Neb: Rotating back to Huey. Albert had revealed his motivations to Louie, while Dewey and Webby are out of town on an adventure, and Huey is tending to Fenton and Penumbra's wounds from the battle against the Red Duck. The battle is starting to come full circle, yet the family remains separated during a crucial part of the war. Most unaware that there even is a war. That will change soon. I do not own Ducktales, I hope you all enjoy.
Huey was wrapping Fenton's arm in bandages as he, Penumbra, Gyro, Violet, Fenton, and Gandra sat in Gyro's lab.
"So do you guys want to explain what's going on?", Gandra Dee asked. She was also checking on Fenton, while Gyro was flashing a light in Penumbra's eye.
"You know I'm not a medical Dr. right," Gyro pointed out with an eye roll.
The group remained silent after that.
"Seriously, what is going on?", Gandra wondered. "First your brother wanted me to hack into Bradford's laptop, and now you guys show up with my boyfriend badly injured."
"Oh it's not that bad," Fenton assured as he tried to remain energetic, but then grabbed his right arm and winced.
"Why did Louie want Bradford's laptop?", Huey wondered.
"I suspect he's running his own separate investigation," Violet figured.
"On what?", Gandra wondered. "The Argyris family?"
"What do you know about this?", Violet questioned Gandra.
"I know a few pilots got lost in space looking for Della Duck," Gandra explained. "I know Bradford and Scrooge were arguing over email about costs for that project. Outside of that, I know nothing. Your turn."
"We've been running into trouble with a red duck kid named Albert Argyris," Huey explained. "He's been organizing a group out of our old enemies. He's recruited Steelbeak, Magica, and a guy called Negaduck."
"Negaduck?"
"That's right," Violet nodded. "Our investigation was to find out Albert's motives. We knew he was mad about his initial deal with Louie over the Medusa's gauntlet, but I wasn't convinced that was the soul reason. While he hasn't explained his true motive, he had confirmed his disdain for Hubert, Louie, and Dewford goes beyond his initial sale with Louie."
"That's why he made me ask out Lena," Huey continued. "He wanted to make things awkward for our group, making it so we didn't have a powerful sorceress on our side."
"You asked out Lena?", Gandra responded.
"Focus," Huey shook his head.
"Right, but why that?", Gandra responded.
"To make things awkward," Huey repeated. "I don't know why he chose that route, of all routes, but we haven't seen Lena since, so it must have worked."
"About that," Violet responded. "We might need you to bring Lena back to the group. Especially now that Magica is involved."
"She took down your robot like he was nothing," Penumbra nodded.
"I'm not a robot," Fenton pointed out before grabbing his arm again.
"Don't move," Huey sighed as he continued to bandage Fenton. "Can't you just call her?"
"I can," Violet nodded. "But she has been dodging phone calls... per usual. Perhaps if you speak with her again she'll feel less awkward."
"You should go on that date with her," Gandra figured. "That'll break the ice."
"That all has something to do with Albert's plan," Huey groaned. "I'm not playing into his hands again."
"I agree with Gandra," Violet agreed. "At the very least it brings Lena back to the group, then we can properly deal with Magica."
"And I'll take care of the other two," Penumbra grinned. "The Earther with the metal beak broke my spear, and the other one chucked a bomb at me."
"You two are in no condition to be fighting them again," Gandra figured.
"I second that," Fenton agreed. "But, we can't just let criminals run around freely, doing whatever they please. The Negaduck fellow has it out for Darkwing."
"So what should we do here?", Gyro wondered. "Do I have to consider magic when upgrading the Gizmoduck suite? Maybe we should all wait for Mr. McDuck to return from his adventure, and let him solve this."
"It might be too late by then," Penumbra pointed out. "The enemy could strike again at any other moment."
"Ok I'm not helping you anymore unless she chills," Gyro crossed his arms.
"She's taking this loss a little hard," Huey explained.
"I didn't lose," Penumbra yelled. "He threw a bomb at me. Just wait until I have my own gun with me, I'll show that spineless coward."
"Let's dial it back," Fenton reasoned. "Um.. but the only plan we have is Lena. Not unless Manny decides to come back."
"Oh I'll call him," Gyro nodded as he pulled out his phone and walked away.
"That could solve things," Violet agreed. "But I still think Huey and Lena should at least talk if nothing else. Get her up to speed on what's all happened."
"It's not going to be a date," Huey groaned.
"So then you agree," Violet nodded. "I'll text her, sense she wont pick up my calls."
"Wait hold on a minute," Huey responded. The group all looked back at him and then he sighed. "Fine, I'm great at event planning anyways. Besides this is just rekindling our friendship. Nothing actually serious."
"If that is what you are most comfortable with," Violet agreed. "I'm not forcing you to do anything you don't want. I'm simply attempting to undo the damages Albert has caused."
"Fine," Huey agreed. He turned to Fenton and Penumbra. "Are you two going to be ok?"
"I've suffered worse," Penumbra assured.
"I to have suffered worse," Fenton agreed.
There were a couple new rides that had opened up at the Pier. A new roller coaster, a fun house of mirrors, the new Ferris Wheel not made by Glomgold, and the pendulum ride.
Huey was reluctant at first to take Lena there, but he couldn't think of any place else. It should be fun, I mean they were just friends right.
"Well it's not a library or a card tournament," Lena shrugged. "Good first attempt."
"So I got this whole agenda together on where we should go during what time," Huey explained as he pulled out a book from his hat that was different from his usual Jr. Woodchuck guidebook. This one was more journal like with some calendar aspects.
"Ok Huey, don't go all robotic on me now," Lena laughed. "We'll start with the pendulum ride."
"W-what?", Huey responded. "We were supposed to start with the fun house."
Lena rolled her eyes before pulling him along through the pier.
The two of them started with the pendulum ride, which as the name suggests was swinging them back and forth in such a force that it made Huey feel a little sick to his stomach. Lena however was shouting with joy the whole time. She enjoyed anything that was extreme.
"I think you should have gone with Webby," Huey figured as he stumbled around dizzy.
"Oh don't be a baby," Lena laughed. "Come on, let's try an actual roller coaster now."
It was a chaotic day for Huey, as none of the rides they did lined up with the timeline he created in his agenda. But still, but the third ride they went on, Huey was starting to enjoy himself also. He completely forgot about the journal and was screaming with joy just like Lena.
"That's better," Lena smiled. "Just go with the flow, we're just two friends hanging out."
"Y-your right," Huey admitted. The two of them were on the Ferris Wheel now, as it took them up higher and higher. "I don't normally do these things, even with my brothers. Dewey's always been more of the exciting triplet when it comes to this kind of chaos."
"I think you three need to get out of your comfort zones more often," Lena sighed. "You guys don't have to be complete opposites of each other all the time."
"I know that," Huey sighed. "And we aren't opposites all the time."
"Please, I've never seen you do anything evil, Dewey do anything smart, or Louie take any giant leaps of faith when adventuring. I mean for the heck of it, not because any of you were backed into a corner."
"Ok maybe we are opposites all the time," Huey admitted. "But there's nothing wrong with playing to our strengths."
"Didn't Louie break a satellite when he was richest duck?", Lena pointed out. "Also didn't Dewey and your mom destroy a whole bunker?"
"Where did you hear about?... Oh wait Webby."
"Look I'm not trying to tell you all how to live your lives, but you guys could stand to learn a few lessons from each other. Imagine what you could do with Louie's ambition or Dewey's energy."
"Ok, you have a point," Huey admitted. "But I do have those things, when it comes to Jr. Woodchuck stuff, or finding adventures. Also what about you, Webby, and Violet? The three of you don't exactly reflect each other either."
"Well no, but we all are connected with magic," Lena explained. "Sure, I'm not into reading like the other two are, at least not at the same level as them. Violet isn't really a party girl, and Webby's social skills needed work for a while, but we aren't opposites of each other. We all learned to like the same things. Yet outside of adventures, you and your brothers seem to want to stay as afar away from what each other enjoys."
Huey wasn't sure how to respond to that. It was true that the triplets interests remained divided. Louie wanted fortune, Dewey wanted fame, and Huey wants knowledge.
"Again it's not a bad thing to want to be seen in a different light then your brothers," Lena reexplained. "I'm not even sure why I'm pointing this out."
"It's just like you said," Huey sighed. "We'd accomplish our goals easier if we weren't stuck in our own ways. I'd have a whole wealth of knowledge if I'd just go for things like Dewey does. I appreciate your criticisms, and I'll think about them."
Lena smiled before staring forwards at the scenery of Duckberg, everything looked so small from up on the Ferris Wheel. That was when a crash could be heard in the distance.
Huey and Lena turned their heads to see Magica appearing from purple smoke as she hovered above them.
"Magica?", Lena yelled.
"Lena," Magica grinned. "Good to see you again deer. Do you mind handing the boy over?"
"W-what? Why? No, I won't," Lena shouted at the sorceress.
"Pity," Magica tsked. "This will be more fun anyways." She waved her hands causing the Ferris Wheel to bend underneath them.
Lena transformed into her super sorceress form as she begun to glow blue. "You really think you can take me?"
"Please I can run circles around you," Magica grinned as she waved her staff.
"Don't get baited," Albert called out to her by a nearby popcorn stand. "Remember why your here."
Magica rolled her eyes and then waved her staff again causing Huey to float up away from Lena.
Lena levitated towards Huey and grabbed him before flying towards the pier to drop him off.
Magica flew after her and then threw purple balls of flame at her former shadow.
Lena created a shielding of magic behind herself as she defended from Magica's attacks.
"She is powerful," Albert admitted. He waved his own magic rings as a dragon made of wind formed in front of himself. He hurled the dragon at Lena from the other side causing her to drop Huey.
"Huey," Lena yelled. She raised her arms causing Huey to float up again, but then was smacked on the back of the head by Magica's staff. Both Lena and Huey fell onto the pier, luckily they were close enough to the ground they didn't suffer any significant damages.
"What do you want with me?", Huey growled as he got to his feet.
"To capture you of course," Albert smiled. "I was going to take Louie before, but he chose better bodyguards than you did."
Huey looked at Lena who was rubbing her head as she tried to stand. His eyes turned red as the Duke begun to surface in his mind again. Huey charged at Albert and grabbed hold of the red duck.
Albert fell back, but he created a dragon of water from under the pier and pushed the two of them upwards with a geyser, then he had the water dragon smack Huey back towards the pier with it's tail. "Good try, but brute strength alone won't beat me."
"Huey," Lena called out before flying towards Albert.
Magica got in her way and then pushed Lena back with her own purple aura. "Poor sad, pathetic, little, Lena! Can't help your dear friend?"
Lena blasted Magica back as her own blue aura flared up. She was pissed now and wanted nothing more then to blast Magica into oblivion.
"Why you little," Magica growled.
"Magica," Albert called out. "Leave her to me."
"I can take her," Magica argued.
"I'm sure you can," Albert nodded. "But securing the target take priority. I promise you will get your deserved vengeance when the time is right. Against the whole family, not just your shadow."
Magica stared at Albert for a moment and then nodded. "I will hold you to that." A strong wind formed around Magica as she grabbed on to Huey."
"No," Lena yelled as she flew at them.
Albert created his wind dragon again and increased the air pressure against Lena, keeping her away from Magica.
Before Lena new it, Huey and Magica were gone. "Huey!", Lena called out. "Where did Aunt Magica take him?" She was angry, and the only person she could take it out on at the moment was Albert. "Talk!"
"No," Albert shook his head. "I'm not giving anymore information to your family. If you all want Huey back, I want the Star Charts and the Medusa's gauntlet upon Scrooge's arrival. I'll let him finish his current adventure, but if he takes longer then a day upon his return, poor Huey will suffer."
Lena's eyes widened, and then they glowed blue as her aura turned into a blue flame. She created a large beam of manna and fired it at Albert.
Albert simply side stepped it as he used his own wind magic under his heels. "Fine, let's fight then." Albert grinned before turning around and running.
"I thought you said you were going to fight," Lena yelled after him, before flying after the boy.
Albert made his way into the the mirror maze of the fun house. "I surprised you guy's didn't start with this place? It seemed more logical to go to slower easier attractions and then work your way up towards the more dangerous rides. I'm sure Huey would agree with me."
"Until you give him back, you don't get to talk about him," Lena yelled. She looked around through the mirrors and grunted as she realized he led her into a trap.
"Those beams of light were interesting," Albert laughed. "Good luck firing them in here."
"Just fight me normally," Lena yelled. She looked around, she couldn't see Albert, but she could hear him.
"Please you don't want to fight," Albert smirked. "You just want your friend back. In order to do that, you have to deliver my message."
"I'm going to pummel you until you tell me where he is," Lena threatened the boy. She could feel wind blow from all around her as the entrance to the maze closed. "I'm not scared of your magic rings. The only reason you were able to fight me was because my Aunt Magica was with you."
"I don't fear your power either," Albert growled. "The magic of friendship is a gross power, and so unreliable. Huey was your friend right, and yet you were unable to protect the poor boy."
"Shut up!"
"You were supposed to defend them from Magica and you failed," he continued to taunt.
Lena felt her powers wavering as she begun to go back to her base form.
"Just imagine when you explain to your friends how you lost him," Albert chuckled. "I bet they'll hate you."
"You're wrong!"
"What if Webbigail hates you?", Albert laughed.
"Stop it!"
"You know why I sent Magica away?", Albert quizzed. "Because she brings out the better side of you. I mean, when you see someone so heinous, all that's left is to act high and mighty. But you're no different from her are you shadow?"
"I'm not her shadow anymore," Lena argued as she tried calling her powers back to herself. Something was off, she felt drained for some reason and couldn't transform. "Is this really why you had Huey ask me out? I thought you were just trying to humiliate him, but you were getting us alone?"
"Don't give me that much credit," Albert shook his head. "I could never predict that you two actually would go on a date. I was just stirring up trouble. You see, I've studied everyone in your big and powerful family. Everyone had their own strengths and weaknesses, but you, you're just chock full of flaws. You're fearful, you're doubtful, you're imbalanced."
"Shut up," Lena yelled again.
"You need people to make you feel powerful," Albert continued to berate. "And yet those same people are your undoing. I couldn't have touched you before that card tournament, after all, you were all at your strongest when you were together. So I broke the dynamic and made Huey ask you out. That severed any ties of friendship that bound your group together, at least for a little while."
Lena's blue aura started turning purple as her feathers begun to turn green. She was angry, and all she wanted to do now was incinerate Albert.
"Now look in a mirror," Albert finished.
Lena turned her head to see a younger form of Magica staring back at her. But it wasn't Magica, it was her own reflection. "No... No!"
Albert took her confusion as a moment to come out of his hiding place and blast her with a water dragon. Lena was knocked out cold from the surprise attack. "Too easy."
