I received a few questions after the last chapter and I'll be answering them before we begin.
Ulovemilkboy19: Will Peter be using the Stark suit?
He probably won't. I always liked how Peter was a self-made hero, so I didn't really like how Tony made his suit for him. However, he will be making other suits for himself, mostly from the suits featured in the Spider-Man PS4 game, such as the Advanced Suit, the Electrically Insulated Suit, and the Velocity Suit, among others. He also may or may not make suits for some of his classmates.
Guest: Nejire, Kendo, or Mt. Lady.
Not really sure what you're asking here. Yes, they will likely be in the story later, except for Mt. Lady, as there's really no reason for her to be in the story anymore. If you're telling me to ship Peter with them, that's also a no. I already have a plan on who he'll be shipped with, one I've put a lot of thought into. So how about a game? I want to hear from you guys. Who do you think I'll pair him with? I want to hear your reasons, why you think it would be the case, and just your overall opinion. Your only hint is that they will NOT be Nejire, Kendo, Mt. Lady, Tsuyu, or Momo. The correct answer may surprise you. I look forward to hearing your guesses, and I really hope somebody gets it right. However, I will neither confirm or deny incorrect/correct guesses.
That's all the questions answered. Let's continue.
Peter was feeling pretty good about life. He was a student of UA, he'd heard from Kirishima that he'd placed number 1 in the quirk assessment test, and apparently Mr. Aizawa had been lying about expelling somebody to motivate everybody to do their best. Kind of a dick move, but Peter could see his logic.
Plus, he had made 2 new friends yesterday.
Last night, at the development studio
"Guess this is it then." Peter finally found the place he was looking for, a reinforced steel door marking its entrance. As he reached for the doorknob, Peter's spider sense suddenly went off. Sidestepping away, the door was suddenly blown off it's hinges, a huge explosion blowing through the doorway.
"WHAT THE HELL?! HEY, IS ANYBODY IN THERE?!" Peter yelled into the burning room.
"DAMN IT HATSUME, I TOLD YOU TO STOP BLOWING UP YOUR WORK AREA!"
Peter could hear an angry voice through the smoke. Now realizing somebody might be in danger, he sprang into the room, putting out any fires he came across with his webs.
Soon, all the fires had been smothered and the smoke slowly began dissipating. Peter was then face to face with a pink-haired girl wearing steampunk goggles and a short man with an excavator claw for a helmet.
"Are you guys okay? What happened in here?" Peter asked worriedly.
Neither said anything. The steampunk girl's eyes widened, her mouth hanging open. She was practically drooling.
"Um, miss? Are you-" She suddenly sprang onto Peter, knocking him to the ground.
"IT'S YOU! YOU'RE THE GUY WITH THE HIGH TECH SUIT! PULL IT OUT! LET ME SEE IT!" she screamed excitedly.
"EXCUSE ME?!" Peter yelled back, his face entirely red.
The girl was then pulled off his back by the short man, who held her at bay as she tried to return to Peter.
"DOWN HATSUME! YOU CANNOT JUMP YOUR FELLOW STUDENTS!" he yelled sternly.
She continued to flail around for a solid minute before finally relaxing, so the short man released her.
"I'm sorry about her. Technology is her life. Show her a new gadget and she won't leave you alone until you explain what it is and what it does. My name is Power Loader, and this is-"
MEI HATSUME, PLEASED TO MEET YOU! JUST CALL ME MEI!"
"Does this girl not have an off button?"
"Um, hi. So, is anybody hurt? There was a big explosion. I put out whatever fires I could on my way here."
"Don't worry about that." Power Loader waved him off. "Hatsume and I are the only ones here. Besides, with her, explosions are pretty much a daily occurence. Now that the crisis is averted, allow me to say it's a pleasure to finally meet you."
"Thank you sir. So, this is the development studio, where all the suits and equipment are made?"
"That's correct. Why? Got something you want to request?"
"Not exactly. I always preferred to make my own gear, and I was hoping I would be allowed to work here. Is that fine?" Peter asked politely.
"Well, there's no rule saying you can't as long as space is available and a teacher is supervising. It's a bit strange to hear that a hero course student wants to make his own gear. Do you know what you're doing?" Peter had a feeling the man was raising an eyebrow.
"Yes sir, I do. I've made almost everything I use. The only thing I didn't make was my current suit. It was a...gift...from my mentor." Power Loader noticed the pause, so he didn't pry any further.
"That suit is certainly a work of art. May I see it?"
"YES, PLEASE! SHOW IT TO US!" Mei yelled excitedly.
Happy to show off Mr. Stark's suit, Peter tapped his chest piece twice, his suit growing around him. He then deactivated his mask so Mei and Power Loader could see his face.
They both looked extremely excited. Mei was drooling again and Power Loader was repeatedly opening and closing his mouth, trying and failing to make words.
"Wait, before you say anything, there's more." Peter turned his back to them and activated his armaments, the 4 spider legs emerging. He heard Mei shriek behind him while Power Loader made some kind of confused groaning noise.
"How...how does that work? I see no compartments or chamber on your suit. How does it activate in the first place?" He asked slowly, as though it pained him to admit that he didn't understand the suit.
"Well, the suit isn't a solid piece. It's made up of trillions of nanobots that come together and link up to form the suit." Peter deactivated the suit and pulled the spider-shaped container off his chest, showing it to them. "As for the legs, they're made of rapidly-growing monatomic iron alloy crystals. I activate a command in the suit and they begin constructing or deconstructing themselves."
Power Loader looked deeply impressed, while Mei seemed about ready to pass out from excitement.
"But how does the suit hold up against hits? If it truly is made up of nanobots, it must be extremely weak."
"The nanobots themselves are 97% carbide steel and 3% vibranium, the strongest metal on Earth. Plus, there are extra nanobots in the container, so if the suit is damaged, more come out to repair it."
Peter spent nearly an hour just talking about the suit with his 2 new friends before he finally remembered why he had come.
"But anyway, the reason I'm here is that I need to make more. I was in a fight a while ago that caused some damage to the suit, and I didn't have the resources to fix it. I still don't have any vibranium, but I should be able to create functioning nanobots to replace the ones that were destroyed." He explained.
"By all means, go ahead. Sit down wherever you like and get to work."
"AND LET US WATCH! I WANT TO SEE HOW YOU MAKE YOUR BABIES!"
Peter had already gotten used to Mei's...strange choice of words over the past hour, so he wasn't bothered by her calling the nanobots his babies.
He sat down at a nearby workbench and got to work. Supplies were all around the studio, giving him everything he needed. The pair watched everything Peter did very closely, not daring to make a sound. Peter could hear Mei scribbling out notes behind him, even when he did something minor like connecting two tiny cables.
Finally, his work was finished. When he arrived at the studio, it was 3 in the afternoon. It was currently a quarter to midnight and he had replaced every single nanobot he had used and then some, creating extra to store in his compartment. Pressing a button on the spider insignia, a small vacuum tube emerged, transporting the nanobots to the main device.
"So that's how they're made." Power Loader breathed out, still not quite sure if what he was seeing was real.
"Yup. Pretty cool, right? But, I have a favor to ask. Don't replicate it for people. If you want to use the technology for yourself or heroes you absolutely know you can trust, fine. But don't start distributing the tech to big companies or other students. I don't know what would happen if a bunch of people my age got to use technology they didn't understand, and big companies could end up delivering the tech to people who shouldn't have it. So please, keep this close to the vest, okay?"
"Parker, this is revolutionary technology. You're asking me to keep a secret about something that could change the world. You pitch this to the right people and you'd become a billionaire in less than a month." Power Loader began.
"BUT-"
"However," He cut Peter off. "I understand. You're thinking rationally, about future problems and not just monetary gain. Besides, it isn't my technology to sell in the first place. You've got nothing to worry about from me kid."
"OR ME!" Mei jumped into the conversation. "I MAKE MY BABIES MYSELF! I WOULDN'T FEEL RIGHT IF I USED SOMEBODY ELSE'S TECH TO SPREAD MY NAME! I WON'T SHARE THIS WITH ANYBODY PETER!"
Peter was a bit unsure of how to respond. He was fully expecting to argue over this for a while, but they agreed so easily. He smiled at them, happy they were so understanding.
"This suit is likely the pinnacle of technology. Even if you didn't make it, I consider it impressive that you even know how to work on it. It's a shame such a bright mind couldn't be a part of the support course, but I respect your decision."
"Actually Mr. Power Loader, would it be alright if I keep coming back? I've got one other major project I need to work on. Her name is Karen."
"Her?" Power Loader asked quizzically.
Peter then spent another 20 minutes explaining Karen. Who she was, what she was, what she did for Peter, and what her programming entailed.
When he finished, the two finally broke. Power Loader had to sit down, crashing into a chair with his head in his hands while Mei fell to the ground in a daze, rolling around and muttering too quickly for Peter to understand her.
"A nanotech suit is one thing. But an A.I. capable of running the suit? An A.I. advanced enough to develop a personality, and to hack into government systems in seconds?" Power Loader sounded like he wanted to cry.
"Maybe I told them a little too much about Karen. Hopefully they don't start thinking she's dangerous."
"Yeah, she's my friend. I haven't been able to talk to her for a while, but I know she's still functional. If she wasn't, the suit wouldn't continue working. And I thought that if I got her up and running, it could benefit the school."
Power Loader looked up at Peter. From the little bit of his face Peter could see, he looked suspicious.
"How?" He asked seriously.
"Well, Karen is an extremely advanced A.I. The only one I know of that's more advanced than her is F.R.I.D.A.Y., my mentor's A.I. That pretty much means she's the second most advanced A.I. in the world. If I downloaded her to the school's mainframe, she could help run it. Security, exams, intercom notices, and so much more. She could do literally everything while being practically impossible to hack, which would take away from the workload for you and the other teachers. Plus, I can make copies of her, so I could still have her main drive remain in my suit."
Power Loader was trying his best to frown. He couldn't let the kid know that he was seriously considering this idea when he should have shut it down immediately. An A.I. that could develop a personality was troublesome and unpredictable. But if the main drive was in Peter's suit, he could shut her down at any time, effectively eliminating any potential risks.
He tried his hardest, but was unable to contain his excitement at the idea.
"It'll take time to get her to work, IF we can get her to work. Even then, I'll need to clear the idea with principal Nezu and the other teachers. But, if the idea goes through there shouldn't be any problems. Before I forget, here."
Power Loader walked into his office and emerged again with a small metal card.
"What's this?" Peter asked quizzically.
"A guest inventor's pass. Technically, I'm not allowed to let just anybody make things here. I only allowed you to because I wanted to see your suit's inner workings in person. With this pass, that problem is solved. You can come and go anytime you like, just as freely as any support course student."
Peter stared down at his gift. It was a shiny silver metal with the words "guest inventor" etched into it in red.
"Thank you sir. I'll come by often."
Mei then recovered from her shock and finally sprang off the ground, getting much too close to Peter's face.
"COME BY EVERYDAY! I WANT TO SEE ALL OF YOUR BABIES!"
Peter only chuckled at her antics.
"Okay. I'll see you guys tomorrow. Wait, what time is it?" Peter glanced at the clock on the wall, only now realizing it was past midnight.
"OH CRAP! I GOTTA GO! BYE GUYS, IT WAS NICE MEETING YOU!"
Peter dashed out of the room, leaving his new friends behind.
Present, front of UA
"Won't be long now Karen. I'll get you working soon."
Peter continued his walk through the halls, reaching his class before too long. He was about to open the door when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
"We need to talk about yesterday." Mr. Aizawa told him.
"...Yeah, I know." Peter groaned.
Aizawa led him down the hall a short ways from the class before stopping.
"I'm sorry I-"
"Stop." Mr. Aizawa silenced him. "Let me do the talking. I'll be the first to admit I went too far. But anybody can see you're a smart kid, so I'm sure you've realized by now what I was doing." Peter nodded his head. "While it's admirable that you're willing to stick up for your fellow students, this is a school and I am your teacher. You will respect me as long as you are here. I never want to hear another outburst like that from you, understand?"
"Yes sir."
"Good. Now as much as I'd like to move on with my day, there needs to be a punishment. Whatever your reasons were, you blatantly disrespected me. I can tell you've got an imagination on you, so I doubt you'd do much reflecting in detention. Instead, I expect you to do 50 hours of community service before this semester ends. Got it?"
"That doesn't sound too bad." Peter thought.
"Yes sir." Peter said again, smiling this time.
"Why the hell is this kid smiling?" Aizawa was confused by Peter's actions, but didn't comment on them.
"Great. You're a good kid Peter. Maybe a little too good. Now get to class. I'll be in soon." Peter wasn't sure, but he thought he saw the Aizawa give him the tiniest of smiles.
Shaking his head, he went to class, where he was greeted by most of his classmates.
"What's up guys?" Peter smiled as everybody waved to him and smiled his way.
"Peter, you're crazy, you know that, ribbit? You should feel lucky you didn't get expelled yesterday." Tsuyu told him bluntly.
"Yeah, I've been hearing how crazy I am a lot lately." Peter shrugged as he glanced at Kirishima, who flashed him a thumbs up and a grin.
Finding his seat, Peter went through his first proper day of school. He did fine in history, math, and Japanese, though he was a bit behind the others on quirk law. He kept forgetting what he believed was right and what was actually law were 2 different things.
The day flew by, and before he knew it, they had reached the final class of the day; the heroics course.
"I am...COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!" All Might's voice boomed as he dramatically swung into the class.
"That was normal?" Peter face-palmed at the buff man's strange concept of normal.
The rest of the class was excited to see All Might, cheering for him as he walked to the front of the class.
"Hello young heroes. It's time for you to do what you came to UA for! Today will be your first official lesson in heroics!" He half-shouted with a flourish. That's right young heroes, today you will be doing...BATTLE TRAINING!"
Peter heard Bakugo excitedly say "Battle…" while Midoriya nervously finished with "training."
"However, no hero is complete without their tools! You submitted your designs to the support course when you enrolled and now they're all ready, just for you! Your hero costumes are here!"
All Might produced a remote, pressing a button and causing 19 numbered cases to emerge from the wall.
"Collect your costumes and head down to the training center young heroes. I'll be waiting!" All Might quickly left the room.
The students excitedly grabbed their respective cases while Peter remained in his seat.
"Hey Peter, where's your costume?" Mina asked him curiously.
Peter simply unbuttoned his school uniform, revealing the spider compartment on his undershirt. Mina still looked confused.
"Oh right, Eijirou's the only one who's seen me activate it. I'll keep it a surprise. You'll see when we get down there."
Mina shrugged and joined the others in excitedly talking about their upcoming training.
"This is gonna be so much fun!" Tooru shouted excitedly.
"I can't wait to show you all my dazzling hero costume" Aoyama sparkled as he did a dramatic pose.
"Who do you think will be battling who?" Kaminari asked nobody in particular.
Jiro responded "No clue, but I feel bad for whoever has to fight…"
She trailed off as everybody seemed to realize the same thing all at once. They all turned their heads to see the American boy, sitting at his desk and staring at the ceiling, not appearing to be concerned about their upcoming training.
If there was one thing that they could agree on, it was that nobody wanted to fight Peter.
And scene. I know, breaking the battle training into 2 parts, how dare I? I've got plenty of ideas on how to tortur- I mean...enrich the class' learning now that Peter's a part of the training. Next chapter will be really fun to write. I still think chapter 3 was my favorite though. I was laughing so much at my own jokes. I'm sorry if that seems narcissistic, but I just loved Peter telling the literal pro heroes that they could be heroes if they trained hard while also effortlessly beating them.
Next chapter will be up before 3pm tomorrow. Remember to post your guesses on the ship, along with any questions you might have.
Aren signing off.
