Went looking for a decent HP-Sonic story, could not find a single one. So I decided to make my own, lol. Harry is a pure blood in this one, and the main pairing will be Harry(Sonic)/Luna
Dr. Ivo Robotnik, often called "Eggman" by his enemies, was staring at the computer with a massive frown on his face.
Three times that blasted hedgehog had somehow bypassed the wards around his facilities that he shouldn't have, considering they were blood locked to Eggman alone. Sonic would have had to go around the long way like everyone else and dealt with the security. Instead, he had walked right past the wards that should have kept him back via the invisible barrier.
Eggman knew they were still active, because Tails and the rest had to go the long way while Sonic zoomed past them without any notice. During his last plan he had placed an even nastier ward he had stolen before permanently relocating to this world, and once again Sonic had ignored it completely.
This time his plan had little to do with world domination, and more figuring out how Sonic was getting past those wards. If a hedgehog could pull it off, then so could people who worried him more.
As predicted, Sonic busted in with his little 'friends' and prepared to deal with whatever evil plan Eggman had going on this time. Behind him were Knuckles, Amy and Tails.
"Give up Eggman!" said Sonic glaring at him.
"Laugh it up now, Sonic!" he countered. They were so used to him using his robots and machines, none of them would see this coming.
Using the Chaos emeralds to boost his attack, Eggman hit all four animals with the spell.
Of the four, only Sonic had a reaction.
"Argh!"
"Sonic!" cried Amy.
Sonic's quills began to recede, and his form began to grow a bit. His normally scrawny proportions began to fill out as his body shifted.
"What did you do to him?" demanded Tails.
"I hit him with a vastly overpowered animagus reversal spell," deadpanned Eggman. That had everyone save for Sonic staring at him. "Considering I've never seen him outside of his hybrid form, I can only assume he's been stuck like that for a considerable amount of time."
"Spell?" said Knuckles. "Since when do you know how to use magic?!"
Eggman snorted at that. Sonic had almost finished turning back to his original form.
Sonic was completely naked save for the shoes and gloves he wore. It was pretty clear the hedgehog was a male (as if there had been any doubt on that front), and he looked to be about nine or ten physically. His piercing green eyes had a bit of trouble focusing, and his skin was slightly tanned from all the time he spent outdoors. There was a blue hue to his naturally black hair, and he was rather toned for a child.
"What did you do to me, Eggman?" he growled. He still sounded like himself, mostly.
"All I did you insufferable hedgehog, is revert you back to your natural form! While I must admit it's fairly impressive that someone your age managed to pull off such an intensive transfiguration skill, I knew something was up when you kept getting past my wards!"
"Wards?" said Sonic confused.
"Wait... you mean those invisible barriers?" said Tails. He had always wondered about that.
"Yes, those," said Eggman irate. "Do you really think I'd bother going the long way when I could just ward off certain hallways to get around the base and not have to deal with pesky intruders like you lot?"
Before any of them could retort, Eggman hit them all with another spell. He wasn't stupid after all...he knew they would demand he return Sonic to his hedgehog form because that was what he was used to.
Besides, there was more than one reason why he used that spell on Sonic. Before the newly human Sonic could resist, Eggman had taken more than enough to run a comparison test with his machines.
He booted them out so he could run the test in peace, and so they wouldn't tamper the results. If he was right, then a long running mystery would have finally be solved...and a massive headache would have been created.
Outside the ship...
Sonic was freezing. Normally he could run at speed to keep himself warm, and his fur did an excellent job of insulating himself.
Humans, as he swiftly discovered, did not have that luxury. He was shivering like no tomorrow, and would have likely frozen before they reached the summit...had one of Eggman's robots not shown up and dumped what looked like a weird bathrobe on him. It was better than nothing, but he was still cold.
The confusion everyone had at the human Sonic was strong. Finally they located an elder who could explain what Eggman had done to him.
"Sonic has reverted to his true form. The only way he will be able to run in his old one is to remember how he got that way in the first place. His body already knows what to do, he just has to figure out how to switch between them."
Sonic learned pretty quick being human was hard. He didn't know how anyone could stand being that slow. More than that, his new form was incredibly weak and got tired easily. At least he was a little bit taller, but that was about it.
Ironically, it was Amy who noticed something about Sonic when she gave him a hair tie because his bangs kept getting in his face and driving him nuts.
"What? Is there something on my face?" asked Sonic.
Amy reached into her bag, before pulling out a mirror. It took Sonic a second before he realized why she did so.
"Why do I look like Eggman?" said Sonic confused. While none of them knew or cared what his eye color was, the facial features looked strongly reminiscent of the man.
Knuckles was frowning as well. Now that he mentioned it, he was looking more closely at Sonic's features and some of the comments Eggman made before he kicked them out.
From what Eggman implied, he had placed special wards set to ignore him and him alone. Which was really worrying because until this point he had only used those blasted robots of his to cause trouble...none of them had ever suspected Eggman had magic and worse, knew how to use it.
Was it possible Sonic was related to Eggman in some way?
Knuckles mentally shook the idea out of his head. What were the odds of such a sick irony being true?
Eggman was scowling, but he had expected this the moment he suspected Sonic was actually an animagus.
Over a decade ago, his daughter had used the ritual he had given her to send his grandson to this realm for him to raise. Since she had been working on a blood based ward, and the family she had lived with was her adopted one, her son would have been safest with her father or his side of the family.
But...something had happened mid-transport and his grandson had disappeared. He knew his grandson was still alive and in this realm, but not where. With who his parents were, it hadn't surprised him learning his grandson had become an animagus or at hybrid of one.
The fact that he became one of the biggest nuisances in his life shouldn't have surprised him as much as it did. He supposed it was karma.
Eggman decided it was time to check on the brat. He had given him an old robe (cleaned of course), to insure his grandson didn't freeze on the way down the mountain. It had warming charms to keep him alive, so he should be fine.
He sent a few drones to observe Sonic, and found the boy struggling now that he was no longer in hedgehog form. Though honestly Eggman always thought the pest was more of a niffler hybrid, considering he had a nose for gems, rings and invisible pockets. It would explain entirely too much.
He snorted as Tails had to readjust his tech to deal with the inevitable accidents all magical children had.
Between the chaos emeralds, his natural magical core and the fact he was no longer sustaining that hybrid state constantly, it was no wonder his magic was having to readjust.
It was almost comical watching Sonic suffer through having to navigate the lands he once zoomed past, and more than a little embarrassing.
He could just tell they were operating under the belief that 'stopping' him would allow Sonic to revert back to his 'old' self and things would go back to normal.
Since he had already confirmed what he had already suspected, and he didn't have anything in the works that needed the Chaos Emeralds at the moment, he might as well have fun needling Sonic until he woke up and realized Eggman wasn't lying about the fact this was his true form.
Besides, it had been ages since he had used his magic, and he needed to shake off the rust.
Some time later...
Sonic was exhausted. It had been annoying having to wear actual clothes (everyone was adamant about that for some reason), his stamina was much lower than he was used to, and his human reflexes were so slow that he nearly had his head caved in more times than he could count.
The others were equally tired, but it was more emotionally than physically. They were used to Sonic being one of the heavy hitters...having to protect him was throwing them all off. If he had been captured and held hostage, that would have been one thing, but having to protect him in combat situations was stressing them all out.
Tails was starting to get annoyed as well, because his electronics kept failing and none of them could figure out why.
Naturally all of them were pretty pissed when Eggman showed up and gloating at them.
Sonic sorely wanted to punch his smug face in.
"How do we turn Sonic back?" demanded Knuckles.
"You don't. If you want him back to that hybrid form then you'll have to get him to do it," said Eggman flatly. "All I did was revert him to his original form. Sonic is the one who has to remember how to switch back and forth."
With Eggman present, the similarities between him and the insane doctor were hard to miss. Sonic had his hair pulled back with one of Amy's hair ties, because he didn't feel comfortable having it cut.
What followed was one of the most unusual fights they had ever had with Eggman. Rather than rely on his robots like normal, he pulled out a long stick and started slinging spells with an ease that only someone with extensive training could have.
Tails was not idle...he was taking measurements the entire time, and came to the uncomfortable conclusion that it was this energy that was messing up his instruments. Clearly, Eggman had long since learned to take that into account since none of his tech were experiencing the same technical difficulties.
It became clear soon after that all the mishaps he had before that point were actually because of Sonic.
It was not a nice revelation.
Eggman left, but it wasn't a victory for them. Not by a long shot.
They would all be very happy to have this ordeal over with and Sonic back to normal.
Amy read the journal that Eggman had left behind in his base. It was old, and the amount of wear and tear on it was natural. It was covered by a thick layer of dust that you really couldn't fake even with machines, especially considering how the room had been mostly sealed off.
"Hey guys, come look at this," she said.
"What is it?" asked Sonic.
"I think it's Eggman's diary," said Amy.
"His diary?" said Tails with interest.
"What does it say?" asked Sonic.
"It's done. The ritual to traverse the other worlds is completed. I've given her a copy to insure her safety, as well as to insure that my life's work would not be lost thanks to those fools in the Ministry.
The war has gotten worse. Edmund is gone as is his wife. It's a miracle Amelia had Susan that night, otherwise they would have all been lost.
The Order had become more persistent of late. Dumbledore doesn't approve of my army, but his foolishness has already cost the family too much. The Knights of Walpurgis will soon learn why they should never have targeted the family."
Knuckles was silent, mostly because he was revising his opinion of Eggman.
"So Eggman was part of a war?" said Tails quietly.
Amy was skimming the earlier entries.
"From what this says, Eggman lost his older brother and his wife. He gave his daughter some sort of spell that was supposed to send her here," said Amy.
"So what happened?" asked Sonic.
Amy went a bit further.
"He almost got me last night, but I had the last laugh. The bomb worked better than I could have hoped, and those fools never suspected a thing. Muggles are truly ingenious, and they never suspected I had machines scan their precious library without setting off the curses they left behind.
I will never understand why she married that idiot. My grandson is adorable and already so powerful despite not even being a year old. He'll go far, that's for certain.
Still, I'm worried about this prophecy she mentioned. It's far too vague and it all but paints a target on my grandson's back."
Amy turned the page, and on the other side was a strange poem that felt almost foreboding.
"The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches
born to those who have thrive defied him, born as the seventh month dies
and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not
either must die at the hand of the other, for neither can live while the other survives
the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies..."
"The book cuts off at that," said Amy.
"That...sounds really ominous," said Knuckles.
"So Eggman has a grandson and daughter?" said Tails.
"Are there any others?" asked Sonic.
Amy looked around. There was another book at the top shelf. Sonic was slightly glad he was a bit taller now, because he was able to reach it without setting off all the dust.
He handed it to her.
She opened it up and skimmed to the most recent entry.
"According to this, his daughter used the ritual to send his grandson here but something caused it to awry. He knows his grandson is alive, but not where he landed."
"Maybe if we found his grandson, he'd stop kidnapping all those forest creatures for his robots," said Sonic.
"Who knows, I mean robots would be pretty effective at covering a lot of ground," said Knuckles.
In reality Knuckles had the feeling Sonic was internally denying the obvious truth. A lot of little facts were beginning to add up and he suspected Sonic was Eggman's grandson.
