Chapter 72: The Jedi Purge
Jedi Masters Mace Windu, Agen Kolar, Saesee Tiin and Kit Fisto were preparing to board a Jedi gunship that was heading to the Chancellor's office.
Anakin entered the hangar and walked up to Mace Windu.
"Master Windu, I must talk to you."Anakin responded.
"What is it, Anakin?"Mace Windu asked."We're in a hurry. We just received word from Commander Cody that Obi-Wan killed General Grievous. We're on our way to make sure Chancellor Palpatine returns his emergency powers back to the Senate."
"He won't give up his emergency powers, I just learned a terrible truth."Anakin admitted."I think Chancellor Palpatine is a Sith Lord."
"A Sith Lord?"Mace Windu asked.
"Yes."Anakin replied."The one we've been looking for since the Invasion of Naboo and who orchestrated the Clone Wars, Darth Sidious."
"How do you know this?"Mace Windu questioned.
"He knows the ways of the Force."Anakin answered."He's been trained to use the Dark Side."
"Are you sure?"Mace Windu asked.
"Absolutely."Anakin replied with a nod.
Mace Windu and Anakin started walking together again.
"Then our worst fears have been realised."Mace Windu declared simply."We must move quickly if the Jedi Order is to survive."
"Master Windu, Chancellor Palpatine's very powerful."Anakin commented."You'll need my help if you're going to arrest him."
"For your own good, stay out of this affair."Mace Windu insisted."I sense a great deal of confusion in you, young Skywalker. There is much fear that clouds your judgment."
"I must go, Master."Anakin suggested.
"No."Mace Windu replied in a firm tone."If what you told me is true, you will have gained my trust. But for now remain here."
"Yes, Master."Anakin answered.
"Wait for us in the Council Chamber until we return."Mace Windu ordered.
"Yes, Master."Anakin responded.
Anakin watched as the four Jedi masters left in their gunship, leaving him by himself in the hangar.
At the Vos Gesal Hotel, Nadia was visiting Satine in her apartment.
The former Duchess of Mandalore and the former Padawan of Obi-Wan were eating bowls of Tiingilar; a type of traditional Mandalorianstew made of meat, vegetables and spices.
"So it's true what they about this stew, Satine?"Nadia chuckled."Combining a hearty blend of meat and veg with a scorching seasoning mix, this concoction would make even the hardiest Mandalorian sweat themselves right outta that crazy armour of theirs."
Satine let out a soft chuckle.
"You've got that right, Nadia."Satine agreed."Though there is also a variant of the stew known as Yobshrimp Tiingilar Stew. But it was crafted from yobshrimp, pasta, and sausage."
"That sounds yummy as well."Nadia remarked.
After both of them are a bit more of the stews in their bowls, Satine and Nadia spoke to each other again.
"I heard that Ahsoka went to Sundari to help my sister capture Maul."Satine admitted.
"That's right."Nadia agreed."Captain Rex and part of the 501st Legion volunteered to a company her on the mission. If Maul is captured and General Grievous gets destroyed, this damn war is finally over and you get to be Duchess of Mandalore."
Satine let out a sigh.
"To be honest, Nadia."Satine responded."I don't feel like being Mandalore's ruler anymore."
A surprised look appeared on Nadia's face.
"How come?"Nadia questioned.
"I failed to really bring peace to Mandalore and nearly got assassinated by Death Watch."Satine admitted."Mandalore needs a better ruler. One that is strong, but can really set a good example."
Nadia ate a bit more of her stew before responding to her mother figure.
"How about your nephew, Korkie?"Nadia suggested with a small smirk."He seems like someone that could be Mandalore's future leader."
"That's a good point. But my nephew was more born with a promising future in politics."Satine admitted."He had served as a cadet at the prestigious Royal Academy of Government where Mandalore's future leaders were trained."
A scoff escaped from Nadia's mouth.
"Too bad the Senate didn't bother helping you and your home planet when you needed them the most."Nadia retorted."When the 'dark side' of human nature is not kept in check it can unleash a savage deadlier than any other animal, capable of the most heinous acts of depravity and destruction. Then again, I think some members of the Senate might have their vision clouded like the Jedi here because of-"
Nadia paused herself from finishing her sentence.
"Nadia?"Satine asked in concern."What's wrong?"
Nadia didn't respond to Satine as she start to think about Chancellor Palpatine.
He got Chancellor Valorum removed from office with Padmé's help when she was Queen of Naboo and then succeeded him.
Month after month, he got gained more and more 'emergency powers' and showed no sign of retiring. Even though his term has long since expired.
And if he started the whole incident on Naboo with Maul, it would explain how the Viceroys escaped jail even after they were caught out.
He let them slip through the system with technicalities and political maneuvering.
After that, he must have met Count Dooku and trained him as a Sith to help him get the Clone Wars started.
Only a Sith would be so ambitious to seize both power and secure the death of the Jedi as an Order in one move.
Nadia's eyes widen in shock as a horrible realisation hit her.
Palpatine was the Sith Lord, who had been secretly orchestrating the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems!
He played both sides of the conflict, fuelling the war in order to amass more power and influence.
As the war dragged on, Palpatine portrayed himself as a stabilizing force and champion of democracy, portraying the Jedi Order as the true villains.
He slowly consolidated power, taking on emergency wartime powers that he refused to relinquish.
Nadia then remembered what Fives said to her, Anakin, Rex and Ferus before he was killed.
"I swear to you, General and Commander! He is responsible for everything!"Fives protested."You have no idea! None of you do! You're all being fooled!"
Since the Clone Troopers were Darth Sidious' creation, it clearly meant the Jedi were forced to spread across the galaxy due to the war and with no way of knowing that their own troops could kill them at any time.
Nadia gave a sharp horrified gasp and quickly covered her mouth to keep her stomach bile in while trembling.
"Nadia, what's wrong?"Satine questioned, knowing something was not right with Nadia."You look so scared."
Nadia snapped out of her thoughts and gave Satine an anxious smile.
"Do I? S-Sorry, Satine!"Nadia apologised and stood up from her seat."I-I need to head back to the Jedi Temple! Something has come up! Thank you for the meal!"
Nadia then ran out of Satine's apartment, panic-driven and filled with fear.
"Hey, Nadia! Wait!"Satine shouted while standing up from her seat, confused at Nadia's sudden behaviour."Is everything alright?!"
The moment Nadia stepped out of Vos Gesal Hotel, she immediately started running to return back to the Jedi Temple.
"It all makes sense now!"Nadia thought in terror."No wonder he told me and Anakin about the Tale of Darth Plagueis back at the Galaxies Opera House! He wanted to make us his new puppets to replace Count Dooku and General Grievous! Fives, forgive me! I've been an idiot!"
Mace Windu, Agen Kolar, Saesee Tiin and Kit Fisto made their way to the office of Chancellor Palpatine.
The quartet were fully aware of the enormity of the burden ahead of them.
But neither of them didn't care since they needed to stop their deadly enemy before the Jedi Order could be destroyed.
The Jedi Masters strode into Palpatine's private office, where the Chancellor feigned surprise at their abrupt entry.
"Master Windu."Chancellor Palpatine said with a smile."I take it General Grievous has been destroyed then. I must say you're here sooner than expected."
"In the name of the Galactic Senate of the Republic...you're under arrest, Chancellor."Mace Windu stated sternly.
The four Jedi masters activated their lightsabers.
Chancellor Palpatine frowned. "Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?"
"The Senate will decide your fate."Mace Windu admitted.
"I am the Senate!"Chancellor Palpatine growled.
"Not yet."Mace Windu replied.
Accusing the Jedi of treason, the Sith Lord deployed his own lightsaber from his sleeve and ignited it.
"It's treason then."Chancellor Palpatine answered with a grim look.
With a ferocious snarl, Darth Sidious leapt over his desk and landed in front of the Jedi.
Agen Kolar and Saesee Tiin were cut down in seconds by the Sith Lord.
Kit Fisto managed to fend off Darth Sidious's initial strikes, but he too was killed.
With his entire strike force destroyed, Mace Windu was left alone to contend with the Dark Lord.
Darth Sidious drove Mace Windu back along the corridor to his public office, where the Jedi Master managed to pull him into a blade lock.
As their battle took them towards the center of the room, Anakin's air speeder touched down outside.
The Jedi Knight had meditated on his thoughts in the Council Chambers and he felt as though he could not bear to let Darth Sidious meet his death at the hands of the Jedi.
At least, not before teaching him the secrets of Darth Plagueis to save Padmé from death.
As Anakin ran through the halls of the Senate Office Building, Darth Sidious unleashed a rapid series of fruitless attacks against Windu, and was driven back into the office by his opponent's steady offensive strikes.
Mace Windu guided the battle across the office towards the bay window, shattering the transparisteel with missed strikes.
As they moved out onto the wind-blown ledge, the duelists engaged in a brief flurry of bladework, but Mace Windu managed to end the bout with a swift and precise kick to the Sith Lord's jaw.
Darth Sidious was thrown off balance, staggering back and dropping his lightsaber which flew out the window, flailed for balance before retreating against the window frame.
The Sith Lord was now at the Jedi Master's mercy, who held his blade to his throat.
"You are under arrest, my lord."Mace Windu declared.
However, having arrived too late to see the Sith Lord's intent, Anakin saw only a helpless Chancellor cowering before Mace Windu.
"Anakin, I told you it would come to this. I was right."Darth Sidious admitted."The Jedi are taking over."
"The oppression of the Sith will never return."Mace Windu declared."You have lost."
"No, no, no...YOU WILL DIE!"Darth Sidious growled sinisterly.
In response, Darth Sidious hurled Force lightning at Mace Windu, only for him to deflect it back at the Dark Lord with his lightsaber.
Anakin shielded his eyes from the lightning.
"He's a traitor!"Darth Sidious shouted.
"He is the traitor!"Mace Windu yelled out.
Mace Windu and Darth Sidious continued to fight, forcing Anakin to choose between the Jedi and the Sith.
"I have the power to save the one you love!"Darth Sidious said weakly."You must choose!"
This caused Anakin to glare at Mace Windu.
"Don't listen to him, Anakin!"Mace Windu shouted.
Mace Windu wielded his lightsaber tightly as he struggled against the Sith Lord's Force Lightning.
"Don't let him kill me."Darth Sidious cried out in a fake weak tone.
The redirected current hit Sidious, deforming his face, yet he continued to uphold the barrage.
Eventually, the lightning subsided and Darth Sidious lay on the floor, feigning weakness and begging for mercy.
"I can't hold it any longer! I can't! I'm weak!"Darth Sidious cried out."I'm too weak, Anakin! Help me, help me! I can't hold on any longer!"
The Sith Lord became hideously deformed.
His face became unusually pale and sagged while his eyes turn burning yellow with blood-red rims.
"I am going to end this once and for all."Mace Windu admitted sternly.
"You can't."Anakin protested with a deadly look."He must stand trial."
"He has control of the Senate and the Courts!"Mace Windu arguef."He's too dangerous to be left alive!"
"I'm too weak."Darth Sidious said weakly."Don't kill me, please."
"It's not the Jedi way!"Anakin stated with a glare."He must live! I need him!"
Mace Windu raised his blade to deliver the killing blow.
"Please, don't!"Darth Sidious begged.
"NO!"Anakin shouted angrily.
Anakin unexpectedly intervened and activated his lightsaber, severing the his master's sword hand.
Mace Windu could only howl in pain as his lightsaber plummeted out of the window, leaving him defenceless.
Seizing the opportunity, Darth Sidious ceased his weakened ruse and unleashed a barrage of Force lightning at Mace Windu.
"POWER!"Darth Sidious shouted madly."UNLIMITED POWER!"
The Sith Lord cackled with glee before using the Force to blast the Jedi Master out of the broken window to his death.
Anakin become shocked and fell to his knees, horrified at his contribution to Mace Windu's defeat.
"What have I done?"Anakin asked in sorrow.
Seizing upon the Chosen One's emotional turmoil, Darth Sidious stood up from where he laid and congratulated him for taking steps to fulfil his destiny.
"You're fulfilling your destiny, Anakin."Darth Sidious replied."Become my apprentice. Learn to use the Dark Side of the Force."
Anakin, blinded by his desire to save his wife's life, begged Darth Sidious to help him.
"I will do whatever you ask."Anakin answered in defeat.
"Good."Darth Sidious sneered with an evil smile.
"Just help me save Padmé's life."Anakin begged."I can't live without her."
"To cheat death is a power only one has achieved."Darth Sidious commented."But if we work together...I know we can discover the secret."
"I pledge myself...to your teachings."Anakin replied.
"Good, good, the Force is strong with you. A powerful Sith Lord you will become."Darth Sidious stated."Henceforth, you shall be known as Darth Vader."
A glare appeared on Anakin's face, showing that he has fallen to the Dark Side.
"Thank you, master."Anakin said with a glare.
"Rise."Darth Sidious ordered.
Anakin stood up while Darth Sidious moved over to his desk.
On Kashyyyk, Master Yoda closed his eyes and holds his head as he felt a disturbance in the Force.
The Jedi Master felt the Dark Side of the Force was growing.
Something bad has happened.
In the Chancellor's Office, Darth Sidious placed on his dark cloak as he spoke to Anakin.
"Because the Council did not trust you at all, my young apprentice. I believe that you are the only Jedi with no knowledge of this plot."Darth Sidious explained."When the Jedi learn what has transpired here, they will kill us. Along with all the senators."
"I agree."Anakin replied."The Council's next move will be against the Senate."
"Every single Jedi including your friends; Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano and Ferus Olin...are now enemies of the Republic."Darth Sidious commented.
"I understand, Master Sidious."Anakin replied."What about Nadia? She already knows how corrupt the Jedi Order is like us."
"Perhaps she does, my young apprentice."Darth Sidious admitted."The Lord of Hunger's blood runs through her veins, but we shall see where her loyalty truly lies."
Anakin looked down at Darth Sidious' declaration.
"We must move quickly. The Jedi are relentless."Darth Sidious warned sternly."If they are not all destroyed, it will be Civil War without end. First, I want you to go straight to the Jedi Temple. We will catch them off-balance."
Anakin walked up to Darth Sidious, listened carefully at what his new master instructed him to do.
"Do what must be done, Lord Vader. Do not hesitate. Show no mercy."Darth Sidious ordered."Only then will you be absolutely strong enough with the Dark Side to save Padmé."
"What about the other Jedi spread across the galaxy?"Anakin questioned.
"Their betrayal will be dealt with after you have killed all the Jedi in the Temple."Darth Sidious responded as he sat down on his seat near his desk."Go to the Mustafar system. Wipe out Viceroy Gunray and the other Separatist Leaders. Once more the Sith will rule the galaxy and we shall have…peace."
Nadia couldn't help but felt relieved as she arrived inside the Jedi Temple.
After stopping for a moment to catch her breath, the raven haired girl made her way to Anakin's quarters.
"Anakin!"Nadia shouted."Chancellor Palpatine is-"
Nadia paused herself in shock when she saw that her friend was not in his room.
The Jedi Knight made her way to the High Council Chamber, only to find it empty.
"Where did they go?!"Nadia scowled in fear.
Nadia placed her hands on her head, trying to figure out the whereabouts of Anakin and the remaining Jedi Council members who were still in Coruscant.
Did they all left to go fight Darth Sidious and defeat him?
She silently prayed that was true.
Nadia headed back to the great hall of the temple, only to come across Jedi Master Qu Rahn.
"Nadia, are you alright?"Master Qu Rahn asked.
"No, Master Rahn. Everything is not alright."Nadia replied anxiously."Have you seen any of the Council Members such as Mace Windu or Master Tiin? Or Anakin?"
Master Qu Rahn shook his head.
"I'm afraid not, Nadia."Master Qu Rahn answered."But I think that Master Windu went with the other three present members to go meet with Chancellor Palpatine."
Nadia paled more at Master Qu Rahn's declaration.
"I understand."Nadia replied and gave a bow."Thank you, anyway."
Nadia rushed off from Master Qu Rahn, ignoring the glances she was getting from Jedi Master Shadday Potkin alongside the Jedi Knights, Bultar Swan and Tsui Choi.
The former Padawan of Master Kenobi eventually met up with Hal, Maybelline and RG-G1 heading out of the Healing Room.
"Big sister!"Maybelline greeted joyfully.
Maybelline hugged Nadia as Hal noticed his step-sister was sweating and looking pale.
"Nadia, do you have a fever?"Hal questioned."You are sweating."
"I am totally fine, Hal."Nadia replied sternly before changing the subject."Have any of you seen Anakin?"
"No, big sister."Maybelline replied."Did something happen?"
Nadia took a deep breath before letting it out.
"Chancellor Palpatine is Darth Sidious."Nadia admitted."The Sith Lord we have been looking for this entire time."
Shocked looks appeared on Hal and Maybelline's faces while RG-G1 let out a panicking beep.
"What?!"Hal said in disbelief."Palpatine is the Sith Lord?! How is that possible?!"
A scowl escaped from Nadia's mouth.
"It's shocking, but this is the truth. He was using us just as he was using the Separatists for his own personal gain to earn more power from the very beginning."Nadia retorted, her voice mixed with anger and betrayal."He began his play for control of the galaxy by orchestrating the invasion of Naboo while at the same time positioning himself to be voted Supreme Chancellor in a special election. He was also Darth Plagueis' apprentice and was trained in the Dark Side of the Force before betraying his Master."
Nadia clenched her fists in fury, upon realising she was being manipulated by the very person she thought she can trust instead of the Jedi Council and look up to as a grandfather figure.
"The Jedi Order! The Separatist Alliance!"Nadia growled."All of us were all his pawns in a chessboard that he was actually playing in both sides!"
Maybelline whimpered in fear as she held onto Nadia tightly.
"Nadia, I am scared."Maybelline cried, her voice mixed with fear for her friends and loved ones."What's going to happen to us?"
Nadia didn't reply to her younger half-sister's question, she didn't want to tell her the Clone Troopers will likely come and execute them along with the other Jedi here in the Temple.
RG-G1 let out a calm beep.
"G-G's right."Hal agreed with a frown."We need to find Anakin. His the Chosen One and the only that can defeat Darth Sidious."
"I've tried looking for him, but his not his quarters."Nadia retorted."Just where the hell is he?"
Maybelline looked at her older half-siblings.
"Maybe he went back to see Padmé?"Maybelline suggested.
"If his not in the Jedi Temple, then his probably back in Padmé's Apartment."Hal insisted, her face expressing hope despite the problem at hand."His not the one to leave his wife by herself for too long."
"Fine."Nadia responded, cooling down from her anger."Let's go then."
Just before Nadia, Hal, Maybelline or RG-G1 could take a step forward, the group heard something.
A utterly familiar sound.
The sound of the Clone Troopers when they marched in rank and file in preparation for combat.
But with the Force, Nadia and Hal sensed a figure shrouded in an overwhelming darkness heading straight for the Temple alongside the Clones.
It feel familiar, but neither of them couldn't tell who it was.
"Nadia…"Hal started with a glare.
"We are going to have company."Nadia snarled coldly.
Nadia then activated her lightsabers while Hal activated his own lightsaber while Maybelline nervously stood next to RG-G1.
On Utapau, the battle between the Clone Troopers and the Battle Droids raged throughout the sinkhole.
Obi-Wan went up to Commander Cody while riding on Boga.
"Commander, contact your troops."Obi-Wan ordered. "Tell them to move to the higher levels."
"Very good, sir."Commander Cody replied and detached Obi-Wan's lightsaber from his belt."Oh, by the way, I think you'll be needing this. "
Commander Cody handed Obi-Wan his lightsaber and the lizard rears up.
"Thank you, Cody."Obi-Wan replied with a smile."Now let's get a move on. We've got a battle to win here."
"Yes, sir!"Commander Cody answered.
Obi-Wan and his varactyl rode off down the wall of the giant sinkhole.
The battle rages throughout the city.
Commander Cody takes out his holo-projector and listened to the hologram of Darth Sidious.
"Commander Cody, the time has come."Darth Sidious declared."Execute Order 66."
In a blink of an eye, Commander Cody's attitude changed and immediately obeyed Darth Sidious' command.
"Yes, my lord."Commander Cody replied and gestured to a nearby Clone Trooper inside the All Terrain Tactical Enforcer."Blast him!"
The Clone Trooper on the All Terrain Tactical Enforcer fired a shot causing Obi-Wan and his varactyl to go off the wall of the sinkhole.
Obi-Wan and Boga fall hundreds of feet to the bottom of the water-filled sinkhole.
In Mygeeto, Ki-Adi-Mundi gets gunned down by CC-1138 and the Galactic Marines.
In Felucia, Jedi Knight Aayla Secura got murdered by CC-5052 and his 327th Star Corps.
Back in Kashyyyk, Master Yoda dropped his wooden stick and clutched his chest in sorrow while dropping on the floor upon sensing the deaths of many Jedi throughout the galaxy.
The Jedi Order had lost.
The Sith Lord had defeated them.
In Cato Neimoidia, Master Plo Koon's Jedi starfighter gets shot down by aggressive reconnaissance-170 starfighters, sending it smashing into a clone staging area.
In the Tribunal, Ahsoka and Rex arrived on the bridge.
Some soldiers saluted the duo as they reached the front of the bridge and the ship jumped to light speed.
Ahsoka stared into hyperspace deep in thought causing Rex to look at her.
"Something on your mind?"Rex asked.
"As a Jedi, we were trained to be keepers of the peace, not soldiers."Ahsoka stated. "But all I've been since I was a Padawan, is a soldier."
"Well, I've known no other way."Rex answered honestly."It gives us clones a kid feeling about the War because many people wish Darth Sidious didn't orchestrate it. But if he didn't, we, Clones, wouldn't exist."
Ahsoka looked at Rex.
"Well, then perhaps some good has come from all of it."Ahsoka suggested."The Republic couldn't have asked for better soldiers, nor I, a better friend."
Ahsoka smiled and saluted causing Rex to do the same.
"Commander Rex, the latest briefing has come in."An Officer declared.
Rex glanced at Ahsoka.
"Want to have a look?"Rex asked."It might have an update on General Kenobi's efforts."
"You go."Ahsoka insisted."I'm sure it's more good news."
Rex nodded and left the bridge with the officer, leaving Ahsoka by herself.
Suddenly, Ahsoka felt a massive disturbance pulsing through the Force causing her to touch her head at the voices she heard.
The voices sounded familiar, but she felt something was wrong as well.
Lightsabers hitting each other were heard beside the muffled voices.
"You must choose."
"Don't listen to him, Anakin!"
"It's not the Jedi way. He must live."
"He's too dangerous to be left alive."
"Please don't."
"I need him!"
"UNLIMITED POWER!"
"What have I done?"
Ahsoka's eyes widen in worry.
"Anakin?"Ahsoka murmured.
In the nearby communication room, Rex received a message from a hologram of Darth Sidious.
"Execute Order 66."Darth Sidious ordered.
"Yes, Lord Sidious."Rex replied.
The hologram of Darth Sidious vanished from view as Ahsoka runs to the room.
"Rex, it's Anakin."Ahsoka declared."I feel like something terrible has happened."
Rex's helmet trembled in his hand before he dropped it to the floor.
Indistinct radio chatter was heard as two nearby Clone Troopers turned to Ahsoka and pointed their guns at her.
"Rex?"Ahsoka said in confusion.
"No!"Rex snapped and turned to look at Ahsoka."I'll do it."
"Rex, what's happening?"Ahsoka demanded.
Rex pointed his guns at Ahsoka.
"Stay back!"Rex ordered anxiously.
Ahsoka held her hands, looking at Rex with a look that expressed confusion and concern.
What was going on?
"Find him!"Rex murmured."Find him! Fives!"
Suddenly, Rex's personality immediately changed.
"FIND HIM!"Rex shouted."FIVES!"
Rex started to shoot at Ahsoka causing the other Clone Troopers to begin to fire as well.
Ahsoka runs toward Rex and tackled him into the holotable.
Rex hits his head and falls to the floor.
Ahsoka gets on the table and pulled out her lightsabers.
She deflected the other Clone Troopers' shots, hitting them both.
Ahsoka closed the door to the bridge with the force as Rex gets up.
"Rex!"Ahsoka shouted.
Five more troopers come in from another entrance.
They begin firing at Ahsoka as does Rex.
Ahsoka deflected them all upwards to a vent shaft above the table.
Smoke gathered as Ahsoka deflected dozens of shots until she was completely obscured and able to jump into the vent.
In Kashyyyk, Ferus rushed up to Master Yoda, who was overlooking the ongoing battle.
"Master Yoda."Ferus responded."Master Luminara and her troops have-"
Suddenly, Master Yoda ignited his lightsaber, leaped in the air and beheads Commander Gree and another Clone Trooper, who were about to kill Ferus with their blasters.
Chewbacca and Chieftain Tarfful growled at Master Yoda and Ferus, telling the two Jedi to follow them.
Ferus glanced at Master Yoda.
"Master Yoda, what's going on?"Ferus demanded in pure shock."Why did Gree and the other Clone Trooper-"
"Not safe it is."Master Yoda replied with a look of unbearable sadness."Move into the jungle, we must."
Panic started to wash over Ferus' mind as he realised what was happening.
The Clone Troopers were ordered to killing all the Jedi Knights throughout the galaxy.
Exactly what Fives said and was trying to warn all of them about before he was killed.
Now he was hoping Nadia, Anakin and the rest of his friends were going to make it out alive in Coruscant.
Ferus puts his thoughts aside as he and Master Yoda began following Chewbacca and Chieftain Tarfful out of the hut building.
The Jedi Temple was in utter chaos.
After the Gate Master Jurokk was slaughtered, the 501st Legion began the brutal slaughter of every Jedi present.
While many Jedi were dying around the galaxy as part of Order 66, many of the Order's brightest were being killed at the Temple.
Jedi Battle Master Cin Drallig led a final stand of younglings and Padawans in the Fountain Room, but was unable to defend his charges from the superior number of blaster bolts.
Nadia gripped her two blades tightly as she deflected the shots of Sergeant Coric and three Clone Troopers, who attempted to gun her down.
"Sergeant Coric! Stop it!"Nadia demanded."You don't have to do this!"
"Good soldiers follow orders, Commander Aomori."Sergeant Coric replied bluntly.
As a respond, Nadia lest up and slashed off Sergeant Coric's head off before taking out the three Clone Troopers.
"I warned you, didn't I?"Nadia retorted with a cold glare.
Nadia rushed past Jedi that were fighting for their lives while killing a couple of Clone Troopers in the process.
She then answered on her comlink that was beeping.
"Yes?"Nadia questioned.
"Nadia, May and I were able to save Katooni, Zatt and Gungi from some Clone Troopers!"Hal reported.
"What about the rest of their clan?"Nadia asked.
Hal didn't give a respond, but Nadia already knew what her step-brother's silence meant.
"I understand."Nadia answered with a sad frown."I'm on my way."
The raven haired girl placed away her comlink as she made her way to the Jedi Archives, only to see Clone Troopers take down the Jedi Knights that were in the place.
A horrified look appeared on Nadia's face when she caught sight of a hooded figure strangling Master Jocasta Nu by the neck before dropping her on the floor.
He then easily killed Gran Jedi Master Maks Leem's Padawan Whie Malreaux with his blue lightsaber.
It was a fallen Jedi.
Out of anger, Nadia rushed forward and fighting back against the fallen Jedi.
The fallen Jedi charged at her quickly.
Though Nadia wielded two blades, she was having difficulty fighting off against her opponent.
A shocked look appeared on Nadia's face when she the face of the hooded figure.
It was Anakin.
But his eyes were a yellowish Sith colour instead of blue.
"The Jedi are lost, Nadia!"Anakin scowled."Don't die with them!"
Nadia froze at her discovery, but didn't let her shock control her.
"Never expected to hear that from you above all people, Anakin!"Nadia snapped.
Nadia did a back cart wheel a couple of times as Anakin attempted to slash her with his lightsaber.
The raven haired girl gave her former friend a kick on the stomach, throwing him back.
"Anakin, why are you doing this?!"Nadia demanded, hurt by her friend's betrayal."You've betrayed everything and caused chaos!"
"I didn't chaos!"Anakin retorted."The Jedi Order did!"
"For that you became Darth Sidious' new lapdog in Count Dooku's place?!"Nadia argued.
Anakin and Nadia's duel brought them out of the Jedi Archives and into a hallway within the Temple.
Nadia noticed more Clone Troopers coming to aid Anakin before a smoke grenade landed between them and released clouds of thick smoke to obscure the vision of the enemies.
The Clone Troopers continued firing as Anakin noticed Nadia was no longer in sight as the thick smoke cleared away.
"Spread out and find her!"Anakin demanded with a glare.
"Come on!"Hal shouted."This way!"
Hal held his lightsaber as he gestured Maybelline, Katooni, Zatt and Gungi to get inside the green white coloured Defender Class Light Corvette known as the Draco Meteor within the hangar.
Once his younger half-sister and the other three young kings were safely on board the Draco Meteor, the Jedi Knight deflected the shoots of the Clone Troopers that attempted to stop their escape.
Then his girlfriend, Stellar Renar, came out of the Draco Meteor and fired at the Clone Troopers using her blaster rifle.
Stellar Renar was a beautiful 19 year old girl with short periwinkle blue hair and magenta pink eyes. She wore a top that was brown with a triangle shape. Between that was a red shawl with black sleeves and gold lines. The waist had a brown two-layer belt. The trousers were black with gold designs. On her feet were a pair of mid-length navy boots with black straps across the calves, fixed with gold buttons.
"How long do we have to wait for your step-sister to show up, Hal?"Stellar demanded.
"Not long!"Hal assured."She's on her way at this very moment!"
Nadia smiled gratefully at RG-G1 as the two of them headed to the bridge that was to lead them to the hangar of the Jedi Temple.
"Thanks for coming to my rescue, G-G!"Nadia thanked.
RG-G1 let out a beep.
There were dead bodies of Clone Troopers and Jedi laying around, but Nadia tried her best not to shed any tears.
These were people she knew and some were the ones she fought alongside with.
"Why would Anakin join Sidious and do all this?!"Nadia thought, struggling not to cry over her friend's betrayal."Just what did the Sith Lord tell him to make him switch sides?!"
"Nadia!"
Nadia stopped running, just in time to see Master Shaak Ti.
"Master Ti!"Nadia remarked happily."You okay!"
"Are you by yourself?"Master Shaak Ti questioned.
"Looks that way."Nadia answered."Are you as well?"
"I'm afraid so."Master Shaak Ti declared.
"Me and G-G have a ride waiting for us."Nadia admitted."Do you want to come?"
Master Shaak Ti shook her head.
"I don't know many Jedi Masters or Jedi Knights are left, Nadia."Master Shaak declared."But I can tell you that we'll be heading off to different paths. However, as long as we live, the Order will still survive."
Nadia felt her butterflies in her stomach and then simply nodded at the Jedi Master's declaration.
"I understand."Nadia replied casually."But please be careful."
Master Shaak Ti nodded at Nadia.
"May the Force be with you, Nadia Aomori."Master Shaak Ti stated.
Nadia smiled. "You as well, Master Ti."
After saying her farewell to the Jedi Master that brought to the Temple, Nadia headed off with RG-G1.
The duo arrived in the hangar just in time to see Hal inside the Draco Meteor waiting for them with its ramp lowered.
"Hurry, Nadia!"Hal yelled out.
Nadia quickly used her lightsabers to slash the controller to quickly shut the door of the hangar to prevent Anakin and the Clone Troopers from following them.
RG-G1 went inside the Draco Meteor as Nadia joined him and Hal before the ramp of the Draco Meteor closed.
Stellar started up the Draco Meteor and the ship took off from the Jedi Temple's hangar just as it's other entrance was blasted down by Clone Troopers.
The Clone Troopers fired at the fleeing ship while Anakin walked forward with eyes glowing in a deadly yellow colour.
From her apartment window, Padmé was in shock to see the Jedi Temple in flames.
The Senator of Naboo wore a simple aqua nightdress. It was low-cut, held up by straps. The hems and straps were decorated with delicate embroidery and were studded with pearls and tiny shells, further carrying the theme of water, the element she was so enamoured with. The front of the nightdress was slit, revealing a glossy light blue fabric beneath it, and a simple cape flowed off her back. She wore aqua-coloured gloves that started at her wrist up to her upper arm, the bottom of which was also decorated with embroidery, shells, and pearls. She wore her chocolate brown hair down and held back by a delicate headband studded with aqua-coloured beads.
Threepio went up to Padmé.
"The Chancellor's office indicated Master Anakin returned to the Jedi Temple."Threepio reported."Don't worry. I am sure he will be all right."
Threepio then walked away, leaving the Naboo Senator by herself.
Padmé then burst into tears, fearing the worst that might've happened to her husband.
The fierce fighting sparked a blaze which soon engulfed the entire Temple, attracting the attention of hundreds of beings, who watched in horror as the ancient edifice burned.
Witnessing the smoke and flames, Senator Bail Organa drove on his speeder and landed on the landing platform of one of the Tower hangars to investigate the fire, only to be confronted by Sergeant Fox and a couple of Clone Troopers.
"What's going on here?"Bail demanded.
"There's been a rebellion, sir."Sergeant Fox replied."Don't worry. The situation is under control."
The Clone Troopers bar the Senator of Alderaan from entering the Jedi Temple and point their blasters at him.
"I'm sorry, sir."Fox retorted with his blaster out."It's time for you to leave."
"And so it is."Bail said simply.
The Senator of Alderaan turned to leave and headed to his speeder when several shots rung out.
"Get him!"
Bail turned around and sees the ten year old Jedi Padawan, Zett Jukassa, fighting the Clone Troopers.
The Senator jumped for cover behind his Speeder, starting the engines.
Bail watched in horror as Zett was then shot down by the Clone Troopers.
"NO!"Bail screamed in shock.
The speeder took off with Bail clinging to the side as it disappeared into the cityscape.
Back in the Tribunal, a couple of Clone Troopers were running through a corridor.
Rex and two other Clone Troopers walked in the other direction before more Clone Troopers approached them.
"Sir, we finished our sweep of the detention level."A Clone Trooper declared."The prisoner has escaped. There's no sign of Tano or Maul."
"Destroy the escape pods and increase security on the hangar decks."Rex ordered.
"Right away, sir."the Clone Trooper replied.
Another group of Clone Troopers ran through the corridors.
They run past Ahsoka, who then makes her way to a droid bay.
Inside, she activated R7-A7.
R7-A7 powered up and beeped at Ahsoka.
"Shh."Ahsoka murmured."Arseven, I need your help."
R7-A7 beeped frantically.
"I know, I know."Ahsoka assured."Shh, quiet."
The lights come on and two other droids activated.
They each beeped and approached Ahsoka.
All three droids crowd around her, beeping.
"I don't know."Ahsoka replied with an unsure look."I don't know why the clones are doing this. But we might be able to do something about it."
The droids beeped at Ahsoka.
"Are you sure you want to help?"Ahsoka questioned."It could be dangerous."
The droids all beeped positively again at Ahsoka.
"Okay, let's get started."Ahsoka remarked and looked at R7-A7."R7, patch into the central computer. Bring up every secure file on clone trooper CT-5555."
R7-A7 approached a nearby console and begins looking for files.
He displayed them to Ahsoka as he browsed.
"Okay, Rex, what am I looking for?"Ahsoka murmured.
A video file of a Kaminoan began playing.
"An independent investigation confirmed that the clone trooper CT-5555 experienced a malfunction with his inhibitor chip."the Kaminoan exclaimed."Both the Senate committee and the Jedi council have accepted these findings. However, a grievance report was filed by CT-7567."
"R7, bring up that report."Ahsoka ordered.
R7-A7 beeped and shook his head.
"It's sealed?"Ahsoka said in surprised."Try Anakin's passcode. 8108."
R7-A7 beeped and after a moment played Rex's grievance report.
"I already know this report is gonna fall on deaf ears, but I owe it to Fives to record what I saw."Rex declared."I'm not sure I believe it myself, but there's a possibility that the inhibitor chips the Kaminoans put inside of us have a purpose that we don't yet fully understand."
Cut to a shot of clone troopers firing in a corridor.
"Fall back!"A Clone Trooper demanded."Fall back!"
The Clone Troopers continued backing down a corridor.
Some were knocked over when one was thrown into them.
Maul rounded the corner.
The former apprentice of Darth Sidious pulled a piece of metal plating from a wall, knocking out a Clone Trooper.
He then used it as a shield.
Maul threw one Clone Trooper into the ceiling and then behind him.
He then threw the metal plating, beheading some Clone Troopers.
He used one piece of plating to pin a Clone Trooper to a wall.
In another corridor, a couple of Clone Troopers were running through a corridor as R7-A7 and Cheep watched them.
Rex was the last Clone Trooper in the column.
After the other Clone Troopers have passed, R7-A7 runs out and blocked Rex.
"Hey, hey."Rex scowled."Out of the way."
Cheep closed the blast doors all around Rex, cutting him off from the rest of the clones.
"Are you cross-wired?"Rex assumed.
Cheep and R7-A7 beeped at Rex.
R7-A7 began displaying a holographic message from Ahsoka.
"Rex, I think I know what's happening."Ahsoka declared."I saw your report of Fives. It isn't your fault. You were programmed. Your mind was altered to do this when you were very young. I can help you."
When Ahsoka's message ended, Rex pulled a gun on R7-A7.
"Where is she?"Rex retorted.
R7-A7 beeped lowly at Rex.
"I'm right here."
Rex turned around and saw Ahsoka behind.
When Rex pointed his gun at her, but R7-A7 electrified him.
Rex screamed in pain and fell to the ground.
"Careful!"Ahsoka instructed."We're trying not to hurt him!"
The third droid, R6-D8, was with Ahsoka as she picked Rex up.
Muffled voices of Clone Troopers were heard through the walls.
"They've got the commander!"A Clone Trooper's voice scowled."Bring the charges!"
Ahsoka looked at Cheep.
"Cheep, are all the doors sealed, so the way is clear?"Ahsoka questioned.
Cheep beeped at Ahsoka.
"Okay."Ahsoka responded."Let's get him to the medical bay."
Ahsoka laid Rex on top of the droids.
They all made their way to the medical bay.
The Clone Troopers broke through the first door as Ahsoka closed another.
The group arrived at the medical bay.
Ahsoka removed Rex's helmet before she laid him on a medical table.
"Arseven, run a scan."Ahsoka instructed."See if you can find the inhibitor chip the report talked about."
R7-A7 began scanning while Ahsoka typed into a console, activating a medical droid.
The medical droid beeped and scanned Rex.
Ahsoka looked at a brain scan, but didn't see the chip.
R7-A7 beeped at Ahsoka.
"But the chip has to be there!"Ahsoka argued."Check again!"
Outside, more Clone Troopers arrived and began making their way through another door.
In the medical bay, Cheep beeped at Ahsoka.
"How close are they?"Ahsoka asked.
Cheep beeped again.
Ahsoka looked at R6-D8.
"Dee-Dee, if they override the door controls, you have to reseal it fast.
Dee-Dee beeped and goes for the door as Ahsoka looked back at R7-A7.
"R7, anything?"Ahsoka questioned.
R7-A7 beeped and shook his head.
Ahsoka walked over to Rex and gently grabbed his head.
"I am one with the Force and the Force was with me."Ahsoka murmured.
Rex began to stir and spoke with Ahsoka.
"I am one with the Force and the Force is with me."Ahsoka and Rex replied in unison."I am one with the Force and the Force is with me. I am one with the Force and the Force is with me."
Rex's inhibitor chip then popped up on the scan.
"You found it?"Ahsoka remarked.
Ahsoka looked at the scan on a screen on the wall.
"Arseven, get him under and remove that thing!"Ahsoka ordered.
R7-A7 beeped at Ahsoka.
"I don't know if it will work, but if it doesn't, we're dead anyway."Ahsoka admitted.
R7-A7 beeped again and sends Rex into a medical machine.
Ahsoka suddenly heard a banging noise.
She turned and saw sparks around the border of the entrance to the medical facility.
"Get ready on the door!"Ahsoka declared.
R6-D8 went to a nearby panel as Ahsoka pulled out her lightsabers.
The door was slid up by a Clone Trooper, who held it open as other Clone Trooperd shoot inside.
Some entered as Ahsoka deflected their shots before using the Force to push them out.
Rex continued to stir and slightly opened his eyes.
Ahsoka continued preventing the other Clone Troopers from entering as Rex reached for his guns.
Ahsoka cried out as she was hit by the arm, making her drop one of her lightsabers.
"The door, Dee-Dee!"Ahsoka warned."The door!"
R6-D8 continued working on closing the door.
Rex fired into the hallway, hitting some Clone Troopers before R6-D8 was able to get the door closed.
"Rex?"Ahsoka asked worriedly."Are you okay?"
"Yeah. Yeah, kid. I'm okay."Rex groaned as he placed his guns down and rubbed his head."I'm sorry for what happened earlier. I almost killed you."
"How widespread is this?"Ahsoka questioned.
A fearful look appeared on Rex's face.
"Ahsoka…It's all of us."Rex stated."The entire Grand Army of the Republic has been ordered to hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights."
Ahsoka became disturbed by Rex's declaration.
If Darth Sidious ordered the Clone Troopers to kill all the Jedi Knights throughout the galaxy, it obviously meant Anakin, Nadia, Ferus and others were targets as well.
Rex and Ahsoka suddenly heard noises from outside causing them to become alarmed.
R7-A7 and R6-D8 backed away from the door as it started being opened from the other side once more.
