Who Gets To Keep Togepi?
Ash and his friends are in for a surprise at this small town Pokémon Center.
It's beautiful day today. Ash, Jovan, July, Anna, Seth, Dragonair and Eevee were standing in front of Nurse Joy as Misty, Brock and Slade stands behind them.
"Is your name Ash, Jovan, July, Seth and Anna?" Nurse Joy asks them.
"Yeah." Ash answered.
Joy picks up a message. "I have a message for you." Joy said. She hands letter over to Ash.
"For us?" Jovan wondered as Ash opens the letter.
"Greetings everyone. It's Professor Oak and Professor Ivo. Give us a call when you get a chance."
"It's from Professor Oak and Professor Ivo." Ash said.
"I guess it's been awhile since you talked to them, guys." Misty said. "Why don't you give him a buzz?"
They all went to the video phone.
"Okay, let's see." Ash muttered, punching in Professor Oak's number. "Professor. I hope they're around."
The phone rang and Professor Oak and Professor Ivo appeared on the screen.
"Hi, Professor Oak and Professor Ivo." Ash smiled. "It's us!"
"Hello there, everyone!" Professor Oak greeted him. "I suppose my message finally found its way to you!"
"Yeah." Ash said.
"How is everyone?" Professor Oak asks him. He notices Pikachu and Dragonair. "Say... Pikachu and Dragonair sure is looking well.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu exclaims happily.
"Nair." Dragonair said happily.
"We're fine too." Anna said.
"That's good to hear." Ivo smiled. "Well, they say no news is good news, but we do wish you'd let us know how things are going now and then."
"I know." Ash said. "We've been kind of busy. Uh..."
Ivo quickly backed away as Muk was trying to get the professor's attention.
"Hang on." Professor Oak said to Muk. "Cut that out."
Ash chuckles. "My Muk seems to be doing okay."
Muk was already on the professor.
"Taking care of it hasn't been easy!" Professor Oak complains. "Will you behave, Muk?"
"Professor Oak and I are hoping the next Pokémon you send will be easier to manage." Ivo said to Ash.
"I hope so too, Professor, but I haven't caught any new ones." Ash said.
Professor Ivo clears his throat at that statement.
"Well, make sure the next ones aren't so mucky!" Professor Oak shouted.
"Muk." Muk said as it covered the professor.
He quickly got out of Muk's grasp. "We almost forgot." Professor Oak said. "Have you heard about the new Pokédex upgrade?"
"Pokédex upgrade?" Ash repeated.
"We haven't heard about that." Jovan said.
"Well, now you can get details on all the latest Pokémon discoveries." Professor Oak said.
"Awesome!" Jovan smiled. "How do we get it?"
"Just put all your Pokédexs into that slot and Professor Ivo and I will do it." Professor Oak said, pointing at the bottom screen.
The slot opens up from the bottom of the screen.
"After it gets upgraded, you will have an updated database and even a new voice for your Pokédex." Professor Ivo said.
"All right!" Ash smiled. "I'm putting mine in right now!" He takes out his Pokédex and puts it into the slot.
The computer beeps for a few seconds.
"It's all set." Professor Ivo said.
"Gee, thanks." Ash thanks them as he takes his Pokédex back.
Slade looks at his friends. "Who's next?" Slade asked.
Jovan, July, Anna and Seth got their Pokédex upgraded.
"Ok." Professor Oak said. "There's no time to lose. Go catch some new Pokémon and collect badges too."
After they put away their Pokédex, Jovan looks at the screen. "We're on our way." Jovan said to the two professors.
The trainers found a nice restaurant. Ash, Misty and July were sitting across from Brock, Pikachu and Anna. Pikachu was standing in Jovan's lap. Seth and Slade were sitting at a table behind them with Dragonair. Jovan and Brock were cleaning the egg and the stone. On the table was a map of the Kanto Region.
"Where to next?" Ash wondered, looking at the map.
"We could head to Cinnabar Island and the Cinnabar Gym." Misty suggested.
"The Cinnabar Gym." Ash said, looking at the map. He looks up to see Jovan and Brock rubbing the egg. "So you two, when do you think those eggs are going to hatch?" Ash asks them.
"Who knows." Brock said.
Flashback
"Hey, I almost forgot." Ash said. He puts his backpack down and opens it, taking out an egg. "I found this when I woke up."
"Whoa!" Brock gasps. "Are you sure it's alright for you to take that?"
"What do you mean?" Ash asked confused. "You think I should've left it with Joy?"
Brock walks up to him and snatches the egg from Ash's hands. "Alright, Ash." Brock smiled. "I'll take care of the egg for you."
"But I could raise it myself." Ash said.
Misty walks behind them. "You would've dropped it anyway." Misty teased.
"I would not." Ash said.
Brock and Misty started running away as Ash runs after them with Pikachu.
"Don't worry, Ash!" Brock called. "I'll take good care of the egg!"
"Hey, wait up!" Ash shouted. "Finders keepers!"
Everyone laughed as their Ash chased Brock and Misty.
"Oh yeah." Jovan said as he remember what he found. Jovan unzip the backpack and revealed the egg and the stone.
July and everyone gasps.
"I found these two before you found me." Jovan said.
"Is that an egg?" Slade wondered, looking at the egg.
"Looks like one." Seth said, taking a closer look at it. He places his hand on the egg then the stone. "And the stone is smooth. But cool too."
"I've never seen an egg like this before." Anna said.
"When we get to the Pokémon Center, we should contact Professor Oak and Professor Ivo." Seth said to Jovan. "I'm sure they want to take a look at the egg and the stone."
"Well now that you found an egg, Jovan, you and Anna are going to be its parents." July teased.
"I agree." Seth smiled.
"I'm so glad that you two are married and ready to raise a child." July said with a sly smile.
"July!" Jovan and Anna shouted with their faces blushing.
"Brock and I have been keeping these two eggs nice and warm every time we go to sleep." Jovan explains.
"You sleep with that egg every night?" Misty asks them in shocked.
"Yes." Jovan answered. "It's the only way to keep them warm so it will hatch."
"So what kind of Pokémon is going to hatch from the eggs?" Ash asks his two friends.
"To tell you the truth, Ash, I don't know." Brock answered.
"You mean it might even turn out to be a Tentacruel?" Misty asks him happily.
"It could be." Brock said.
"Oh." Misty sighs. "I'd just love a Tentacruel!"
"Oh!" Ash gasps in shock as he looks back at the egg. "But it could it even be an Aerodactyl?"
"It might be." Brock said.
They all remember the Aerodactyl they encountered in Grandpd Cannon.
"Maybe it won't be." Ash said, crossing his arms.
"I'd like it o be a Golem." Brock smiled.
"Oh, imagine if was a lovely Lapras." Misty smiled.
"I can't wait to see what kind of Pokémon hatches, no matter what it is." Ash said.
Jovan was listening to the conversation as he was cleaning his egg. He wondered what kind of Pokémon will hatch from the egg. As they were talking, Jessie and James were listening to the conversation. The two of them went to the locker room where Meowth was waiting. He was standing on the table as James sat down to next to him.
"Did you hear that?" Meowth asks them. "They're hatching a new Pokémon."
"I think he said Dragonair." James said.
"No, no." Jessie said. "He said an Aerodactyl!"
"Whatever it is, we gotta get our hands on those eggs." Meowth said. "This could be the chance we been waiting for."
"Just imagine when the bosses hears we've captured a Pokémon!" Libby smiled.
"He'll be shocked." Meowth said.
"Let's not forget." James said to his friends. "We haven't even succeeded in capturing that one little Pikachu from those kids! We have a proud tradition of failure to uphold!"
"Then you fail!" Jessie shouted angrily, smacking him with a red mallet.
"And we'll win!" Meowth smiled.
Jessie begins to whisper the plan in Meowth's ear as James wanted to know.
After having lunch, everyone left he restaurant.
"How far to Cinnabar Island, Brock?" Slade asks Brock.
"Hm." Brock said, looking at the map. "It looks pretty far."
They all heard some footsteps and notices two people wearing old maid clothes.
"Hello, everybody!" the two people greeted. "Good day!" The two people started kicking their legs in the air.
"I don't believe my eyes." Ash said, looking at what he's seeing.
"We kick up our legs so you will buy our eggs!" the two people exclaims with glee, showing a couple baskets of eggs.
Anna picks up one of the eggs. "What kind of Pokémon will hatch out of these eggs?" Anna asks them.
"You just have to wait and find out when they hatch." the first maid said with a smile.
"I don't think we any Pokémon eggs 'cause we already have two of our own." Jovan said.
"That's right." Seth agreed.
The two maids walks over to the boys.
"Let me see it!" the second maid smiled, going neat Brock's face. "Show me!"
"Okay, okay." Brock said as he felt uneasy. He takes the egg out of under shirt as Jovan takes his egg out from his backpack. "Here. Like it?"
"Oh!" the first maid gasps as she looks at it. "It's pretty! Lovely!"
"Beautiful!"
The two maids leans in and threw their eggs at them.
They all yelled as they covered their faces. Then everyone notices the eggs were on the ground.
"Which one is ours?" Brock wondered, looking for their eggs on the ground.
"They're not egg sellers!" Jovan shouted.
The two egg sellers laughed and revealed their true identity.
"Prepare for trouble!"
"Yes and make it double!"
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all people within our nation!"
"To denounce the evil of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Jessie!"
"James!"
"Is that it?"
"Huh?" James asked confused.
Jovan and his friends was looking through the pile to find their two eggs.
"Let's see." Ash said.
"Hey, you didn't let us finished." Jessie said annoyed.
"That's right." James agreed. "We didn't even get to the best part."
Anna picks up an egg with blue and green circles. "This must be the one." Anna smiled. But egg hatched and revealed a note with a sad face on it.
"I found one of them." Jovan said, picking up an egg. The egg hatch with green slime.
"Ha ha." Meowth laughed, standing between his teammates as they looks up at Meowth. "Looking for these two?" He was holding the two eggs.
"Meowth has our egg!" Seth exclaims.
"It was..." Jessie began.
"Your egg." James finished.
The trio quickly turn and ran away.
"Get back here, you thieves!" Jovan shouted at them.
Team Rocket made it to their cabin where Team Neo was waiting for them. Meowth places the two eggs on the table with two pillows.
"Seems to me the plan worked." Justin smiled as they were sitting around the table.
"That's because I make such a cute eggs sale girl." Jessie said sweetly.
"Yeah, maybe." Meowth said, feeling a little weird from Jessie's comment.
"So, should we cook it over easy?" James asked, holding a frying pan and a spatula. "Or maybe can scramble it."
"How about fried rice?" Sam suggested. He was answered by Justin's plate, hitting him in the face. Sam and James lay on the floor.
"You two are not going to eat them." Meowth said.
"Meowth and I will be hatching them." Justin replied.
"But how will you two do that?" Libby asks him.
"Meowth is going to warm it with his body." Justin answered. "And I'm going to do the same thing."
Later on that night, they were all eating bowls of rice around the table. Meowth and Justin had their eggs on their laps while eating their dinner.
"Aren't you going to put down the egg?" Sam asks Justin.
"No." Justin shakes his head. "I'm not going to let it get cold."
After dinner, Justin took his bath with the egg first before Meowth and his egg. He begins to dry the egg off with a towel.
"So you're going to dry it and heat it up again?" Sam asks him.
Justin slaps him on the head with a wooden bucket. "I said I was going to hatch it!" Justin shouted angrily.
Libby turns off the light and walks over to her sleeping bag next to Sam.
"I never knew that he's very protective of the egg." Sam said.
The next morning, Ash and his friends were following the trail of fake eggs.
"There's another one." Anna smiled as Misty runs over and picks up a fake egg. Jovan, Ash and Anna stops next to Misty. "If we keep following these eggs, we'll find Team Rocket and Team Neo."
"They're pretty dumb just to leave trail for us." Jovan said.
Brock, Seth and Slade stops besides them.
"If they're so dumb, then why do they have the eggs?" Brock asks him.
"I see your point." Jovan said.
Pikachu ran on ahead and stops at a blue and red egg. "Pika!" Pikachu smiled. "Pikachu!"
Everyone walks up behind Pikachu and looks down. At the bottom of the hill was the cabin.
"Looks like they're in there." Seth said.
They walk down the hill. Ash, Brock, Misty and Pikachu looks through the window as Jovan, July, Seth, Slade, Dragonair and Eevee were up against the wall on Ash's right side. Jessie and Libby were enjoying their breakfast while Sam and James were cooking their breakfast. Meowth and Justin were cleaning their eggs with a rag.
As Sam was done putting butter on the toast, he heard a whacking sound and a yell from James. He turns around and sees James knocked out on the floor with Meowth holding a frying pan. He walks over to Justin and puts Justin's and his plate on the table.
"There's no eggs on your plate, Justin." Sam said. "Just buttered toast."
"Thanks." Justin thanked him.
Ash and his friends looks at each other.
"That's definitely the two eggs." Brock said.
"Let's do this." Jovan smiled. He takes out a Poké Ball and throws it in the air. "Go, Pidgeotto!" The Poké Ball opened and Pidgeotto appeared with Ash's Pidgeotto.
"Go, Geodude!" Brock shouted, throwing a Poké Ball and Geodude appeared.
"Geodude!" Geodude shouted.
"Staryu, I choose you!" Misty shouted as she was about to throw a Poké Ball, Psyduck appeared from its Poké Ball in her backpack. "No, not you!" She shouted angrily, returning Psysuck back to the Poké Ball.
All the Pokémon crashes through the window, catching Team Rocket and Team Neo off guard.
"Huh?!" Libby yelled.
"What's happening?!" Sam shouted. He was hit in the face with plates of food by Geodude.
Some coffee spills on Libby's lap by Staryu and the two Pidgeotto grabs the two eggs from Meowth and Justin.
"My egg!" Justin exclaims. He turns around to see Jovan and Ash standing in the room as the two Pidgeotto delivered the two eggs back.
"You did a good job, Pidgeotto." Jovan said to him.
Justin and Meowth faced them.
"Give those two eggs back to us!" Justin shouted angrily.
"That's funny." Ash smiles with sarcasm. "And all along I thought this was out eggs."
"Go get them and our two eggs!" Meowth shouted.
"Go, Arbok!" Jessie shouted, throwing a Poké Ball.
"Go, Weezing!" James shouted, throwing a Poké Ball .
"Go, Kakuna!" Libby shouted, throwing a Poké Ball.
"Go, Fearrow!" Sam yelled, throwing a Poké Ball.
"Go, Pidgeotto!" Justin shouted, throwing a Pokémon.
Team Rocket and Team Neo's Pokémon appeared.
"Weezing!"
"Arbok!"
Weezing fired thick green fog at them.
"Be careful with those two eggs!" Slade called to Jovan.
"Right." Jovan nodded. He saw Fearow flying towards him and ducks to the ground. Jovan looks up to see Meowth smiling. Meowth scratches Jovan's face. "Yeow!" he yelled in pain.
"Oh no!" Seth shouted.
Meowth picks up the egg and tosses it to Justin.
"Go, Raticate!" Seth shouted, throwing a Poké Ball and Raticate appeared. "Use Quick Attack!"
"Rat!" Raticate shouted, quickly tackling Justin's Pidgeotto into Justin.
Justin was forced to throw the egg in the air after getting hit.
"I got it!" Anna shouted.
"Not this time!" Libby yelled as she caught the egg by jumping in front of Anna.
"Let's go, Vul!" Anna shouted, throwing a Poké Ball and Vul appeared. "Body Slam!"
"Vulpix!" she shouted, throwing her entire body on Libby.
"Gah!" Libby grunted as the egg was tossed in the air.
Jovan caught the egg but Fearow slams into him, forcing the egg to fly again. The egg lands in Sam's arms but was thrown again after he got hit by Raticate. Seth caught the egg but was tackled by Justin as he got the egg.
"Jovan, we can't see a thing!" Libby shouted.
"Pidgeotto, use Gust to blow this gas away!" Jovan shouted.
"Geot!" Pidgeotto shouted, flapping his wings rapidly to clear the gas.
The gas began to disappear. Meowth and Justin was caught in the crossfire, forcing them to let go of the two eggs into the air.
"AH!" Everyone gasps.
"Somebody save those two eggs, hurry!" Anna shouted.
Jovan and Ash ran to catch the falling eggs. They both dove to catch the two eggs, but missed. Misty and Anna covered their eyes as everyone else gasps in more shocked. The two boys landed on the floor.
"We missed it!" Jovan exclaims as he got on all fours and looks over his left shoulder. But to his surprised, July was behind him on her knees with Eevee on her head. Eevee caught the egg on her head as Dragonair has her tail wrapped around the egg. Pikachu caught the other egg as well.
"Hey!" Jovan chuckled, turning around.
Team Rocket and Team Neo sighed as the others walks up to the two boys.
"Nice catch, you four." Anna smiled.
July and Pikachu hands the two eggs back to Ash and Jovan.
"Good thing you caught them." July said, petting Eevee's head.
"Huh?" Ash asked confused.
"What's wrong, Ash?" Brock asks him, looking at Ash.
"It feels like something is moving inside." Ash answered, looking at the egg.
Everyone stared as the egg was giving out a light ray. Then the egg began to crack.
"It's starting to crack!" Ash smiled.
"Yeah." Brock smiled. "It's about to hatch."
"Pika." Pikachu gasps.
"Hey, let me see." Misty said, pushing the two boy aside and catching the egg.
The egg hatched. Two stubby, rounded cone arms and round feet with two toes each appeared. The head has five round-tipped, conical spikes that seem to form a crown. It also has semi-oval, brown pads on the soles of its feet. The Pokémon open its eyes.
"Pi!" it yawned. "Toge?"
It has thin, black, oval eyes with thin, black arcs on their outer sides.
"Aw!" Misty cooed, lifting the newborn a little high in the air. "it hatched! It hatched! How cute!"
"Toge?" it asked.
"Hello to you too." Misty smiled.
"Pi!" the newborn Pokémon exclaims with a trill. "Toge Toge!"
"We're so lucky!" Misty smiled.
"Awesome!" Jovan exclaims.
Team Rocket and Team Neo walks up behind Ash and kneels down to get a better look.
"If Pikachu hadn't caught it-" Jessie was saying.
"And that precious little Pokémon-" James was saying.
Jessie and James stops themselves and look at the others. Both groups back away from each other.
"This battle is not finished!" Libby growled.
"I almost forgot." James said.
"Get them!" Justin shouted.
"Pikachu, Thunderbolt attack!" Ash ordered.
"Dragonair, Thunderbolt!" Jovan commanded.
"Use Swift!" July ordered.
"Vul, Ember!" Anna commanded.
All four Pokémon attacked Team Rocket and Team Neo with their Pokémon. Both teams yelled and fell to the floor.
"Let's get out of here!" Jovan told his friends.
Everyone runs by Team Rocket and Team Neo. Justin slowly picks himself up from the floor.
After everyone got away, they found a bench near a lake. Misty had the new Pokémon in her lap with Pikachu sitting next to her. Jovan was also sitting next to her with his egg. Ash and Brock was standing behind the bench as July was sitting in front of her brother and Anna sitting next to him on the ground with Dragonair, Eevee and Vul. Seth and Slade stood on the other side of the bench.
"Heh." Anna chuckled as she watches Misty play peek-a-boo with the new born.
"Pi." it smiled. "Toge Toge."
"It's cute." Misty smiled.
"It sure is, Misty." Ash said.
"What kind of Pokémon is it?" Slade wondered.
"Good question." Brock said.
"Let's check it out in the Poké Dex." Jovan suggested. "They should have the answer since the upgrade."
Everyone takes out their Poké Dex.
"Togepi, an Egg Pokémon. Specific information about this Pokémon is still unavailable."
After looking at the Poké Dex, Misty looks back at Togepi. "So, Togepi's your name." Misty said to it. "You even sound cute."
"Pika." Pikachu smiled, waving his paw at it.
"You think so too, Pikachu?" Anna asks him.
"Pikachu" He answered.
"That's because it's a newborn." Jovan said.
"That's right." Brock smiled. He picks up Togepi and made a funny face. Togepi just stared at him.
"So which one of us gets to keep Togepi?" Ash asked.
"I think I should." Brock answered, looking at Ash. "I'm the one who incubated the egg."
"But I was the one who found it in the first place." Ash argued, pointing a finger. "I just let you watch it for a while."
"I mothered it!" Brock snaps at him.
Misty stands up and turns around. "Well." She said, taking Togepi back. "I think I should keep Togei because it likes me best, right Togepi?"
"Pi." Togepi smiled.
"It's obvious." Misty said. "Togepi has made the right choice."
"No fair." Ash said. "I found it so it's mine."
"Well, maybe you should've taken better care of it." Misy said, looking at Ash.
"But you never took care of it." Ash argued.
"That's right." Brock said. "I took care of it."
"Don't make me laugh." Justin said, walking up to them with Meowth. They all look at them. "Meowth and I took better care of the two eggs than all of you combined."
"It's true." Sam said to Jovan. Jovan looks over his shoulder. "You saw how much those two care for the two eggs. They were together when they ate, slept together and shared a bath together."
Libby said nothing as she felt a tear running down her cheek.
"Were you always this sensitive?" Jovan asks them.
"Save your pity." Justin said. "All Meowth and I want is Togepi and the egg."
Jessie, James, Libby and Sam walks behind their two teammates and nodded.
Anna looks at July. "Looks like they're acting like humans." Anna said to July.
"The only way to decide this is to have a Pokémon battle." Jovan said.
"A Pokémon Battle?" Meowth repeated.
"That's is correct." Jovan said. "We'll hold a tournament and whoever wins gets to keep Togepi and the egg. Are you in or out?"
Team Rocket and Team Neo huddles together whispering before looking back at them. "We're in." Justin said.
Everyone found a small stage in the park. Jovan and his friends stood across from Team Rocket and Team Neo.
"Since this is a small arena, we'll have to hold two tournaments." Jovan said.
"Before we begin, I would like Sam and Libby not participate in this tournament." Justin announced.
Libby and Sam looks at him with angry looks on their faces.
"Are you kidding?" Libby growled.
"I don't believe you!" Sam snarled.
"Then just the five of us will battle after the first tournament." Seth said.
"Let's make it a sudden death battle by just using one Pokémon each." Ash suggested.
"Okay." Misty said.
"That's fine with me." Justin nodded his head.
"But in this second tournament, we'll transform into one Pokémon only." Jovan said.
"That sounds good." July said.
As the challengers was looking through their bags to know which one Pokémon to use in the two tournaments, Meowth turns around, shocked.
"I forgot!" Meowth shouted with a shocked expression. "I don't have any Pokémon to battle with!" He walks to the end of the stage where Jessie, James, Libby and Sam were sitting in the front row. "Hey guys, can I borrow one of your Pokémon?"
"Not a chance!" Jessie and James yells at him angrily.
"Gah!" Meowth gasps. "What am I going to do now?" He looks down at himself. "Oh yeah, I forgot. I am a Pokémon. I can battle for myself."
Jovan and the other challengers were sitting in the front row. Ash and Misty was standing on the sidelines with Togepi sitting on a pillow in front of a tournament grid. Meowth stood several feet away, facing Brock and Onix.
"First up is Brock vs Meowth." Ash announced.
Ash taps an empty soda can and the battle began.
"Go, Onix!" Brock shouted.
Onix snakes onto the battlefield.
"Go, Meowth!" Meowth shouted. "Aahh!" He tried to attack, but Meowth was knock down to the ground. "Bluh!" Meowth grunted. He quickly got up and back away a few feet. "Meowth, give them your scratch attack!" Meowth went back to the same spot he landed and said, "Okay, here goes!" Meowth ran to Onix and began scratching Onix's face.
"Being your own trainer must be tough." Ash said as he and Misty watch the battle as Togepi was playing with Pikachu's tail.
"Must be." Misty said.
"Meow!" Meowth shouted, continuing his attack.
"Looks like Meowth isn't doing that badly." Jessie said.
"I never knew Meowth is spunky." James said, eating a bag of potato chips.
"Your Scratch attacks can't do anything to Onix's rock hard stone body!" Brock shouted. "Onix, Rock Throw now!"
"Groar!" Onix roared, slamming his tail.
"Yeow!" Meowth yelled dodging the attack twice. He landed on his stomach. Meowth got back up and backs up several feet. "What's wrong, Meowth?!" Meowth shouted. "Hang in there! But Meowth's Scratch and Bite attacks aren't strong against Rock Pokemon!" Meowth turns his head to Togepi, who was playing Pikachu's tail. I'll do it for Togepi!" He looks back at Onix. "Meowth refuses to give up! Huh?" He looks over his shoulder and notices two buckets of water. "That's it." Meowth smiled. "Onix is weak against water."
"What do you say, Meowth?" Brock calls to him. "Do you surrender?"
Meowth quickly picks up the two buckets and charges at Onix. "Meowth never says die!" Meowth shouted. "The absolute victory drench with water attack!" He jumps high and threw the two buckets down, causing the water to Onix.
"Groar!" Onix bellowed, getting hit by water.
Everyone gasps.
"Fury Swipes attack!" Meowth shouted, scratching Onix's face with furious scratches.
"Groar!" Onix bellowed as he laid on the ground defeated.
"Onix!" Brock exclaims, running up to him. "Are you okay?" He looks back up at Meowth. "Hey, throwing water is cheating!"
"I am merely a parent, fighting for its child." Meowth said. "And I'm going to win this tournament."
"Well well." Jessie said.
"Meowth won." James said.
Brock returns Onix to the Poké Ball and walks over to the sidelines with Meowth. Ash and Misty stood across from one another.
"Next up is Ash and Misty." Brock announced.
"Our first battle since Cerulean Gym." Ash said.
"This time I'm going to beat you." Misty smiled..
"Bulbasaur, I choose you!" Ash yelled, throwing a Poké Ball and Bulbasaur appeared.
"Bulbsaur!" Bulbasaur exclaims.
"Ah yes." MIsty said. "Just as I expected. You chose Bulbasaur. Then I choose-"
Psyduck appeared from its Poké Ball before Misty can call out her Pokémon.
"AH!" Misty gasps in shocked. "Quick, get back in the ball!"
"Duck?" Psyduck asks confused, looking at Misty.
"You're not allowed to call back your Pokémon." Ash said to her.
"He's right." Misty growls in frustration. "Okay! Aim Psyduck's head, Bulbasaur!"
"Its head?" Ash asked. Then he realized what Misty wanted. "Yeah, like I'm that dense. Bulbasaur, go lick Psyduck on the head."
"Bulba!" Bulbasaur shouted, jumping on Psyduck's head and began licking its head.
"Psy!" Psyduck shouted.
"No Bulbasaur!" Misty yelled. "You'll never lick Psyduck if you lick it!"
"Good!" Ash smiled. "Now use the tickle attack!"
Bulbasaur got off of Psyduck and started tickling it with his Vine Whip.
"Psy Psy!" Psyduck laughed as it getting tickled. "Duck Duck!" Psyduck transforms into red energy and went back inside the Poké Ball in Misty's bag.
"The battle is over!" Brock declared. "Ash and Bulbasaur win!"
"Yeah!" Ash cheered. "Nice one! We did it!"
"No, no no!" Misty complains, falling on her knees and slams her fist repeatedly on the ground.
"Pi!" Togepi exclaims happily. "Toge Toge!"
Misty walks over to the sideline as Meowth took his position while Pikachu runs up to Ash and stood in front of him.
"The winner will get Togepi." Brock said.
"Alright, I choose Pikachu." Ash said.
"Pika." Pikachu said, walking onto the battlefield.
"In that case, I choose Meowth!" Meowth exclaims. He walks onto the battlefield. "Ready!"
"Pi." Pikachu said with a serious look.
No one has said anything as the two Pokemon stares at each other. Meowth looks over at Togepi and blush with a smile on his face. "Little Togepi." Meowth sighed. "I can just remember you were just an egg and all went through together." Meowth got serious and looks back at Pikachu. "For your sake, Togepi, I, Meowth, will win you back!"
As Brock tap the can, Meowth jumps backwards.
"Alright, Meowth, use your Furry Swipes attack!" Meowth ordered himself. "Right!"
Pikachu simply walks over to him and puts his tail on the cat's face, confusing him. "Pi... Ka... Chu!" Pikachu shouted, releasing a Thunderbolt.
"GAH!" Meowth shouted as he got zapped. He fell backwards onto his back. "I lost so fast I'm a little shocked." Meowth groaned.
"The winner!" Brock declared.
"We did it!" Ash cheered as Pikachu cheered too.
Jessie and James got up from the stands and walks over to Meowth before tying him up and dragging him back to the stand.
"I knew Meowth would lose." Jessie said.
"The heroes always get the breaks." James said.
Ash and Pikachu walks over to the sidelines as the others got onto the stage. Brock removed the first tournament grid and puts up the second tournament grid. In the first round was Jovan vs Seth and July vs Anna. Justin was facing no one in the first round because he'll be fighting whoever makes it to the final round. Brock let Slade to become the ref for the matches since Slade doesn't have any Pokémon or can transform too.
"The first match is Jovan and Dragonair vs Seth and Raticate!" Slade announced.
Jovan and Dragonair stood across from Seth and Raticate.
"Let the match begin!" Seth declared.
"Go, Dragonair!" Jovan shouted.
"Nair!" Dragonair shouted, flying onto the battlefield.
"Go, Raticate!" Seth shouted.
"Raticate!" Raticate shouted, running onto the battlefield.
"Dragonair, use Bubblebeam!" Jovan commanded.
Dragonair fires Bubblebeam at Raticate. The attack was a success.
"You ok?" Seth called to Raticate.
"Rat." Raticate nodded.
"Good." Seth smiled. "Use Body Slam!"
"Cate!" Raticate shouted as he runs to Dragonair.
"Quick Dragonair, use Thunderbolt!" Jovan commanded.
"Dragonair!" Dragonair shouted, releasing her Thunderbolt at Raticate
"Cate!" Raticate shouted in pain as he got zapped. When the attack was over, Raticate fainted.
Jovan transformed into his Black Dragonite and Seth transformed into his Geodude.
"Geo!" Seth shouted, using Mega Punch.
"Nite!" Jovan grunted. He opens his mouth and fires a spiral of water at Seth.
"Geo!" Seth shouted as he was taken out in one hit.
"The match is over!" Slade declared.
After the first contestants went to the sidelines, Anna, Vul, July and Eevee took their place on the battlefield.
"The next match is Anna vs July." Slade said.
"Go, Eevee!" July exlaims.
Eevee runs onto the battlefield.
"Go, Vul!" Anna exclaims.
"Vulpix!" Vul shouted as she runs onto the battlefield.
As Slade tap the soda can, July quickly shouted, "Eevee, use Tackle!"
"Eevee!" Eevee shouted, running to Vul.
"Vul, use Double Edge!" Anna shouted.
"Pix!" Vulpix shouted, running into Eevee with great force.
"Vee!" Eevee grunted as she was sent rolling bakwards.
"Hang in there, Eevee!" July shouted. "Use Swift!"
"You use Swift too!" Anna commanded.
Eevee jumps in the air and swishes its tail, releasing multiple yellow stars with golden sparkles around them at Vul as Vul fires multiple yellow stars with golden sparkles around them at Eevee as well.
"Use Bite, Eevee!" July commanded.
Eevee bites down on Vul's back.
"Vul!" Vul howled.
"Quick Vul, jump and use Body Slam!"
"Vul!" Vul shouted, as she jumps high into the air and flips halfway forward and fell, making Eevee hit the ground hard.
"Quick, switch out!" July ordered.
"Vee!" Eevee exclaims running back to July.
July transforms into Golduck and runs onto the battlefield. July quickly opens her beak, firing a spiral of water at Vul.
"Vul!" Vul shouted as she got hit and fainted.
"Vul!" Anna yelled. She runs over and picks her up. "You did good." Anna said to her. "Take a good rest. I'll win this one for us."
"Vulpix." Vul said as Anna carried her back to their spot and setting her down.
Anna turns around and transforms into Jolteon. "Teon!" Anna shouted, firing a Thunderbolt at July.
July responded back by creating copies of herself after she yelled in shock when she saw the unexpected Thunderbolt.
"Jolt?" Anna asked confused, looking at the copies.
"Anna learned Thunderbolt and July learned Double Team!" Brock exclaims.
"Amazing!" Jovan gasps.
All of the July charges at Anna and tackles her a little recklessly, making Anna faint.
"The battle is over, July and Eevee wins!" Slade declared.
Both July and Anna transforms back into a human and July helps her get on her feet.
"Not bad, Anna." July said. "You almost had me and Eevee."
"I know." Anna smiled. "You too."
July watches her two friends walks over to the sidelines before she and Eevee walks over to Anna's spot. Jovan walks up to his spot as the two siblings stares across from one another.
"Next up is Jovan and July." Slade announced.
"Our first battle." Jovan smiled.
"This is going to be interesting." July smiled.
"Go, Arcanine!" Jovan yelled, throwing a Poké Ball and Arcanine appeared.
"Go, Chan!" July shouted, throwing a Poké Ball and Chan appeared.
"Hitmonchan!" Chan shouted.
As Slade tap the soda can, July made the first move.
"Chan, use Fire Punch!" July ordered.
Chan's boxing gloves was covered in red flames and he ran towards Arcanine.
"Dodge, then use Bite!" Jovan commanded.
Arcanine dodges the attack and bites down on Chan's arm, making him yell in pain.
"Chan, use your Thunder Punch!" July ordered.
Chan was able to punch Arcanine to the side with his free fist, causing Arcanine to let go.
"Attack back with Flaemthrower!" Jovan commanded.
"Arc!" Arcanine yelled, opening his mouth and firing his Flamethrower at Chan.
Chan couldn't avoid the attack as he took the hit. Chan fainted.
July returns Chan to his Poké Ball and July steps onto the battlefield. She transforms into Scyther as Jovan calls Arcanine to return. Arcanine returns to his trainer's side as he steps onto the battlefield and transforms into Pikachu.
"Pika!" Jovan shouted, running towards July with Quick Attack.
"Scy!" July yelled as she used Quick Attack too.
Both siblings took the attack. Jovan ran in circles by using Agility to avoid his sister's Slash.
"Pikachu!" Jovan shouted, releasing his Thunderbolt on July.
"Scyther!" July yelled as she got zapped. July fell forward, fainted.
"The battle is over!" Slade announced. "Jovan and Arcanine win!"
Both siblings transforms back and July walks up to her brother. "Good match." July said to him with a smile. She walks back to the sidelines as Justin made his way over to the spot.
"The winner will get the egg." Slade declared. "And since Justin can't transform into a Pokémon, this will be a normal Pokémon battle."
"You're up, Dragonair." Jovan said.
Dragonair flew over to the battlefield.
"Then I'm choosing with Pidgeotto." Justin said, throwing a Poké Ball and Pidgeotto appeared.
"Pidgeo!" Pidgeotto cried.
The two Pokémon stares at each other.
"I'm going to win this tournament." Justin thought. "Pidgeotto, use Tackle!"
But before Pidgeotto can attack, Dragonair used Thunderbolt on him and Pidgeotto fainted from the attack.
"Awe man!" Justin yelled.
"The winner!" Slade declared as Justin returns Pidgeotto to the Poké Ball.
Justin jumps off the stage and walks to his teammates.
"I had a feeling you were going to lose this tournament." Libby said as Team Rocket and Team Neo walks away as Jessie and James drag Meowth.
"Why can't we get a break sometime?" Sam wondered.
Jovan walks over to his friends and picks up his egg.
"Togepi, you're mine now." Ash smiled.
Togepi just looks at him.
"What's wrong?" Ash asks it.
"Togepi, hey." Brock said, getting its attention. "It's no good."
"I told you, but you didn't want to believe me." Misty said.
Togepi looks at Misty and smiled. "Toge." it said happily.
"Look it doesn't want to go with anyone else but me now." Misty smiled.
Ash and Brock looks at each other before looking back at Togepi.
"Pi." Togepi said, standing up and walking over to Misty.
"Hey, what's go on here?" Ash asked confused. He takes out the Poké Dex as Misty picks up Togepi.
"Togepi is imprinted with the image of the first thing it sees after it hatches, thinking this is its mother."
"Yeah, that explains it!" Brock exclaims. "When it hatched, Misty was the first thing that it saw."
The two boys turns around and sees Togepi following Misty.
"I knew it." Misty smiled, turning around. "Togepi likes me because it thinks I'm it's mother. Right Togepi?"
"Toge Toge." Togepi smiled, following Misty happily.
Misty turns around and kneels to pick it up. "I'll love you just like a mother would." Misty said before looking at Pikachu. "You'll help me take care of Togepi, right Pikachu?"
"Pikachu." Pikachu agreed.
"Heh." Misty chuckled as she stands up.
Ash and Brock looks down at the ground.
"The second tournament was fun." Jovan smiled, looking at his friends.
"Yeah." July said.
"At least it's good to know a couple of you have some new attacks." Slade pointed out.
"True." Seth said.
"Let's head out now." Slade suggested.
They all nodded in agreement. As they were walking back to their friends, Jovan and Anna walks to the sidelines to get their stuff. But Jovan steps on a soda can and lost his balance, falling foward. Anna grabs him too, but she fell down with him. She was laying on his back.
"Are you ok?" Anna asks him.
"I'm ok." Jovan answered.
The two of them heard July chuckling behind them as they turn their heads to look at her.
"I'm so happy that you two are going to be parents." July teases them. "I knew that you love her, Jovan. I can't wait to tell the others about this." She turns around and walks over to her friends.
"It's not what it looks like, July!" Jovan shouted, his face turning red.
Well, with Misty as its new trainer, it seems like Togepi is the real winner. Don't you think?
