*POV BELLA*
Bella: I'm sorry for your door. I just needed to get away from her.
Alice: I figured as much. It's ok. There was no harm to the door. Can I ask what happen now?
Bella: I don't talk about it.
Alice doesn't say anything else. And she doesn't say anything when I push down more on the gas. Easily pushing 120mph. I don't know where I'm going but anywhere is better than there. I kick myself at letting Lauren still get to me. I know eventually I will have to tell Alice what happen but today is not the day. I need better control of my anger. Considering today, I'm sure I'll phase if I try telling her anytime soon. Lauren is not worth the possibility of me hurting Alice if I phase too close. As I past the welcome sign, I hear the sirens. It makes me floor it more.
Alice: Bella slow down.
I hear Alice faintly. And I hear the sirens further away. I'm sure I can get away.
Alice: Bella slow down or I'll make you slow down.
I glare over at her. Noting her eyes are darker than normal, I slowly let up from the gas. Once we're at a braking speed, I hear the sirens get closer. I pull over but make no movement to roll down the window. Instead, Alice reaches over to push the button.
Charlie: Bella what the hell is going on?
Bella: Lauren.
I feel his eyes on me but I don't look over at him. Not answering any questions I'm sure his eyes hold.
Alice: we just saw Lauren and her husband Hank, at the store.
I cringe at the name again.
Charlie: crap Bells. Do you need me to get off? We can go watch a movie or something. Want me to run her out of town? What do you need?
I chuckle at the fact he would risk his job to run her off. She's not worth my anger and she's definitely not worth his dream job.
Bella: No dad. I'll be fine. I promise. I just had to get away. I'm sorry I was speeding.
He stares at me for a while and I realize I haven't looked at him once. I barely just looked at Alice and it was only to glare at her. I know he won't let it go till he knows I'm ok. So, I turn to give him a small smile.
Charlie: ok Bells. Alice, take care of my girl. Make sure she gets home safe.
Alice: I will sir.
I wait for him to get in his cruiser and drive off before I pull out. I feel the anger slowly start to raise again. I start driving off to my house. Wanting to be alone. When Alice realizes we're not going to her house, she gives me a pout causing me to instantly double back towards her house. It might be better for me not to be alone anyways. I pull to the side of the garage, not wanting to disturb Rosalie working on my car.
Alice: Bella can we please talk about it?
Bella: Alice can you please drop it? Please?
Alice: well, what can I do to help calm you?
Bella: I need something to punch.
I feel a gust of wind and Emmett opening the door.
Emmett: let's go Bella bear!
Alice: Emmett that's not a good idea.
Emmett: we finally get to see how strong Bella bear is. She's the Alpha. She's suppose to be stronger than all the wolves. Or maybe she's just an oversized pup.
The jab pisses me off more. I jump out the car and slam the door after me. Rosalie, Edward and Esme join us outside. I'm sure hearing Emmett, Alice and the door slam.
Alice: that's twice Bella… Seriously Emmett don't. Today is not the day.
Emmett: come on Alice, I won't hurt your puppy too much.
I punch Emmett in the jaw getting tired of being called a pup. He flies back hitting a tree, lightly cracking the base. He gets up with a smile, rubbing his jaw. I'm sure further fueling his excitement. He zooms over and punches me in the jaw. Unlike my punch, his only throws me off a little. I'm guessing not liking that his punch didn't do much, he grabs me and throws me into the same tree I just knocked him into. The tree crackles all the way and falls over, I catch it before it can land on Alice's car and throw it the other way. The possibility of it hitting Alice's beloved car, fuels my anger. I feel my wolf dying to come out. The tremors running from my hands throughout my whole body. I tell my wolf I want to fight him in human form. Not bite his head off. He is a friend and Alice's brother. We cannot hurt her like that. But that doesn't stop us from teaching him a lesson.
Alice: EMMETT DO NOT!
We all turn to Alice wondering what she saw. I look back at Emmett knowing not to take my eyes off the target for too long.
Emmett: come on puppy. Guess Alice has you house trained now.
I instantly see red. Before I can stop my wolf, I'm in Emmett's face. I throw another punch, knocking him into a tree again. I make it to him as he's getting up. Grabbing his shirt, I throw him on the ground and start punching his face. I hear the others telling me to stop but all their voices are distant. My wolf throws all our strength behind every punch. I feel cold hands pull me back and I come face to face with Alice. Fear and concern lace her face. My wolf cowards back from seeing her fear. Is she scared of us?
Alice: Bella your eyes!
I look at the window of her car and see my eyes are pitch black. Alice grabs my face to look at her. I feel my anger fade and I turn to the others. Edward is 5 feet away from us, Esme a few feet behind him. I look over at Rosalie and she's picking up Emmett. I see about 11 spiderweb cracks all over his face, running all over Emmett's face coming from one point of impact. His right cheek.
Bella: shit Emmett! I'm so so sorry! Fuck! I didn't mean to. My wolf…
Rose: Bella, stop. He deserved it for egging you on. Alice warned him. Don't worry he'll be ok once he hunts…. Come on you big dummy. Just so you know, next time you get on my nerves, I'll unleash Bella on you.
She sends me a wink before walking Emmett into the woods. Eddie tries to give me a high five, but I don't return it. He nods in understanding my disappointment in my actions. He runs after Rosalie and Emmett. Esme rushes over to us, grabbing my hand and wrapping it in a small towel. I notice that my knuckles are bleeding heavy. She gives me a small smile, but I can't return it. I feel like a complete dick for what I just did.
Bella: Esme...
Esme: no Bella. As Rose said, he pretty much deserved it for not listening. We heal quickly like you wolves. We sometimes need blood to help but he will be ok. Right Alice?
When we turn to look at Alice, she's gone. Before I can say anything, she reappears with a first aid kit.
Bella: that's really unnecessary Alice. I'll heal in no time.
Alice: shhhh. I'm glad Carlisle brought this home when you started hanging out here. Now give me your hand so I can clean it and wrap it. At least till it heals.
She guides me over to the steps so we can sit down. When I look up, Esme is gone. I give her my hand and she gently unwraps the towel and starts cleaning it.
Alice: Esme's right we do heal quickly. However, since we're mortal enemies it'll take each of us a little longer to heal. Emmett will have to eat at least 2 bears and wait another hour or 2. Now you, your jaw looks to have healed already, the bruise isn't as noticeable. But this, you will need to leave this wrapped for a few hours. But we'll all be ok wolfie. Come on, let's feed you too.
I smile at the nickname, she hasn't called me that in a while. She pulls my arm towards the kitchen. Esme already was cooking something up.
*POV ALICE*
After eating 2 racks of ribs and halfway watching another movie, Bella knocks out on the couch. I'm sure the emotional roller coaster and fight tired her out. I sit in front of her, holding her hand since she said it still hurts but feels better with my coolness. It healed over an hour ago but I don't let it go. I run circles on the back of her hand with my thumb. Enjoying the little electric tingles, I feel whenever we touch. Rose, Emmett and Edward return not long after. I see the cracks on Emmett's face and cringe a little. They look a little worse than earlier. Or maybe I was more concerned with Bella.
Rose: you… don't feel bad either. You tried warning him.
I look at Emmett waiting for him to say something.
Edward: Rose told him, he can't speak for 24 hours. She'll withhold sex for a month if he does.
I laugh at the pout Emmett makes. While Rose and Edward look over my shoulder at Bella.
Rose: so, spill Alice, I know all that wasn't simply because he called her pup. I've called her pup before and my face is very much intact.
I look over at Bella, while snoring I don't want her to overhear us. I quickly take her to my room and tell the others to meet me in Carlisle's office. Calling Esme to join us.
Alice: remember when Jess told her that some girl Lauren was coming to town?
They all nod.
Alice: we saw her earlier today. With her husband. And well, it really upset Bella. I'm sure she would've phased in the store if I hadn't gotten her out of there. I don't know the history there but clearly there's something.
Edward: her husband?
My mind shows him both Lauren and Hank. I see the anger building on his face. His hands balled into a fist.
Esme: Edward, son? What is it?
Edward: I, I, I'm sorry but I can't say. It's not for me to say. I only know because I saw it in Jess' head the other day. And Bella asked me not to say anything. But I can understand her anger today.
Alice: spill it, Edward.
Edward: I can't Alice. I gave her my word. And it's not my place. You have to ask her.
Alice: I've tried. She tells me to drop it each time.
Edward: I'm sure when she's ready, she'll tell you.
His stubbornness fuels my anger and annoyance. I decide to hunt after today's events. I tell Edward to keep an eye on her and head out. If neither one will tell me. I know someone who will….
Alice: Leah, can you meet me at the treaty line by the creek tomorrow? I need to talk to you. I'm dropping Bella off at the treaty line by the road. 11:30 ok for you? … ok… thank you Leah. Oh, and can we keep this between us?
I take down a mountain lion and head back to the house. Jumping in through my window. Bella's still asleep so I lay out the birthday outfit I picked for her. I decide to take a quick shower before heading back downstairs to help the others wrap their gifts and decorate. Esme was able to go back to the store to get the items we left behind. Everyone is excited, considering this is the first time in years, we'll be celebrating a birthday. And what best way than to celebrate Bella's 18th. Edward rolls his eyes at the 18 gifts I got her. Stating that Bella will think it's too much. She probably will but I don't care. Rose and I, put the finishing touches on her car. Rose was able to restore every part. We painted the car jet black, but something was still missing. I get the idea to draw a tribal wolf in yellow and with light blue eyes on the back. The others think Bella will love it and I hope they're right.
I get a vision of Bella waking up and I head to the kitchen to start making her a breakfast. Luckily Esme is there to supervise. She'll be showering and getting ready, so we have enough time to make her a little waffle cake. We all stand at the bottom of the stairs when we hear her coming out my room.
Alice, Esme, Carlisle, Edward, Rose, Emmett: HAPPY BIRTHDAY BELLA!
Bella: Jesus guys, what is it with you Cullens and trying to give me a heart attack?
Alice: again, you're fine. And stop being a party pooper.
Bella: yeah yeah. Thank you guys. Emmett, I wanted to say I'm so sorry dude…
Edward: uh he's not allowed to talk; he was only given permission to say happy birthday. But he says it's ok. He pushed you and he should've listened to Alice.
Bella looks between Emmett and Rose, before just nodding her head and going to give Esme and Carlisle a hug. I grab her hand leading her over to her breakfast.
Bella: is that a waffle cake? Guys!
Esme: Alice made it for you.
Alice: and Esme helped.
She gives both of us a hug before sitting down to eat. We all talk about our previous birthdays. When she's done, I tell her I'll be driving her down and picking her up from La Push because her car isn't ready yet. She automatically starts protesting when she sees the table of gifts.
Alice: nope, you're opening each one. There was a no return policy. Besides, the best gift is outside. You can see it after your party. Now let's go, the sooner you get to your first party, the sooner you can come back to the best party!
I push her out the door and we head off to the La Push welcome sign.
