We're back on chapter thirty-five.

At sea, the United Forces fleet makes sail to the Southern Water Tribe against Unalaq. In the cabin, Korra and General Iroh were planning the attack on the Northerners.

"We'll have to take down the camp where the portal is at." Iroh II said. "Even so, you'll have the time to close that portal."

"And if it's too late, Vaatu will be free. And I'll have to absorb him." Korra said.

Korra marched outside and faced the soldiers.

"Onward to the South Pole"

"Defeat the Northerners"

"Free it from Unalaq's control"

Korra raised her fist, and the soldiers cheered in war.

"We are the South's only hope"

"The saviours to all"

"We must defend our world"

"As we shall stand tall"

Korra stared at where her home was. She makes a determine face on her.

"Now it's time to step up"

"Or it's time to back down"

"We'll stand up and fight"

"And there's only one answer for us"

"'Cause I know that I'm right"

Meanwhile, at Unalaq's compound, inside Unalaq's tent as Desna and Eska entered. Unalaq and Malina were stated with Tonraq tied up.

"What are we still doing here, Father?" Eska said.

"The invasion was completely successful, and the southern tribe is under our control. The spirit portals are open." Desna said.

"You've restored balance. Now we would like to go home." Eska said.

"You don't understand. Everything I achieved so far will pale in comparison with what I'm about to accomplish." Unalaq said.

"What else is there? The Water Tribe is united." Malina said.

"After today, there will be no more Water Tribe, no more nations of any kind. The world is about to be transformed into something magnificent, and new. And I will lead this glorious revolution. Now go outside and get the troops ready to defend the spirit portal."

"From whom? We've already beaten everyone." Eska asked.

"The Avatar will be here soon. She has no choice."

Malina looks at Unalaq with fear.

"It's time to rise up"

"Or to stand down"

"And the answer is easy to see"

"The new age is upon us"

"And there will be a new world to be"

"You don't know what you are doing, Unalaq. Freeing Vaatu won't make you powerful, it will only make you a traitor to everything good that's happened over the last ten thousand years." Tonraq said.

"You think what Avatar Wan did was good? Driving almost all the spirits from this world? The Avatar hasn't brought balance, only chaos. She calls herself the bridge between the two worlds, but there shouldn't be a bridge: We should live together as one." Unalaq said.

"But freeing a dark spirit to destroy it?" Tonraq asked.

"It's true that when Wan fused with Raava, he tipped the scales in her favour, but this time I'll be here to level the playing field. When Harmonic Convergence comes, I will fuse with Vaatu, and together we will become the new Avatar: A Dark Avatar. Your daughter's era is over."

"Think about what you're doing. I know that you've always had a deep connection with the spirits, but you're still a man. You're still my brother, you're Malina's husband, you're Eska and Desna's father. Are you willing to throw your humanity away to become a monster?" Tonraq begged.

"I'll be no more of a monster than your own daughter or our brother. The only difference is that while she can barely recognize her own spiritual power, I will be in complete alignment with mine. Vaatu and I will be as one. No one will be able to stand against us." Unalaq said.

"Vaatu and I will be one"

"And the spirits will return"

"The Avatar has brought balance"

"But now, it's my turn"

Meanwhile, on Varrick's ship, they made it to the South Pole, seeing the fleet already there.

"The fleet are here already." Varrick said.

"And there heading to the spirit portal right now." Tenzin said.

"What are we gonna do now?" Bolin asked. "There's a lot of dark spirits out there, and there's only eight of us."

"We have to keep going. For Korra." Mako determined.

Back at the camp, a Northern soldier was patrolling, then he saw something. The United Forces and the Avatar marching into battle.

"Onward to the South Pole"

"Defeat Unalaq"

"And free the spirits from Vaatu's control"

The soldier picked up a horn to make an alarm sound.

Unalaq and his family walked out the tent to see what was going on.

"We're under attack." Desna said.

The troops charged at the camp without hesitation. The earthbending soldiers used their skills to tear down the wall. The soldiers charged through the wall and fights off against the Northerners.

While Iroh was fighting several Northerners, Korra ran to the spirit portal to close the portal.

Unalag saw the assault. "Eska, Desna, protect your mother."

Unalaq charged at the United Forces while using his waterbending.

Just as he leaves the tent, Tonraq manages to use his waterbending to create an ice blade for him to cut the ropes free. He sneaks out through the tent and joined the United Forces in battle.

Inside the Spirit World with a view of the Tree of Time. Spirits encircle the tree. Korra entered the Spirit World. Unalaq who, along with the spirits, begins to attack. The spirits were approaching the Avatar.

Korra enters the Avatar state and dashes forward, preparing to airbend. As she unleashes a wave of air, the spirits were rebuffed by the airbending. She runs forward and begin bending their respective elements to stop the spirits. Korra rushes off toward the Southern Portal. As Korra approaches the portal, she reaches the portal and enters the Avatar State. She attempts to close it.

"You're running out of time, Raava. I know you girls can feel it coming." Vaatu said.

At the sun as the planets begin to align. Korra was knocked backward by a pulse of energy. The two portals as their energy begins to collide. Korra watches on.

Outside the portal in the South Pole, as the soldiers were knocked backward by a wave of energy falling backward as the wave continues.

At Republic City, as a wave passes by. On a street of Republic City, where Beifong and other citizens of Republic City looking up at the sky. The entire planet again as the two waves converge.

Inside the Spirit World as the two portals begin to create lightning that hits the Tree of Time. The lightning stops and it goes dark briefly before energy explodes from the tree.

As the energy expands and dissipates, Vaatu emerges. Korra sees him free. Vaatu begins to laugh.

"Free at last"

"The time has come"

"To destroy you fast"

"Now, I will rule the reality"

"Once you are destroyed"

"And I'm ready as I ever be"

Whoa, this is getting as Sarlaq planned.
