then the battle began. Team Rocket and Team Neo was climbing a building until Scyther slices the building in half.
"When do we get our turn?!' Libby shouted.
Scyther and Electabuzz were in locked stances. The Yaz and Kaz Gym Pokemon fought as well. As both teams were distracted, Ash looks over his shoulder and shouted, "It's time!"
Everyone pushed the barrels over the roof and onto the ramp.
"It's on like Donkey Kong!" Jovan yelled.
The barrels stops at the bottom of the ramp and covers released the ketchup onto Kaz. Yaz stops giving orders and looks confused. He looks up and sees the ketchup falling. Both trainers were covered in ketchup.
"What's happening?" Justin wondered.
He was answered by ketchup, covering himself, his teammates and covers of the barrels.
Electabuzz turns around to look at it trainer. "Buzz!" it shouted angrily.
Scyther did the same thing. "Scyther!" it shouted.
"What are you doing, Scyther?!" Yaz shouted. "Destroy that Electabuzz!"
Both Pokemon ignored their trainers orders and begun to attack.
"AHHH!" Yaz shouted, quickly dodging backwards as his gym suit was cut.
"AHH!" Kaz shouted, getting shocked.
"Stop it!" Yaz pleaded, as he was running away. "I'm your trainer, Scyther!"
"You shouldn't even be a trainer after what you made them do!" Jovan shouted from the roof.
Yaz bumps into Kaz, stopping Electabuzz's attack. Both trainer ran from their Pokémon, pleading the trainers to save them.
"They've learned their lesson." Seth smiled.
"Go, Bulbasaur!" As shouted, throwing a Poké Ball and Bulbasaur appeared.
"Bulb, come on out!" Jovan shouted, throwing a Poké Ball and Bulb appeared.
Bulbasaur and Bulb used their vines to pick up two buckets of ketchup and threw the ketchup on Electabuzz and Scyther. Scyther and Electabuzz stops in their tracks and they got covered in ketchup. Both Pokémon opens their eyes and look each other, seeing they were both covered in red. Scyther and Electabuzz didn't say anything as they looked into each other's eyes. Silence took place.
"Scyther!" Scyther shouted as they both charge at each other, smacking into their faces.
"Gr!" Kaz and Yaz grunted.
Jovan chuckled.
Both Pokémon grunted and fell knocked out.
"Scyther!" Yaz shouted.
"Electabuzz!" Kaz shouted.
"I hope you're done street fighting after this." Jovan smiled.
"Bulbasaur." Bulbasaur said.
Yaz and Kaz looks at each other.
"Shall we join together then?" Yaz asks him.
They both look up the trainers, angrily.
"Until we've destroyed those meddling kids!" Kaz shouted angrily.
The trainers gasps.
"Destroy those kids on the roof now!" Kaz and Yaz shouted together.
The bodyguards from both gyms began to attack.
"Time for them to learn the hard way then." Ash said. "Pikachu!"
"Pikachu!" Pikachu jumps into the air.
Before Ash can order Pikachu, Jovan felt his body changing. A lighting bolt shaped tail sprouted. His body shrunk as he grew yellow fur and two red circles while his ears grew long and pointy.
"Pika Pi!" Jovan shouted in suprised, looking at himself.
"Jovan transformed into a Pikachu!" July exclaims.
"Use Thunder!" Ash ordered Pikachu.
"Pika!" Pikachu shouted.
Pikachu fires the electricity in the sky, creating an electric cloud that fires several bolts at the antennas.
"Pikachu!" Jovan jumps in the air and shouted, releases a powerful bolt of yellow electricity from his body at the antennas too as Dragonair did the same.
The electricity hits the antennas, making an electric current in the wires, shocking the bodyguards along with Kaz and Yaz.
"AAHH!" Both men screaming.
They landed on one another as Ash and his friends walks up to them.
"Let's get along and be friends." July smiled.
"Be friends?" both men growled, picking up a couple of sticks.
"We'll show you." Yas said to them.
"We suggest you run." Kaz growls.
Before anything can happen, a person wearing a brown coat, a black hat, sunshades and a cloth over the mask step in between them. "Not so fast." the person said.
"Huh?" they all asked confused.
"What?" Yas asked confused.
"And who are you?" Kaz ask the person.
The person takes out a Poké Ball. There was two light red wings with a yellow P on the top and a small pouch on the bottom of the sphere. "I'm the inspector from the official Pokémon League." the person announced.
"AAHH!" Both men scream in shocked and surprised.
"Poké Ball, go." the person said, throwing the Poké Ball.
The Poké Ball opens, releasing a white light. The light landed and disappeared, revealing Chansey.
"Chansey." Chansey said. "Chansey."
Yaz and Kaz groans at the sight of Chansey.
"Chansey?" Brock asks confused. "Then that must mean..."
"That's right." the person said. The person took off her disguise. "My true identity is Nurse Joy." She places her hands on her hips. "I could never allow people use Pokémon for nothing but street fighting to open an official Pokémon Gym."
"Please, Nurse Joy." Yaz pleaded.
"Can you give us another chance?" Kaz begs.
"Only if you're willing to start over from the beginning." she smiled.
"OF course we are." Yaz said.
"Just tell us what we should do, Nurse Joy." Kaz said.
"There's someone here who can do that better than I can." Nurse Joy looks over at Ash and his friends.
"Who?" Ash asked confused. "Me?"
Several minutes later, Yaz and Kaz got the ketchup off and were on the ground kneeling with their heads to the ground as Ash and Pikachu was sitting on a couple of logs. Jovan, July and Anna were sitting on the ground with Dragonair as Seth and Slade were standing next to Brock and Misty.
"You see, Pokémon are really our friends, so you have to be kind to them." Ash said as he was trying to explain.
"And what about Pokémon battles?" Kaz asks, looking up at him.
"Of course, you fight them as hard as you can, with all your strength, trying to win." Ash said.
"With all your strength?" Yaz asked confused, looking up as well. "Isn't that the same as fighting?"
"No, no." Ash said, shaking his head. "Not at all. "Sure you try to win, but you don't try to beat each other."
Both men look confused.
"Looks like Ash doesn't know about himself." Seth smiled.
"True." Slade agreed.
"Now first, you'll have to fix everything you broke in this town." Ash said to the two men.
"At once, Tom Ayto." both men said, bowing their heads.
"Huh?" Ash asked confused. "Oh, I should've pick a better name."
Jovan chuckled as he got up with July and Anna. "He could've said his name is Dave." Jovan said to Anna.
Everyone smiled as the Yaz and Kaz gyms work together to fix the town.
"Looks like they all have a change of heart and decided to become true Pokémon Trainers." Brock smiled.
"Thanks" the three boys said to them.
"You did it!" the first boy said to Ash and Jovan.
"No, we didn't do it all by ourselves." Ash to the kids. "We all did it together."
"We were wrong about Pokémon Trainers being bad guys." the first boy said. He looks at his two friends. "Now we all want to become Pokémon Trainers someday."
"We think Pokémon are the coolest." the second boy said.
"Just like you." the third boy said.
"Oh, I'm not." Ash smiled, scratching his head. "It was nothing."
The three boys takes out some papers and runs up to Pikachu, Jovan and Dragonair.
"Can we have your autographs Pikachu, Jovan and Dragonair?" the three boys asked.
"Ahh!" Ash groans, falling backwards on the ground.
"Pi?" Pikachu asked. "Pikachu?"
"Oh well." Ash said. "Pikachu, Jovan and Dragonair really is the star."
After the kids got their autographs, the kids waved goodbye to Jovan and his friends at the hill.
"Goodbye now!"
"We'll miss you!"
"Thanks for helping us!"
Now that Dark City is a lot brighter, thanks to our heroes."
"Those kids really appreciate me." Ash said.
"We'll miss you!" the three boys called. "Pikachu, Jovan and Dragonair!"
Ash fell on the ground as Seth, Slade, Misty, July, Anna, Jovan, Pikachu and Dragonair looks at him.
After saving the town, and making some new Pokémon fans, our heroes are moving on to their next adventure.
Back in Dark City, Team Rocket and Team Neo stands up from the wreckage, still covered in ketchup.
"That could've gone better." Libby said.
"Looks like we're through." James said.
"What's that?" Justin wondered, looking pass Sam. "We're not through yet."
His team looks in the same direction he was looking at and notice Scyther and Electabuzz coming towards them.
"Scyther!" Scyther yelled.
"AAHHH!" Team Rocket and Team Neo screamed.
Scyther and Electabuzz was close to them and was about to attack.
"Somebody!" James cried out as they try to run.
"Help us!" Team Rocket and Team Neo screamed.
