Welcome back everyone to chapter three. Before we start the votes are in. In third place we have earth magic. Honestly thought that would have gotten more votes. Tied for second place is fire and wind! And finally, in a landslide victory and a shock to no one besides Jack's enemies. The winner is…

Lightning!

Thank you everyone for voting, now I just want to go over some reviews before we start.

IdleManRPG-Yeah, I do plan on a major cause and effect soon, one that honestly could have happened in the show.

Ben Turner1-Good point, I may make it, so he loses XP or items if does that for balancing reasons. Plus, the feeling of dying may have some effect on his choices.

DragonKing49- Thank you, all I ask is a fair chance like everyone else.

Leaf Ranger-Don't worry about being torn, regardless of the vote's winner Jack was going to be taking on cons eventually. Although Lightning will have an advantage I'll admit.

I don't own Transformers Prime, If I did Season four would have had Space pirates as villains.

Second Street

It was late in the evening as a blue motorcycle and red dodge challenger drove down Second Street. That wouldn't been noteworthy if it wasn't for two things. One both where driving slow as if they were looking for something, and two, both of them had a matching red insignia. It was then a radio broke out.

"Arcee, Cliffjumper, have you found the source of that strange energy reading?"

"Negative Ratchet. Are you sure this wasn't another glitch?" Came from the Motorcyclist.

"I'm quite sure Arcee. The energy readings while short were nothing like our sensors picked up before. Combined with the fact there were two of them in less than an hour only strengthens their existence."

"I don't know Doc, so far there's nothing but buildings and road. There aren't even any humans out right now." This time the driver from the challenger spoke up.

"Your right in front of where the first one appeared. Do you see anything?" Ratchet asked.

"Yes Ratchet. We see a manhole cover. Unless the cons have recruited minicons I doubt they are holding up in a sewer. Besides I doubt even Arcee could squeeze in there and she's the smallest."

"Just remember that the next timer we spar Cliff." Arcee spoke up causing him to chuckle.

"Find the other source, perhaps it moved." Ratchet suggested.

Moving over to the second location Arcee radioed in. "It's another manhole cover, Ratchet. Are we sure we're not chasing ghost?"

"I am sure, do a seismic scan and return to base. We'll figure out what to do from there."

"Alright Doc bot. Come on Cee, we better head back."

"Right behind you Cliff."

Meanwhile at the Darby residence Jack was in his room. The lights were off, and his curtains were drawn, leaving his room in complete darkness. Yet he could see as clear as day, looking at his new ring, The Ring of the Rat, that he got from defeating Plague Spreader he decided to test it when he got home. After a couple of tests, he found that he could activate the [Night Eye] perk like he could with any other power. All together he found it to be better than his flashlight, he'll still keep it in his inventory, along with a couple batteries just in case. Better to have it and not need it right? His main goal right now was to finish the [First steps] quest. He was only 487 XP away from level five. He wasn't planning to go to any dungeon any time soon. After dealing with Plague Spreader and all those rats Jack decided to buff up his stats and skills before going into another one.

[For a well reasoning +1 WIS]

"That will never stop being annoying." Jack moaned out. Hearing the garage door open Jack walked out to greet his mother.

"Hey mom how was work today?"

June gave Jack a tired smile. "Oh, nothing much today, thankfully. Most of it was patients who are recovering from surgery or an illness. And no new patients are always a relief."

"That's good. So, what do you want for dinner tonight? I'll cook."

June gave amused laugh. "Sweetie if I wanted our house burned down, I would have simply lit a match."

"Hey, I'm not that bad and I know how to cook." 'Well, if you count whatever the heck the K.O. burgers were." Jack thought to himself.

June cocked an eyebrow at that. "First those K.O. burgers don't count since I doubt, they were even close to actual food. And second, remember the chicken patties incident."

A now blushing Jack just muttered. "The math made sense and I was ten."

"Jack increasing the temperature doesn't make it cook faster. Tell you what I'll cook, and you can do the dishes fair?"

"Fair. But just you wait, I'll cook up something amazing for us to eat and then you will regret ever doubting my cooking skills." June smiled and walk in the kitchen. "Sure honey. Sure."

Raising an eyebrow Jack press yes. It seems that he'll be cooking for four instead of two. Doesn't matter, what does matter thought is showing his mom he could cook a decent meal and with his new powers it will be easy.

And just like that a sense of guilt washed over Jack. He nearly died today. He nearly died and left his mother alone. It was just them after his father disappeared. He remembers how heartbroken she was, and it took months for his grandparents on both sides to console her. And now he nearly did the same. He would have been dead and eaten by monster rats all while June would had no clue what happened to him. The mere thought made Jack's stomach twist in a painful way.

'But if I don't do this then I won't be ready for whatever is going to happen in the future." He wasn't a fool, even before he increased his INT. This power was like any video game, and there was some kind of boss or event coming he needs to be ready for. As much as he hates it this is the only way. While he did risk his life and nearly died, he also became stronger. He gained skills he didn't have before. He had to do this, there was no turning back now.

[For understanding that life can sometimes give tough choices and difficult decisions.]

Sighing Jack is now convinced that the system is sentient, well at least it cares about him. Or at the very least sympathize with him. Walking to the dining room table Jack sat down to talk with his mother.

"So, now that the K.O. burger is gone what are you planning to do now?" June asked.

"Honestly, I'll probably do odd jobs around town and learn some new skills here and there." It wasn't a lie exactly; he will be doing all that he just will be doing it in a really unique way.

[A lie is still a lie no matter how dressed up it is.]

'Gee, thanks for making me bad." Jack thought to himself. Sure, he's happy for the new skill but it didn't have to make him feel like an ass.

"Have you thought of going to the rec-center?"

"The rec-center? I haven't thought of that, do you think that would help?"

"It should, I know they have classes on certain days. You should try it, maybe you'll find something that would look nice on a college application."

"I'll be sure to check it out." For the rest of the night the two talked and joke with each other. A happy night for the family of two.

Jasper's Rec Center

It was now Sunday morning and Jack found himself at the town's rec-center. Overall, he was glad his mom mentioned this place. The most notable rooms were the indoor pool, the exercise room, a gym that has a basketball, tennis, and volleyball court next to each other with a track encircling them. There were other rooms too but from he was told they were shared with various subjects. He even signed up for gym membership and a cooking class on Thursday nights, anything to help with his current cooking quest. Right now, he was at the track thinking a light run would be a good start. Honestly after half hour it was already paying off.

It was a good start, but he will need to work on his strength stat, seems like running alone won't be enough. Shrugging his shoulders Jack kept at it, his goal for now was level up running to level three. About an hour and a couple of breaks to catch his breath he managed it.

Jack smiled after finally catching his breath, overall, not bad. Walking to the weight room he realized his stamina meter didn't go down once during his run, it seems it's meant to keep track of him using special moves like [Stun Bash] and the like. Unfortunately, he was brought out of his thoughts by a very annoying voice.

"Hey Dorky, what are you doing here? I thought you be moping about not being able to flip burgers anymore." Vince taunted, his two cronies laughing with him.

"One, I'm here to exercise like everyone else Vince. Two, at least I don't depend on my daddy's money like a certain red head I know." Jack shot back. Vince has been a pain in his side since pre-K and it only gotten worse.

"What did you just say? You think just because you showed up here means anything loser. Your nothing but a burger flipping loser whose dad ran away." Vince shot back. That last one struck a chord with Jack. Ever since his father's disappearance Jack have been touchy about it. While most of the time he would try to ignore the comments, but Vince always seemed to irk him more than anyone else.

"Whatever Vince, if your done I have better things to do." Jack said as he tried to walk away, he had stats to grind and unless he gets a skill in patience, he was wasting his time. Well, he would have if Vince hadn't got in his way.

"Not so fast Darby, if you want to stay here you have to prove it."

"Last I checked this was a public building owned by the town, not some carrot top punk." Vince scowled at and begun to open his mouth, but whatever he was about to say was interrupted.

"Hey, is there a problem here." The teens looked to see a tall athletic man walking up to them. He was wearing a training shirt and shorts with the building's logo and an ID card with the words "Head Instructor" on it. He had short cropped blonde hair and brown eyes.

"No, no sir we were just trying to get our friend here to try the rock wall." Vince said.

"Really, and this wouldn't be you and your friends trying to, what was it again, "prove that they can be here" again would it now Axel?" The tone of the man's voice was calm, but one could hear an edge to it.

"No not at all sir. Just a small race between school friends." Vince hastily replied. His two cronies nodding their heads.

"Really now." He turned his head to Jack. "Do you want to race them? It's completely up to you dude. We push but we don't force around here."

"I'm game." Jack replied as he tapped yes. Normally he may have backed down seeing it wasn't worth the effort. But between Vince's remarks and the reward he couldn't say no.

"All right let's head over there. I'll be watching this race, so that any accidents won't happen." The man said, sending a small glare at he three. Vince and the others immediately started walking to the wall. Seeing them a further way the man turns to Jack.

"Are you sure about this? I remember what it was like to be a teen kid, but I'm in charge and I have to make sure people stay safe."

Jack just smiled at the man. "Thanks, but I'm sure, guys like Vince need to learn to back off."

"You got spirit. I like that. Names Jabidah Springs, but most called be Jab or Springs it doesn't matter to me as long they stay out of trouble." The man introduced himself.

"Jack Darby, and thanks Springs. Does he do that a lot." Jack asked as they walked to the rock wall.

"He's on his second strike, another and he would be banned for six months from the rec-center. We don't take kindly to bullies and those who think muscles are for pushing those around."

"Yeah, that sounds like Vince. I'm surprised he didn't get banned sooner."

"No, we have a three strikes rule, the only way someone gets banned right off the bat is commenting a crime or endangering a life. And those bans are normally permanent."

Jack nodded as he decided to use observe on Springs.

[Jabidah "Jab" Springs]

[Race: Human]

[Title: Head Instructor]

[LVL: ?]

Well, that was what he expected. The only reason he knows Springs' title is because he was wearing his ID card. They reach the rock wall and Jack saw it was about twenty feet tall and thirty feet wide. People were climbing vertically and horizontally. A couple fell here and there but the large cushions at the bottom prevented any serious injuries.

"Alright boys this will be a simple race to the top. You four will spread out giving each other room. There will be no interfering or cheating in anyway, doing so will get you a strike or depending on the action out right banned from the center. When I say go you may start." Jeb explained as the four got ready.

"You're going down Dorky." Vince whispered to Jack.

"Bring it Axel." He shot back. Taking this opportunity Jack used observe to see how tough this will be.

"If it wasn't for Ring of the Rat and Amulet of the Snow Hare his DEX would be higher than mine but I just beat his by one point. Hopefully it will be enough." Jack thought to himself, was it cheating? Not really since he earned his bonuses, plus Vince would have if they weren't being watched. Getting ready Jack got a decent hold.

"Alright on go! Three! Two! One! GO!" Jab Announced. The four started climbing but after a minute the two cronies fell off. Jack would have to admit the climb was harder than he thought it would be. So far it was neck and neck between him and Vince, while he was faster Vince was stronger by a lot and that was allowing him climb easier. They were at the halfway point and Jack was starting to gain the lead it wasn't easy though because Vince was right behind him. Unfortunately, Jack slipped causing him to fall, but he managed to catch himself, leaving a couple of feet behind Vince.

"Ha! Eat it loser!" The red head cried out making it to the last quarter of the climb. Vince knew he was going to win hands down. Darby was just a nobody to someone like him and he was going to win. But it seemed like karma was about strike as Vince missed a hand hold causing him to fall and unlike Jack, he couldn't catch himself leaving him land on the cushions below. Jack finally made it to the top nearly out of breath.

"Ha, now this is a surprised. Well, you did great kid, if you ever have questions or an issue just fine me. Also, if you want to keep going try to climb from one side to the other. It's a great way to push yourself." Jab said as he walked away. Looking at the stat increases he got Jack decided to go with Springs' advice. Plus, it was fun to try to get to one side to the other. Overall, this have been great. He nearly got his stats up to Vince's, except for strength. Vince's strength was insane, which he made a note not to get in a fist fight with the guy. Honestly Jack decided to call it for a day, it was already noon and he wanted to study his textbooks, his skill in academics is still a high school grade B, he's hoping to get them to a B+ or an A-. It was for that reasoning he was at the local library; well, he could have done it at home, but the library had a twenty-five percent XP bonus to all academic skills, so he chose this place. After he of studying there for an hour…

[Ding]

That was just as exhausting as the workout, but Jack was happy, he was now a B+ in most of his classes and even an A- in two of them. Taking a break, he looked over at the public computers, an idea formed in his head. Logging on Jack looked of crystals and Jasper, in hopes of finding someone who could help with the one he found. After ten minutes or so browsing over spiritual websites, jasper gemstones, and jewelry he found something. An old photo of a mining site that was an hour or so out of town. According to the website it was call black canyon ridge, back when Jasper was founded a family of miners owned the land, the mine was a main source of the town's revenue but in the fifty's the mine collapse trapping everyone inside. While a few people were saved after two weeks of digging it was deemed too dangerous to continue. The mine was shut down and abandon ever since. It wasn't what he was looking for, but it may be a clue, or another dungeon.

That made Jack pause. Did he really want to rush to another dungeon? Sure, he did work on his stats today, but he still didn't want to go to the next one before completing the [First Steps] quest. The rewards for it are too much to pass up, plus he lost his bat in the [Rat's Nest] so he only has his grandpa's knife. Another matter was how he was going to get there. The place was an hour away by car and he doesn't think his mom will drive him off to an abandon mine.

"No, I'll print out the location, but I won't go until I level up and increases my stats and supplies. First order of business is a new weapon, maybe another bat but a metal one this time, depending on the damage and durability, then I will find ways to get XP to finally reach level five. Once I do, I'll go to the mine on the weekend, I'll tell mom I'm on a camping trip. I done that before, so she won't expect anything."

Ignoring that he went home. He had school tomorrow maybe he could find a way to level up then.

The next day. Jasper High

If there was one thing Jack liked about Mondays, it would be gym class. Sure, it was the first class of the day but at least he doesn't have science with Dr. Vector now. He was lined up with the other boys waiting for the P.E. teacher to finish with the attendance.

"Alright students, today we will be having track and field. We will rotate between track, throwing, and jumping. Although jumping is limited due to safety concerns. I will be splitting you up in groups a, b, and c. Group a will start on the track, group b will be on the field, and group c will be at the long jump." After a minute of sorting Jack found himself at the track. Looking at the group he was with they were all average in built except for one of the football players, it seems the couch kept most the athletes in one group and put him hear as motivation.

Pressing yes Jack knew he wasn't going to get first place, the football player had thirty-five in DEX, but he was definitely going to try and get second. Getting in line he waited for the coach to say go. The moment the coach said go they were off. Most of the group barely got more than a slow jog, honestly it was difficult as it turns out one of the guys actually trying like to go on jogs round town. In the end Jack did get second place but only by a hare's breath.

"While most of you could have put some effort in to this but otherwise good job. Douglas great job as always, Darby nice hustle, Smith valiant effort. Alright let's get to the field."

Jack smiled at that, now he was only eight points from leveling up. Moving to the next event everyone lined up. "Alright this is simple, you will get three throws, your goal is to get to the center of the bullseye. The outer ring is five points, the middle is ten points, and the center is fifteen points."

It was a win for Jack no matter what, unless he misses all his throws he would be leveling up, but that doesn't mean he won't try for first. The XP gain was just too tempting. As they started throwing the discus many were doing decent. One guy missed his shots, but after that the lowest score was a twenty-five, and the highest is thirty-five, it was almost a perfect throw if the wind didn't take it at the last minute.

Taking the discus Jack did as he was taught and threw, the first one bounced and landed on the center, the second was a perfect bullseye, on the final throw it landed on the center but bounced and landed on the middle ring.

"Not bad Darby that netted you forty points and makes you the winner for this round."

Autobot Base

In Omega One Ratchet was going over the data Arcee and Cliffjumper collected. He let out a frustrated groan. "This is the fifth time I went over everything, yet still I haven't found anything." He's been up since last night and he still haven't found a reason for the strange power signal. Hearing steps behind him he turns to see Optimus walking up to him.

"Anything Ratchet?" The prime asked.

"Sadly, no Optimus. I have checked our sensors, our data, I even debugged our computers twice, but nothing could explain the signal we picked up. The only logical conclusion is an unknown energy reading popped up twice in a single hour." The medic explained.

"I'm afraid that that is all we can do at the moment, for now keep an optic on any similar signals."

"I'm already ahead of you Optimus, I calibrated our sensors to alert us." Ratchet replied. Optimus nodded his head thankful his old friend was being cautious. "Normally such a signal wouldn't warrant such actions.' Optimus thought to himself. "But due to it's close proximity to the base we can't take such a risk. If it is truly nothing or not, we will find out."

Empty plain outside of Jasper

School was out and Jack decided to go and train his magical skills. He couldn't do much with [Healing Veil] since it requires him being hurt but [Frost Darts] is another story. But first things first he's going to go over his rewards from [First Steps] quest. Opening up his inventory he pulled out the chest and a disc. That put a smile on Jack's face. This helped a lot in gear department, plus he didn't want to use his grandfather's knife unless he had to. And now that he's thinking about it, he needs to get it repaired as well. The last thing he would want is the knife breaking. Shaking his head Jack place all his new gear in his inventory before he got to work.

The first thing he did was step up targets by using the nearby rocks, once that was done, he started to blast them with [Frost Darts]. He kept at it until his mana ran out worth it as he leveled it up twice.

Overall, not bad for an hour's work. He would have to be careful when using the [Frost Bomb] though, it's a drain on his reserves on just five of them will drain him completely. Then again it seemed to be meant for multiple enemies at once so that was probably why it cost so much to cast. Heading home Jack wondered what kind of spells he could make. In all honestly, he wasn't even thinking of making a spell it was just curiosity of if he could hold a spell or not. But now that he could make spells maybe he could think of something. Soon he found himself at home. Walking in he was surprised to see his mother there.

"Mom? I thought you had work today."

"I did but there was a schedule change, so I have today off and work tomorrow. So where were you, school got out over an hour ago?" June asked.

"I was riding my bike, getting some exercise that kind of thing."

[Lie successful]

"You been on a bit of a health kick lately, any particular reason? A girl perhaps?" June smirked.

"Wha-what? No there's no girl honest. I just figure since I have more time now, I could squeeze some exercise in that's all." God why do mothers have the uncanny ability to embarrass their kids.

"Okay honey but if you do meet a girl, I would like to meet her. After all it would be nice to meet my future daughter in law." June teased.

"Mom." Jack groaned, really, he doubts that he'll be bringing a girl home any time soon. "Hey mom there was one thing I was wondering about?"

"What is it dear?"

"I was wondering if it was alright, if I go camping Friday night?" Jack asked.

That made June paused. Jack has went camping a couple of times by himself, but June was still a bit leery about it. After a couple of moments of thought she finally answered.

"How long do you plan on camping?"

"Friday night, maybe to Sunday morning. I haven't fully decided yet."

"Alright but I have a couple of rules. Bring a portable phone charger and call me two or three times a day. Also, if the weather is bad, you're not allow to go. Okay?" June answer.

Jack nodded his head; those were reasonable request and honestly, he wouldn't go if the weather was bad. He was still a low level and he did not what to know how the system would use the bad weather. Maybe some giant monster creating it or some powerful debuff. Either way he was not chancing that. Smiling the went to his room to do his homework.

Well, that's chapter three people. Funnily enough the original ending was going have police take Jack in for questioning and Jack having a quest to find who tried to frame him for burning down the K.O. Burger. But I scrapped that since it messed with the story's flow.

Have a wonderful day and feel free to review. Good bye!
