"The trees on this island are really tall." Menma asserted, noticing that some of them were over ten meters tall.
"I mostly feel like they're lying down." Usopp remarked, while their trunks were oddly very narrow.
"No danger on the horizon." Chopper rejoices, while scanning the horizons. "It's reassuring! We'll be able to rest a bit."
"It's not funny." Luffy retorted, pouting.
Seeing only grass and trees around him, Luffy looked disappointed with this island.
"It sucks, there's nothing at all! At least in a town we could have found a restaurant or a butcher."
"We may be able to find a village on the other side of the island." Usopp said. "After all, if this island is safe, humans must live there."
" If it is, Doflamingo lives here. " Menma ironized.
"DON'T SAY THAT NAME." Usopp roared, placing his hands over his ears. "I want to forget about this guy and pray that I never meet him."
Following the small group, while she also surveyed the island curiously, Hatterene finally turned her gaze to a tree, containing some very oddly shaped apples. Each fruit seemed to have been stretched.
Wanting to see them closer, Hatterene let her eyes turn blue.
Hatterene use PHYCHIC.
Targeting the foliage of the tree, she used her power to unhook several of the fruits and float them to her. But, to her surprise, half of being suddenly disappeared.
" Hatte ? "
Now having several fruits in his arms, Luffy was already eating one of them.
"YUM! These apples are really delicious."
"Really?" Asked Usopp. "Give me an apple."
"I want one too." Chopper asserted, jumping in front of Luffy.
"Me too." Menma said, climbing onto Luffy's shoulders, before reaching out to pick up an apple.
However, seeing Luffy trying to hold on to what he had in his arms, Hatterene saw the trio start fighting Luffy, so they could grab some apples. The pokemon didn't understand the reason for this behavior.
After all, there was still plenty of fruit left in the trees. Moreover, it would be very easy for the small group to collect a large amount of fruit, thanks to her, Luffy or Menma.
Yet, seeming to have fun fighting each other, the foursome quickly end up on the floor, while each ends up with a piece of fruit in their mouths. Fighting friendly like this was something Hatterene couldn't understand.
For the pirates, it was a game. But for the pokemon, at Upper Yard, no fight could rhyme with a game. A fight...it was always a fight for survival. It was often a painful ordeal. A fight...it could make death ubiquitous.
" Hey, Hatterene. "
Before she could react, Luffy's arm wrapped around her waist and the pokemon was pulled towards him. Knocking her to the ground, next to him and his companions, Luffy threw a piece of fruit in her direction, while declaring.
"Eventually, eating a piece of fruit here and taking a nap afterwards won't be a bad thing."
"I agree." Each of his friends affirmed.
Grabbing the fruit, using the appendage behind her head, Hatterene seemed to stare at it in surprise.
When she was at Skypiea, sharing was rare. Of course, she had always shared everything with Misdreamus. But the rest of the time, the pokemons still had to fend for themselves to eat and survive. Enel's army had always prioritized food, as had J's pokemons.
And when a pokemon didn't respect this hierarchy, Enel electrocuted it immediately. Many times, this turned out to be a form of torture, to make pokemon understand not to rebel. But sometimes, these punishments had proven deadly. And, because of that, Hatterene had seen several of her companions killed.
Before coming to this world, Hatterene had never had contact with humans. And because of Enel, she had only learned to hate them and feel only contempt. And yet, when Luffy had just given her a fruit, without the slightest second thought, the pokemon ended up biting into it, knowing that she could trust this human.
It was almost then that a figure appeared in the sky.
"Huh?" wondered the little group, straightening up.
In the sky, flying majestically, the group could see an eagle, whose body was just as stretched as the trees and fruits of this island.
"It's weird."
"It's as if its body was like Luffy's but that bird didn't manage to return to its original form." Usopp remarked.
Then, hearing footsteps, the small group saw a bipedal bear moving in front of them. Measuring more than six meters in height, the animal also had a very very elongated.
"What's wrong with this island?"
Spreading her wings, Menma suddenly took off and gained altitude. Looking around, she saw nothing of interest on this island which was quite small. There was grass, trees, strange animals, a house...
"A HOUSE!" Suddenly cried the child. "I see a house over there."
"A house?" Repeated the other pirates.
Immediately, regaining his smile, Luffy began to run towards the indicated direction.
"I'm sure it's a restaurant."
"Idiot! What would a restaurant do on an island like this?" Usopp questioned, following him.
Meanwhile, leaving the ship, Bellamy looked around, while grumbling.
"Tsss! Knowing my bad luck, I should know that I wouldn't find any ships here."
"What are you planning to do?" Asked Bruno, who was still on the Merry. "Are you really going to stay here?"
"If you agree to do the dishes and the mop, we can consider the possibility of taking you to an inhabited island." Gin affirmed.
"Tssss!" Bellamy said simply, starting to walk away. "I have my pride."
But as he started to walk away, the blond was startled, as he turned his head towards the ocean. And in the distance, he thought he could make out the silhouette of a ship heading towards them.
" Huh ? "
"This house looks normal." Usopp remarked, standing in front of it.
"It's not lying down." Chopper remarked.
"I'm the only one who finds it weird that there's only one house?" Menma asked.
Seeming not to care about this detail, Luffy grabbed the handle of the door and entered inside the house.
"I'm going in." He declared.
"Idiot! You have to knock." Usopp retorted, trying to hold him back.
However, noticing that the place was dark, Luffy tried in vain to see any trace of life inside the dwelling.
" There is nobody. "
"Huh?" Usopp wondered. "It's owner may have gone out to get food."
Nevertheless, stepping on a carpet, the pair kicked up a large amount of dust, which caused them to cough. Immediately stepping out of the house, Usopp declared.
"I was wrong! Considering the amount of dust, no one has lived here for years."
"Do you think the owner is dead?"
"Not have to." Usopp retorted. "Maybe he just wanted to get off this island! After all, he must have been bored if he lived here alone."
"WOW!" Menma suddenly shouted.
"A white giraffe." Chopper said.
"White giraffe?" Repeated Usopp and Luffy.
Immediately, the duo rushed to the back of the house, where their company was, who stared at a large animal that looked like a giraffe. However, Usopp saw that it was not a giraffe.
"It's a horse." He affirmed.
In effect. Despite its long neck and long legs, the animal had a horse's head, and even a saddle on its back.
"I've never seen a horse as tall as this." Menma affirmed, with an admiring look.
At that moment, the animal began to whinny, which allowed Chopper to affirm.
"That horse's name is Shelly! It's a girl."
Immediately, Luffy climbed onto her back.
" Awesome ! "
But as he tried to grab hold of the animal's reins, Usopp looked thoughtful.
"This animal has a saddle! So that means there really is someone living here! But then why does this house seem to be uninhabited for a long time."
"Usopp!" Chopper suddenly shouted. "Look, these bamboos move on their own."
" Huh ? "
Looking in one direction, the sniper indeed saw two bamboos moving on their own.
" That ... ? "
"WOW!" Luffy said, seeing that. "Finally, this place is amazing."
"It's mostly scary." Usopp retorted, seeing the bamboos moving towards them. "I can't even see their top."
Suddenly, seeing the two bamboos meet in front of her, Hatterene targeted them.
Hatterene use MAGICAL LEAF.
Hitting the two bamboos, the many leaves had no trouble pulverizing them. But as the pieces of bamboo fell to the ground, a figure accompanied them and crashed against the ground.
"Wha...?" Usopp and Luffy wondered, noticing that a cloud of dust had risen at the moment of the impact.
"What was that?" Menma asked.
"A cannonball?" Chopper asked.
Finally, taking advantage that the dust disappeared, Luffy approached the place of the impact and then saw what looked like a small humanoid with a large beard.
"Huh? There was a spirit in the bamboo."
Bleeding from the nose from his fall, the humanoid tried to catch his breath as he retorted.
"I am a human."
" Really ? "
Straightening up, the man dusted himself a little, before declaring.
"My name is Tonjit! And I want to thank you."
"Thank us? Why?"
"You made sure I could get off my stilts."
"Your stilts?"
"These bamboos were stilts?" Usopp wondered. "Is this a joke? Those bamboos were so tall that we couldn't see their tops."
"Yet it is! I was at the very top."
"Why make such big stilts?" Menma asked. "That's stupid."
"It's not stupid." Tonjit retorted. "I have always loved stilts! And I have always wanted to make the biggest stilts ever created! For that, I used the long bamboos of this island! However, when I climbed on them, I discovered that I was dizzy and scared to come back down! So I got stuck."
"You're stupid." The four pirates affirmed.
"Not at all! It's only been 10 years since I got stuck."
" TEN YEARS ? "
"Yes! And while I was already high, the bamboos continued to grow! I was so scared."
"How could you survive ten years without eating?" Chopper asked.
"The trees on this island are the size of bamboo." Tonjit asserted. "I was able to survive by eating their fruit."
Hearing this, Menma asked.
"Do you know how to climb trees?"
"Huh? Of course! It's mandatory to know how to do this, considering the size of the trees on this island! Otherwise, I could never eat their fruit."
"In that case, why didn't you bring your stilts closer to a tree and jump into its foliage to grab a branch? Then you just had to reach the trunk and get down from the tree."
Hearing this, Tonjit opened his mouth wide, as snot dripped from his nose.
" I didn't think about it. "
"BAKAYARO!" Usopp roared. "It's not possible to be that stupid."
Ignoring him, Tonjit headed for the only dwelling on the island.
"Come! I invite you to my home! Be my guests."
"Great!" Luffy gloated, following him. "We'll be able to eat."
"Huh...remind you that this man hasn't been home for ten years! Am I the only one who cares about the state of his fridge?"
"Don't worry about it." Tonjit affirmed. "I would just have to ask some other villagers for some milk."
"Other villagers?" Chopper repeated. "Are there other people living on this island?"
"Still, I didn't see any other dwellings." Menma affirmed.
"Huh?" Tonjit wondered. "Yet the village is right in front of us."
"What?" The pirates wondered, seeing him pointing simply to his house. "There is only one house in this village?"
Seeming to be as surprised as them, Tonjit looked at his house, before putting on a shocked face.
"Where is the village?"
Then, making wild movements with his hands, he asked.
"Where is the village? Even the cattle have disappeared."
Seeing this, Menma moved closer to Usopp.
"I'm starting to think he's crazy."
"Me too." Usopp affirmed. "And even if a village was here, it's impossible that it's entirely gone in just ten years."
"I'll explain everything to you." Affirmed the old man. "In truth, I belong to a tribe composed of nomads."
"Nomads?"
"Yes! We regularly travel from one place to another! First of all, know that this island is called 'Long Ring Long Land'."
"Even its name is really long." Usopp remarked. "And yet, it is quite small."
" The area where we are is only a portion of the island. " Tonjit retorted. "The island itself is shaped like a large ring! However, most of the time, the island is buried under the ocean, leaving only its ten highest points visible, which thus resemble ten small islands. "
"So there are nine other islets in the vicinity, which are part of the same island as this place." Usopp understood.
"Amazing." Chopper said. "Nevertheless, there is no boat on this island! You are unable to leave this place whenever you want?"
"Why do you need a boat?" Tonjit questioned him. "Once a year, for a few hours, the water level suddenly drops, allowing the whole island to be visible! Thus, during this time, we have the ability to render another islet, before the level "No water comes up! Thanks to this, my tribe has a tradition of moving from islet to islet, once every three years."
"Oh?" Luffy said. "So in ten years the water level has risen five times."
"Baka!" Usopp growled. "It's only gone up three times! But that doesn't change the fact that his tribe left without him."

" We have a boat. " Luffy affirmed. "We can take you with us."
"That's right." Chopper nodded.
Hearing this, Tonjit surprised everyone by shaking his head.
"Thank you for your kindness! Nevertheless, I doubt you could help me."
" Why ? "
"As I told you, these ten islets are only one island and a great distance separates them! Of course, a boat can go from one islet to another! But the problem lies in the Log-Pose. "
"I understand." Usopp said. "These islets are part of the same island! Therefore, the log-Pose will be unable to point to an islet other than this one."
"That's it! To help me, I would need my horse."
"Your horse?" Chopper repeated. "Are you talking about Shelly?"
"That's right! I'm talking about...HOW DO YOU KNOW MY HORSE?"
"He's right there." The pirates affirmed, pointing to a horse, which was not far from Tonjit's house.
Immediately, seeing the animal, Tonjit rushed towards her and took advantage of her horse lowering his neck to stroke his head.
"SHELLY! You stayed for me? Thank you."
"So, she is your horse." Luffy realized.
"Of course! Shelly is my precious companion! She must have felt so alone all these years."
Shelly whinnied and Chopper affirmed.
"She said she would like you to ride on her back."
Hearing this, Tonjit couldn't help but cry.
"I can't believe you still want me, when you had every reason to believe I abandoned you."
Eventually, the pirates spotted the pair roaming the plains, while Shelly galloped off with her master on her back.
"It's a relief." Chopper affirmed. "With this horse, he will be able to find his family much more quickly."
"It's so beautiful to see such a bond between two companions." Usopp affirmed, starting to cry.
"We too have a precious bond." Luffy affirmed.
Then, surprising Hatterene, he put his arm around her.
"I'm sure our pokemon will like us just as much."
Immediately, Hatterene couldn't help but blush. For his part, reaching for his belt, Usopp pulled out his pokeball, before sighing.
"I doubt that will happen."
Throwing the object, he allowed it to open and Heracross showed up immediately.
" Hera ! "
Then, turning to Usopp, he held out his hands and demanded some treats.
"I have nothing with me." Usopp affirmed. "You've emptied the whole sugar stash."
Hearing this, Heracross froze for a few moments. Then, finally, he turned his back on Usopp, before starting to leave.
"INGRATE!" the sniper roared.
The ignorant Heracross suddenly flew away, before clinging to a tree. Tearing the bark off the trunk, he saw sap flowing and began to suck it.
"He only seems to like you when you have candy to give him." Menma remarked. "He's the complete opposite of Eevee."
"I really don't know what to do to make him obey me." Usopp confessed. "And as soon as I let him out of his pokeball, he causes trouble, wanting to go into the kitchen."
"Be happy." Menma retorted. "Me too, I would like to have a pokemon! I would like to have a dog."
" Me, I would also like to have a huge fire-breathing dragon. " Luffy affirmed.
" No question of having such a monster on our boat. " Usopp retorted.
Suddenly, a sound of detonation was heard. Startled, the pirates turned to the meadow and saw Shelly crumble, knocking Tonjit to the ground.
" What is ... ? "
Immediately running up, Luffy and his friends noticed that Shelly's legs were trapped in a net, preventing her from getting back up.
" A net ?
" Who did that ? "
"Fififififi! From now on, this horse belongs to me."
Showing up then, a trio advancing towards the pirates, while the man in the middle of the trio held a weapon in his hands.
"I am now the owner of this animal! I introduce myself! I am..."
" BULLET ! "
Not even having time to introduce himself, the newcomer got hit by Luffy's fist, which sent him flying backwards.
"AHHHHHHHHH!" The newcomer cried, his nose bleeding.
"Oyabin." A woman panicked, seeing him fall onto him back.
Bringing his fist back to him, Luffy still looked annoyed.
" Who are you ? "
"You... You little." Roared the newcomer, straightening up with difficulty. "Do you have any idea what kind of person I am? I'll tell you! I'm Foxy! The captain of the 'Foxy Pirates' crew."
"Foxy?" Luffy repeated.
Extending his smile, Foxy affirmed.
"I guess you've heard of me before! I have a bounty of 24,000,000 berries."
" No, I've never heard of you. " Luffy assured.
"Me too." Said his companions.
"Me too." Tonjit affirmed.
" WHAT ? "
Immediately, Foxy collapsed to his knees, looking depressed.
"They...they don't know me."
"Don't worry, Oyabin! I'm sure they're lying! You're the most famous pirate in the world."
Next to the duo, a second couldn't help laughing.
"Hihihihi! They don't know you, Oyabin."
"Shut up, Hamburg." Porche ordered him.
Managing to get up, while his hands were clapped on his nose, Foxy roared.
"I'm the pirate who gets whatever he wants! Why so much anger for a cursed horse? You want it? You just have to earn it."
"Win ?" Luffy repeated.
Cracking his knuckles, he affirmed.
"Perfect! If you want a fight, I'm ready."
"One moment." Foxy stopped him. "I think you misunderstood me! What I want is a Davy Back Fight."
" A what ? "
