Author comment: Second chapter here! Time skip time cuz I don't know much about how babies are raised. I do know about children as I was the go-to daycare worker in my old church when the adults needed someone to watch over the children while they were having a meeting.

Gonna get more Jackal on this one like I said, not too long compared to the previous chapter but for this series i'm looking to have the chapters longer rather than bite-sized pieces like my other fics per chapter.

Enjoy the show!

Brooklin Elementary 2008, September 8th

It was a nice day as can be for Brooklin in September. Sunny yet windy, perfect weather to not be too hot or too cold but just right. Much to the detriment of Jackal it was also the perfect weather for him to start kindergarten. They arrived 10 minutes early and outside the car window, he saw multiple kids either holding onto their parents not wanting to let go, or the opposite with some parents not wanting to let their children go. He even saw one where both the parent and child didn't want to go and only separated when the security guard for the school walked towards them to make sure it wasn't a kidnapping.

Jackal however did not want to go. He already knew enough so why did he have to go? However, it seemed his mother wanted him to go, which is why he was tolerating the idea. Jackal did not know much about what parental love is like, he grew up in a cold blood thirsty dark guild of demons after all, but as far as human mothers are concerned Susan was the closest thing to one, his dad he much preferred. He did not mind calling her Mother but his Father, Andrew, was the better one in his eyes. He always made the best food he ever tasted.

"Come on Jackal, you can't stay in your chair forever honey. It's time for you to go to school now and Mom and Dad have to go to work. And if you are good today I'll make you your favorite chocolate strawberries okay?" Susan said in a loving voice to Jackal, smiling at him.

"We'll even get the big strawberries from the store you like just down the road," Andrew said.

Jackal was now in a tough spot. When he had turned 5 years old his parents had thrown him a small birthday party and while the human food he had experienced had tasted well nothing could top the divine food of heaven itself. Strawberries covered in chocolate topped with vanilla frosting. They knew him too well and he'd be damned if he didn't get those strawberries!

"Okay, Mom and Dad. I'll be good but I want the big ones like Dad said!" Jackal said.

"You got yourself a deal son. Now off ya go then, not gonna make any friends by staying here. Now say goodbye to your mom before you leave." Andrew said in his fatherly tone.

"Bye Mom and Dad," Jackal said as he exited the car and towards the school. Prepped with a backpack full of school supplies, his scarf that he would refuse anyone the right to wear, specially made boots for his clawed feet, and special pants that allowed his tail to wiggle free. He walked through the gate towards the classroom he was assigned to.

Raynor family Handa Civic

"Not even 5 minutes and I already miss him," Andrew said as he drove down the road.

"He'll be fine, sure he's rude to everyone who isn't us but he doesn't go around hitting people like other kids. Hell, he has more control over his powers than other supe kids, remember that headline on the news the other day about that one kid whose eyes melted?" Susan said to her husband, that it was fortunate that she was in her casual wear on her day off to enjoy the few days they have as a family they have throughout the year.

"I Know but I can't help but worry. Remember when we were at the park trying to fly a kite? That was the first time we found out just how strong he was when he lifted a bolted park bench out of the way when it flew under it. I just worry that there might be something that will make him do that here." Andrew said in concern as he turned left on a street.

"Don't remind me, we had to book it out of there before anyone noticed. God, we were lucky no one was around them. But we're going to have to trust he doesn't get into trouble, we got the vought representative to meet after his class ends." Susan said in annoyance at the future interaction with Vought for intelligence gathering. And the upcoming tantrum Jackle will bring.

"I know Susan. I'm sure he'll make the right decisions anyway." Andrew said parking the car at a local fruit stand, the one his son liked.

Lunchtime recess

Jackal had made a horrible decision on this disastrous first day. It started normal. He introduced himself as Jackal Raynor, it seemed alright as all the kids were constantly looking at him. He did not know why as everyone back in his old world wouldn't really glance twice as there were all kinds of people back there. Some were straight-up cat people from an alternate dimension if the talks he overheard Lamy had were to be believed. Though there were some heroes that Vought had, some that looked animalistic but they were very rare apparently. Much to his disappointment, some were blatantly just costumes.

It didn't help much that everyone thought he was a cat. All the pesky human girls just wouldn't stop asking him if he was one. Some of them even had dared to try and touch his tail and even his ears! Of course, his senses were superior and he would just glare at them until they left him alone. He didn't listen much to their lessons. He already knew the alphabet and basic math. The teachers seemed to have caught on though so now he is stuck with a harder math sheet during math period. It was a really boring division to the point he seriously considered blowing up the classroom just to go home early. Of course, the rewards for staying the full day outweigh that thought.

All of these were general annoyances. What made this a disaster? A Certain supe child named Buck Bunk. At first, he thought the child had some weird skin condition like that ver-ie-go (vitiligo) he heard that some famous singer had decades ago. Turns out he was a supe as he ended up turning into different elements and even a puddle. It was not very impressive as he could only turn into water or stone. When lunch recess happened he simply sat down and ate the chicken sandwich his dad made him. The lunch was only tolerable as a bunch of human goblins surrounded him in awe.

Unfortunately for him, he did not pay attention to where he at down.

"Uh, Hi!" A voice said next to him. Jackal looked next to him and saw a black girl with afro pigtails, an oversized yellow shirt with an elephant on it, and her left arm in a cast. "My Name is Maya Nubian. What's yours?" She said giving him a friendly smile.

"Jackle," he said while eating his sandwich.

"Like the animal?"

"Yes."

"Cool! Are you supe? Your ears and tail are moving." Maya said in excitement.

"I guess I am," Jackal said paying more attention to his chocolate milk than the annoying girl next to him.

"Neat! So do you have the powers of a Jackal? Can you talk to jackals, can you talk to dogs?" Maya asked him in repeated questioning.

"I can track people and eat fire. Now leave me alone." Jackal said, leaving the table and walking to the playground outside.

"Wait you can eat fire? What more can you do, make stuff explode?" Maya asked following him outside.

"Well…Not yet." Jackal said mumbling and looking away from Maya. As much as he can feel his ability to cast curses, they are all nowhere near the power they once were. He was made with the knowledge of how to use his curses and it has carried over, unfortunately, that did not mean the strength did as well. Whenever he had the to opportunity be out of his parent's sight home he would always grab random rocks and try to cast his [Explosion] curses again. What used to be explosions and bombs capable of destroying entire towns was only enough to be compared to a firework with sparks to match.'

"Can you show me? I bet it looks cool, plus I don't wanna be on the playground right now. Some I hate is there." Maya asked Jackal pointing to the empty field nearby.

Jackal thought about telling her to fuck off but remembered his dad's words in trying to make friends before he did. 'Those fairy tail members always seemed to get stronger when they had them around. Maybe I can become friends with her and get the power of friendship for myself!'Jackal smiled at his self-imposed brilliant idea and, very reluctantly, said "Yeah sure, just don't get in my way." He said while walking to the field.

"Okay." Maya responded back following Jackal to a patch of the field that had noticeable large pebbles and good-sized rocks.

"So how do your powers work when you explode stuff?"

"They aren't powers, they're curses. See?" Jackal said howling a rock up, it glowed a bright greenish-yellow light but not enough where you were blinded. Maya looked at the rock and noticed a small circle symbol on it with a pattern that looked like a basketball.

"Woah! So you curse the rock to explode like magic?"

"Curses are different than magic. Besides, curses are much cooler, see?" Jackal threw the rock as hard as he could, it went high in the air and blew up loudly with sparks and a cloud of dust of what used to be the rock flying away in the wind.

"Awsome! They're like fireworks, can you do it again, please?" Maya's eyes went wide with wonder at the pretty display that attracted all of the kids who were in the playground yard.

'Yes! The Explosion was bigger this time! But I don't really feel this friendship power though. Maybe I need to try more.' Jackal thought to himself.

"Fine, keep handing me more rocks." He said as he proceeded to throw more in the air, making an impromptu firework show. Other children surrounded the two and gave of multiple 'ohs' and 'ahhs'. However, one child in particular did not enjoy the fireworks display, instead, they got mad, frustrated, and angry.

That child came up to the duo.

"Wow, that's pretty cool. But wanna know someone just as cool?" Jackal had stopped shifting his attention along with the other kids. A multi-colored child came up to him, space made between him, the crowd, and Jackal.

"Hi im Buck Bunk also known as. KID-CHEMICAL!" Bunk then places his arms crossed and puffs his chest like a kid superhero. To everyone else he seems to embody the appearance and ethos of voughts heroism. To Jackal though, he looked like a retarded inbred clown from a 1930s comic book whose ink had smeared all over the character. Jackal proceeds to ignore the retarded inbred clown and proceeded to make more explosions in the air.

"I said. Im Buck Bunk and Im KID-CHE-" However before the young supe could finish his sentence he was interrupted by a mouth filled with a non-caring voice.

"You told me already," Jackal said, moving to get another handful of rocks from Maya.

, but saw Maya look at the interrupter with a look of fear and was breathing deeply slowly stepping back but closer to Jackal as well.

Buck Bunk POV:

Buck knew he was going to hate this new school. His parents were mad that he got in trouble at the vought school for supe kids like him. He didn't understand why though. He was special! He was freaking Kid-Chemical! He could turn into anything he wanted! In fact it was the girl's fault for not being a supe anyway. I mean come on, her parents are Nubian Prince and Nubia, the fact she doesn't have any powers means she shouldn't belong there. So why was he being punished for punching her? It was a supe-only school!

"Now it's that little blackys fault that he's in a school for regular kids. To make it worse it was the same school that girl was sent to. At least I have something to take out my anger on. Good thing it's lunch. I'm going to show her and everyone else why you don't mess with kid-Chemical.

Buck went to the playground and stood atop the slide and struck a pose that his parents had him practice for the kid supe awards. Everyone was paying attention to him and he decided to show off what he could do. He turned into stone and made his hands turn into different shapes like hammers, scissors, and other basic tools. He turned into a puddle sliding down the slide before suddenly transforming back into a child, remembering to take his clothes with him this time and putting them on while transforming.

'Yes! Just some more dumb dumbs and I can hurt that normie and everyone won't even be mad at me.' Buck thought to himself, he had done this trick before. Do some fancy stuff and people will like you enough that you won't get in trouble if you do something they don't like.

Then fireworks started to be sounded off nearby. The fellow kids who surrounded him now left him and surrounded what looked like.

'Wait, is that another supe? I'M the superhero here! Besides that guy looks like a dog more than a human, he doesn't look like a superhero at all. More like a…villain.'

When Buck Bunk finished his thought he had a smile on his face. No one else in the area noticed the difference between this smile and the one he practiced for little super contests. This one had pure malice in it. Buck went to introduce himself like how he practiced with his parents and expected a reaction.

"Regardless of what this guy says I'm going to spin it to make it so he throws the first punch then I'll knock him out! It'll show him that BUCK BUNK is the only supe in this school.". Then a moment of silence passed. " Maybe he was deaf? Whatever I'll just say it again." As Buck introduced himself again he was interrupted. His introduction was interrupted by very dismissive words.

"You told me already." The green dog supe child said. Buck was now visibly mad, he did not like this dog one bit.

'Why isn't he paying attention to me? Wait, that's the normie girl!' Kid-Chemical thought to himself an idea, a very good idea.

"You know it's not safe to launch fireworks without an adult. Look at her arm, it's broken because of you!" He said, the crowd of children believing his word.

"I'm not launching fireworks, I'm using my curses to blow them up." The dog supe said grabbing a rock from the ground and throwing it in the air, the rock glowed brightly before exploding into a bigger blast than anything shown before. Making the crowd of children let out a loud 'Woah!'.

"I didn't break her arm either, it was like that when I met her," Jackal said continuing the rock-throwing and exploding.

"Yeah, You broke it remember Buck! You said you didn't want a normie in a school of supes and broke my arm to get me to leave! My parents grounded me because they thought I made you do it. Superheroes don't pick on others, Buck! You'd know that if you were one!" Maya said in anger at Buck, seeing through his friendly facade.

The crowd of spectators gave a collective 'ooooooo' and one even shouted 'She just smacked talked you!'.

"Oh that's it!" Buck was not angry on a level more than when he saw the powerless black girl go to his old school. Buck yelled out loudly "DON'T MAKE FUN OF ME! IM KID-CHEMICAL! IM A SUPERHERO!" Buck said as he kicked his foot on the ground, some dirt flung out and landed on Maya, who yelped at the flying projectiles.

Instead of gaining his attention. The Green supe replied. "And I'm Jackal who doesn't care. The only reason you're not on the ground right now is because my mom told me not to start any fights today." Jackal said as he finished his display and walked away, making sure Maya was in front of him.

Bucks' anger was to the point where bubbles literally started forming on his head. He didn't care anymore about making Jackal a villain now. He just wanted to punch him until he calmed down. Unknown to the enraged Multicolored supe child, instead of appearing heroic to his fellow students he was looking like the villain he was trying to make the, seemingly, victim look like.

"SHUT UP! What do you know about being a superhero anyway? You're not a supe like me!" Buck yelled.

"What kind of superhero attacks someone who can't fight back? You sound more like a villain to me." Maya shouted back angrily.

Buck now lost his temper. "SHUT UP! I'M THE SUPERHERO HERE AND I SAY WHAT'S RIGHT! AND I SAY YOU TWO SHOULD SHUT UP! I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE DOG BOY BUT IF YOU'RE A SUPE THEN YOUR MOM MUST HAVE BEEN DESPERATE ENOUGH TO FUCK A DOG!" Buck smiled as he said that.

Jackal stopped and turned back towards Buck. "When I see you cry. I'm going to enjoy making you cry more." he said with a wide toothy grin that showed off his jagged canine teeth, his fist glowing, and then charged at him

"I'm gonna make sure your mom fucks a cat next time and beat him to death along with you!" Kid-Chemical said as he transformed his hands into a hammer.

Buck swung his arms down toward Jackal Expecting to hit him. Then he felt a pain he had never felt before and saw his own arm snap in the opposite direction it should bend. Before Buck could even yell out in pain hee saw a glowing black-clawed fist towards his face, he felt something hot on his face and a loud boom making his ears ring along with feeling a cracking sensation and pain in his nose.

"AHHHh! Oww." Buck said, crying in pain he had never felt before, grabbing his nose with normal hands. Tears went down his eyes as his bravado left his body, leaving him on the ground sniveling.

Jackal walked towards the grounded buck, "Like I said, cry more.". Jackal kicked Buck in the stomach, making him vomit and cry even more. Buck was scared and on the ground, the only thing that stopped the fight, if it could be called that, was the teachers who came out to see the commotion. The last thing he saw was Jackle being held back by the Normie girl, before closing his eyes and passing out.

With Susan at the Raynor's household.

"That's his development so far Mallory," Susan spoke into a phone in her house office. It was a modest room, just a shelf of books, files, and records. A file cabinet and a simple desk and monitor.

"Any signs of other powers or unusual developments?" Mallory asked, the authority strong in her voice.

"Yes, we found out a couple of days ago that he could eat fire."

"I'm sorry did you say eat fire? How did you find that out?" Mallory asked, not sure if she was hearing it right or not.

"My husband was cooking some dinner and spilled some cooking oil on the flame, Jackal just opened his mouth and the fire just went in like a vacuum."

"And here I thought that we'd just have a spectacular Jackleman. I'll bring up the update in the next meeting and please, take care of yourself Susan. The offer is still up on the table but not for long, the lab boys say once he's past 8 they don't have any cells that could hold him." Mallory said, her voice in concern.

"I'm aware Mallory. But like I said before. No".

"I understand." Mallory said before hanging up the call.

Susan sighed. 5 years had passed of seeing a cute baby grow into a young boy. She had a supe child and as much as she hated saying it. She couldn't be happier. Sure her son could be a hardass, even saying words he shouldn't even be saying, but then again so could she.

Andrew was a godsend though, he knew how to talk to Jackal and took care of the house stuff, played with him a lot to keep him from breaking stuff from boredom... again. She still does not know what happened to Andrew's rock collection he put outside, it didn't take a genius to figure out their son might have been involved.

What Susan mostly does is teach her son how not to be a dick to others and make sure he isn't turning into a maniac. Susan looked at her desk and saw a photo of her, Andrew, and Jackal all with a big smile as Jackal blew out birthday candles on his strawberry shortcake. She smiled, she could see that despite his resting bitch face her son is truly hers.

She looked away as the sounds of falling pans were heard and footsteps of a fast pace came closer to the door it was opened so fast the door ricocheted out the wall, creating a hole in the drywall from the impact of the doorknob.

"Andrew you just fixed that doorknob what's going on?" Susan asked in concern.

Andrew who was wearing his 'Dads the head chef' Apron covered in chocolate dip and smears of strawberries, was panting heavily and had a sweaty face and spoke.

"Jackal got in a fight!"

"WHAT!" Susan said, she left immediately and grabbed her car keys.

School office waiting room.

Jackal did not regret doing what he did to that skin cancer mutant child. He was gonna initially just knock him out with a punch then when he heard the insult towards his mom he only hurt him and nothing else even was considered entering his mind until the girl broke him out of his trance. 'Serves that shithead right. But why did I get so mad? I never felt this way before. What is this feeling? I know it's not because I feel bad for doing what I did or because I inadvertently intervened in protecting that girl. So what is it?

Jackal pondered his emotional predicament. Before he was accepting of the fact he was made for the sole purpose of killing and took twisted and demented joy in it. However his feelings had changed as he accepted his Human mother, perhaps this was the reason for this new inner turmoil. Jackal for the first time was thinking how someone he cared about would think of him, even if he didn't know it.

"Uhhh, hey?" a girl's voice said next to Jackal.

Jackal saw it was Maya. If he recalled correctly she had been attacked by him before. Jackal had simply given her a look that made her eyes go wide and was left staring at him. Annoyed he decided to ask her some questions.

"What do you want?" Jackal said.

The dark-skin girl smiled and held her hands together between her legs. "Thank you for stopping him. " She said.

"I didn't do it for you. He made fun of my Mom." Jackal said wagging his feet off the chair he was on.

"Oh, but you looked cool though. You were like a real hero! Plus It felt good seeing him cry like that." Maya said smiling to herself at the victim's deserved suffering.

Jackal did not like the word hero. Only when his mom used it on him. But for some reason the same feeling of warmth he felt with his mom he felt with Maya. Before he realized it, Jackal was blushing a bit from the praise. Jackal straightened himself up crossing his arms quickly and looking away from Maya.

Maya felt down, maybe Jackal didn't want to be involved with her. He was a supe after all, they don't talk well about normies like her.

"...Thank you. And I hope we can be friends too." Jackal said in mumbling to himself, trying to keep his dad's request. Maya smiled.

"Of course! I cant wait to see what kind of cool stuff we'll get into." Maya gave him a true warm smile that she held with glee.

'Huh, my first friend and it's a human, I should be disgusted by now. I shouldn't even be feeling this either but…maybe this friendship thing isn't so bad.' Jackal thought to himself, hiding half his face in his scarf but underneath it held a very small smile.

"Jackal!" A loud and authoritative voice shouted as loud as it could, it was a woman in a black blazer who looked worried. To Maya, it looked to be some kind of businesswoman but to Jackal, it was his mom and she was very angry.

"You are coming home right now and we are going to have a very big talk. Come on!" Susan grabbed Jackal's arm and dragged him out of the room.

"See you tomorrow Jackal!" Maya said to Jackal before the door to the outside closed on him.

The mother and son passed by Andrew who was talking with the principal outside along with another red-haired woman in a suit. They walked near the car and Susan pulled him to the side, her face close to his.

"What were you thinking fighting a supe! What did we tell you? NOT GET INTO TROUBLE!" Susan spoke harshly to her son.

"But I-" Jackal spoke but was Cut off.

"No buts! You broke a kids arm and nose and then ruptured his stomach! Do you know how close you were to killing him?!" Susan saidn continued berating Jackal

"I was-"

"And why didn't you tell us that you could make things explode? What if the wrong thing or a person exploded? Why did you think it was a good idea to fight another kid! Answer me!" Susan yelled towards her son frustrated at the actions he had taken grabbing his arm to make him answer, her voice was becoming dry at the yelling. She couldn't understand what possible reason for Jackal to go off in anger the way he did, she saw a supe child be loaded up in an ambulance for god's sake!

"Because he was making fun of you alright!" Jackal said, tears forming for the first time in both of his lives. He didn't know why he started to cry, it was a feeling completely alien to him. But the person who took care of him was more than just angered, anger he could expect and handle. They were disappointed in him, and that hurt him greater than any physical pain he could remember.

Susan paused for a moment. She thought her son was just another supe for a moment, he didn't change what he did but for a moment she saw her son as a thing to be controlled and that did not sit well with her. She breathed in and let out a sigh she had wanted to let loose ever since the news hit.

"Susan, Jackal didn't start the fight. The other kid did he was just defending himself." Andrew came in between the two, who had overheard the entire conversation while talking with the school principal.

"This doesent what happened was okay alright Jackal. You only fight when you have to like today, not when you want to. Understood!' Susan said to her son crossed arms and her voice stern.

"Yes," Jackal said his voice calming down from the crying.

"Yes what?"

"Yes, Mom."

"Good. We're going home, we'll go to the meeting another day." Andrew said bending over and putting his hand on Jackal's shoulder and reached out with his other hand and gently pushed Susan's back.

The family entered their honda civic leaving the school grounds, leaving behind a running red-haired woman chasing after the car trying to gather their attention, before stopping and cussing at the failure to catch a potential future 7 member.

In the car there was a loud silence, Jackal sat in the back seat looking out the window. "I made a friend today."

"That's great, who is it? Andrew said taking a quick glance at the rearview mirror before focusing his attention on the road.

"Maya Nubian."

"Thats…Great" Susan smiled at her son before turning her head to the road and letting her head hit the headrest.

'Well, at least I got one thing right today. Maybe having a friend won't be so bad, especially if I can get stronger and make mom and dad not so mad at me.' Jackal thought to himself as he brainstormed how to further gain back the strength of his curses and the power of friendship.

'I wonder if I can convince Andrew to take Mallory's offer. But then again, a possible other source of supes other than her kid was better. Mallory is either going to be happy or angry, I hope the strawberries Andrew made are good at least.' Susan thought to herself closing her eyes at the intense headache she would deal with when they got home.

Author's note: And that's it! Like I said more jackal-centered fic this time around. I wanna make the first few chapters be how Jackal's buildup to the main story is gonna be, kinda like an origin story or a REALY long anime flashback.

And like more wizards in Fairy Tail, what's a life without a ridiculous or sad origin of making a friend? Seriously like most of the fairy tail members are always in a group of some sort, the themes of friendship lack a bit of nuance.

Gonna be following the beats of the show cannon with the main plot points and characters but there will be some comic book characters as well. As much as I love the show and the supes it gives us, you gotta admit that most of them are practically the same bulletproof type. I found the show was better at the tension those supes can bring but also how terrifying mind control and memory reading can be.

Jackal doesn't have a whole lot of internal thoughts and was admittedly one-dimensional in terms of character, doesn't mean he wasn't cool I mean when he killed Lamy. That Laugh.

Until the next chapter! Reviews are appreciated!
