A What If? scenario where Gabriel (Supernatural) meets Loki (Marvel) and they hit it off to the point they do something stupid one night after one too many drinks...and the fallout afterwards. Will include Loki Ragnarok (anime/manga) and some HP elements. Enjoy!

You could say it all started with the most unusual of meetings. Or ominous.

Loki, Prince of Asgard was visiting Midgard (Earth to the natives) when he ran into an odd creature called a "Trickster".

Imagine his shock learning the creature went by "Loki".

Naturally upon learning this other Loki had taken it upon himself to prank those he knew totally deserve it.

Within a few hours of drinking, the two of them were practically best of friends. Even if the Trickster was stealing his identity.

However like all good things, something happened to make things incredibly awkward.

Loki and his Trickster counterpart stared at the odd egg-like object between them.

"What in the name of the Allfather is that?" said Loki, wincing from the amount of mead they had drank between them.

Loki the Trickster, or Gabriel as his real name was, held a hand over the thing and winced.

"I think it's a soul."

"A what?"

"Exactly how much did we drink last night? And what made creating this a good idea?" said Gabriel, wincing as he mentally counted the number of jars around them. They had damn near wiped out his entire stock.

"What do we do with it?"

Gabriel thought over what they could do, before a brilliant idea hit upon him.

"I've got it. We can hide it in one of the magical families. They won't question a blessing from Loki, especially if it's an heir. And there's this one guy who's a real riot," said Gabriel.

He was only fifteen, but James Potter and his friends were hilarious. Odds were that James would be more than happy to hide the new soul.

Gabriel waited a few years, and in the spirit of scholarly interest, Loki watched the new couple once conception was confirmed. The boy might be of their blood, but he was very much the "son" of Gabriel and Loki.

For almost a year and a half, everything was normal. The infant looked like it would grow up a happy, if unusually powerful wizard blessed by an arch angel and a rather sarcastic god.

On Halloween something terrible happened.

The mother and father were murdered in their own home, and the infant was almost killed as well. Too bad for the dark wizard, there were two versions of Loki watching after the boy. If for no other reason than boredom.

And the Trickster most certainly didn't like the idea of the wizard's soul trying to attach itself to the kid like some sort of parasite. He had a minor scar in the shape of a crescent moon, but that would heal over in a few years anyway naturally.

If the people who arrived soon after had been intelligent, the two tricksters would have let them place the child in a new home. However one look at the area that the half-giant drove to and handed the boy over to an older wizard, and Loki knew they couldn't leave the child to fend for itself there.

Even if it meant they'd have to downplay their observation for a while, because Odin would certainly notice a child using Asgardian-style magic on a planet they hadn't visited in some time. If for no other reason than Heimdall or Frigga would tell him.

Gabriel might be able to act, but if they set things up right the child could become self-sufficient that only minimal interference would be required.

When the witch, wizard and obvious half-giant were gone from the area and peace was restored, Gabriel absconded with the infant from the area.

Loki meanwhile was scouring the countries for the best place to hide an infant. He found a peaceful town that was perfect. Gabriel would establish a base for a few years, until the child was old enough to live on his own.

Eight years later...

A short figure with auburn hair and black clothing stood at the edge of a cliff. Moonlight illuminated the figure, revealing a child with emerald green eyes.

"So this is where his head rests. I hope he agrees to this," said the figure.

"He should. After all, knowing him he'll just be happy for an excuse to leave and hide from Odin," said the slightly taller, but no less mysterious figure.

"Can we get this over with? The sooner we hide him, the less chance Odin or Heimdall will notice what we've done," complained a third figure. His voice positively dripped sarcasm and snark.

The smallest and youngest figure raised his staff, catching the moonlight and directing his magic into the waves below. For a moment, nothing really happened.

Then there was a strange rumbling, as something massive surged from deep, deep below the water. A massive black and green scaled head appeared, and became eye-level with the smallest figure on the cliffside.

~Who dares disturb my slumber?~

"Oh come off it you grumpy snake. We're here to offer you a chance to actually move around and live outside of your exile," said the second figure. The moonlight revealed it to be Gabriel. The third figure was Loki of Asgard.

The massive serpent blinked, before it smelled the divinity off the two older figures.

~Father?~

Loki switched to Norse. The child had already agreed to have his memories modified temporarily, at least until he had gained enough magic to protect himself from even demons.

If the supernatural sect believed that the child was simply a new god trying to take on the title of "Loki", then it was highly likely that they'd just ignore him. Obviously he was of no threat, outside of being highly delusional. And if he was, then the real "Loki" would eventually deal with him.

"We need you to watch over this child as if he were me. At least until he's old enough to hide on his own power."

Jormungandr smelled the air above the boy.

~I see... So this child is...~

"Besides, if you agree to watch over him, you'll be able to walk around and enjoy the sunshine, rather than sleep all day," said Gabriel cheerfully.

Jormungandr snorted, but he had to admit he was pretty damn bored. Pretending to the be the "son" of his younger brother sounded more interesting than being stuck under the ocean all the time. Besides, this meant he got to spend more time with one of his siblings.

The boy leveled his staff at the serpent.

"My name is Loki. And I would like to take you on a journey with me, if that's alright," said the boy.

Jormungandr felt the familiar, yet not, magic touch him. He latched on to the shapeshifting spell the boy was using on him, allowing it to give him a new form that would allow him to slip under Odin's radar. He took on a humanoid form.

"From now on, your name will be... Yamino."

"I'm not going to ask where you came up with that," said Gabriel with a straight face.

"Now to adjust your memories," said Loki.

He bent down and placed a hand on the boy's head, where the scar used to be. For a moment the child's eyes turned glazed over, unfocused.

Then the memory spell took, and he slumped in Loki's arms.

"Was that really necessary?" asked the newly named Yamino.

"The less he remembers of who we are, the safer he'll be. At most people will think he's just another overpowered wizard trying to take the name Loki. Delusional, but relatively harmless. Once we've set you up, you'll be in charge of caring for him until he naturally remembers who he really is. Until then he'll have to deal with learning spells slowly, as opposed to the info-dump we gave him before we came here."

The only reason the amount of information didn't kill him once it hit his brain was because Loki had set the download to slowly spool into the child's mind as he got older and his magic got stronger.

Gabriel picked up the unconscious child and carried him all the way back to the house.

The Next Morning...

Emerald green eyes opened slowly, before groaning and turning over to go back to sleep.

A pair of hands reached for the curtains and yanked them open, filling the room with sunlight.

"Rise and shine Master Loki!" said a far too cheerful voice.

Loki tried to hide under his covers, but owner of the voice wasn't having any of that.

"I hate mornings," complained Loki.

"I have an English breakfast waiting for you in the dining room, Master Loki," said Yamino.

He had neck length hair pulled back in a ponytail, and round glasses that hid serpentine eyes. Though one would have to actually look to notice that fact. In time his eyes would become a more normal shape. Both his hair and his eyes were a deeper shade of green, almost like leaf-colored. He wore a traditional butler's outfit, and to be honest he didn't really mind keeping house or cooking.

Considering what he had spent the past several hundred years doing, playing as a butler was a novelty to be honest.

Unlike Loki, he was a morning person.

Loki groaned before reaching out for the clothes Yamino had set on the end of the bed. There were a few things that Loki refused to have Yamino do, and dressing him was one of them.

(The other was helping him take a bath or shower, outside of turning on the water if he planned to soak.)

"So what's on the agenda for today, Yamino?"

"Well we just got a shipment of new books in," he said diplomatically.

Loki perked up at that. If there was one thing he enjoyed, it was reading.

"You sure do love mail-ordering things, don't you?" said Loki, opening the door.

Yamino smiled. In truth he did enjoy doing chores and ordering the most random things from the mail. It was fascinating seeing what humans could create, and it made shopping so much easier.

It was also much simpler to claim home-schooling if neither of them had to go grocery shopping all the time. As long as Loki didn't go out until after school hours, no one would suspect a thing. The area was mostly empty during the nine-to-five hours anyway.

A good chunk of the books were magical in origin. Many more were filled with Norse mythology. Strangely, there was also an old fashioned bible in the original Latin...and a dictionary in a language Yamino couldn't begin to read, much less understand.

Loki pulled down a book at random and settled in to read. Every once in a while he'd reach for the tea Yamino so helpfully left on the desk for him to drink.

Eleven years later...

Being trapped in the body of a child sucked. Sure he hadn't noticed his lack of a growth spurt until he was eleven, but Odin didn't have to be this much of a bastard.

On the plus side, people didn't expect much of children who hadn't even hit puberty, and he got to see the most interesting views. Girls generally didn't slap kids if they caught them looking up their skirts and it often put you in the most...useful...vantage point if they happened to hug you. And with his looks, he was often in danger of death by suffocation through hugs.

Okay, maybe being a kid didn't suck, but the fact his magic levels were almost unacceptably low and his ability to cast the high level spells were shot was annoying.

Yamino certainly found his predicament amusing, but had the good grace not to comment on it.

Though there was one thing that Loki would never admit to.

He was lonely. It was hard having god-like powers and having to live among humans, all of whom were completely oblivious to the truth.

Three years later...

Golden eyes looked at the accident site with sadness...and opportunity.

The little girl was barely alive, and would soon be dead. And he happened to know his son was very lonely. Plus, Freya loved kids. Odds were she'd be happy to help to spare the child's life.

His son was so bored he actually sealed most of his power and stayed in his child form for over a month. And he really didn't look like he would be coming out of it until something interesting happened.

Loki appeared, holding a good chunk of Freya's magic. He handed it over to Gabriel without a word, and the archangel went to work. He bound the girl's soul to her body with the magic, thus upgrading the child to a mage. She could act as a open conduit to Freya, almost like a direct link to the goddess herself.

That meant Freya had a way to act among the mortals without having to leave Asgard or anger Odin for interfering with mortal matters on Earth.

Reiya gasped with air as the healing power of the angels and Freya's gift brought her back to almost full health. She still had a few minor cuts and bruises, and her clothes were torn, but outside that she was fine.

Gabriel dropped her off within walking distance of the house, where the funeral was being held...three days after the fact.

Reiya would inevitably be drawn to his son, either by chance or luck...just not right away.

After saving her, Gabriel had been hit with inspiration of how to kill Raziel's boredom and train him in how to deal with dark magic...like soul fragments.

Though Loki still argued that the name Raziel Lokison sounded ridiculous.

By the time Gabriel was done, there were four new "avatars" for Norse gods, and four more had agreed to at least stop by.

Hel would slowly teach Raziel how to remove destroy soul fragments, and the Norn sisters would remove the memory block.

And once he broke the seal, Gabriel would come back and teach him the finer arts of using his angel and Trickster powers.
