Flashback
Opening the door of a house, Isuka stepped inside. Then, arriving in a living room, she saw a huge mess in the room. The furniture had been damaged, the windows were broken and the walls showed signs of impact. And in the center of the room was the body of a man, sitting against a wall, displaying an expressionless face.
" Berkam-san ... "
Not moving, the man remained seated on the ground. Being shirtless, he allowed Isuka to see the huge bandage that covered his side wound. It had already been a month since he had it. A month since the doctors had told him that his wound could not be cured. A month since he had been told that his career in the Navy was over. And above all, it had been a month since he had lost his men, during his last fight against two pirate crews.
Since then, no longer leaving his home, the former commodore was in a period of depression. He no longer ate properly, no longer took care of himself, and was often the victim of tantrums when his injury hurt him.
"Berkam-san..." Isuka repeated.
Eventually raising his face a little, Berkam just stared at her. This time, Isuka saw his face, which seemed to have aged ten years. Then she saw only sadness in his eyes.
"What do you want, Isuka?"
"I…I just wanted to know how you were doing."
"I'm alive! So I'm fine."
Then, looking down, he noticed that the young woman was holding two bags in her hands.
"What is that ? "
"Food! In fact, the people of the island gave me all of this as a gift! This is for you! They hope this will help you recover."
"I don't need to." The man retorted. "I just want to be alone."
"Berkam-san...you've been locked up at home for a month! Won't you come out? Go to the naval base to salute the soldiers! Go for a walk in town! Or take a boat ride."
Hearing that last word, Berkam began to growl.
"No...I don't want to go to sea anymore."
Thinking back to the bloody battle that had taken place, as he watched his men die one after another, he mumbled.
"Why am I alive?"
" Berkam ? "
Suddenly, the man got up and rushed towards her. Then, placing his hands firmly on her shoulders, he stared at Isuka, while tears streamed down his face.
"I'm crippled, with no family and I'm getting old! My men...most were younger than me...they had families...and many had great futures in the Navy! So, why am I the only one alive? Why am I the one who survived?"
"But... But... if you were dead, the surviving pirates could have attacked the island! Berkam-san... what you did... no, the fight each of you fought ...it saved the entire population of the island! And even if they died, all the soldiers who fought alongside you are considered heroes."
Then, thinking she had found something that could improve her superior's morale, she declared.
"Why don't we go to the cemetery?"
"Cemetery?"
"Yes! This week, the memorial stone of this fight has finally been finished! The names of all the soldiers who perished have been engraved on it! Not a single one has been forgotten."
Staring at Berkam, she flashed a confident smile, before affirming.
"Berkam-san…I'm sure they'll be happy if they know you came to see their grave! Let's go see them, and I want to hear you congratulate them on their fight."
"Go see them?" Berkam wondered.
Suddenly, pushing Isuka away, he put his hands on his head, while he seemed to hear a voice.
"I see them! I see them all the time."
" What ? "
Seeming to tremble in fear, Berkam was certain he heard the cries of his men, either dying or begging him to come and help them, before perishing in an explosion.
"I...I couldn't save them! None of them!"
Then, suddenly, he winced in pain, as his side pain kicked in. Seeing him fall to his knees, Isuka immediately rushed to his side.
" Are you OK ? "
In response, Berkam pushed her back.
" GET OUT ! "
"What...?" The young woman wondered.
"GET OUT!" the man repeated, getting up.
Seeing him put on an angry look, Isuka finally got up. Then she bowed to him.
"It was nice to be able to talk to you, Berkam-san."
Then, heading for the exit, she found herself outside. Nevertheless, before closing the door, she declared.
"Berkam-san…I don't know if you remember but…if the villagers want to see you today, it's because it's your birthday."
Being in front of a cabinet drawer, which he was going to open, Berkam stopped, while Isuka declared.
"No matter what happened during this battle, everyone cares about you! They all know that you did your best to protect the men who accompanied you! in their eyes ... you are and you will always be the hero of this island! So if you have any help, know that there will always be people who will be there for you."
Finally, Isuka closed the door behind her, leaving the former commodore alone. The drawer open, Berkam looked inside to see a bag of drugs. at that moment, he understood that he had to make a choice. Either continue to live in this depressive period, where he let himself die ... or turn to the people who were ready to help him regain a taste for life.
Remaining still for a few seconds, the man felt his body tremble as his urge to take drugs became unbearable. Then, finally, he showed weakness.
Instead of Isuka, the man preferred to trust the good that the white powder could bring him, without suspecting how far his addiction could lead him.
FLASHBACK'S END
Standing still, Isuka only stared at the ashes on the ground, which had started to blow away due to a gust of wind. Knees on the ground, she was sobbing, knowing that nothing could bring her old hero back to life. Berkam was dead. And the man who had killed him, was right behind Isuka, just watching her cry.
" Berkam-san ... "
Finally, Ace asked.
" Are you OK ? "
Immediately, hearing his voice, Isuka clenched her fists and her teeth. Then, trying to stay calm, she asked.
"Why? Why did you kill him?"
"It wasn't my attention initially! But...I had no other choice! It was the only way to save him."
" Save him ? "
At that moment, Isuka chuckled. Then, her laughter became more and more audible, while there was not the slightest trace of joy. Finally, calming down, she said.
"You didn't know Berkam! He was...special! I know he could have been saved."
"No, he couldn't."
" SHUT UP ! "
Turning then to Ace, Isuka still displayed a smile, which betrayed her disgust and hatred towards Ace.
"How can you know what he was thinking? How can you know he couldn't have regained consciousness? How can you know if he deserved to die or not?"
Extending her smile, she declared.
"You're just a pirate."
Standing still, Ace only heard her laugh mockingly, as she pointed her finger at him.
"I thought you were different... but you are and always will be a pirate! A man who thinks killing is always the best solution! In cold blood, you just killed someone, as if nothing were wrong. was and you don't give the impression of regretting your gesture! How? How can you manage to sleep while you kill people in this way!"
Then, laughing again, she declared.
"I know why you killed him! You knew who Berkam was! You knew about his exploits! That's why you came to this island! You wanted to take advantage of his depression to kill him and get the glory! You wanted let everyone know that the hero of this island died at your hands! That was your plan, right?"
Stopping smiling, she roared.
"You're just a murderer!"
Still continuing to remain motionless, Ace had his gaze hidden under his hat. Finally, bending down to pick up his bag, he slung it over his shoulder, before leaving.
"Hey! Can I know where you're going?"
"Apparently our deal is off! So since the murderer on this island is dead, I have no business here!"
Immediately, picking up her sword, Isuka stood up before roaring.
"Stay here! I'll never let you leave this island alive! Do you hear me? A pirate like you...you don't deserve to live."
Turning his back to her, Ace declared.
"Can you tell me who is really at fault in this story?"
" Huh ? "
"I killed a man! That's true ! But do you think I did this with a selfish thought? Don't you think I wanted to save the people of this island and your life?"
Thinking back to the moment Ace stepped in front of Berkam, to protect her, Isuka tightened her grip on the hilt of her sword.
"SHUT UP! I never asked you to protect me! And you know what? You should have let me die."
At that moment, Ace stopped.
"For me, to die at the hands of Berkam-san would have been the greatest honor! The fact that you killed my former mentor, in front of my eyes, without my being able to react, is the greatest shame that a soldier might feel."
Immediately, a hand grabbed her neck and smashed her against a wall. Screaming in pain, Isuka dropped her sword. Then, opening her eyes, she seemed terrified when she saw Ace's hateful gaze.
"How dare you say that? How dare you say that you would have preferred to die, when dozens of people died today?"
Not giving her time to answer him, Ace threw Isuka to the ground. Raising her face, Isuka saw the corpse of a civilian in front of her.
"This man...did he want to die? This woman...did she want to die? This soldier...did he want to die?"
Positioning himself in front of Isuka, Ace kicked the ground with his foot, pulverizing it, causing Isuka to jump in fright.
"Today, dozens of people died! I couldn't save them! But you, I saved you! They didn't want to die and you dare to complain that you're still alive."
Grabbing Isuka's collar, he forced her up, while he ignited his fist.
"I understand your anger! In truth, you can be mad at me! Don't like me! Hate me! But I forbid you to talk bullshit about preferring to die than to live.
Seeing his fist moving towards her face, Isuka remained completely still, frozen in fear. At that moment, passing close to her face, Ace's fist hit a wall, pulverizing it. Feeling the impact, Isuka couldn't even manage to scream in fear. Instead, staring into Ace's face, she opened her eyes, noticing that he looked like Berkam's, every time he was angry at Isuka's stupidity. He and Ace had the same angry expression, which instantly made the lieutenant realize that she was wrong.
Then, letting go of Isuka, he saw her fall to her knees, while she was shaking with fear.
"Never speak lightly of death again."
Then he turned to leave. Remaining on her knees, Isuka found herself alone. Trembling with fear, she eventually let her fear fade away, only to turn into sadness. She knew she was wrong. She knew Ace was right. If the murderer had been someone other than Berkam, she would surely have forgiven Ace for killing him, if it was to protect the population.
However, instead of behaving like a soldier, she had behaved like a civilian and had let her emotions get the better of her reason. The person she must have considered the villain of this story had been turned to ashes. And the hero of this island was the person who left, without having received the slightest thanks.
At this moment, gritting her teeth, and deciding to put her pride aside, she ends up getting back on her feet, before running towards the port of the island. Seeing her leave, Monet decided to come out of hiding, before cutting the video. Nevertheless, she knew that Caesar could have seen Ace kill his guinea pig.
Roaring with rage, Caesar screamed.
"How could he kill him in one attack? This power, it's not normal."
Hitting a wall with his foot, he declared.
"It's all that guinea pig's fault! Commodore Berkam...Finally, he was just a loser."
" On the contrary! In truth, your guinea pig made an excellent performance against Ace. " Doctor Frank retorted.
" Huh ? "
Smiling, Caesar's associate said.
"Your drug...Kaido will never be able to use it to enhance the power of his men, because it will only create an army of out-of-control monsters! On the other hand...imagine what the Cezare could do if given to Navy soldiers."
Smiling sadistically, he affirmed.

Emerging from his hiding place, a child appeared and stared at the carnage before him. He was the boy that Ace had saved, but who had seen Berkam kill his parents. With a stoic gaze, he walked between the corpses. However, he stopped, feeling a hand grab his foot. Remaining calm, the child lowered his gaze, to see a Navy soldier, trying to hold his foot. Wounded, while a projectile had almost killed him by piercing his throat, the soldier begged.
" Please ... help me. "
Even though he was a child, the boy had recognized Berkam. He understood that he had killed his parents. And, having suffered a psychological shock, the boy looked at the soldier with contempt. For him, the Navy was his enemy. So, stooping down, he picked up the soldier's firearm, before aiming at his head.
Opening his eyes in fear, the soldier cried out.
"No... stop! STOP!"
Dumbfounded, Monet heard a shot, while the body of the soldier stopped moving. In front of the new corpse, the child watched him remain motionless. Finally, seeming to come out of his trance, he understood what he had just done, and immediately dropped the weapon.
"What...? What...?"
Trembling with fear, seeing the corpses around him, he began to sob.
" MOM ! DAD ! "
Suddenly, hearing footsteps, he turned to see Monet, just behind him. Pulling back immediately, the boy asked.
"Who...Who are you?"
In response, Monet knelt down, before smiling at him.
"Don't worry! I'm here to save you."
" What ? "
Suddenly, the child felt Monet's arms wrap around her as she hugged him.
"I'm here to save you." Monet repeated. "Don't worry! The Navy will never hurt you again."
At that moment, more tears rolled down the child's cheeks, as he began to cry. However, oblivious to his sadness, Monet only smiled sadistically, while thinking about what Caesar could do with this new guinea pig.
Being in the port of the island, Ace threw his bag in his boat, before starting to untie it. Once done, he climbed in, and left the island. Lying down on his boat, he ends up looking at the sky. Immediately, he thought about what he had just done. He had to protect civilians, by killing someone. It was certainly not something he was proud of. Nevertheless, he knew there was no other way to save this man. And anyway, even if he could have saved him, Berkam would have been sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison. Nothing could allow him to regain the life he had lost.
However, it was Isuka's face that Ace couldn't get his mind off. Preferring not to think about the hatred visible in his eyes, he closed his eyes, before starting a nap. Nevertheless, he suddenly heard.
" Portgas ... "
Surprised, Ace stood up, before seeing a small boat, near his. And lying inside was Isuka.
" You ? "
Staring at Ace, Isuka still thought back to when he killed Berkam. Still, deciding to put her anger behind her, she declared.
"You saved me...and I want to thank you for that."
"Huh? Did you come to tell me that?"
"No! I also came to thank you for saving the population! I…I…Thank you very much."
At that moment, Ace saw her bow to him. At that moment, all of Isuka's pride was gone. She was thanking a pirate. But, she knew what she was doing was right.
Seeing her, Ace ends up smiling a little, before asking her.
"Didn't you feel like screaming that you wanted to die?"
"Shut up!" Isuka growled. "Besides, since you saved me, you must bear the consequences."
" The results ? "
Pointing her finger at Ace, Isuka declared.
"As a soldier, I have my pride to defend! Therefore, until I save your life, I will follow you, no matter where you go."
Looking at her, surprised, Ace ends up extending his smile, before asking in a mocking tone.
" Oh, really ? "
Yanrede Island
"Nakata...do you want to come with us?"
Stopping as she walked down a hallway, the young nurse turned to see Coby behind her.
" What ? "
"Now that the problem with Apu is resolved, we are scheduled to leave tonight! Nakata… you are a nice person, as well as a nurse! Your skills can be useful to us."
"Me? With you? But...it's impossible! I mean...I'm weak and scared of everything! How can I become an elite soldier?"
"You knows what's fun?" Coby questioned. "It's because you look like me! In truth, I have the impression that you are me, in a feminine version! That's why I want to help you! I know that you can become someone 'one of competence. "
Extending his hand to Nakata, he declared.

Finally, displaying a serious look, contrary to her childish smile that she constantly displayed, she wondered.
"Is it really over?"
Opening his eyes, Apu tried to regain his senses. Nevertheless, unable to make a sound, while a gag was in front of his mouth, he tried to move. Nevertheless, tied to a table, he could not make the slightest movement.
"What the hell is this?" He wondered, trying to figure out where he was.
However, being in a closed and dark room, he was unable to see what was around him.
" What does it mean ? "
Suddenly, the sound of a door was heard, followed by a series of footsteps. Finally, a few seconds later, a figure arrived, lit by an oil lamp.

"My brother was called Reny! He was the one who raised me when my parents abandoned us! For me, he was my hero! And I had always sworn to myself not to let anyone take him from me."
Showing a crazy smile, she laughed.
"Every time a girl approached him, I killed her! They wanted to steal my brother from me and I made them regret it! Nevertheless, one day, my brother saw me do it! I explained the reason for my actions! I explained to him that I loved him and that I wanted him to stay by my side, until our death! But he refused! Worse still, he called me crazy! "
Stopping laughing, she glared enraged as she roared.
"Me? Crazy? He had dared to tell me that, after all I had done for him ! I couldn't forgive him! And that's why I killed him! Then, when I found myself alone, I decided to join the Navy and take advantage of everything I had learned about human anatomy, by killing my targets, to enter the medical field!At first, I did not know why I had joined the Navy! Finally, regaining her smile, before blushing, she declared.

Finally, looking at Apu, she declared.
"From now on, all I have to do is get rid of you. Earlier, when the doctors weren't looking at me, I created another statue of you and used it to kill them all! Then, after hiding you under a bed, I organized your fake escape! Pursuing my clay statue, the soldiers left and gave me enough time to hide you here! Right now he thinks you're dead. "
Immediately, she caught sight of Apu staring at her, while seeming to want to say something.
"Huh?" Nakata questioned, removing his gag.
"You're a lunatic." The man asserted.
Immediately, a vein of rage appeared on Nakata's forehead. In an instant, moving her hand to a table covered in torture tools, she grabbed a pair of wire cutters. Then, positioning one of Apu's fingers, between the blades, she cut it.
A scream echoed throughout the room. Seeing Apu writhing in pain, Nakata saw him start to cry. Finding her smile, she said.
"If you cry for this, I can assure you that the sequel is going to be unbearable."
Finally, a few hours later, Coby was smiling as he saw someone giving him a salute.
"Coby-san…thank you for inviting me." Nakata thanked him.
In front of her, the rest of the team waved goodbyes to their new teammate, while they all had to approve the arrival of the fifth member of their team. But neither of them understood the danger they faced as the boat left Yanrede Island.

Joining a man, seated in front of a campfire, Uno, Dos, Quatro and Cinca stopped, before greeting him.
" Widos-sama. "
Ignoring them, as he just stared at the flames of the fire, the old man declared.
"Today I was able to move my plan forward! Now it's all going to depend on what happens tomorrow."
"Tomorrow?" Dos wondered. "Hey, do you really think that jerk Enel is capable of being invincible? There's no way we can lose to him."
" I'm not talking about that idiot. " Widos retorted. "I'm talking about another person."
Looking at the flames, he suddenly used magic and the flames moved, before taking on the appearance of a face.
"Monkey D. Luffy...I had a vision about him."
