IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Alright, I know many of you thought this would be an update, but unfortunately, it's not.

I have an unfortunate announcement to make.

[ The Great Sage Equal to Heaven ] is officially going into indefinite hiatus.

But I suspect that some of you already knew that. In contrast, others waited and hoped there would be a chapter any day now.

It's been more than 2 years since the previous update, and instead of leaving all of you readers in the dark, I felt like I had to come out and inform you guys since this is my most popular fic on this site.

Trust me when I say that this wasn't an easy decision. But I honestly couldn't see a stable future for this story.

I had no solid plan. I added too much, set up way too many future arcs, and shoved in too many characters and concepts, some of which I had no interest in anymore but couldn't find a way to write them out.

Mori and the DXD cast were slowly becoming mischaracterized, and I skipped some plotlines just because I couldn't be bothered to rewrite them with Mori in them. GoH elements were disappearing, and DXD elements were underutilized.

After a while, I also had no idea what direction I wanted it to take and lost sight of why I was even writing this fic in the first place.

I got busy with IRL things, and writing chapters eventually felt like a chore. I burned out before I even touched the keyboard.

But that's probably for the best.

If I can't recognize and enjoy my work, my audience won't either.

So, to save all of you from low-quality storytelling, I one day simply stopped and moved on to other projects.

Of course, [ The Great Sage Equal to Heaven ] will always be special to me since it's the first fic of mine that has the most followers/favorites/reviews/chapters/words and all that. Basically, it's the most successful one.

To my audience who have followed and enjoyed this story, I thank you and appreciate each and every one of you for taking time out of your day to read this, whether that be stumbling across this fic for the first time and following the updates, joining in late and binge-reading the entire thing, or simply re-reading all of it. Once again, I thank you very much for your interest.

Honestly, in an alternate universe, I probably did continue and complete the story.

However, despite [ The Great Sage Equal to Heaven ] coming to an end, that doesn't mean I've stopped or will ever stop writing about the Monkey King, Sun Wukong, in either fics or my own work.

With the hype surrounding the release of [ Black Myth: Wukong , I was inspired to create something new.

If interested, you can find it in the standard DXD section of this site. It incorporates some elements from [ The Great Sage Equal to Heaven , such as concepts, characters, and a plotline or two that I never got around to writing.

Wukong is very much the main protagonist again, and this time, this new version of Wukong is 100% original to me. I can write him as freely as I want without worrying about mischaracterizing him as I did with Mori.

There's also far more [ Journey to the West ] influence and elements to it than [ Great Sage ] ever did. So, if that interests you, then be sure to check it out.

And if you do play [ Black Myth , you might even see some familiar faces and perhaps even see them in a different light.

I probably have more to say, but I can't think of anything right now.
