Neb: I do not own Ducktales. Last chapter Violet had raised some good points about Albert and his motivations. Huey and Violet have now come to the conclusion in order to get information they need to force it out of him. Instead of choosing a physical confrontation however, they plan on doing it through a bet. If they can beat Albert in Duck Calling. Then maybe they can learn about his past and resolve whatever issues he might have against the triplets.
Dewey and Webby were now the ones in the back of the new black, the Darkflare, plane heading over the Atlantic Ocean. Della was obviously the pilot and Scrooge was by her side checking over the Star Chart.
"The downside about this artifact is it doesn't really start up until night time," Scrooge admitted. "Luckily I already know where we are headed."
"We already did Atlantis, so what could it be this time?" Dewey wondered.
"There are portals and rifts along the oceans," Scrooge explained. "Some lead to mystical worlds, others lead to dark hellscapes."
"Cool," the three of them exclaimed.
"Yes, well we'll be avoiding the hellscapes," Scrooge pointed out as he polished his glasses.
"Boo," the three of them responded next.
"But that does mean we are going to a mystical world," Webby pointed out.
"Are we going to be trying space travel again in the future?", Della wondered.
"Not after last time no," Scrooge shook his head. "We lost you and we lost a few fine pilots I sent up after you."
Everyone was silent after that. At least until Della turned her head to him.
"We lost other pilots when you were looking for me?", Della realized.
"The ships weren't really suppose to travel far," Scrooge explained. "But some pilots took the opportunity of going into the space the same as you did. They went as far as flying to other planets like Mars and Venus."
"And they didn't come back?", Dewey wondered.
"Most of them did," Scrooge nodded. "Others were lost like Della."
"Well what the heck," Della yelled. "Why didn't you tell me, I would have set up a rescue mission a long time ago had I known."
"We just got you back," Scrooge argued. "I wasn't sure what to say. The company had cut off my budget for keeping track of those ships. They ordered every single one of them to come back and all of the Spears that I sent into space were torn apart for scrap and sold to put as much money as they could back into the company. Of course that was when Bradford was in charge of things."
"Man I really wish I could hit that guy," Della growled. "Or got the chance last time we went up against him. Never keep secrets from me again!"
"I won't," Scrooge shouted. "I promise."
Dewey went over to the cockpit to cheer his mother up as Webby went to Scrooge to cheer her father up.
"So what are we looking for again?", Webby changed the subject.
"There should be a portal hanging out North that will lead us to the Lost City of Caesars," Scrooge explained.
"That's one of the cities of gold," Webby squealed with glee.
"Exactly Webbigail," Scrooge smirked. "Once we find this place I'll need a bigger money bin." Scrooge laughed for a moment before looking back at the Star Chart.
"I'm setting up a rescue mission the moment we get back home," Della pushed. "If the City of Gold will give you that much money, then it should be enough to fund a new rescue mission. I'll go to Mars, Venus, or any other planets those Pilots got lost in."
"Della," Scrooge sighed. "A lot of those Pilots took the job because they wanted to escape Earth. Not all of them want to be rescued."
"How many got lost?", Dewey jumped in.
"Ten of them," Scrooge explained. "Two were confirmed... gone."
Tears welled up in Della's eyes. She should have done more research on what happened after she got stranded on the moon. She was so caught up in reuniting with her family, she didn't expect it to affect others this way.
Dewey hugged his mother. "It's ok mom, it's not your fault. It's not Scrooge's fault either. He was doing whatever it took to get you back."
"At what cost," Della pointed out. "I came back anyways."
