Neb: I do not own Ducktales. Hey I got my first fav and follow for this fanfic. Hopefully there are more to come. I'll keep it going. I've decided to split up the boys again, because it's easier to put out content when their are multiple main characters. As long as they are separate I can keep rotating through them.
Our team of Ducks had gathered around the table to see the Star Chart of Captain Canary. With this map a whole new plethora of adventures will be opened up. Louie wasn't too sure that wasn't a good idea. I mean, he likes the earnings of an adventure, but the work and the danger is another story.
"Oh whelp, I went on the last one so I guess Dewey and Huey have to sit in on this one," Louie decided as he exited the kitchen.
"Why can't we experience the adventure together as a full family anymore?", Scrooge argued. "Why does it always have to be in groups."
"I mean *cough, cough*, I think I caught what Huey had, I might have to stay behind and get rest like he did," Louie faked being sick.
Everyone stared at Louie with disappointed expressions. None of them bought his act.
"Oh no, poor Louie," Launchpad spoke up in a panic. "I'll look after him in his time of need!"
"Launchpad, he's faking," Huey facepalmed.
"But as long as he's supervised I suppose it's fine," Scrooge shrugged.
"If it's alright with you guys, I actually was hoping to go to the comic store," Huey spoke up. "I want to perfect my Duck Calling deck to see if I can find a way around that jerk's strategy."
"Well I can't say no to a competitive spirit," Scrooge sighed once more. "I'll take Dewey and Webby for this next adventure. If anyone else wants to tag along they are welcome to."
"If Launchpad is watching Louie, then I guess I can go," Della remarked. "I'll have Penny swing by the comic store to check up on Huey."
"I to shall go to the comic store," Violet decided. "I'm curious about the strategy game Huey had picked out."
"The three of you splitting up again," Webby pointed out. "Are you sure that's what you want?"
"We have our whole lives to hang out with each other," Louie shrugged. "We all have our own things, that's ok."
"I'm not as obsessed with us being together all the time as I once was," Huey also pointed out. "We've got so many more people looking out for us now."
"It'll be fine," Dewey assured. "Even when we are apart we are together."
"Alright then," Scrooge smiled. "Webby, Dewey, and Della will be going with me for this next adventure!"
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Louie was being driven by Launchpad back to Albert's home. He sat at the back of the Limo staring down at his peace offering. The Crystal Ball didn't need to actually be magic, he just needed Albert to think it was magic. Afterall, he was a collector or items, when was he ever going to use it. He had used sand paper like the shop keeper suggested in order to make it look older. He even knocked it around a little to make the crack look more defined. "I can say that the magic had weakened because of the state it was in," Louie muttered to himself.
"So why are we going out and about," Launchpad wondered. "I thought you were sick."
"I'm sick of being in danger," Louie responded. "That's what I am. Anyways, you just wait in the limo while I go talk to my friend Albert, ok."
"You got it Louie," Launchpad nodded. He pulled out in front of the house they found Albert at last time.
Louie got out and headed over to the door before ringing it's doorbell.
A man that looked like a flamingo opened the door and looked down at him.
"Is Albert home?", Louie wondered. This was the right address he was pretty sure. But something seemed fishy. "Oh boy, he used a fake address."
"I don't know who Albert is," the flamingo man stated. "So you are probably right."
"Thanks for your time," Louie grinned nervously before turning around. He was heading back to the limo but noticed an abandoned shack nearby Albert's fake home. "Worth a shot." Louie headed to the shack and rang the doorbell. Nobody answered, so he decided to enter. "Hello? The door was already opened." He stepped inside and immediately jumped when the wooden floorboards started creaking. "Maybe this being Albert's place is a bit of a stretch," Louie figured. He was about to turn around, but he did notice a picture out of the corner of his eye. He was mentally kicking himself for his ability to see all angles. Louie stared at the picture and saw it was a painting of two red ducks like Albert. One male, the other female, and the female one was carrying an egg. Louie headed to the painting, as he got closer he saw a sleeping bag laid out on the floor that looked like it was slept in recently, while the rest of the house was covered in dust. "Who lives like this?" He was starting to feel bad for Albert, he wasn't sure why Albert's living situation was like this, but he was starting to understand. He saw under the painting were several medals that were often awarded to military pilots. "Your parents are pilots to huh," Louie figured as he saw that there were duplicates of certain pins and medals. Louie saw a desk nearby that also looked like it was cleaner than the rest of the house. Albert must use it regularly as well. Louie headed to the desk and started looking through it. He found a couple more pictures of the two red ducks with them in their pilot uniforms. "I don't understand, no notes or journals? That's how it usually plays out right. What am I missing?" Louie pulled a drawer open when an idea came in his head. Instead of looking in the drawer he felt along the bottom of it and pushed upward. The drawer dropped a book in his hand when he did so. "Classic hidden compartment." Louie checked the book which was in fact a journal. He opened it up and saw a picture come out the front that had the two parents standing outside the Spear of Selene. "That's impossible," Louie responded. "Did he just cut and paste my family's backstory?" He read through the journal, which wasn't surprising it was about magic items and places they could be found. He wasn't sure how much more time he had, and he was sure after snooping around Albert wasn't going to take his peace offering. Still, he needed to know why Albert hated them and why Albert's parents were pilots of the Spear of Selene just like his own mother was. He found a passage that explained it all towards the end of the book.
Della Duck had gone missing eleven years ago. That's why we were called in by they McDuck family to go looking for her. There are several pilots at the ready to scour the edges of space until we find her. I'm sad to say this isn't about the mission itself, but the reward that'll come with it. My boy Albert will be turning one soon and our house is already falling apart. We are going to leave him with his Aunt Becka until the mission is complete. Nothing should go wrong, because the new models of the Spear of Selene are twice as durable after the prototype got lost in the cosmic storm. We will be back before our son's birthday whether the mission is successful or not, and I know it's risky sending the both of us out, but we've been a team since Kindergarten. If anyone can get the job done it's my wife and I, two decorated pilots who graduated the top of our classes. Della was a force to be reckoned with as well, but unfortunately she liked to face her battles alone. Anyways, Albert, if we don't make it back for some reason just know we did it for you. We love you and hope that one day when you complete this journal all the way to this page you would understand.
Your father Alven Argyris
Louie wasn't sure what to make of this. Albert's parents was on the mission to find his mother. "But all of the pilots made it back right? What about his aunt? Why is he living in a place like this?" As if on cue, another note was found in the back of the book, though this was a letter detached from the journal.
It is with deep regret that I am unable to take care of this child. I have my whole life ahead of me, and I do not wish to spend it looking after my brother's next of kin. I hope that he finds a wonderful home through your orphanage, and I ask that you give this journal to him when he is old enough to read and write. It was my brother's journal and it was the only thing he had left the poor child. Just so you know my brother and his wife had disappeared on some space adventure and had been gone for a whole year. I am sure that they will not be returning. Please tell the boy his name is Albert Argyris.
"They didn't make it back," Louie's heart sank. "No, this can't be right." He headed out of the shack with the journal in hand. He needed to get to the bottom of this.
