A new take on a Hunter X Hunter cross, in which Gon is fem Harry's son.
She had conflicted feelings. She had paid a considerable amount of money to track down where that bastard Ging left her son after she was put into a magical coma due to the stress of childbirth.
He was almost at the age where he could attend Hogwarts, and she had missed so many milestones because her enemies had happily used the opportunity to keep her in a coma.
She was still cleaning up the mess they had created in her absence.
Walking up to the bar, she felt beyond nervous. What sort of person was her son? Had he grown up in a better environment compared to her own? Did he even remember her?
Going in, the first impression she had was of warmth. Whoever owned the place was a good person, and it made her relax slightly.
"Can I help you?" asked the woman.
Her eyes went to the long picture on the back of the bar. It was a good thing the bar had only just opened, because this was going to be one hell of an awkward conversation as it was.
"Are you Mito Freecs?" she asked.
The woman stiffened at being identified. Good.
"My name is Raven Black. I was told you know where my son is."
"...You're Gon's mother, aren't you?" she asked.
"I was the one Ging slept with and produced a son, yes," she said.
There was a tension in the air, as Mito clearly expected her to try and reclaim him immediately.
"Gon's not here. He's taking the hunter exam right now," said Mito tersely.
Well that made things a little less awkward. But not much.
Raven wanted to sigh.
"I'm not here to reclaim my son. I mostly came to at least meet him and go from there. The last thing I want to do is remove him from a home where he is happy and loved."
Something passed between the two women, and Mito relaxed slightly.
"Where were you?" she asked finally. "All Ging left for Gon of yours was an audio recording."
"Shortly after I gave birth, I had to go in to the hospital for complications. Some of my enemies took advantage of this fact to forcibly put me into a magical coma, and it was only recently my friends were able to get me out."
The second she was well enough to take care of her own affairs, she had gone looking for her son. Finding out that Ging's sister had sued him for sole custody and learning he hadn't properly fought to keep his own child had pissed her off immensely.
"...Would you like some tea?" asked Mito. It was clear they had a lot to talk about.
Raven smiled at her.
"I'd love some. A proper cuppa sounds wonderful right now."
Several hours later...
Mito's initial tension over Gon's mother showing up had relaxed considerably since she had a chance to properly talk to the woman.
She could tell the woman was truly distraught over missing so many milestones of her son's life. She was also incredibly angry that Ging hadn't fought harder to keep his son, and had dumped Gon on his sister. Worse, he hadn't bothered to contact Gon once since doing so.
Since she knew from personal experience that the Hunter's exam took at least a half a month to complete, there was little point trying to reach out to him just yet. It gave her more time to sort out her personal issues before she introduced herself to him.
Mito had no issue with her staying at the bar, especially since Raven insisted on giving her the money she should have been getting since she was raising Gon by herself.
Learning that she should have been given an actual stipend for being his guardian had come as a shock.
Since she was still recovering, and there was no telling when her son would return to visit Mito, she decided the easiest way to handle thing was to stay and wait.
In order to avoid feeling like a freeloader, she happily agreed to help around the bar.
Several months later...
The first moment Raven set eyes on her son for the first time in over a decade, it took everything she had not to cry and hug him.
Gon didn't recognize her, which stung like hell but she was almost done with a rather long list of people who were going to regret putting her in a medical coma for over a decade.
It was a good thing she still had the contact information for that family...she wanted nothing but the best and those idiots to suffer for what they did.
Once she went past Gon, she had to repress a snort upon registering the young man next to him. It was clear just looking at him that the two were incredibly close, and that odds were they might end up in bed together once hormones hit.
The silverette was also ridiculously familiar to her, though she had never met him before this. Something about his aura and the way he carried himself reminded her strongly of someone else.
It wasn't until she observed him for a bit that she realized why he felt so familiar.
Of course her son would end up befriending a Zoldyck, rather than be afraid of him.
In Gon's room...
"Gon...there's someone here who wants to meet you," said Mito carefully.
"That woman from the bar?" asked Gon.
Killua had noticed her immediately, and knew she could be a threat...but the way she had looked at Gon said she wouldn't harm him. It was weird.
"She's been waiting a very long time to meet you, and arrived a week after you left for the exams."
Gon knew the woman was important, but didn't know why. Mito opened the door to reveal the woman, who looked very nervous.
"Hello Gon... my name is Raven and I'm your mother."
You could have cut the tension with a knife. It was that bad.
Gon...didn't know how to feel about the fact his mother showed up out of the blue like this.
"Why didn't you come sooner?" he asked finally.
"Certain people used the fact I was having complications after having you to put me into a medically induced coma. I only recently came out of it because my friends managed to rescue me," said Raven tiredly. "Though I will be having words with your father when I track him down."
She then turned to Killua, which made him tense slightly.
"How is Silva doing, by the way?"
Killua stared at her.
"How do you know my father's name?" he asked. There was a look in his eyes that said he would not hesitate to do something permanent, Gon's bio mother or not.
Raven openly snorted.
"He was openly considering me as a potential wife for Illumi until your brother came out as gay," she deadpanned. "I still have the contact number he gave me, which I fully plan to use later once I've finished making my list of all those responsible for me missing out on so much of my son's life."
Killua stared at her. She stared back.
"If that's the case then how did you end up with Gon's father?" he countered.
"A combination of being in an area with an unknown aphrodisiac plant and far too much alcohol," she replied without hesitation. "It was a one night stand and you have no idea the sort of heart attack I gave Ging when I tracked his sorry ass down to explain that he had better take responsibility or else."
"You're not going to make me leave Aunt Mito, are you?" asked Gon.
"Absolutely not. It's clear she loves you as her own son, and that she truly cares for you. Which is why instead I'm going to train you and your best friend," said Raven.
"Train us? In what?" said Killua.
You could imagine their shock when she pulled out a very familiar, if higher ranked badge.
"How did you think I was able to meet Ging, who's a high ranked Hunter?" she said smiling. "People like him tend to avoid big cities and prefer the dangerous wilderness."
The next morning...
Killua couldn't believe he was making this call, but he had to know whether this "Raven Black" was being honest about the fact his father had once considered her for his older brother.
It was one thing to earn the marginal respect of his family...it was entirely another to be considered a potential match.
"I wasn't expecting you to give up so easily," said his father.
"What do you know about a Raven Black?" he asked.
Dead silence for a good five seconds, which was pretty telling in itself.
"I was unaware she was still active. She dropped off the map shortly after you were born."
"She said she was considered a potential fiance for Illumi," said Killua.
"She is. When his true preferences came out, she openly offered to act as a surrogate," said Silva.
Killua could tell from his tone that they were still considering it.
"Why are you bringing up one of the most deadly female assassins from over a decade ago?"
"She showed up at Gon's house and said she's his mom."
Dead silence lasted for ten seconds this time.
"She is his mother? That explains a great deal," said Silva finally.
"Is that a bad thing? She mentioned something about training," said Killua.
"Take her up on the offer," said Silva with zero hesitation. "She was considered quality ten years ago, and she's not the type to let her skills lapse."
That was as close to a glowing recommendation as one could get from his family. Killua hung up and went to find Raven.
Gon was talking rather adamantly with his mother, mostly because he found out she had the same knack for animals he did.
"Have a fun talk with your father?" she called out, without looking behind her.
"You never mentioned that you were an assassin like me," said Killua.
"Technically, I'm not. I'm a Black, and a trained war mage to boot. I think your father was impressed from my skill set and kill count, honestly," said Raven, shrugging.
She wasn't an assassin by trade, but she certainly had the right skill set for one. Silva had seen her when she was fighting some undead nuisances and creating large swathes of destruction, before sneaking up on the bastard responsible and killing him with little to no remorse.
The fact she had picked up on him and nearly hit him with a pen had decided it for him.
"Killua, did you know she can speak to snakes?" said Gon excitedly.
"Really?" he said, curious.
Raven grinned, and hissed quietly. To his amazement, a clearly venomous snake slithered from her sleeve cuff to stare him down in the eye. It would have been unnerving if he was anyone else.
"So, you two want to go to York Shin to find your friends, is that right?"
"Dad also left behind some weird cartridge for a game," said Gon.
"Greed Island? I haven't played that in ages," said Raven fondly. "It was such a pain to get my hands on, but I have Ging's copy somewhere in one of my safety deposit boxes. It's a hunter-only game and it's exclusively for Nen training if I recall."
Killua and Gon looked at her.
"You have a copy?" Killua asked.
"Having connections makes thing so much easier. I might not look it, but I'm the head of two ancient and noble families," said Raven.
"...Ancient and noble?" said Killua faintly.
"I'm a Duchess back home," said Raven cheerfully. "And my people use a power similar, but with a broader range than Nen."
Killua turned to Gon.
"Your mom is weird."
"Oddly enough, that's one of the nicest things anyone has said about me. Usually I get called a crazy bitch. And the fact you say that tells me that you've never run into Luna yet," said Raven with a laugh.
